Oh yeah, I recognized the reference right away, I'm a huge Tarantino fan. It's just that the color assignments match each character particularly well imo.
{Well I could also have gone with Clue but then someone would have had to be Ms. Peacock and there is no one in our little band with a good enough hat to pull it off.}
{Oh and while I have you here, our thief should be given an xp for the notable green treasure that none of us know about.}
DM Frogfoot |
I hated her, so much... [stammers] it-it- the f - it -flam - flames. Flames, on the side of my face, breathing-breathl- heaving breaths. <--one of my favorite moments
Absolutely right Athena, mark that XP down immediately!
For reference everyone, you should all mark an XP on your character sheet for every. single. 6 or below roll. Even if it feels like you're getting them a lot ;)

"Skillfully done." The wizard nods to Mazatl.
"We are left with the same problem as before but with slightly less information. I suggest Mr. Blue.." Here Chaney nods towards Svog. "Ms White" A nod to Flynn. and Mr. Grey when he arrives look over the property with an eye to it's occupation.""Ms. Green," Nod to Mazatl."Mr. Brown To Aifric. "and Mr. Black" Chaney's hand touches his own chest. "will endeavor to maintain a general overview as the situation unfolds."
Just putting it on this page of the gameplay thread since our OOC side-conversation moved us up a page.
Chaney |
Sorry that I am late, I had some visitors to "dissuade."
"Visitors can be so trying. We should walk. I find the sea air at night so invigorating."
Chaney stands and leaves the inn.
Assuming the others follow and we are out of easy earshot.
"So Ms. White, Mr. Grey, Mr. Blue. Can you do it? Can you get there and find out who is home if what we are looking for is there? The only other path I see is much more active. What say you?"
Mazatl |
Mazatl looked to him as he stood and left, looking down at her meal, mouth twisting slightly, as her eyes narrowed. She carried her food with her as she stood, busing her own plate, as she worked to finish eating before she reached the door.
Chaney |
"And how do they signal us? What do we do whilst they scout?" She looked to Chaney, as he seemed to be the one who knew best what to do and how to do it.
"Mr. Grey can and Ms. White can coordinate for messages Mr. Blue can come to us. As for us we wait. Unless you recommend a more active role?"
{Open to other ideas here. Just thought the bird, shark, and thief might be the best scouts. I suppose we could simply assault the ship without knowing anything if that seems a better idea.}
Aifric |
Aifric looks puzzled. He's trying to remember which one of them is Mr. Blue, but he doesn't want to ask. Aifric himself is Mr. Brown; he won't forget that! Mr. Grey is easy to remember; sharks are grey. And Ms. White somehow fits Athena Flynn. It can't be Mazatl because she's not Mr. Anything. She's Ms. Something or Other. Orange, maybe? No, not Orange. Oh, well. It doesn't matter because she can't be Mr. Blue. Chaney is the one talking, and he wouldn't be calling himself Mr. Something or Other. He would just say "me." So Mr. Blue has to be Feustus. Is Chaney Mr. Black? Feustus should be Mr. Black, but Aifric is pretty sure Feustus is Mr. Blue because he flies in the sky.
Aifric's expression changes, and he looks pleased with himself that figured it out without having to confess he had forgotten who was who. His brow furrows for a moment. Wait! Who is Mr. Blue. Oh, yeah, Feustus.
"Just tell me where to be on the lookout," he says, "or something."
Asking Aifric to remember that much stuff is just asking for trouble. On another note, I hope Aifric is a better getaway driver than Tarantino.
DM Frogfoot |
*chuckling at Aifric*
Svog Kos, you take to the sea once more. Once you reach the boat you can feel vibrations in the water coming from the ship's hull. No sign of the merfolk...
From the skies, Athena, you and Feustus see only one idle sailor on the upper deck of the ship, leaning against a rail and staring out to sea. No sign of other crew. What do you do?
DM Frogfoot |
Looking up out of the water, you can see the silhouette of the sailor leaning against the rail illuminated against the starry sky. Swimming underneath the boat, you come up on the other side and see two options - shimmying up the anchor line, which would take you closer to the upper decks, or try to open one of the ship's side gun-ports to squeeze directly into the lower levels. What do you do?
Chaney |
At the docks
"I will stay here in case they return early. You two should arrange transport. We should need no more than a canoe, but see if you can find a jolly boat just in case."
{basically just letting you know I am here/getting things ready while the attention is on the scouts. I am more than happy waiting for the screaming to start.}
Mazatl |
"Who needs a boat, when you have the good graces of the elements available to you?"
Floaty Elemental: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 5) + 2 = 13 We are doing this. We are making this happen. I was thinking an elemental with a giant lilypad on top of it, like a Lotad would be awesome. :P
Control: 1d4 ⇒ 2 "It should last until I either need to release it for whatever reason, or until either I, or it has been targeted several times."
Either Forceful (lifting) or Hazard (impassable horizontal barrier) makes sense to me.
Chaney |
{I actually don't see a post where Festus picked you up. He also posted that he took off before our beloved leader said he was carrying you. It looks like you may be hanging with the dock party due to poor communication/coordination.}
Mazatl |
"Then we swim. And they're usually pretty friendly unless we do something really stupid. Or force them to do something against their nature. Or catch them on a bad day. And either way, he'll stick around until one of the other conditions is met, possibly longer." Also, forgot the +1 forward to summoning the elemental. So that's actually even higher. :P
Mazatl |
Did you remember your +1 forward on reanimation, Feustus?
"Good day, Friend Elemental. We seek passage to a nearby ship, and quite probably a more hasty retreat -from- said ship afterwards, if you're willing to provide it, uncoerced, I would be quite thankful for the assistance. If not, I will free you, and we will rely on more difficult means."
DM Frogfoot |
When Mazatl touches the surface of the water, she opens a small gateway to the Elemental Plane of Positive Energy, through which life flows. An elemental (reference pic, sorry no lilypad but I hope that's ok) is summoned, stronger than almost any you've seen before, Mazatl. You feel a deep attunement to this majestic elemental, that embodies the forceful tag. Due to rolling a modified 14 I'm flavoring the elemental to be unusually strong and attuned to you. Add 1 to your control pool.
When you summon the elemental, whom you recognize as a him, he is directly at face level with you despite standing with both feet on the ground beneath the waters of the pier. His face is lined and looks impossibly old, but the wooden features smile somewhat as he regards you. The elemental's arms are thin and knobby in contrast to the bulk of his trunk. The elemental kneels so that all of you can climb on top of his head...it's wide enough for you all to be seated comfortably, as if you're sitting in a pile of bracken in the woods.
Mazatl |
When the elemental showed itself to be happy to oblige, Mazatl shifted on board as it were with a smile, "Thank you, sir." She sat down comfortably, and allowed a bit of her power to flow out to the elemental as a more direct thank-you.
DM Frogfoot |
The monk climbs to his feet once more, looking almost as he did when he was alive - with a few major differences, like his throat being torn out and old dried blood covering all of his clothes in the front of him. His eyes glow with the characteristic very faint necromantic blue that all of your minions share.
Mazatl |
"Well, you're welcome to spend the material we can buy wrenches and thatching and food with to buy something a hammer can solve... but it really does seem a waste when you already have the hammer." Mazatl practically glowed with pride, "But The Ancient One is far superior to any boat you may have in mind." Mazatl smiled to Chaney.
