Dungeon Master

Edvard, the flight was only a distance of about 140 feet. Remind me your flight speed. This will tell us how long it took. It certainly took no longer than a minute. Is Flight Hex measured in minutes or rounds?

Bofus, The old town hall was indeed where the dragon came from. However, you are not clear what specific entrance it came out of.

Flight hex is measured in minutes, and is a 60ft base speed.
Hasted flight speed is 60+30 = 90ft per move action.
I'll assume that by the time the others row over one minute is fully spent

Well, I'd think it shoudln't be too difficult to find where the dragon's entrance is. Considering hwo big the bugger is, and that he had such a slow-witted guard, he must not have worried about stealth too much. thordak, any ideas?

I'll take a look around for trails or other sign of dragon passing (but I'm no tracker)

In fact, I'll pull out an EoD and look around through it, too. who knows, maybe thsi dragon keeps one!!

Dungeon Master

From where you are each standing on the boardwalk, there are no visible entrances to the town hall. Only stairs leading up to the roof. Using an eye of the dragon, you are unable to see any other 'eyes'.

Even though we are not in battle and I am not recording round numbers, I still find it very helpful if you use coordinates on the map to tell me specifically where you are searching, and/or moving.

I will follow the others to the building and keep an eye out while Bofus searches.

@DMHW - the Spectral Hand has a duration of 6 minutes. Let me know if it runs out please.

Dungeon Master

Tirion, you have used about a minute so far. Folks, I am still looking for directions. Who and Where do you go specifically? Upstairs? Around the boardwalk to the west side of the building? South to the pen created out of log walls?

Dungeon Master

Thordak:
Thordak walks around the boardwalk and finds little evidence of an actual dragon living nearby until he reaches the western edge of the building. Sitting directly in front of his path, on the boardwalk, he finds a reeking pile of fecal matter that leads you to believe that only a dragon could leave such convincing evidence!

Dungeon Master

Thordak:
Besides the evidence of the dragon you found, there appears to be several footprints of large creatures walking the wet boardwalk. They appear to be made by some sort of giant creature, ettin, or ogre. There does not appear to be any other entrance into the town hall except up the stairs and onto the roof. There are no other tracks to be found.

Mantooth:
There is no staircase going down. There are just the two staircases going up on the east side of the building. They appear to go up to the roof. There is also a door to the south along the boardwalk that leads into a building made from logs lashed together.

Up the stairs? or South to the door into the building made out of logs lashed together?

*whisper* OK guys, there's three ogres up there, and they're completely unaware of us. The room is really small--so small we can use it to our adavntage! I sketch out the room as carefully as I can (carefully enough to show the map under the above spoiler, methinks?).

*whisper*I think that if I circle around the other set of stairs--heck, these guys are so engrossed in their game I could walk up these stairs and sneak across--I could wait for Mantooth to get their attention, then provide a flank so we can stab them to bloody pulps one at a time. No way can two of them fit at the top of those stairs! What do you think, Mantooth? That pretty sword of yours ready for some ogre blood??

DMHW - I just discovered that when I use the Rods (Reach and Toppling), it should be a full round action, not a standard action. I did not realize that this applied to rods as well as the underlying metamagic feat, but just found it on a thread.

After Edvard moves, I 5-foot step to H/-22 and using my Rod of Toppling cast Magic Missile, one at each of the three ogres.

Damage(F/-25): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Trip: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

Damage(D/-2725): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Damage(G/-2825): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
