Question time!
For the DM. I see that most of the items are listed in the party loot spreadsheet and are listed (such as pluses). Will we need to do any identification work on that or are they known?
For the party.
In the Manticore lair's the part finds gold and jewelry: 216 gp, 8 pp , a gold necklace (250gp) and a great looking cloak (250gp)
on the first floor under the massive bed a bag holding 351 gp is to be found
in the small cofers are found 2500 sp, 2100 gp and 120 pp expired notes of credits and the deed to Vraath Keep to the Vraath family
This looks to be the non-loot treasure. Assuming we sell the necklace and cloak thats:
128 PP
3167 GP
2500 SP
Converted all to Gold for easy division makes it 4697 /6 = 782 each and 5/6 GP in party treasure left. For when we get to town that is. Sound reasonable, or wait to see what the other items are, give larger shares to those who don't get magic items?
Borrum Orcbane |
I personally don't worry about magical items that are actually being used by the group as it eventually all evens out and the items are being used to benefit the group.
When loot is sold, I try to look for trades before selling magical gear, as you can normally trade for something of similar value, even if you bundle lesser magical items.
Finally the coinage and gems are then divided equally.
But I am normally good with any method being used or suggested.
Rufa Damnatio |
Honestly I like your method Borrum, and for the same reason. Usually it evens out longterm, and when it doesn't it's usually identifiable enough to fix later on.
Silvanius |
DM Greg, what limitations, if any, are you placing on the wildshapes Silvanius can take?
One other question - was it assumed we sold gear, purchased other stuff and whatnot, or are we simply plodding onwards?
DM Greg |
Form your character has seen at least once in his adventures limited to the MM1 (No legendary template tough) and all the creatures that could fit the Wild shape requirement/limitations that you have encountered thus far (and those in the future too)
The recent loot is not sold and you haven't purchased anything.
Last buy/sell stop you did was in drelin's ferry before going to Jorr's cabin.
The mundane equipment can be stored in the underground Vault of Vraath keep to be retried on the way back.
After the big fight with the hobgolbin you spent the night at the keep. Found the vault in the morning and then went north to Skull gorges Bridge
Silvanius |
Hello everyone, I would like to let you know that I will not continue playing this game with all of you.
It is with a lot of discomfort, and a sense of having bitten a lot more than I can chew that I realized I cannot keep up with all the games I am currently involved with - I think it was maybe a 'noob to the boards' attitude that got me applying to way more games than I can actually keep up with.
PbP, even more than other games requires commitment, and players that can keep the game going forward - unfortunately I cannot be that kind of player for such a massive amount of games, so I will step back and allow someone else to step in, someone that can be as proactive as this game deserves, as well as the others, with an actual rich and valid contribution - that is the stuff RPGs are made of.
I want to offer my apologies, and vow I will not fall into the same mistake again. I have learned my lesson, even though I am harming the games I am currently leaving... I hope there will be a chance to play again with all of you, in a fashion that actually allows me to 'play and participate' as I should, honoring the effort from the other players and GM.
All the best to you.
Borrum Orcbane |
Bummer Silvanius... I completely understand, I have keep my PbP committments to 4-5 games only.
Hope to see you in a future game.
DM Greg... I'll ask a couple of people tonight, but no guarantees.
Rufa Damnatio |
Sad to see you go Silvanius, but understandable. Good luck to you!!
Rufa Damnatio |
So this morning my computer decided to go all screwy on me. I didn't have time to troubleshoot so I'll be looking at it tonight. I'm hoping it's something minor but wanted to give a heads up if I don't post that's why.
Rufa Damnatio |
Computer is fixed. I'll be catching up over the course of this week to get caught back up. Apologies for the delays.
Movin |
Yay I have internet friends now.
So I'm just running off a few assumptions from here. Jorr is a ranger in a forest with a not insignificant desire to murder goblins, I draw the assumption that something as obscure of race as Lizardfolk would make for a "Warning shot" if he found one in his forest. The warning shot got lucky and Swirls ran off, making for a cold reception on both sides. They do share a mutual love of the forest and killing things that mess with it though.
Also I would hope it not unreasonable for Swirls Mist to have asked for a note on the basics of what was expected from him, how much he was getting paid and such. It isn't much of a protection from someone screwing you out of your money because you are an outsider but it is better than nothing.
DM Greg |
Jorr is a ranger that help protecting the town of Drelin's ferry.
There are lots of monster / big creature in the forest it is very dangerous.
Swirls mist you are getting the same deal from the town as everyone else from the party in order to gather info about the Goblin's.
Feel free to look in the loot log for stuff the party has acquired.
Here is a reminder of the post i made concerning you:
You have been tasked by captain sorana of Drelin's ferry to join up with a crew of hired help to clean / investigate the attacks of goblins in the Witchwood forest. You have been told they were supposed to meet Jorr the Ranger (you have meet him a few times).
You went to the cabin and saw signs that he had left.
Traking the party has lead you to Vraath Keep (signs of heavy combat).
you went north and seen tracks going on the N-W trail.
You have been ambush by a goblin scouting force since you set out in the morning from drelin's ferry. You are currently having only 1/2 of you spells (rounded down) per level (but at full hp)
Swirls Mist |
Swirls mist is xenophobic due to his upbringing, the nature of his exile and all that surrounds it has made him a cautious person. As such a great deal of what he says is veiled as he has learned that saying the honest truth gets you nothing but pain.
Having lived where he did in his youth Swirls Mist also has an odd thing about natural terrain and danger. He respects the danger that these creatures present but that does not stop him from eking a living out between their hunting grounds.
I know what the party has and such, but Swirls mist does not. I'm aware that as players you guys are awesome and follow the law of most need for loot. Swirls mist is under the assumption that he is low man on the totem pole and will be getting little beyond what was promised by the guard.
Sorry if I'm not getting all that across in his words and motions, most of my experience for RPGs are face to face and the metric is different.
Swirls Mist |
It isn't pertinent to the plot but how well does an ape hunt in the forest?
survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Not very well it seems.
Swirls Mist |
I just figured it was a good way to intro both my druid and his companion.
though I would love to have a further fleshed out Witchwood, knowing the common hunting grounds of the major predators in the forest could be incredibly useful if we get something pursuing us into it.
Jorr would be a font of knowledge on that sort of stuff having lived in the crazy monster forest for so long.
DM Greg |
I would like to point something about the world of Greyhawk:
Dragon are the stuff of mythical Legends.
like in our world there are lots of Supposed Knowledge about them, but no one really knows.
There are about 2-3 spots where Powerful dragons are rumored to be living in. Like a very Old Black Dragon in a forest in Keoland. But no one has ever made out of that forest and "it" never comes out.
For the Player FYI there are less then a dozen true dragon alive in the World and they aren't directly active in the mortal's affair.
Swirls Mist |
Thanks for the info on Greyhawk, I will admit I never had the chance to get much of the settings lore what with being a johnny come lately on the RPG scene in general. I read the information you had in the campaign setting but it made little sense without the context of the rest of the greyhawk setting.
I'll get my spell list made up by the time we march out to get murdered by that green.
DM Greg |
Greyhawk is the first D&D world published.
it is a very low magic world.
Still using the kingdom of Keoland who is in the top 3 power of the world there is only 3 Archmage around.
and i would say that including the circle of 8 there is about less than 40 Archmage in the world...
Also the gods don't manifest in the world, no avatar etc... they stay in the Heavens (in fact all of them made a pact and therefore can not set foot on the world)
And this is the Reason why Iuz is so dam powerful. he is a 1/2 demon and 1/2 God who has opened a portal to the outerplanes.
like any other world Greyhawk has its share of secrets and a rather long fleshed out history.
but unlike the Forgotten Realm its on the low end of the power spectrum.
Not that many high level people (and they are mostly martial classes) and while there are more high level divine spellcasters i would say that there are less then 500 people able to cast 8th and 9th level spells.
Swirls Mist |
Alrighty, I can dig it. Also the only *deity* who can mess with the prime is names lulz?
Swirls Mist |
I had hoped I was reading that wrong, my suspension of disbelief breaks when something like "For the Lulz!" becomes a viable fantasy battlecry.
Looks like the Tzeentch of the setting. He shows up to cause trouble and gets to watch as people fall into line like puppets, as is his right because he is so very clever.
Rufa Damnatio |
Hate to say this considering I'm just now recovering from my computer issues reliably, but next week I'll be out of town for work and unable to post. Please bot Rufa as necessary.
Swirls Mist |
It sucks that you won't be here for this next piece. Least you heard about it now rather then getting it dropped on you the day of though.
That big green lizard on the bridge is going to be a pain to deal with.
Though I will be interested to see your responses when you come back. Swirls Mist has a spell that might just even the playing field on that scaly flying cheater.
Also I feel that I am leapfrogging everyone right now on post speed, so I'm going to wait for someone else to react at the most recent gameplay post before I go.
Swirls Mist |
Hey, could we get rufa to roll a knowledge arcane check on the dragon from our various discussions on the topic of the green dragon? If not swirls mist is about to prepare protection from fire in the mistaken understandng that all dragons do the same things.
I gotta say if we can figure out a way to split this combat, and seperate chunks of these guys from the group life will be much easier. Hrmm.. dragons are arrogant. I think I have an idea.
Swirls Mist |
Huh, alright then I might need to change my character purchases. There is no way a l5 scrub like me is going to have lucked out into a set of dragonscale armor and shield without gm fiat in a setting where they are legends.
Think ill see if races of the wild have a wood armor type that will work for me.
I had just figured it was one of those uneducated fairytale lore says this, but a devoted arcane researcher knows more things for dragon lore. Perhaps we should kill it and drink its blood to gain its power and knowledge.
At least fire resistance will help against the hell hounds, this ought to be interesting.
Swirls Mist |
Got it, what with coming from a swampy area you cool with me calling it the hardest scales off the oldest crocodiles in the area? Fantasy land ones do grow to elephant proportions so it wouldnt be an impossible stretch.
