Yeah, there are really no rules for it outside of 3.5. Using called shot variant rules, you can shoot him in the hand and if it's a critical, he'd take some effects and have to make a Reflex Save to hold the item. For this fight and this fight only ... i.e. I'm not setting precedent or making a house rule ... I'll allow the action.

@Nowzai, do you have a reference for shooting at a held object? I don't see it anywhere

You don't think it's an illusion, but you can make a will save to disbelieve if you so desire. Make a perception check for determining if he's a shapechanger as well, although since you never met Zenith prior, you don't really have a baseline to compare.


I've reached the Zenith! Round 1

Init: Nowzai, Magma, Dalamus, Nemoris, Zenith, Epik, Saag

Nowzai hovers behind Magma, watching with a look of concern. Magma moves in close to the dwarf while Dalamus hides behind a column.

Nemoris takes quick aim and fires at the glass sphere, the arrow skips off the edge of the sphere knocking it from the dwarf's hands to fall to the floor ...

.. and it bounces, rolling across the room to settle behind the throne. The dwarf watches it apathetically and then points to Nemoris while he draws his axe, "Death lingers at your side waiting for you to misstep!"

Any action from Epik?

After Epik's action:

Nemoris feels a stabbing pain in his back as a jagged dagger is shoved in and twisted, then ripped out the back. He gags at the force of the blow and the blackened feeling that rolls from the wound. (2 saving throws below) Behind him a bloody dagger-armed Kuo-toa stands, complete in greenish black loose cloth outfit and slippers. Around the dagger swirls black shadowy forms.

The Dice:

Reflex Save to Drop: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18; fail
Item Saving Throw: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28; success

i am going to attack Zenith to soften him up for Epik Grapple

Epik moves into to tangle up the dwarf and while the paladin is able to dodge a quick blow from his axe, the implacable son of Davkhed Splintershield doesn't move a micron and Epik is easily rebuffed.

I've reached the Zenith! Round 2

Init: Nowzai, Magma, Dalamus, Nemoris, Zenith, Epik, Saag

Nowzai causes Epik to grow to massive proportions, while Magma steps away for a strike that the dwarf knocks aside lazily with his shield. (I assume Magma is using his longhammer, so as before, he can't be right next to his opponent unless he is using another weapon)

Dalamus moves to aid Nemoris, but the kuo-toa dodges his strike.

At Nemoris for action. Will need Epik's Round 2 as well

Nemoris steps away and fires into the doorway at the kuo-toa. He strikes it once in the arm tearing through the natural armored exterior of the creature.

Inside Zenith takes a powerful swing at Epik, fighting to not provide an opening more so that looking for a weak spot. The dwarf buries his axe in the weakened paladin's chest and the human falls to his knees and then pitches face forward onto the stone.

The kuo-toa engages Dalamus swinging with its dagger and then kicking out with its feet, scratching the rogue once with his shadow-shrouded dagger. (Save below)

I've reached the Zenith! Round 3

Init: Nowzai, Magma, Dalamus, Nemoris, Zenith, Epik, Saag

Nowzai whips out a wand and shortly thereafter the sphere floats over toward him, which he reaches out and takes

Nowzai:
As soon as your hand touches the sphere, you see two red eyes floating inside the sphere. A whispery sound, like air escaping from a valve fills your mind

Nowzai & Auran:
Master, how may I serve you?

Magma flails out with his longhammer but the dwarf turns his body and takes the blow on his massive plated armor. Dalamus, drained of a bit of his strength, stabs out but the kuo-toa dodges it.

Nemoris fires three arrows, two of which miss just barely, but the third sticks right in the side of the kuo-toa's head, dropping it soundly.

The dwarf stands his ground as Epik bleeds on the ground near him, holding his shield up defensively and twirling his axe in a defensive arc.

Dalamus will pick up the magical dagger, then head along the western wall, attempting to sneak by without Zenith noticing me.

Should we take down the dwarf? I don't have a way to subdue him, and I'm concerned at what more could be coming our way.

What is this circle Nowazi? What about that sphere?

Nothing back on that knowledge religion roll? Not sure if everything in here is arcane or not, but wanted to be sure...

By the way, Hero Lab can output a format that works with the paizo boards. It's under File, export I believe. Then click the BBcode tab and press copy. Paste it under your profile and bam, all info there on the boards for you.

I know...I did that in HeroLab, I just need to update it on Paizo when/if I ever get all my issues sorted....of course, like I eluded to, you like to keep adding tot he collection. Still very cool though, will make life a lot easier! BTW, it is file > Output hero statblock in case anyone else wants to do that as well.
