I'll be honest....I don't remember their alignments specifically, but I know that if I said they were evil, the lawful folks would seriously consider just leaving. I was trying play my character, manipulation for survival. :)

You did, before we went down and killed the mummy. We had one released and you sensed they were evil and so we locked them back up.

You and Dalamus are both incredibly weak, there is no way to know that if you release both of them that they won't turn on you and try and kill you both. They are evil, and would have no problem killing you both.

Although we still have a couple things to wrap up at the end of this adventure (reward, raising Sam), you all will be having quite a bit of down time, so if you wish to craft, interact with NPCs etc, start sketching out your plans, now.

Magma, let me know what needs to be identified or assessed for value as far as the loot goes.

Here in a bit, I'd also like to post some thoughts for you all to consider in planning your way forward. Some of the ... limitations ... if you will, in your party makeup/planning.


In addition to leveling up, everyone gains 2 prestige points for their faction.

For additional prestige, I'll entertain your solicitations on what you believe you've earned for this Chapter. Look at your Faction Reward list and let me know what you think you've earned and why.

For those that don't have a faction (Sam), you can earn prestige in one, but can't use it until you've joined ... make sense?


Now, things you should consider for future chapters

  • A healer NPC: there are several you could solicit, Jenya (cleric 7), Fellian (fighter 3/cleric 4), Shensen (monk 2/druid 5)
  • Barring that, you should consider stat damage and condition issues (i.e. neg levels, fatigue, exhaustion, disease, poison, curse) and get the proper scrolls/wands/items
  • At this level, flying and invisibility are common, so consider that
  • For that matter, enemies with magic in general are more common
  • DR breakers ... you'll encounter more and more things with various types of Damage Reduction

Tike, we had talked about the Assassin prestige class. I was thinking that I can do the role playing portion while in the city, and level up into that prestige class now.

What are your thoughts?

So what are our prestige faction options? I know you and I have talked about a couple, the academy I think was one that Nowzai is a part of but I can't find the post that talks about the other ones.

And how do we go about finding ones that suit our character more then what are available.

Cool things I did this chapter:

Role played pretty well in the negotiation with Celeste and Nowzai

Fairly solid back ground story

Exploded the Mummy with a pretty solid crit on a shocking grasp

Died heroically trying to slay an evil cleric

Perfect I knew there was a list somewhere.

How do we go about finding a faction that is more in line with our character? The Mendevian Crusaders isn't a bad fit for me but it's not a perfect fit by any stretch


I'll add a list of potential factions in the area this evening. Won't develop them fully until you engage ... sorta how I've been working it to date.

Role-playing your way into them is important.

So Magic Item Creation questions as we start to hit the down time. I am by no means an expert on this so my math could be off on some or all of these so correct me as needed and let me know your thoughts.

Would you allow something like an amulet of lessor restoration? Total cost that I can see would be like 21,600 to create that or even down to 4320 if I limited it to 1/day which would really make sense, how often would you have to use that an unlimited amount in a day. Thoughts?

How about something like Gloves of Healing that is a Cure Mod Wounds. Would cost 21,600 to make and would be a 2d8+3 heal anytime but be a standard action to use in combat. Would be op after fights though as we could just heal to full at no real cost. Thoughts?

Would really love to make a Helm or Hat or Crown or something of Protection from Evil which would be 4,000 to create. Thoughts?

Also what are your thoughts on us opening some sort of a store or downtime money maker? I haven't even played in a campaign where there was a constant home base like a town or city. It was always just moving from one place to another so I honestly don't even know what the rules are and if it's too micro-managing to be fun.

Not a fan of the make your own custom magic item rules so much. First, try and find something similar that already exists. If what you want is so far out there, that there is nothing similar then we can discuss. Those cost guidelines are just that. Guidelines for the DM for pricing.

As far as unlimited healing items, I won't allow them. Single use spells like CMW, max out at 5/day. No "permanent" or "unlimited" use for instantaneous or short duration spells. Feel free to purchase/make 50 charge wands until your heart is content.

Will look at the amulet, but again, see if there is something similar first.

Yeah I haven't found anything with pro evil on it, even a once a day pro evil, fits well with my toon but I dunno if it's an OP item or not.

I totally get the unlimited heal is broken, but you would think about a 5/day or something?

Epik would like to re-train his weapon focus feat to great sword (vs long sword), if allowed. This should give him a little more offensive power. He will shift his divine focus to the new sword.

Magma, can you craft a +1 Great Sword for Epik. He can trade in his +1 Long Sword if necessary to offset the cost. I would like to enchant his masterwork full plate also, if possible.

Concerning prestige points with the Mendevian Crusaders, Epik may have earned the following:

- Breaking of a demon worshiping cult (2). Assumes that the KT worship a demon lord.
- Slay a cultist (1). Again, assumes that the KT are a demon worshiping cult.
