Swirls Mist |
Swirls mist looks to the flagging halfling and the nearly submerged dwarf. Before looking over to the his towering ape only submerged to the hip.
"Would either of you like to ride on my companion? Excluding Rigo he is the fastest of all of us here and could easily carry both of you. Tommorrow I will make Canoe, though it will expend much of my magical power to create the number we will need."

The party has been looking for a suitable camp site in order to settle for the night for a moment Swirl Mist with the help of the party thinks he is on the right track" and that one isn't too far away.
A low, mossy island of mud and peat protrudes from the marsh waters ahead. Two gnarled trees grow fitfully on the rugged ground and sprawled across their turgid root is the ruined and bloody remains of a horse sized owl.
Marrulurk, Agents of the Hand |
Fi'dho carefully approaches the corpse, ranseur out, though not particularly stealthily. He carefully looks about, and suspiciously looks for any other signs of creatures.

Borrum has mixed feeling on seeing the carcass, as a potential camp sight is now the feeding ground of scavengers of the swamp.
He approaches cautiously, reading himself for either they creature that downed this beast or another hiding in ambush.
He will look the creature over, trying to determine how old a kill it is and what may of killed it or tracks.

The scaled druid clenches a fist as he examines the corpse. Memories unbidden of a roiling fog flowing toward him, watching as Catches Crows deformed, blistered and melted.
"No Borrum, I fear that this creature only died recently. As well that whatever did it is still near by. That looks similar to what killed Catches Crows."
The druid glances about the area cautiously
"In addition one of their fallen attracts others, it is best I am not here when they arrive."

So if it was at 50ft. from us, during its surprise round he only could make a move.
It could not gain both sneaking path us AND surprising us in the same "surprise round".
The surprise round began when he appeared, so at 10ft. of us, so only -1 or -2 on my check. Which Galdamor passed with its 25.

Searching the dead carcass reveal a jade band around one leg. The band is inscribed with Elven Letters that spell the name "Liokio"
----
A few minutes pass as you look around unsure if the creature is still out there to get you.
The party hear a strange rush of wind and see soaring overhead five giant owls like the one that lies dead in the clearing. Each bears a rider. A dark haired elf wearing leather armor dyed green and brown to match the colors of the marsh. The flying elves circle the area twice and then alight next to the slain Owl. they study you with narrowed eyes. Then one speaks Who are you ? he demands what are you doing in the marsh ?
Galdamor Graak |
Galdamor moved forward and bow to the elve.
Greetings warriors of the wild. I am Galdamor Graak, Champion of Hextor, and this is my friends and comrades. We are send by Captain Sorana to secure the roads.
We are here, in these marsh to find where the Red Army hide its troops and put a stop in its action in this part of the land.

Rigo let's Galdamor talk, as he's not the most diplomatic of sorts...

We do not care much for the humans and have no knowledge of a Red army you speak of he replied not only with disdain but with controlled rampaging emotions as he dismount and gets himself closed to the corps
To clear the roads you say? he continues his eyes still fixed on the body
Well then you are far from your job assignment there are no roads here this is the Marsh and it is not yours to deal with he continues as he takes a few other step forward Next you are going to tell me you have nothing to do with this he ask nodding to the carcass. You can almost see the anger in his eyes and the tension in his voice has the others elves on edge

Galdamor looked right into the eyes of the elf and said.
Don't you see our burns ? or are you blind ? A strange creature attacked us, wrapping us in a fog of acid. Like this beast you seemed to like.
When we try to fight back, the creature fled in the water, hiding.
May be are you too far from Civilization but for your information, a powerful army of hobgoblins and creatures like giant flying lizard, manticores and the like had gathering its force near Drealin Ferry. They are well organized, well trained and sooner than you expect they will be at your door, taking what you thought was yours.

"What do you really want, elf?" Rigo says with a sigh. Looking at his compatriots, he explains. "The elf would have to be an idiot to think we killed the owl using acid, and then sprayed ourselves with acid just to cover it. He knows we didn't kill the owl. He obviously wants something, and he's pretending to be stupid in order to accuse us of killing the owl so he can get us to do something he wants done. So I want to know why he's wanting outsiders to do something." The catfolk spits to the side. "I'm really getting tired of people making up shtock to get me to do shtock they don't want to do..."
DM Greg |
That is what the Marsh is for. To prevent footsloging humans, greenskin and everyone else to bother us. he replied his eyes still mostly focus on the dead carcass
That i want something or not isn't the matter. You will accompany us so that the Speaker will converse with you.
He turns to address everyone
Since we will be flying we have no room fore the animal companion. He will have to remain on foot and will be guided by a ranger. And our passengers blindfolded during the trip

If no female elves, then the least offensive to the eyes. Yes, if Borrum has to ride "coach", he will attempt to choose his seat.
"Come on, let's get dis over wit."
Rigo'Sharva |
Rigo shakes his head. "Do you really want to blindfold and carry a cat on your bird's backs? Birds and Cats are not exactly natural allies..." He laughs.

It died like catches crows, and its master as well. A fate I would not wish on the most bitter of enemies
And seems to visibly release whatever fury he held in at the moment, evaporating like fog to the rising sun.
" know that whoever it is you seek they no longer appear to be here. Before you arrived and after the creature left we had a few minutes to search. There are no corpses here other than the birds. If you come seeking vengeance then I will tell you everything I saw of the creature that did this."
The lizardman states with a lingering strain of hatred in his voice.
" This is a fate I would not wish on any being, one of my companions died a similar fate as I watched. I hope you choke to death on a fish bone Elf but know that I will endeavor to kill any creatures like that I see."

"Unlike my dwarf companion, I have no wish to die today. You wish me to ride with you on your bird, blindfolded, making it child's play to push me off once we are in the sky. I know you not at all elf, I have no reason to trust you. If you want me to walk with you through the swamp, unblindfolded, or even ride without blind fold, I can do that. But, only a fool puts his life into the hands of strangers he has no reason to trust, especially when those strangers have accused him of murder." The catfolk cracks his neck as he watches the elves. "Unless of course you're willing to let me ride with a dagger at your neck so I can slit your throat so you can't throw me off."

The sun will be setting in less than an hour, and we must depart we have a long way to fly and not much time to do so. he says in common to the others elves
He address Swirl mist
free advice: The march is home to giant crocodiles, wasp, stirges among its denizens. They won't be very receptive to your handling skill i am afraid.
We will bring the dwarf back if you intent to stay here. Tomorrow in the afternoon

"Galdamor, are we going or staying? Much as I dislike them the elves and their mounts are going to be faster by far than we will be in travel. They could have very easily kill us all but descended to speak instead. Do you feel we have to the time to spend that refusing such quick travel would permit? Much as they do not believe it the Red hand marches onward."
The Lizardman asks, obviously still displeased but seeming more inclined to ride the birds than slog through the shallows of the bog.
Galdamor Graak |
They don't seem concerned about the Red Hand Army and don't have seen one of their monster or their troops. So our mission here is finished.
Let them find by themselves the danger of our ennemy, they will crall back to us when the time come.
We head back to the road.
Borrum, get off the bird.
Borrum Orcbane |
Raising a corner of his blindfold, he looks in the elven leaders direction and asks, "Hey Elf leader, cuz Eyes doughnut what else ta call yous, how long will it take ta slog back out ah da marsh an get back ta da road? Ah day?"
"Yous could take meez back ta da road, just az easy az bringin' meez here, right?"
He turns to Gladamor next and continues, "Gladamor, awl dat water is makin' meez chafe under da armor. How often yous think Eyes will beez able ta ride ah big bird like dis?"
"Remember Derlin's Ferry took ah bit ah convincin' ta make dem see da danger, but Lord Hextor made dem see in da end. Maybez day doughnut have ah god da swear da, an' so can knot make dat promise. Des could beez new converts da Lord Hextor."

Swirls mist sighs
"It is not something I felt to share in the long days we have had but know that there are more who live in this land than just condescending elves. Once I was one of the scaled ones who lived in the Blackfens. I no longer have a family name from them but I am still of the land. That creatures scales, acidic breath and overall strangeness makes me think that the Red Hand have something to do with it. Working with the elves is a lesser concern to letting whatever that creature was live in this land and breed. If it is your desire to remain you are welcome but I will be going to see what the leader of these elves have to say. Carry a jar of dust with you so we can easily determine where to meet."
Swirls has no intention of staying here, he really dislikes these bird people (If you'll recall back at the beginning he made references to having brought down aerial combatants before. This right here? That reference staring us in the face. Fortunately Swirls mist has got wisdom out the wazoo so I can justify a pragmatic view of friend and foe.
