Dungeon Master

Jared's CMD is only 22. The trip suceeds. I presume trip is your action for your AoO? He thus would not have gotten his round 1 attack in.

Jared Kaal races forward and before he even reaches his opponent is tripped and finds himself face down in the dirt. He then tries to pull himself to his feet.

Gonna be tricky to get too far ahead as I intend to just ruin his day a lot, he can't outrun me, and he can't engage fast enough... he's going to get picked apart and trick shotted to death :)

"I didn't even use my spells!" Red taunts.

Round 2

"I should have guessed you were a dirty fighter! Well, I won't fall for that trick again!"

Jared Kaal, who is lying prone upon the ground bleeding badly, makes an attempt to stand up (move equivalent actions that provokes an AoO) . He then steps five feet forward and swings his longsword aimlessly at his opponent and thus clearly missing.

Trust a Kaal to be that stupid!! Whose fault is it that he doesn't know his enemy before getting into a fight?! Psheh.

Bofus takes the opportunity after getting in his dig, to drift to his left (AB 11) and hide in the shadows. He's not planning on interfering--first, that is. But he trusts Kaal and his cronies about half as far as he could throw them! He'll be ready to interrupt Jared's inevitable cry for help from his guards...

Jared Kaal is clearly no match for the bard, Rebel Red. He stands to him feet just in time to be slain.

"Ughhhhhh!!! You . . . suck . . . "

Captain of the Lion Guard of Brindol

"Well done, Red! Justice has been served after all. I suppose that saves us having to go through a long drawn out trial. Nicely fought, my friend. All I can say is that I am glad you are fighting on our side. I think the Red Hand is going to have a difficult time in the days to come."

With a clean hit, Red finishes the Magistrate.

Red pauses to wipe the blood off on a scarlet sash saved just for this occasion. Red appears to be calming down, a little tired looking from the fracas but unscathed.

"Anyone else?"

The Kaals have caused more trouble than you can imagine and it is good riddance to get rid of their eldest son. "Well, I'm sure the young lass has seen enough bloodshed in one night to know that when war comes to this city, it will be a gruesome sight. I'm in favor of keeping her protected here in the fortress, but she need not be treated like a prisoner. Perhaps we could bring her some blankets and comfortable furnishings. Unless any of you can think of a safer place here in Brindol where she could be kept." Mantooth thinks for a moment longer and then declares, "I know, what if we put her to work in the cathedral helping the priests with the tending to the wounded. I'm sure there are nice people there who would look after me. So yes, Mantooth, I would be willing to help out. Bofus walks right up to the relatively unstable giant and gives a friendly wave. Hiya Mongo!! I'm Bofus, and I'm glad you're going free. Listen, I know you want to hunt and stuff, but that army of monsters is right outside the city. If you go out there now, they might catch you and kill you!! You might want to stick nearby, so you can help us fight them off, and have safe hunting grounds. You think?

Dungeon Master

I am not exactly sure of your plan, but I am guessing that you are now heading to Kaal Manor to arrest Verasa Kaal?

Leaving the Fortress, the Heroes walks down the cobblestone streets of Brindol past Brindol Keep and a short ways over the hill to Kaal Manor. Outside of the walled estate stand two of the elite guards of House Kaal.

Please let me know your approach and/or if you simply walk up to them and start talking to them.

Kaal Manor

Captain of the Lion Guard of Brindol

"Well, we've taken care of the son. Now we must deal with the matriarch herself. I know Bofus has been here, but let me warn you, this place is a well fortified keep in itself. I don't think this will be nearly as easy as it was getting into the Fortress. For one thing, the city does not own the estate as it does the prison, but more importantly we do not have any of our own guards on the inside. Until the treason, Jarmaath believed this small legion would fight for Brindol, but I am not so sure now. The House Kaal Guards are paid for by the Kaal family are loyal to them first and foremost. I know I would feel better with an army of Brindol Lions at my back than this group of mercenaries. What do you propose we do? Is this going to be as simple as walking up to the front gate and demanding admittance?"

Red strides forward, his Fiddle in hand.

"Why aren't you people ready? Where is my fanfare? What is going on? I have come to perform, Red the wandering minstrel, one of the biggest things in Varisia, Galt, the crowd pleaser of Magnimar and I come to this backwater to perform on the eve of battle, I cancelled shows for this and this is the preparation for my arrival? A pair of half asleep guards at a gatehouse? SACRE BLEU! Jared Kaal must be losing his head if he can see all this! He sent word! Hurry and open the gate, I do not have all night and I can feel the artistic flair draining from my body! Look at the rest of the audience we have here, the Captain oof the Guard no less, champions and heroes of tournaments, and you keep the beautiful Lady Kaal away from her evenings entertainment? I feel scandalised, thats it! I am not playing this evening, I shall go back to Jared Kaal and complain to him, he will be in pieces with it all!

"Please, come in." The guard gestures as politely as he can.

Turning to the inner guard, he barks an order, "Send for Tearax immediately. We have a problem here."

The inner guard obeys and immediately hurries off.

Turning his attention back to you, he says"Can I please offer you a seat on this bench while we wait to straighten this all out?"

Help me to understand this situation. Is the rest of the company with Red as he tries to make this Bluff? At the moment, I have the rest just down the street, not particularly associating with Red. I can change this, if Red makes comment, or others chime in. Where is Bofus? At the moment, I have him being his typical stealthy self behind a tree.

I see you are not interested in small talk. Well no worries, neither is this guy!

After a moment wait, a short bald man, armored in plate mail strides out of what looks like a barracks. His face has a scowl on it, and his eyes pierce at you as he approaches. He walks quickly and with intensity. He is escorted by two armed guards, one of whom holds onto a large black dog that tugs at his chain. The viscious dog glares his teeth as it growls in a low deep sound.

"I am Bastak Tearax, and I am in charge of security here at Kaal Manor. I was told there is a problem. The only problem I see is that I was awoke from my bed and we have unexpected guests. You see, I don't like surprises! So who are you and what is the meaning of this visit?"

R1
Free action, maintain song.
Red slips forwards across (5'Step) to engage the Commander, "Believe I had this dance, but perhaps this chap falls and his guards change their minds about fighting?"

He swings his blade:

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Not wanting to harm his companions, but hoping to remove some of the guards as quickly as possible, Tirion calls on his magic and a second later a small pea sized ball of acid pops from his fingers before erupting into a gigantic sizzling mass of dissolving acid which swallows several of the guards . . . and the party's thief.

Cast Fireball centered at D/-8 & E/-7 -- should get F-7, F-6, F-5, and G-9 (and Bofus).
Bofus I hope you make your save on this with your +14.

Bofus sees the ball as it leaves Tirion's finger, drops flat to the ground, then springs back up (unscathed) when the blast is over. Phew, that's stinky!!
