The Cultist tries to come to come to his master's aid and launches a furious attack on Lizzie which she simply side steps.

Momijii, angered by Zandalus' attack, moved closer to him once more and opened up with a massive flurry of blows. She drew deep on her chi and pulled forth an additional one to try and take the monster down now. Her first blow was a left dragon claw, swiping in fiercely followed by a right. She then tried to transition into a dragon chomp maneuver but the damage to her mind cause her chi to falter and she failed to connect with her target.

Momijii attacks with blows so fast the eye can barely see them all but strangely only her first attack bypasses Zandalus' defences!

Looking battered and bruised Zandalus tries to focus his hatred on Luxina who had hurt him so, but nearly surrounded he was unable to concentrate. He shriked in frustration!

Lizzie and Agrippa combine to bash Zandalus over the head and stab him in the gut. He falls down convulsing at your feet as he slowly bleeds out, proving Agrippa right. The cultist drops his weapon and stares at the growing pool of blood in utter shock.

Under Zandalus's mattress you find finds eight pouches each containing 50 gold coins, a wand of command (DC 16 to identify), a stoppered bottle (DC 20 to identify), a scroll (DC 18),
and a book titled The Chain of Nights.

As Zandalas falls to the floor Filbert returns to his initial concept of burning the artwork. "This is just too dangerous to leave lying around." He comments to no one in particular while he plucks another drawing from the wall with his mind bringing it to the candle. "Don't look too close at them if you help me." Pointing at the cultist " And someone tie him up please before he does something he'll regret later."

Filbert is not searching the room so he will not attempt the perception check early on, there was plenty of artwork to pull from, from the GM's description.

Agrippa nods at the Gnome. Perhaps you are right. and he kicks away Zandalus' weapon.

Agrippa slices the bedsheets into some sort of strips and says to the stunned cultist Don't struggle. This'll all be over soon. and he ties his hands together.

"Do you guys reckon he created some sort of gateway? In a crazy way, those paintings make those vapors and other abominations we've seen come through?"

Maybe actually a good question, if someone paid attention to those paintings would they be empty of creatures?

Momijii was relieved when the leader of the cultists finally went down. The only disappointing part was that he survived, for now. While she would prefer to put him down and end the threat right now something about him had seemed off and she was worried that, whatever it was, it could be important. She helped Heinrich tie the man up using some rather exotic knots from her childhood, things that only her body remembered how to do. When she was finished she made sure to keep an eye on Zandalus while the others dealt with the painting and explored the room.

Agrippa has little trouble tieing up the cultist, the sorely wounded man seems in profound shock. Something however keeps your hackles up, you can't put your finger on the source of anxiety but deep down you know this isn't over...

Zandalus is in the negatives and bleeding out. He isn't dead yet but will be soon.

Was that a whiff of yellow smoke curling out of Zandalus' mouth and nose?

"Uhm... guys? Do you also see those yellow wisps of smoke? From Zandalus's mouth I mean."

"Would that mean killing him would free whatever is hiding in him, or that not killing him now would bring us trouble?"

Something in Luxina's question grabs Filberts attention "Huh? what yellow wisp? Lizzie please keep burning the artwork, somethings not right about it."

Turning he kneels down studying the dying man's final breaths

As Filbert examines​ Zanldalus the wisp of smoke turns into a torrent of yellow mist, pouring out of every orifice and his wounds. Filbert feels the man's pulse stop and his body become hot as if it was burning from the inside out.

The mist blends into the choking fumes from the burnt artwork and in moments the room is filled with the vile stuff! It's like standing in obscuring mist with the same penalties on vision.

Suddenly your hair stands up on end, a familiar figure—the shadowy, gaunt murderer from your communal dream—steps forth from the mist. The sickly fog clings to him and many of his tatters flutter freely and dissolve into mist. At the same moment, the door loudly bangs shut and audibly locks! Armed with a wicked gore splattered scalpel

Luxina:
You recognize The Tatterman as a native of the Dimension of Dreams. A distant relative to the doppelgangers you saw earlier but far more dangerous. Formidable in melee, yet you believe spellcasting is its true power. Repots vary but the spells of Hastur's intermediary are strange nightmare tinged things unlike any you have seen before.

Incidentally I got the combat order wrong. The Tatterman gets to act twice per round. It's second go is after Luxina.

As the mist poured forth from Zandalas's body and coalesced into one of Filbert nightmares, the jeweler threw out his hands, a thunderclap accompanying the movement.

Like a huge wave sucking you under the mist crashes over you! You feel buffeted about and are falling before landing in an endless desert pocked marked with the ruins of some alien city. In front of you is a shimming portal back to the asylum in Golorion. All you have to do is step through it... Oh and defeat the huge pile of eyes that blocking the way and staring at you unblinking!

Wait a moment. So we all failed the Frightful Presence aura thing except Lizzie. Does that mean, because we have 4 HD or less, that every other one of us is panicked and can't do anything in the fight? Or are you merciful on us and are we merely shaken?

If the latter
Luxina plucks a flask from her hip and downs it in one go.
Her muscles bulge and her skin tone darkens even further, but likewise certain platelike scales form on her skin.

"Alright! I'm ready to go"

If we're panicked.
Luxina moves over into a corner and trembles in fear as the tatterman assaults the heroic Lizzie, the only one still fighting bravely.

@Lizzie looks like the last time you used smite was on Fido, and you've slept since then so sure smite away! @Luxina It's an aura that makes you shaken fortunately. Lizzie is immune to it and does have her own personal aura. Unfortunately the dice roller deiced that you lot were not going to pass the roll even with her +4.

Lizzie singles out The Tatterman for divine retribution, strides forwards and slips on something unseen beneath the fog. The Tatterman screeches at her and Agripa moves to Lizzie's side hoping to intercept any attacks. Looks like Lizzie has AC 21 currently due to smite and Aid Another.

Luxina downs a something from a flash causing her skin to resemble that of an armadillo! I'm not quite sure what it was you downed that gives +2 ac. I'm totally guessing it lasts 10 rounds, can you please let me know if this is correct.

No sooner than Agripa was tensed and ready than the Tatterman attacked, hie wicked razor moving like a blur. At the last moment Red Destiny flicks out deflecting the blade which was sailing towards Lizzie's throat!

gathering aether around him and pulling up the sand from around him, Filbert lets it all swirl into a veritable maelstrom.

Filbert:
Yes victims of the Tatterman's spells are theater of the mind. The way this works is a little like the panicked condition, you get a save each round (which I'll let you roll) and even if you fail your actions (e.g. destroying or intimidating) may win you an earlier release. Filbert does his best to intimidate the awful creature in front of him, but it stands impassively there under the sand maelstrom. Suddenly it lashes out at Filbert with a disgusting gloop covered pseudopod. With a startled yelp Filbert dances back out of harm's way!

Lizzie's sings her mace with quite some force, bit it gets fouled in the abomination's voluminous rags doing no real damage. Heinrich moves to stab The Tatterman but to his horror, his blade simply can't pierce the horrific things incredibly tough hide!

Momijii was angered by the Tattered Man's seeming ability to not only shrug off their hits but to also heal from the quickly. Shifting her position slightly and drawing deeply on her chi the monk sent a flurry of blows into the thing.

Momiju unleashes a blizzard of attacks upon The Tatterman, pounding him time and again. Such was her fury a normal foe would have had bones broken and smashed but this creature of nightmare is made of sterner stuff and seems only slightly hurt! You hit it twice due to the stun.

Filbert:
There's something strange about the foe you're facing, you can't quite place your finger on what tho. Not knowing what else to do you aim a powerful blast at the disgusting thing before you. It plows into it shattering a large portion of it like glass. You try to slip past into the portal but slip yet as you do a part of your brain realizes this isn't real! You suddenly find yourself back in the room face down under a deep layer of fog.

The tatterman shacks off the effects of Momijii's blow ans swipes furiously at Lizzie but it slips on some rubble and she easily sidesteps it's clumsy slash

Lizzie's Morningstar hits The Tatterman with a flash of light, leaving a cauterized ruin of tortured flesh! The Tatterman roars in pain and it's maw turns towards Lizzie!

Heinrich primes himself ready to interpose against the reaction you all know is coming for Lizzie, but he twists his ankle on the loose rubble floor!

Luxina tries to smash The Tatterman with her club but he jerks away at the last moment.

With preternatural grace, The Tatterman sidesteps away from fists, spiked balls, blades and clubs and it suddenly points at Lizzie and claps. Just like with poor Filbert the mist reacts violently, it's surface boiling over like superheated liquid in a cauldron, covering her completely and then she's gone!

Lizzie:
You feel a terrible sucking at your legs, before you loose your footing and tumble. Your head falls beneath the roiling surface and foul vapors enter your mouth an nose. There is falling and darkness, and suddenly you are elsewhere. The mist recedes slightly to show a vertiginous scene from the now familiar dreamland city. You are atop a spire of a great building hundreds of feet up, below you the city like some incredibly detailed model sprawls for many leagues in each direction. Fifteen feet away is a glowing portal suspended in mid air, the far side of which are your friends battling the ferocious nightmare being. Five feet in front of you is a broken railing and a precipice... Behind you is a small balcony and a locked door.
