Nowzai activates his slippers and advances into the room, climbing the eastern wall once again. The invisible stalker and elemental fly in directly behind him, moving to surround the lich.

Nowzai stands ready with a greater dispel on the tip of his tongue, ready to counter whatever the lich tries to cast.

The air elemental ascends to the ceiling in a gust of wind. It slams the lich with its long limbs, invisible but for the contrails they leave as they strike.

Completely unseen, the invisible stalker flies up behind the lich, moving to a flanking position before striking.

Sam will cast True Strike from his wand and then will fly up to try and find a good angle to rush the lich in the next round to try and bring him to the ground


The Nexus Redux Round 1

Epik moves into the room followed quickly by Nowzai's elementals which hammer out at the lich. The air elemental hammers the lich hard, causing a crunching sound of bone followed by a surge of black energy that both sucks at the elemental force and spawns a multi-armed red insectoid creature between it and Epik.

The elemental takes 4d8 ⇒ (5, 1, 1, 5) = 12 negative energy damage and received 2d4 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4 negative levels and must make a DC21 Will Save or be stunned for 1 round.

The stalker follows suit flying to the east side to flank the lich. As it does so, an arcane glyph appears in the air sending a burst of lethargic energy that covers everyone who can see it. You all note that you can actually see the faint form of the stalker in the room.Everyone make a DC22 Will Save or be slowed for 15 rounds. (If the stalked makes its save it will hit the lich as well and take 4d8 ⇒ (7, 1, 6, 5) = 19 negative energy damage and takes 2d4 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4 negative levels) and must make a DC21 Will Save or be stunned for 1 round.

Sam and Nowzai prep spells and prepare to engage.

The red creature slashes at Epik with a blurring series of blows from its swords, claw and bite. It gets a couple through and paralyzing poison courses through the paladin's veins.

The lich shouts, "Now, Greezcik, kill the archer" and begins to cast a spell.

Appearing behind Nemoris is an imp. It reaches out with a purple glowing hand to touch the ranger. Nemoris feels a cold grasp on his heart and it stops. He has a moment's consciousness to attempt to resist it. see below, this is a life changing moment.

The lich completes his spell to summon, but Nowzai interrupts it with a word and it fizzles. It screams, "NOOOOO! Greezcik! The wizard, the wizard!!!!"

The Nexus Redux Round 2

Rebaselined Init: Dalamus, Magma, Nemoris, Epik, Nowzai, Sam, Greezcik, Myrakul, Mastiff, Babau

The shadowy mastiff barks aloud before biting and slinging it's massive tail at Dalamus, it's howl sending a tightening fear amongst all who hear it. (Everyone not immune to fear make a DC16 Will Save or be panicked for 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds). Dalamus is able to fend off the attacks, though.

On the other side of the room, the murderous demon points at Nowzai and whispers an incantation. Nowzai's stoneskin disappears. He then steps back into the shadow. (Perception DC42 to spot)

Dalamus rails at the dog and while his first strike appears to be good, the shadowy nature of the animal confuses him and he misses. His second strike is off as well, but the rogue gets the hang of it and drives home his third strike leaving a telling blow. (It is permanently concealed, so roll 50% miss chance for every attack)

Dalamus:

Yes, finally, this thing reacts to me! Kill it, kill it! Shadow blood ...

Magma reaches across the archer behind him and nearly bats the imp out of the sky. Bloodied and broken, it still hangs on by a thread, screaming in anger at the stonechilde.

Nemoris (Yes, you take the 40ish damage for making the save. When you get a chance, update your tagline, it's still level 10)) fires a series of arrows at the lich, the first two simultaneously and they hammer into the undead wizard. The wall of wind then springs up sending the remaining arrows flying away. It's eyes narrow in anger at Nemoris, but then obviously dismiss the ranger. His actions however draw a quick stab from the imp's stinger.

Epik engages in a deadly exchange of blades with the multilimbed outsider in front of him. Dodging, weaving and using his armor to his benefit, he cuts two massive furrows through the creature's chitin and before the green ichor is able to spray out, his third strike severs its head and it disappears in a flash of light as quickly as it appeared.

Nowzai targets the fire with dispelling energy, but the powerful spell is ill cast and the fire seems to be unaffected. Sam watches and follows up with his own spell and after a moment's hesitation, the flame flickers and disappears.

Also disappearing is the imp, who concentrates studying Nemoris and Magma carefully and then blinks out of sight.

The lich, curses aloud in Infernal as he watches the fire go out, and then pulls his rod and casts his spells. The first spell is a wave of negative energy. Everyone take 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22 negative energy damage. Make a DC23 Will Save for half. If you take damage, you gain bleed 2.

Its second spell, it casts and then points at Sam, stating angrily "Feed." (Sam, make a DC20 Will Save or be overcome with hunger for dead flesh and you must move to the nearest corps (rakshasha) and begin to eat it. You may make a Will Save every round if you fail)

The babau targets Sam with a dispel, causing the magus's herosim to drop and the mastiff once again attacks Dalamus and misses.

The Nexus Redux Round 3

Rebaselined Init: Dalamus, Magma, Nowzai, Sam, Nemoris, Epik, Greezcik, Myrakul, Mastiff, Babau

If Dalamus was forgetting the prot evil, he probably passed that first save. Post a retcon action for Round 2 along with your Round 3 action if that's the case

Magma stands stunned for a round as Nemoris and Epik await Sam's spell.

Nowzai strikes the lich with a green blast of energy causing a portion of it's clothing and body to evaporate into oblivion. His elementals flee in two different directions and the lich barely notices their departure, his eyes burning holes through the air at Nowzai.

His anger at the wizard is shortlived as Sam drops the windwall with a well-placed dispel magic and the two archers unleash arrows on the unsuspecting undead summoner. The lich recoils from the several hits, Epik's arrow still burning where the holiness causes the lich's body to smoke.

The lich responds with a curse and makes a dismissive gesture that the casters note is ending a spell of some sort. It again gestures with the wand and the lich then disappears from sight. (Vanish)

The shadow mastiff continues to attack Dalamus (unless he actually flees and then I'll retcon this) and just as it almost closes its jaws on the rogue, it recoils from the protection spell.

The babau emerges from the shadows again to cast a dispel on Sam dispelling the magus's fly enchantment. It fades back into the shadowy cavern. (DC41 to spot)

The Nexus Redux Round 4

From last round ... Dalamus strikes out at the dog, scoring a vicious hits and sending the dog staggering ... it's life force ebbing away.

Dalamus continues his onslaught and severs the creature's head with a single blow ... his sword vibrating with ecstasy. Dalamus has a move action remaining this round.

Magma moves out of the way for Nemoris and does something ...

Nowzai readies a counterspell as Sam blasts the area where the lich disappeared with an explosion of glittering motes. The undead diabolist's form is outlined clearly about 5 feet away from where it was previously. Epik and Nemoris take aim.

The arrows are punishing, Nemoris' all hitting in nearly the same spot and tearing a huge chunk of dead flesh out of the center of the creature. Epik's strike in multiple locations searing the unholy creation with holy fire.

It screams in rage and pain and begins to cast a spell which Nowzai quickly identifies as a Summon Monster IV and reverses the energy of the spell causing it to fizzle in the lich's hands. The undead creature again rages and waves its rod once again, recreating the roaring wall of wind around itself. It drops the rod to the floor with a clatter.

Nearby the dispel sniper babau throws another dispel against Nowzai taking out his shield and fades back into the shadows. (from last round ... targeted dispels should continue to attack various spells ... so while Sam's fly is up, the dispel needs to attack the other buffs. Doing those after Nowzai below ... Sam loses mirror image (having lost heroism a couple rounds ago)

Rebaselined Init: Dalamus, Magma, Sam, Nemoris, Epik, Myrakul, Nowzai, Babau

Dalamus slinks over to look for the babau striking at it as it lurks in the shadows cutting into it twice.

Magma follows suit, hammering blows up into the flying lich, smashing pieces of bone away reaching out through the glitterdust cloud with his extended reach and larger weapon. The arcane nature of the creature prevents most of the damage, but some gets through regardless.

Sam directs fire as Nemoris, noting the windwall, fires a volley into the babau, cutting it down.

Epik runs up under the creature and channels a tremendous burst of positive energy that burns at the creature from below. The lich screams in agony as the holy light sears away its body from the bottom to the top.

Near simultaneously, the paladin is engulfed in black flame as it returns this round, the unholy energy surrounding him and cutting at his soul. A flicker of it touches the lich as its body crumbles into the last burning cinder and the flame surges upward for a moment before it returns to what it looked like when you entered the room. Epik screams in pain for what feels like an eternity.

Epik take 4d8 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 1) = 14 negative energy damage and 2d4 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4 negative levels.

Epik:
As the flame washes over you in an agony of filth that touches at your connection with your goddess like a raw nerve, you become immediately aware of two things. One, the lich's soul is contained within this flame ... it is his phylactery. And two, you realize you can pull the flame to within yourself, partitioning a piece of your soul, but essentially preventing it from existing as long as you live. (In game terms, if you pull the fire into your soul, the HP damage is permanent as are the negative levels. The negative levels can be restored through restorative magic, but the HPs will be gone forever. Alternatively you can step out of the flame and both HP and neg levels will be temporary, leaving the bonfire to burn)

END COMBAT! Congrats on defeating your first lich ... hope you enjoyed the fight and didn't find the multi-month effort on the boards to be too cumbersome. I'll post Myaruk's stat block in discussion for grins.
