I see what happened. Tiron did MM on round 3. I went on round 3, but since I went before Tirion, no one was down. My bad--just ignore my "if he gets up" stuff--except that last one; if that guy *does* fall, and gets up, bofus will get an AoO.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 46/46 - AC19;FF16;T17 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

I actually told everyone to delay until after me on Round 1, but nobody seemed to listen.

Dungeon Master

Sorry for the delay, folks, but I am just waiting for Mutamba and Mantooth to finish their posts.

• Mutamba attacks and attempts to trip a bladebearer (CMD: 20). His first attack hits and he brings down the hobgoblin.
• Bofus sneaks up and delivers a deadly surprise attack to the bladebearer flanking Mantooth, nearly killing him.

ROUND 4

I take the minor shot in stride, and scamper around to K19 (this will draw from the guy at G18--but if he's prone, that's at -4 to hit) to flank the guy at K18 with Mantooth, and bring him down.

Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 3d6 ⇒ (1) + 2 + (1, 3, 3) = 10

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 46/46 - AC19;FF16;T17 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Mantooth should have had a crit threat on the second hit when he rolled a 19. Also, doesn't Mantooth have Cleave or Great Cleave? Just wondering as that would seem opportune to use when he is surrounded.

Holding off on my actions until I see what Mutamba and Mantooth do.

Dungeon Master

I will be the first to admit, getting your dm to run a character is never a good idea. In my rush, I checked his character sheet, but did not see 19 -20/x2. So I did figured he needed the 20 for the crit. Sorry if I blew that! I also forgot the great cleave. However, it sure does make the battle exciting don't you think?! :-)

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 46/46 - AC19;FF16;T17 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Let me know if you want me to run him in combat. I have no problem with this and as I posted on another board a while ago, as the DM running a character, you have two problems. First is what you did, forgetting all the feats and abilities. And second is avoiding metagaming - you know what is coming and do not want to spoil it, but also do not want to play the character like a dud.

If he has not posted by tonight, remind me and I will post his next round actions. For the present, here is his crit confirm if you want. We will switch to cleaving everything next round.

Round 2 - Edit
Mantooth - Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31

Round 3

Mantooth attempts to cleave from left to right, starting with the hobgoblin and then going through to the other. His last attacks are aimed back at the goblin on his left and then Durgin.

Magnimarana Power Attack 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 13 - 2 = 25 J19 Goblin
Magnimarana Power Damage 1d10 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 4 = 21

Magnimarana Cleave Attack 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22 Durgin
Magnimarana Damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Magnimarana Cleave Attack 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15 H19 Goblin
Magnimarana Damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Magnimarana Haste Attack 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17 J19 Goblin

Magnimarana Attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Durgin
Magnimarana Damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Rond 4
Mantooth tries to cleave again, starting with the goblin on the left and through to Durgin. Mantooth will use his haste attack to try to disarm Durgin.

Magnimarana Power Attack 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 13 - 2 = 22 J19 Goblin
Magnimarana Power Damage 1d10 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 4 = 14

Magnimarana Cleave Attack 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20 Durgin
Magnimarana Damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Magnimarana Haste Disarm 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33 Durgin
Magnimarana Damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Not sure if you can get Critical on a disarm, but here it is.
Magnimarana Attack 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
Magnimarana Damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Magnimarana Attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 Durgin
Magnimarana Damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Could I get a reroll for J19's Round 3 successful attack on Mantooth? Or can Mantooth steal that weapon?

Round 4

DM Rolls:

Will Saving Throw 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Durgin continues to try and fight the holy paladin.

Round 5

"Would you mind checking on Durgin and snagging that ring off from him first, Bofus? I don't need whoever is controlling him to force his hand any more."

Round 4

• Mutamba trips the hobgoblin at E12 and attacks him like the wind in a flury of blows.
• Tirion moves to H23 and releases a blast of acid as he uses his elemental ray against a the hobgoblin at F19. The ray hits and burns the hobgoblin.

Round 5

• Mutamba casts Cure Moderate Wounds upon himself.
• Bofus takes a 5' step to J18, then draws and throws his dagger with drow poison on it (at bladebearer J16) The dagger hits the hobgoblin and sticks into his leg.

Will Save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Bofus, he missed his saving throw. How long until the onset of the poison? Correct me if I am wrong, but I suspect that it must be near immediately.

The hobgoblin glares at you, but then appears to get a glazed look in his eyes and then he collapses in a heap.

After being hit by an elemental ray the hobgoblin at F19 continues to fire his bow at Tirion.

Mantooth, cleave is a standard action, therefore you are not entitled to the extra attack from Haste (which you get when you do a Full Attack). So I am just doing one extra attack.

• Mantooth delivers a critical blow with Magnimarana as if he were slicing down corn stalks and takes down the bladebearer at F19. With a second swing, you are able to mortally wound the bladebearer at G18.

Actually, Mantooth, I think Mutamba could use some help now, so . . .

I then begin to bind his hands and remove the blade and ring from his possession. I will use Mage Hand to remove the ring.

Dungeon Master

@Tirion

You will not be able to do all of this in one round. While combat is proceeding, please tell me the order of your priorities.

1. Stop the bleeding and stabilize him.
2. Remove the Blade from his possession.
3. Remove the Ring from his possession.
4. Bind his hands.

2 - Heal/stop bleeding - I still think that the good Durgin is somewhere in there.
3 - Bind Hands since I failed to heal him.
4 - Get Ring.

Male Halfling Thief/9 Init: +12 HP: 53/53 AC: 28 Touch: 19; Perception 15 (19 traps; TRAPSPOTTER)
Attacks:
Rapier: +15/+10 (+6 BAB, +6 Dex, +1 size, +2 ench); Bow +14/+9(+1) (+6 BAB, +6 Dex, +1 size, +1 bow/+1 acid arrow)

ROUND 7

After seeing Mutamba blast his guy to smithereens, I trust him to flank with Mantooth and make short work of the last standing guy, so . . .

With my current (hastened) move of 50, I can get to the sleeping bad guy at J16 by going around Mantooth and not drawing from his foe. ONce I get there, I'll kick his sword away.

That's it for that round--my intention is to make sure he's disarmed, then restrained, before he wakes up. But if someone else decides to kill him before that (if htey think he's not worth talking to), meh, so be it! ;-)

Male Human Paladin 9 (HP:68/102, AC: 28, Touch: 16; +10 Fort, +6 Reflex, +11 Will)

Round 7
Mantooth continues to attack the hobgoblin directly in front of him, albeit relatively weakly compared to his other attacks in this battle.

Magnimarana Attack 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
Magnimarana Damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Magnimarana Haste Attack 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
Magnimarana Damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Magnimarana Attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Magnimarana Damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Ok, thanks for the clarification!

Round 7

• Mutamba (unresolved)
• Bofus hastily moves to the bladebearer at J16 at kicks his blade away.

• The Bladebearer swings a blade at Mantooth, misses and then tries to flee. He moves to D19.

Longsword 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Mantooth, I am counting your first attack as the attack of opportunity you would be granted. But now you are now free to act again now that the Bladebearer has moved.

• Tirion (unresolved)

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 46/46 - AC19;FF16;T17 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Round 7
I am going to use mage hand to remove the ring again.

Dungeon Master

@Tirion

You are able to remove the ring from Durgin's finger. However, the unconscious farmer then immediately dies from the wounds he has sustained.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 46/46 - AC19;FF16;T17 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Can I try to heal him again? My goal is to keep him alive it at all possible. I did not realize he was that far into the negatives.

Heal: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14

Dungeon Master

@Tirion

It appears that the ring had given Durgin some strength. However, when it was removed, he really did not have the life force to continue.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 46/46 - AC19;FF16;T17 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

I shout out: Mutamba - let Bofus and Mantooth take those stragglers down. I need you to look at Durgin. I am afraid that removing the ring may have killed him.

I quickly put the ring back on hoping it will revive him.

Andoran

Male Halfling Thief/9 Init: +12 HP: 53/53 AC: 28 Touch: 19; Perception 15 (19 traps; TRAPSPOTTER)
Attacks:
Rapier: +15/+10 (+6 BAB, +6 Dex, +1 size, +2 ench); Bow +14/+9(+1) (+6 BAB, +6 Dex, +1 size, +1 bow/+1 acid arrow)

ROUND 8

With my move of 50', I'll scramble to C 19 (I *think* I can make it without drawing an AoO, but if I draw, so be it) to corner the bladebearer, and give Mantooth an opportunity to flank with me!

I'll then take a stab . . .
Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Male Human (Mwangi) 3 monk/ 3 Cleric HP 36/43 AC 17

Seeing that Tirion is in need of his assistance, Mutamba scrambles to his side, "The farmer looks in a bad way, my friend. I will do what I can, but do not hold your breath." Kneeling beside the man, the Mwangi priest calls on his innate ability to stave off death's cold embrace.

Cast Stabalize

Dungeon Master

• Mantooth moves to E20 and strikes at the Bladebearer ( D19) with Magnimrana.

Magnimarana 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 2 = 17
Damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

The blade further wounds the hobgoblin

• Tirion places the ring back upon Durgin's finger hoping to revive him, but fearing the worse, he calls over to Mutamba.

Round 8

• Mutamba rushes over and immediately casts stabilize upon Durgin Fortkeep and waits, hoping that he returns to consciousness. So far, the farmer remains dead.

• Bofus rushes over to C19 and quickly stabs the bladebearer. His small but deadly attack mortally wounds the hobgoblin and knocks him to the ground dying.

Calling on deeper powers,Mutamba lays his hands upon the man's cooling body and releases a jolt of divine energy.

Rebuke Death Domain Power 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

@Mutamba

Durgin Fortkeep's body jolts briefly.

Fortitude Saving Throw 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

However, his body remains still.

Male Human (Mwangi) 3 monk/ 3 Cleric HP 36/43 AC 17

"This man slipped beyond our world, little friend. I pray Irori finds him free of the monster who controlled him."

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 46/46 - AC19;FF16;T17 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

That is too bad, I truly believe he was a good man under the possession of an evil creature or mage. Well, lets throw these bodies on the wagon and get it back to Drellin's Ferry. The people will want to see what happened and this time we do not let these weapons out of our possession.

I also look at the sword being used by Durgin.

Detect Magic
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25

Turning to Bofus:
Bofus, what caused Durgin to change? I though that he was truly his old self.

Andoran

Male Halfling Thief/9 Init: +12 HP: 53/53 AC: 28 Touch: 19; Perception 15 (19 traps; TRAPSPOTTER)
Attacks:
Rapier: +15/+10 (+6 BAB, +6 Dex, +1 size, +2 ench); Bow +14/+9(+1) (+6 BAB, +6 Dex, +1 size, +1 bow/+1 acid arrow)

It's weird . . . it seems like he was faking or something. That fop dude, what was his name? Iormel? he came to Durgin, goaded him into getting the guard to stop helping him and load his weapons himself, then he rode off in the wrong farging direction.
.
I don't know rightly what's going on, but i'm sure that Iormel is involved. When he left Durgin, he smirked like the ship's cat on a fishing boat. Unfortunatley, I don't have any other proof but my gut--as fine tuned as that is, it ain't proof of wrongdoing. I can go spy on HIM though!!

(this is all being said while searching the fallen bodies. I'm mainly looknig for instructions or other identification--but if I come across valuables, so much the better!)

Dungeon Master

@Bofus

All together, the bladebearers have in their possession the following:

4 Longsword made of Red Steel,
6 Masterwork Studded Leather Armor,
3 Masterwork Composite Longbow (+1 STR),
72 Arrows
215 gold pieces
436 silver pieces

@Tirion

The sword carried by Durgin is a Longsword +1 and is made of Red Steel. It radiates an aura of magic similar to the ones in the crates. It is a vile blade that you affects the wielder with draconic strength as it destroys its victims.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 46/46 - AC19;FF16;T17 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Bofus, go and find that slime Iormel. Keep an eye on him. We will have Mantooth run the detect evil on him when we get there. Lets get back and tell the captain what happened.

I also tie some string on blade that Durgin was using and then toss it on top of the pile. By the way, this blade is magic, and just as evil as all the rest of the red blades. Thinking of which, Bofus, I should probably check that one you have. Where did you get the red blade?

Once everything is loaded, we turn the wagon around and head back to the ferry, I am getting this evil cargo across the river as soon as I can before more hobgoblins show up.

Dungeon Master

After Bofus finishes searching the hobgoblins and loading up the wagon with the red blades, Tirion turns the wagon around and steers it bag toward the ferry.

A few questions as you depart.

1. What do you do with Durgin Fortkeep?

2. What do you do with the ring which is currently on Durgin's finger?

3. What do you do with the deceased bladebearer hobgoblins?

4. Where do you take the weapons? Where/who are you taking the wagon to?
