What is everyone status?

i still have a couple of healing potions.
i will pour a CLW potion down Dalamus throat.

Does Tongueater body shrink back to normal? i will search the body after taking care of Dalamus.

Let search the rest of the Inn before we head downstairs and take that door off it's hinges.

I'm down to half health, but don't think I need a potion now unless we plan on a 3rd fight today. Mainly happy I won't turn into a baboon!

I'll help search the bodies, and then I think we need to figure out a safe place to rest, and also see about getting into the room in the basement.

I will pour the acid where I said I would before and then help with the search making sure I stop by the gardening shed to get an axe and a saw. As well as help search the bodies and take Tork's key rind to assist with the search.

I will also check my weapon for any fouling and reload with a 3/3 split. 3 normal rounds 3 silver.

Recovery from Kitchen fight

The party quickly loots the bodies and finds a few limited items (see discussion tab for all loot and loot discussion ... Magma to track still)

One particular thing catches Nemoris' attention

Nemoris:
A bone/horn armband engraved with humans eating animals who are in turn eating animals resonates with you in a disturbing way. It's similar to the detect lycanthropy feeling you had earlier, but somewhat different.

Malcolm drops the acid on the floor and it begins to sizzle and burn, he grabs the keys from the loot pile while the rest of you wait and Magma quizzes the boy, Pad.

The child is pale as a sheet, but the look of relief on his face is evident, "Oh my, holy gods of all that is good, I can't believe that you killed him he was so strong and I couldnt resist and couldnt say what I wanted to say and he was so mean and did you kill Audrina and Caitlin they were really nice I cant believe they became those things and oh I just remembered he said I would be like them tomorrow does that mean I'm going to turn into those things too I dont think that would feel very good please make sure that doesnt happen to me and what about dead people it cant happen to them can it my dad wont turn into one after hes dead right?" the boy takes a breath, and tries hard not to cry.

You hear the people in the inn starting to move around. The commotion of the battle has woken up many of them.

All, roll your own potion healing. 1d8+1 for CLW, 2d8+3 for CMW

Experience for the encounter: everyone (except Nowzai, sorry) receives 1,500xp ... this may put some of you over level 4. You can advance once you return to town for at least a couple hours

Male Fetchling Slayer 7/ Red Mantis 5

Do you want Magma to roll the CLW that he used on Dal?

Dalamus will stand and ask Pad a couple questions....gently.

"Pad...Calm down, it is all over now. We will not let anything happen to you. Where is your father, is he here at the inn? Pad....We also are looking for some friends that he had captured, and we think they are down stairs. Is there anything you can tell us that would help us rescue them from their prison?"

Pad did Tongueater Bite You?

Male Stonechild Stonechild 4 / Fighter 5/ Cleric 1/ Stalwart defender 1 (HP 156 AC 29) (Fort 19 Reflex 10 Will 11) alignment LN

Pad, did Tongueater have any friends here at the Inn?

Male Human Gunslinger lvl 6 (AC 21 / HP 73 / Init +7 / Fort +9 / Ref +12 / Will +6)

I will kneel down and put my hand on Pad's shoulder. Pad, I am glad you are ok. I was worried about you. I am sorry about your father, I will assist you in providing him a proper burial when we get you back to the city. We also know several high ranked clerics there, I am sure one of them can help you with Tork's curse. We do have a few questions I hope you can help us with.

What can you tell me of the priest who came here? He was carrying several wands that are needed to save the city and we are looking for them. Do you know of any hidden rooms in the inn that Tork might have hidden them? Also, I am looking for a flame haired priestess of Hextor, have you seen here around here? Do you know what that symbol on Tork's face his? Do you know who Tork trapped in the room below?

Kitchen

The boy looks up at the group of you surrounding him, trembling, but trying to get a hold of himself, "My dad is dead. You saw him ... out there with the dinos."[/b] he coughs once and looks to the side, forcing the tears back and pulling down his shirt to show a festering bite wound on his shoulder, "That thing bit me and said I'd be part of the family by high sun today."

He shivers, thinking of what that means, "The priestess, her name was Treel I think, knew Tor ... err, Tongueater. I think they were boyfriend and girlfriend. I overheard them planning to rob the priest of something he had that was very valuable. I guess that's why Tongueater killed my father and took over the inn, to wait for the priest to come back with whatever he got in the city. They stole what they needed and the priestess left, so I told the priest. He got really angry and confronted Tongueater and his lackeys ... he killed a bunch of them, especially when Shensen came back from her walking. She's the one trapped downstairs in the well."

Searching the Inn

Now that the inn is awake ... and everyone is watching you, you are able to search around quickly. You don't find anything else of interest except the strongbox for the Inn's treasury that it looks like Tongueater never was able to open. Pad says he has the key stashed away in his room and asks if he can keep the money to run the inn now that his father is gone.

The only area you are unable to access is the warped door, currently. Malcolm's acid has eaten a small hole through the wood and by shouting down, he can hear a faint but unintelligible reply that is defintely something alive.

Male Stonechild Stonechild 4 / Fighter 5/ Cleric 1/ Stalwart defender 1 (HP 156 AC 29) (Fort 19 Reflex 10 Will 11) alignment LN

What do we know about were-creatures?

Pad, what do you want to do about your father?

We must return to the Cauldron with Sacrem and Nowzai.

Let's Get Shensen free and head back to Cauldron.

Kitchen

Werecreatures: Knowledge Arcana (Trained Only) (DC16):
Lycanthropy is a disease. Genetically passed down from natural lycan to natural lycan. One can only be a natural lycanthrope by birth. A natural lycanthrope can change form at will. Their bite is contagious. If they pass the disease on to someone, that someone will become an afflicted lycanthrope after the disease incubates (72 hours). Before that time, the disease can be easily healed. After that time, it can be healed but it takes much more effort. After that incubation period, an afflicted lycanthrope will transform during the 3 days of the full moon. They can attempt to resist this transformation. There are some connections between the "father" natural lycan and the afflicted lycans that are as yet not understood. The bite of afflicted lycans is not contagious.

Pad says, "We should bury him"

Male Stonechild Stonechild 4 / Fighter 5/ Cleric 1/ Stalwart defender 1 (HP 156 AC 29) (Fort 19 Reflex 10 Will 11) alignment LN

Before we go we will bury Pad father.

I'd like to hang onto that bracer. If I can't tell where it came from or who had it I'll ask Pad if he's seen it before.

If I focus on it, can I determine anything else?

Outside of that I'll recommend we rescue Shensen as soon as possible (would any of the keys help with that?) and then look into getting our dead back to town as well as Pad.

"Does anyone know much about these creatures and how infectious they are? I know at least a few of us have bites as well as Pad. Let's look at these wounds and see what can be done."

Male Human Gunslinger lvl 6 (AC 21 / HP 73 / Init +7 / Fort +9 / Ref +12 / Will +6)

Pad, I would like to bring you to the city first to meet with the clerics to see if there is a possible cure for your infection. As for running the Inn, I assume your father left a will of some sort, maybe in the lockbox, with his wishes? If not, I am not sure as to the legality of having a child run an Inn, we would need to engage the local law to help sort that out. But I will assist in any way that I can to make sure your wishes are heard and taken into account. You are a clever lad, did you by chance hear where the priestess was taking the wands? Or why?

Flex time in effect, but this time I need to know if you're involved in an event since time could be a factor shortly. Note by dawn you will all be fatigued (generally an across the board -2 ... details on the SRD) from not sleeping

Kitchen

It's about 3:30 in the morning following the fight/search of the room

Pad looks up at you, "I don't know what a will is but my dad said we don't answer to any lord or government or anything. That we own this land and the good people of Cauldron and Hollowsky and other places support us with their staying here and eating."

Investigating the wound, you notice it's pussy and green and pulses with a faint motion. The bite marks are inflamed and red in many places

Heal DC20:
There is some distinct infection, but it looks like it's going away. However, knowing what you do about disease, you're guessing its moving to some other part of the body. You guess you have about 6 to 9 hours until its too late for traditional medicines and simple spells, which lines up with "high sun" as Pad said

Outside the Inn

Burying Armand will take roughly 1 hour

The gardening room has plenty of implements to accomplish the job with 3 people.

Anything you want to say?
.

The Inn guests and remaining employees

Interviewing guests will take some time ... estimate 15 minutes per person you wish to interview

Some hang around to watch and question. Others start to prepare to depart early.

Anything specific you want to do with them?
.

The Well

Digging into the well will take 2 hours for 1 person, 1.5 hours for 2 and 1 hour for more than 2

Stables

2 of the 3 horses are healthy to ride if malnourished. It's 24 miles to Cauldron.

i am go to dig the grave some where close to the Inn.
i am going to assume Pad is correct about high noon being his dead line and start directly for Cauldron at first light.

I will say prayers to Mordin and St Cuthbert

Mordin Lord of the Earth , Give us the strength to see Justice done for All beings of the world That Thy Father has created and, more so, our enemies. Free our soul and heart from sin, from partiality, from egoism and from cowardice so that we can be worthy of Thy sacrifice. Let Thy Spirit fall upon us all, The Knights of the Justice, so that it may render us as convinced and sincere ambassadors of Peace and Justice among our brothers and, especially, among all those who do not believe in Thee. Give us Faith to face all the problems of everyday life and to deserve the day to approach Thy presence humbly but without fear.

i will wrap Sacrem body and head in a Blanket and put it on one of the horses and Pad on the other, taking the sick one in tow.

Who can we leave in charge of the Inn until Pad gets back with help?

Male Stonechild Stonechild 4 / Fighter 5/ Cleric 1/ Stalwart defender 1 (HP 156 AC 29) (Fort 19 Reflex 10 Will 11) alignment LN

I don't think we have time for much else if we are going to get the boy back to Cauldron in time. It took us almost all day to walk here, didn't it? Why don't you send the boy and I (or anyone else who is going to volunteer) back to town on the horses? If two of us want to go, magical healing or a potion should fix up the third horse.

We can make better time, and be back in Cauldron before midday, which hopefully leaves us plenty of time to work on a cure. I can also take Nowzai if we can pool our funds. We'll spend today and this evening resting in town, and then the three of us can ride back tomorrow (or the day after if more time is needed).

I will help with the well, we need two more to aid with the well, so that we can get this done fast.

Kitchen

In response to Epik's question, Pad says "I don't know about any wands but I guess that could be it? Tork's girlfriend was close enough for him to go visit and come back in the same day."

The crowd mumbles and murmurs but disperses based on Epik's command. No one steps up as a cleric.

Resting will take 8 hours

Unburdened light horses can travel at 5 miles per hour. Burdened (over 200 lbs) horses travel at 3.5 miles/hour. Horses can be pushed to double that speed but can take lethal damage in the process

The Well

After some work the group pounds through the ceiling of the well room beneath. An icy blast of air comes through and the party looks down into the room. A circular well boarded up with planks is in the southern part of the room. The entire northern half of the room is lined with frost along the walls and the door. A wooden box is upended near the warped wooden door and a brownish-red fungus is scattered around the door area.

Huddled in the southern corner, alive, but barely moving is a dark-skinned, white-haired, slender and athletic half-elven woman. She is shivering and mumbling something unintelligble.

Heal DC15 if she's inspected closely:
The woman is dehydrated, frost-bitten, and feverish

Think that's heavy horses, but still, 6 mph unburdened and 4 mph burdened doesn't leave us with a lot of time. I'm not small enough to not be a burdened load, so at 4 mph I think we're still looking at 6 hours of travel to make it back. Pretty sure I pulled those straight off the chart from the SRD (spotting you 25 lbs cuz I'm nice), but feel free to check me ... the SRD doesn't pass the firewall filter here. I believe in an earlier stable post, I gave Nemoris the info on the horse in a Wild Empathy spoiler. Recall that Nowzai is in the bag of holding.

You are lucky to be alive, it was very smart of you to use the mold, it saved your life but also almost ended it.

I am sorry to tell you, Sacrem is dead, we arrived to late to save him. Pad said you assisted him in defeating many of Tongueaters minions but you were overcome.

Can you tell me if you knew about the wands Sacrem was carrying and why Triel and Tongueater were after them?

Return to Cauldron - Nemoris

Pad is a bit saddened that he won't be able to stay for his father's burial, but the fear of turning into a werebaboon keeps him focused. Nemoris is able to get the boy up and going, gathering funds from everyone and heading out with Nowzai in tow as well.

Hustle at all or just press at a regular pace?

The Well

I think we'll definitely go normal pace until daybreak. From there depending on how the horses are doing we might go a bit faster, but definitely don't want to risk them. I'll also have my potion of cure moderate handy, in case we get into any trouble.

I'll see you in a few days friends, hopefully with the elder here in much better shape as well!

The Well

A look of sadness crosses her face as she relaxes, "I watched him die ... it's why I ran in here. That creature overwhelmed us. The world is lessened by the loss of Sarcem. He was a good man."

Answering your other questions, she says, "I'm thankful you rid the world of that foul thing, and I'll pray to Fharlangan that Pad makes it safely through this. I wish I had the capacity to heal him, but I haven't been in the service to my God that long."

She scratches her head and sits down, grabbing another drink of water, "Can I get something hot? Tea, maybe ... if the kettle isn't destroyed. Uh, Triel ... where do I start. Sarcem came through a couple of weeks ago with her, a halfling and a couple of armed guards. Don't recall the halfling's name .. .Khel or Keel or something like that. He was an arcane of some sort ... they spook me a bit. She'd hired on to protect him and the wands he was going to pick up in Sasserine. He picked me up on the way to assist with the paths and to ensure we made good time using the gifts that nature and Fharlangan have given me. Triel and her crew were a competent guard unit and kept the creatures and even a couple of bandit raids at bay, although ..." She pauses for a moment, musing, "Maybe she staged it?"

Shrugging, she continues, "Fast forward to when we returned to the Lucky Monkey after Sarcem successfully retrieved all 8 wands from the church in Sasserine. I went out in the morning for my daily walk and when I returned, I saw Triel and the halfling talking to a creepy half-orc and then jetting off into the jungle. Sensing something was wrong, I followed them to a cleverly hidden cave entrance a few miles from here and started to enter. It got really dark and I got scared ... there were ... creatures ... up ahead and I decided Sarcem would know what was up." She sips again.

"And I was right ... when I got back, Sarcem was in a rage. Someone had stolen the wands from him and when I told him that Triel and Kel? ... I think that's his name ... had snuck off, he immediately wanted to follow them. I told him about the creepy half-orc, but the only half-orc we knew was Tork, the new innkeeper. I thought that whole exchange was suspect to begin with and so we decided to hit him up. That's when the world went upside-down. Tork became Tongueater as did half the mercs and we started a massive fight eventually fleeing into the basement where Sarcem and the others were killed and I fled."

"Shensen, can you lead us to the cave in the morning? It's imperative that we recover the wands and return them to Cauldron before the floods start."

I will look around for something to make Shensen some tea or coffee, what ever is available.

"Let me see if I can find you something hot to drink.

Can you tell me if you have also seen another woman with Triel? Green eyes slightly lighter than mine, raven colored straight hair, also like mine. She is my twin sister Katrina, and has been seen recently with Triel.

As Epik said, would you be able to show us where the cave is once our friend returns with Pad? Do you know if we have time to wait?
