Urgeon Porpentine |
Urgeon will carefully inspect the door and pad, "Perhaps this pad is used to open the door?"
Engineering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
DMFflash |
Urgeon moves over to investigate the pad and as he moves his hand in front of the pad and before he is able to get more than 3 words out, the door shoots into the ceiling with a slight whoosh displaying a lit metal corridor (tube, tunnel?) leading some 30 feet to another door before it turns right.

Urgeon Porpentine |
Urgeon stares in wonder at the automated door before following the others into the hall, "This technology is amazing."
DM Fflash |
I'm assuming that Kovax is following ... he's been silent in all games, probably invested in the holidays (rightfully so)
Razorend leads the party forward to the next door and glances to the east to see the hallway goes about 15 feet before it turns back to the north.
The door in front of him looks exactly like the one that just opened in the previous room with one exception. When the stalker waves his hand in front of the pad, a floating transparent image of a padlock hovers in front of the gray pad, flashing in and out and switches through multiple colors before it distorts and flickers out.
Urgeon Porpentine |
Engineering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19; check to decipher the image.
Urgeon frowns, "I can only guess that the padlock is indicating that the door is locked. Is it possible that the card we found previously could be a key?"
Urgeon swipes the brown card in front of the pad.
DM Fflash |
Urgeon waves the brown card in front of the door and the padlock image initially transitions to a red X, but then it flickers and flashes through a couple colors and with a sound like a crackle of a wizard's lighting spell it switches to a green circle and the door shoots into the ceiling.
At the same time a tremendous crash of noise causes you to turn around and you see the room you vacated at the end of the hall filled with electrical lightning bolts for several seconds. It stops and the faint smell of burnt metal wafts toward you.
Back at the door that just opens, you peer beyond. The air in this room seems to buzz and hum with energy. Strips of glowing rectangles light the room from above, while strange flickering windows line the east and west walls. A large glass-topped circular table sits in the middle of the room. To the north sits a large metal desk covered with blinking lights, while a humming pillar of purple-and-black metal stands nearby, its sides flashing with tendrils of violet energy. A single golden panel flashes with a soft but incessant light on the side of this pillar. A thick layer of dust coats everything, diffusing the lights shining from the various surfaces, and many of the machines seem to be damaged, cracked, or otherwise ruined.
Urgeon Porpentine |
Urgeon looks back in alarm at the Lightning behind them and then nods to Razorend, "Yes, we must tread carefully to not inadvertently activate any of this technology."
Urgeon carefully makes his way to the pillar with the golden panel. He tries to understand the blinking lights without touching anything.
Engineering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Kovax Exner |
Kovax blinks at the lightning, "Well...that could have been bad." he has a brief involuntary shudder as he thinks about what kind of damage that may have done.
He then moves up to look over the same panel as Urgeon
Engineering - 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Any tracks in the dust to see if the other groups have come through this area?
Urgeon Porpentine |
Urgeon backs away from the panel, "As much as I'm tempted to press these buttons, I fear the possible consequences."
He scans the floor for any footprints.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Urgeon then walks up to the flickering windows and attempts to look through.
Are there any visible exits?
Urgeon Porpentine |
Urgeon points to the flickering windows, "Perhaps we can break through? Otherwise, we're going to need to backtrack."
Urgeon scans the room for any hidden exits.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
He also looks for a method to activate, control or open the windows.
Engineering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
DMFflash |
Urgeon notes know hidden exits nor anything that may affect any of the lights and windows other than the glowing yellow panel and the various other buttons in the room.
Of note, perhaps my description was unclear, but the hallway outside the door continues around the corner

DM Fflash |
The party leaves the strange room with a wistful glance, realizing that they've encountered something amazing yet completely beyond their understanding.
You walk around the corner and the hallway continues on ending in a door. On the east side of the wall is another one. The northern one opens with a wave of your hand, but the eastern one displays a solid black lock and when you wave your hand or your card, it displays a red X and then returns to the black lock.
Northern Room
A large metal table is surrounded by odd-looking chairs in this room. To the west, what appears to be a transparent wall looks out over a strange desert valley ... the one you just came through!. Four pillars support the fifteen-foot- high ceiling, while dozens of crude images of a pickaxe made of a skull and bones have been painted onto the walls with some sort of ivory pigment along with several phrases in an unrecognizable language even to those who know a few words of Androffan.
Standing at the far end of the room looking out through the window is another four-armed creature. But this one is not a skeleton. Dried flesh covers its bones, and the tattered remanants of clothing drape over its legs and shoulders. It carries a pair of fine serrated short swords in its upper arms. It's lower ones are perched on its hips. It turns as you enter, glowing green eyes piercing you menacingly. It speaks several phrases in an unrecognizable language before he turns and raises his swords and flashes them menacingly.

Urgeon Porpentine |
Urgeon attempts to discern the language the creature is using.
Linguistics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
He raises hands in a gesture of peace, "We mean you no harm. Put down your weapons and we will talk."
DM Fflash |
Urgeon has no idea what language the creature is speaking, but recognizes that it is indeed an intelligent language and has structure and inflection.
The creature cocks its head as Urgeon speaks and then rushes forward to attack!
ACTIONS? Init: Urgeon, Razorend, Hethuath, Kovax, Ridic
Hethuath Init: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Urgeon Init: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Ridic Init: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Razorend Init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Kovax Init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Urgeon Porpentine |
Urgeon will make one last attempt to passify the creature. This time he attempts to calm the creature using Androffan.
Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 6
DM Fflash |
I assume Urgeon will use his Round 1 standard action for something else since speaking is an immediate one ... let me know if that's the case
Razorend holds his ground as the creature rushes him, the stalker lashes out as it gets close carving a small gash out of its chest shredding the ruined cloth. The flesh is very tough and doesn't give away easily, but as it parts, no blood or any other liquid emerges.
Kovax drops his blunderbuss and whips out his glaive, attacking over Razorend, but misses wide as the agile creature dodges out of the way.
Ridic hangs in the back realizing he can't get forward.
Roll 20 updated, Actions Round 2?
Razorend To hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23; Crit?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7; no; Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Kovax To hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8; miss
Urgeon Porpentine |
Urgeon fires his crossbow at the creature once it's clear it's going to attack
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
He fires again on the creature in Round 2.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 2 - 4 = 18
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Razorend |
Razorend feints a lunge left, then flip-rolls right, trying to edge past the creature and get around behind.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Is that good enough to get past? Otherwise I buy an AoO (and no flank on the attack below).
Coming up in a flanking position, Razorend strikes.
Kukri: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22; Confirm Critical: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16; Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Critical Damage?: 1d4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 2 = 6
Not really flanked until someone else moves up... unless Kofax has a reach weapon, then add +2 to my attack rolls.
DM Fflash |
If this were a video game, there would've been a save point outside the door ...
Round 2
Urgeon fires a second time having missed his first go and fires, hitting the creature in the throat. While it cuts a small wound, the bolt doesn't penetrate deeply and falls out.
Crit?: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 2 - 4 = 14; no
Razorend attempts to nimbly dodge around the creature, but it is amazingly quick and lashes out at the stalker with his bladed weapon just barely hitting him.
AoO: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21; HIT!; Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
The stalker slashes any how but his blade doesn't cause any harm being held back by the creature's tough skin.
Blazing green eyes precede a relentless fury of blows on the stalker. The nimble android leaps and dodges around them all. The spinning creature raises a blade slightly in a gesture of respect, but continues on.
Sword To hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Sword To hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Fist To hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Fist To hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
At Kovax (who does have a reach weapon, fwiw)
Urgeon Porpentine |
Round 2
Urgeon again fires his crossbow.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 2 - 4 = 6
