in the past when we have had conflicting bids, we have discussed and usually one person has a better sue for the item. It has worked out well so far....for example, mitheral plate, while worth a lot, is of no use to Dalamus unless we were to sell it.....Hence I didn't put a claim in for it....now let me have my damn dagger!! lol
Sama'el Val'varen |
I actually don't want any of the stuff we gathered up this time around, it would all be better suited for everyone else and as a premade I had access to buy whatever I wanted when I started so I am good with this going to you all but I would like to get some cash to build something cool instead, so I didn't know if there was any way we were looking at equal value cash for items or anything like that.
And technically, this is an MMO, is massive multi-player and online
Sama'el Val'varen |
@Magma I should be able to make that armor gem thing that Epik has, I am just not sure what book that thing is in as it's not a pathfinder item so I haven't been able to find it and what the cost would be to make it.

Yeah, I think this is the way I perfer to do it. I know if I put in on two items and won both I'd pass on the 2nd if someone else could use it.
I've played in a few games too where if an item is really high valued, then sometimes people will put a bit of cash back into the pot for the rest of the group. I'm fine with that too if everyone else likes it.

Sphere= 11,880gp
Not sure where you got the 40k from, but a 6th lev spell at CL:11 1/wk gonks out to:
(6 x 11 x 1,800gp)/5 = 23,760gp for 1/day
I divided that in half again for 1/week
------------------
Was gonna type this up as part of the interlude, but since we're discussing now:
Cauldron has a current gp limit of 15,000gp for any single item (this includes crafting supplies) with the exception of what you find at Skie's. You can put custom requests into one of the importers as well and they may be able to bring something within a month at an increased cost (10% plus whatever the current tax rate is). Taskerhill, Maavu, and Garthun are the main importers.
Additionally, if you look at your factions, they allow you to purchase certain items at a discounted rate once you achieve those prestige levels. There are also a few crafters in town, but they too, will be limited to the 15k purchase limit above. (And that's 15k for the item, not 15k in raw goods)
Trips to Osibu are cut off ... the city has been shrouded in concealment spells all of a sudden and caravans are no longer being sent there. Adventurers are headed out in droves to see if they can find a path to this modern "lost" city.
Magma Iron Clan |
[QUOT E="DM Fflash"] You may wish to discuss it more with Skie in the interlude portion, but essentially she's part of the merchant consortium that is angry with the taxes and as such has not been passing the tax on to her customers. She's asked that you keep her confidence, because the flip side is that she's not paying nearly what she should to the city tax collectors.
That said, prices are as listed and the list (plus my additions above and minus your previous purchases) is still good.
Jenya could read a scroll of raise dead without any significant problems.
Let's buy the scroll and be done With it
Nemoris |
I concur! Let's see if we can do that and maybe bring her into the party (or do we want to wait on that until we figure out what our next move is)?
I'm completely on board if we're really interested in investigating this tax thing, and maybe seeing if we can oust some corrupt officials.
DM Fflash |
Shamelessly thiefed this from a Dungeon forum and adapted to my own needs:
-----------------------
A small stone 1-room house costs 1000 gp to own the plot plus a new well-built one-room house with a fire place, a door and possibly one window. This is the basis for real estate below.
The districts gain value as you get closer to the top of the caldera.
Ash district is a poorer, more dangerous and the houses are at risk because of potential floods hence many of them are in bad condition already. I assessed the value of the average house to half the normal price: 500 gp per room, unfurnished.
Lava is a craftsmen quarter, the Town Guard patrols it regularly, and it is where most of the working population lives. Still it's not the best place to live and it might be flooded as well on the wettest winters. The price of this district varies around an average of three quarters of the normal price (750gp per room with a range of 600-900gp).
Magma is a highly desirable district where successful craftsmen and merchants live. It is well patrolled by the Town Guard and no floods ever arrived in this avenue. As such it is a highly desirable quarter, and prices reflect that demand. It costs 1000-1300 gp per room to live here.
Obsidian is the high-end quarter of Cauldron. Only the nobility, the wealthiest merchants and the most successful adventurers can afford to live here. It is heavily patrolled and even the heartiest criminals think twice before breaking in these often magically warded estates. Streets are cleaned regularly of animal dung, and building a house there requires more than money. Bad taste is considered a capital crime. Room for new houses is scarce at best, and often belong to the Lord Mayor or it’s family itself. As they have no need for money, they are not inclined to sell easily. Hence the steep price of 1500-3000 gp per room
Dalamus Othreleth |
I personally like the idea of owning our place. We are in a status driven society, and depending on our plans, owning a place could be critical.
For example, if we are trying to get in with some of the more influential types, we would host a party. We would of course need a draw, but at least we would have a place to have it.
Sama'el Val'varen |
I have several questions that still need to be answered.
The prices for house is it a one time thing or monthly?
Factions....please?
I can't find anything that is a Pro Evil item. Thoughts on a 3 or 5 a day item or something like that?
Anyone who wants any Wondrous items, list them out here and I will see what I can get completed in the down time. Also I can increase an item to the next level by paying the difference in the price of the two.
Adding New Abilities
Sometimes, lack of funds or time make it impossible for a magic item crafter to create the desired item from scratch. Fortunately, it is possible to enhance or build upon an existing magic item. Only time, gold, and the various prerequisites required of the new ability to be added to the magic item restrict the type of additional powers one can place.
The cost to add additional abilities to an item is the same as if the item was not magical, less the value of the original item. Thus, a +1 longsword can be made into a +2 vorpal longsword, with the cost to create it being equal to that of a +2 vorpal sword minus the cost of a +1 longsword.
This is cool if Tike allows it - If the item is one that occupies a specific place on a character's body, the cost of adding any additional ability to that item increases by 50%. For example, if a character adds the power to confer invisibility to her ring of protection 2, the cost of adding this ability is the same as for creating a ring of invisibility multiplied by 1.5.
Dalamus Othreleth |
Sam I have a few items that I would possibly be interested in. Can you give me an idea of the costs and if you can do it.
Can you create a magical item from scratch or do you need something magical to start with? I am interested in a ring of invisibility.
Also if I wanted to add Speed or wounding to a weapon, what would the cost and time considerations be?
Sama'el Val'varen |
I can't make rings or weapons/armor sadly. Just wondrous items.
I can make belts, amulets, bracers, vests, bags of holding, eye slots, etc
I should be able to make damn near anything on this list: Wondrous Items
So I could make you Boots of Speed for 6k but there isn't really an invisibility wondrous item.
Tike did say that we might be able to get some things crafted by others, and the ring would cost you 10k to craft but I also think that puts it outside of the limitation of how much we can spend on an item at this point in time. Maximum price is 15k retail worth, not crafted worth
Sama'el Val'varen |
Magma has done a ton of this on the spread sheet, just putting it all here for anyone that doesn't go look at that (not trying to take your job dude, you are doing awesome)

I do see some random wands, scrolls and potions on the tabs from the last chapter that I am not sure if we sold or if they are just collecting dust somewhere
Nevermind found the wands on another Tab, Nowzai has all but the inflict serious wounds
Wand of Inflict Serious Wounds (35 charges)
Wand of Summon Swarm (10 Charges)
Wand of Mage Armor (39 Charges)
These are all floating around though it looks like
Scroll of Tree Shape
6 elixirs of hiding
1 potion of CMW
potion of gaseous form 3rd Level
Scroll of cure moderate wounds
Scroll of Hold person
Potion Magic Fang
Potion Jump
Potion CLW
Potion CLW
2 potions of CLW
8 potions of CLW
There is also an Item called 'The Spider' that doesn't show sold or claimed, but I have no memory of anything like that. Anyone?
Also an Everburning Torch
Magma Iron Clan |
the +2 breastplate is mine unless i get the +1 mithral plate
the Cold Iron Flail is a party item because it is good against Demons and we keep running into them
CLW was given to party members after that chapter was done.
i hold all the Potions but if you want one you are welcome to it
Sama'el Val'varen |
I was hoping we still had the flail for exactly that reason.
I don't want it, just was hoping it didn't get sold when we sold the stuff to the church to destroy and I just wanted to remind people it was around if we had it.
Sama'el Val'varen |
Tike - Are you allowing this Pathfinder rule? - Overcoming DR
Also from reading my understanding is that this has to be true enhancement bonus. ie a +5 Scimitar could overcome DR/Good but a +2 Scimitar of Speed would not even though it also is a +5 Enhanced Sword

High Quality map above with a complete legend (missing Magma's Aunt's House and the HQ of the Mendevian Crusaders). It's also with Greyhawk Gods, so as a reminder:
Church of St Cuthbert = Temple of Iomedae
Church of Pelor = Temple of Saranrae
Church of Wee Jas = Temple of Pharasma
Church of Kord = Temple of Cayden Cailen

Thanks Magma.
On another note, the only prestige suggestions I got were from Epik, although I believe Magma, Nemoris and Dalamus have easy cases for prestige of their own. Depending on what he does, Nowzai may have a case as well.
Working on that. the only question i have is how many different factions can you earn prestige with.
i forgot to write down how much i earn the last time.

One time for purchase. Furnishings are separate. Taxes will be role-played

The gold knight's pennon casts prot evil 1/day and it costs 2,200 gp. Use that as your baseline.

- Some other factions in town that I could develop are:
- The Bloodstone Swords are in the mercenary business to make a living, but prefer to do so without harming common folk. Most missions the Swords take on involve protecting innocent villagers from bandits or monsters, and their relationship with their immediate neighbors is peaceful and protective. On occasion, however, they have been known to hire themselves out to guard caravans, barges, and even visiting diplomats
- The Green Faith guides the world along a delicate path. It works to keep all forces in balance, but a dynamic balance like the ebbing tide, the turning moon, and the changing seasons. A static balance is death and fossilization; it is life, growth, death, decay, and rebirth that the Green Faith seeks. It embraces storm, fire, and flood, working to restore the tender shoot and newborn litter in the aftermath of such natural disasters, and so too does it nurture the human communities, cultures, and empires that inhabit this world. It tends them, watches over them, and culls them should they grow too dangerous to the balance of all.
- Hellknights study and memorize law, meditating on discipline and carrying out its precepts. Although many revile Cheliax’s diabolism, its legal code is thorough and specific, allowing knights to effectively maintain safety, order, and harsh justice. The edicts of the Measure and Chain are plain for the knights follow these regardless of local jurisprudence. The Hellknights are so successful that other nations sometimes invite them to enforce order, a task which they take up with all lawful pleasure.
- military force without borders, the Ninth Battalion seeks to bolster its threatened brethren whenever and wherever needed. When not directly involved in ongoing combat operations, the dwarves of the Ninth Battalion focus on forging the ultimate in armor and weapons, ensuring their members are equipped with the very best the Ninth Battalion has to offer. Military drills are commonplace, as are the legendary celebrations in the Ninth Battalion’s feast halls that frequently follow.
- The Pathfinder Society has existed for more than 400 years. Members include treasure hunters, explorers, tomb raiders, historians, and vagabonds, and they roam the farthest reaches of the world seeking lost relics of world-shattering power and answers to riddles older than the gods. These heroes brave vine-choked jungle ruins, ascend snow-capped peaks, and comb sun-seared desert sands in search of buried tombs and monuments of bygone ages
- The prophets of Kalistrade differ from other trade-oriented factions in Golarion because for the prophets, trade is only a means to the end goal of personal wealth. They favor trade as the easiest and surest way to gain wealth, but any method is acceptable: marriage, inheritance, adventuring, or even theft, as long as the acquired wealth can be assured
- First and foremost, the Red Mantis is a religious organization. Its members worship Achaekek, the Mantis God, He Who Walks In Blood. Achaekek is the assassin of the deities, sent by them to hunt those who might challenge the gods’ place of power. A Red Mantis accepting a contract, while happy with the payment she receives, is taking the contract primarily as a form of worship and only secondarily as a mercenary act of killing. This religious devotion to assassination is what drives the Red Mantis to succeed and continue succeeding where other assassins would fail.
- There is another plot-based faction coming this Chapter as well focused on protecting the area and dedicated to Surobar Spellmason's legacy

You can earn for any that you are a member of, but when I give generic points (like for finishing the last adventure), you have to pick which faction they will go to.
Sama'el Val'varen |
The Mendevian Crusaders are most likely the best fit for Sam but they have the limit of not being able to go above TPA 10 if you are not good so I think that is most likely out for him
The Hellknights would allow Sam but they walk a fairly close line to evil that I don't think I could do, but it's possible.
I like the idea of the Red Mantis, very much reminds me of the Night Angel trilogy but I would want to focus on targets that were fiend-touched of some sort and I am not sure if that is possible either.
The Prophets of Kalistrade are...interesting would be fun to play with the Taxes and everything going on in town if they are against it, would be lame if they were for it.
