Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

DMHW - how many Green Dragongems do we have? I want to cast Resist Energy on Mantooth, Thordak, myself and Edvard. (Bofus, you should have the green gems I think and also have evasion).

Not in use

Edvard shakes his head at Tirion's inquiry of flight "I can but go aloft myself, and cannot force another on high."

Edvard will hang onto the horn of fog for now.
He'll hide himself in C,13

Dungeon Master

Tirion:

The plate mail armor is +2 Full Plate Mail Armor. The Location of the Eyes of the Dragon are listed on the campaign page. The two green eyes are being held by Thordak at the moment.

Bofus, you creep out onto the roof of the building and look to the north. You are not sure what to think when you do not see any trace of the dragon.

How long do you wish to wait and watch?

In the Dragon's Realm:

P 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (9) + 21 = 30
S 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38

Rapier: +15/+10 (+6 BAB, +6 Dex, +1 size, +2 ench); Bow +14/+9(+1) (+6 BAB, +6 Dex, +1 size, +1 bow/+1 acid arrow)

I'll wait for maybe 2 minutes. If I don't hear or see anything in that time, I'll go back to the group, hide, and wait.

If that happens . . .
he must have seen or heard us, and is sneaking up. I can't find him.

Man-Dwarf Dwarf Ranger 9 (HP: 115/115, AC: 22, Flat: 19, Touch: 15, +14 Perception(+2 on Stonework/fe/ft) Hunter's Tricks: 6/6

Oi've got tha green eyes. Thordak says but Oi know a coupla tricks too. I'll give up the eyes, but I also have resist energy (DR10, 20min)and protection from energy(DR24, 20 min or when has absorbed all 24 damage). I can offer these spells and eyes to anybody, but I would like one of them too as I think I'll be up front.

Thordak casts resist energy on Mantooth (DR10 Acid). Anybody want a potion of bull's strength?

Thordak keeps his ears and eyes peeled for signs of the dragon.

Thordak, maybe you could hit me with one of those spells . . .

I'd take Protection if you've a mind

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Thordak, why don't you use the potion of bull's strength. Mantooth already has a belt that should do the same thing. Bull's Strength would give him an extra +2 to Str, but will not stack with his +2 Belt.

Between my 3 Resist Energy and Thordak's we should be able to get everyone except Trellara - who I hope will stay away from the fight and support us with her songs.

Thordak, you should not be able to memorize Protection from Energy unless DMHW gave it to you special. At level 6 you only know 1+Wis first level spells. Resist Energy is a 1st level ranger spell.

DMHW:

Mantooth has a bunch of spells memorized, most of which are way above his level. Can I drop everything and just memorize Protection from Evil twice. He would then cast it on himself once and on Thordak once.

Also, what was the resistance granted by the eyes of the dragon? Resistance 5 for 1 and 10 for 2, or was it 10 for 1 and 20 for 2. Whoever has the 2 green eyes will not get a Resist Energy cast on them.

Man-Dwarf Dwarf Ranger 9 (HP: 115/115, AC: 22, Flat: 19, Touch: 15, +14 Perception(+2 on Stonework/fe/ft) Hunter's Tricks: 6/6

Aye, here ya go Bofus. Thordak says, touching Bofus on the head.
Resist Energy (acid) for Bofus and Mantooth DR20 (not DR10 like I said last time). I have DR10 from the eyes. Tirion, you're right about protection--I thought I had one 2nd level spell too but I guess not.

Thordak takes out his wand of gravity bow and taps his crossbow.

Dungeon Master

The moments pass agonizingly slow and the tension grows thick as you wait in anticipation for the arrival of a Black Dragon back to his lair. Trying to push thoughts of fear from your head, you do not feel particularly well hidden. In fact the anxiety around be eaten by a dragon feels very real at this moment. The thought of acid burning your skin also lingers.

Perception DC 25:
A few bubbles come to the surface of the dark water in the hole in the floor as the water swirls slightly.

Mantooth
As soon as the bubbles appear, Mantooth raises Magnimara.
Bless us Light of the Sword that our blows may strike true.
Use Magnimara to cast Bless - 3 minute duration.

Rounding the wall Edvard sets eyes upon the dragon. Many thoughts rising in his mind tactically, he lodges upon the one that might give his companions best advantage. While staring at you, the target is considered to be averting its eyes from every creature but you, granting creatures other than you concealment against the target's attacks. If the target willingly leaves your line of sight, it is blinded for 1 round and the spell ends. If you willingly leave the target's line of sight or become unconscious or dead, the spell creature suffers no ill effects. Blind creatures and creatures immune to gaze attacks are immune to this spell.

Tirion, yes Mantooth was able to cast bless and keen Magnimarana with his divine bond.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Are you rolling Performance rolls on the Bardic Performance for any reason? I do not think there is any DC to Inspire Courage. If it is just for flavor, that is fine. Just let us know what the bonus is so that our fighters can add it.

@ Bofus, don't forget you have Butterfly Sting. Either Mantooth or Thordak can make good use of that.

Glancing around at his companions he notes that none yet are injured enough for his attention, so instead ponders how he might impair the dragon. Slamming his staff into the floorboards, Edvard extends his left hand towards the black before twisting and clenching it into a fist. With a wry smirk he expends his focus to cloud the dragon's luck into murk.

Round 1

• Bofus delivers a deadly attack stabbing the dragon on its neck. The fierce creature's eyes glare in hatred of the wretched halfling.

Round 2

• Trellara continues to inspire courage with her heavenly voice.
• Bofus delivers another quick attack under the arm reaching desperately for the heart. The blade pierces the thick skin and a black oozing blood flows from the wound.
• Thordak unrelentlessly continues his attack against the young black dragon and delivers more perilous wounds.
• Tirion casts shocking grasp and electrical sparks fly as the beast endures the electrical charge.
• Edvard casts ill omen on the dragon.
• Mantooth sends Magnimarana crashing down upon the great foe repeatedly.

The young adult black dragon, beaten and badly wounded, crashes down onto the stone floor of his lair with a great thud. In the next moment, the edge of the opening to the pool crumbles apart as the great corpse slides off into the dark water into the depths below to be eaten by other inhabitants of the lake.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Tirion watches as the presumptions dragon is sliced open by Magnimara as easily as he might cut a piece of bread.

Wow, that went better than expected. Bofus, does this beast have any of those gems hidden in its scales like the last one?

I will cast Detect Magic and once again scan down into the water from every angle as I circle around the hole in the floor.

Dungeon Master

Tirion:

To your surprise, you are unable to detect any magic auras down into the depths of the dark watery hole.

Female Elf Bard 5 (hp: 32/32, AC: 18, FF 16, T 13)

"Thank Desna that it is done! I was so scared trying to sing that I almost choked up! At last it is now over!" Trellara confesses with tears in her eyes. "You really are heroes! I knew you could do it! Just wait until the Tiri Kitor hear the news! Songs will be sung and stories told of your feats for generations to come!"

Edvard scoffs at the departing beast "A success made possible by it's stupidity... but a success nonetheless. We should gather what remains of wealth and end the greenspawn before we depart." pausing a few moments before adding "A pity it goes to the depths... Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Well, Mantooth, looks like a nice new set of armor for you. We can divide up the other goods and we should probably see if all those coins will fit into our Haversacks.

Next, I believe there is a pen full of dragonspawn and whatever other stragglers are still lying hereabouts. Lets take out what we can, then Trellara and the elves can clean up anything that is left.

Dungeon Master

The sight of the gleaming dragon horde is impressive even for those of you who do not like treasure. As you take some time to fill haversacks, bags and purses with coins, you find the following items in addition to the plate mail, the periapt, the mace and the horn.

8,800 silver pieces
2,300 gold pieces

As the dragon starts to sink to the depths, while Tirion is suggesting it, Bofus quickly pulls out his Eye of the Dragon, and looks at the dead black through its crystilline surface.

DMHW, bite your tongue!!! Who doesn't like treasure?!?!?!

Hmmmm . . . this went well!! And now, please stand back everyone, I'd like to have a look at this little box.

Check it for traps, using EoD
Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (6) + 20 = 26

If it's trapped, go for the Disable.

since I'm not supposed to see the result of a DD for a trap . . .:
DD: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (7) + 19 = 26

and if it's locked, unlock it!

DD: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (18) + 19 = 37

I'll also pull out our Wand of CLW and hit myself (since there's no penalty for failure and no time constraint, I"ll forego the UMD check if that's OK)

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Thordak, would you like some tending to that nasty acid burn?

The Undivided Loot has been updated to include evything thus far--except whatever is in that iron chest!!

Not in use

Bofus - don't forget that you have a bonafide healer now - raises hand.
Just needs to be asked :P

Dungeon Master

Bofus:

As you raise an eye of the dragon to your own eyes and look down into the depths of the black water, you see two purplish lights down in the depths. They are nearly the color of a black light.

The small iron coffer is unlocked and contains perhaps the most valuable item of all - a Phylactery on a delicate adamantine chain on which are threaded a lion's claw and teeth.

whoa, guys--there are TWO Dragon's Eyes down there!! Can't tell if they're on the dragon itself, or just down in the water . . .

DM, any way to tell how deep they are?

Um, Edvard--I seem to recall you can heal, right? YOu mind seeing to Thordak's injuries?

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

I look around. Anyone good at swimming?

I look at the Phylactery and then cast Detect Magic and try to discern whether it is of any real value.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26

Dungeon Master

As Tirion casts detect magic and looks into the magical spectrum around the phylactery, he suddenly collapses to the ground stunned.

Tirion:

I will let you know when you do awake, but when you do awake, you are aware that this phylactery gives off an overwhelming aura of evil and necromatic magic. You believe that this magical phylactery houses the soul of a very powerful lich. You are aware that the only way to get rid of a lich for sure is to destroy its phylactery. Unless its phylactery is located and destroyed, a lich can rejuvenate after it is killed.
