Filbert Springbit |
Filbert frowns as the first shot goes wide , sending a spiderweb of cracks throughout the corner. Head down he concentrates while gathering up aether to try again. Looking up he is surprised to 3 where before one had stood. With a sigh he watches the sinuous weave back and forth choosing the one in the middle.

Heinrich quaffs a potion which he feels should afford some level of protection. Luxina tries to shoot at the sinuously moving horror but misjudges Fido's sudden twists and the arrow slams into the space where it was a heartbeat before.
The panic starts to recede from Momijii's mind, and she regains control of her faculties!

Fido bushes past her and Heinrich and advances on the only one who has come close to hurting it so far, it roars and gibbers at Filbert. It thrashes and waves it's facial tentacles in a deeply upsetting way, so much so that Filbert almost finds his brain screaming RUN!

Am I still frightened?
Momijii |
Momijii felt the sheer terror the monstrosity had inspired in her wear off to be replaced by devastating sorrow. The memory that had been awakened was just as painful to her now as it had been then. She came to realize that this was what it wanted but all of the horrors left her unable to cope at the moment and so she continued to kneel there, chanting the same litany over and over as she rocked back and forth.
Going with another round of her getting herself back together, next round she's going to be hell bent for vengeance. Are the sqaures around me rough terrain?
DM Fang Dragon |
Yes lots of difficult terrain from the rubble. Feel free to move a bit this round. I'll get an update later after work.
Momijii |
After only a few seconds she rose, tears still in her eyes, and began to make her way towards where the battle with the creature was going. As she went she felt her tears of despair become mingled with righteous anger.
DM Fang Dragon |
Picking her way over great unstable mounds of masonry, Momijii starts pickling her way back.
Lizzie follows Fido and tries to smash it with her mace, but it shifts suddenly and unexpectedly. Fluidly it uncoils to savage Filbert, it's fetid maw clamping down painfully on his arm and it's taloned legs blur as they scythe towards him!

Enraged by his treatment, Filbert sends a blast of power through Fido's left eye-socket. The thunderous retort of which momentarily stuns everyone, surely such a strike is fatal? It's with dismay you notice the image shatter, leaving the still very much alive Fido snarling it's defiance!
Agrippa takes advantage of the momentary confusion to step north west, to flank Fido with Lizzie. He times a strike to coincide with Lizzie, leaving Fido no room to evade. Red destiny glints as it scores along the Esipil's hide. Agrippa was sure such a blow would have cut deeply, but only a shallow scratch was left.

Luxina tries to get a bead on Fido, but it bucks and twists so much there was no chance.
Likewise Momijii finds the Esipil to be elusive. Her first attack seemed to be on target them it twisted and it was way off the mark. Her second one however caught it in the nethers eliciting a strangled yelp.
Meanwhile Lizzie's mace decends upon Fido's back with a flash and a peal of thunder, breaking its back. Fido spasms uncontrollably before it's eyes rotate into its sockets.
Combat over.

write Filberts run on questions up to his being a little shook up after playing with Fido
Momijii |
Seeing the Esipil go down Momijii still felt her anger and hatred for it. She continued to assault the corpse as fury took over her and tears continued to pour from her eyes at the memory this thing had use against her. There was little of it left intact when she was finished and she was splattered with the gore of the thing as she began to take deep breaths and try to cool the dragon within.
DM Fang Dragon |
Agrippa fiddles with the door finding that it would be possible to pile a bunch of crates up against it, effectively sealing yourselves in. The bed the prisoner was chained to is cast iron and serviceable which is more than can be said of the mattress. The staines and suspicious gouges don't bear close examination. Of course you'd have to dump the ghouls (the smell of which is indescribable) and the gore splatter pulp of Fido before anyone would dream of sleeping in there.
The prisoner moans softly before falling back to sleep. It's obvious the man needs medical aid of some description.
OK so what are your intentions?
Filbert Springbit |
Does Filbert's perception check from above count on this?
As Filbert ask his question about the other's injuries, his eyes light on the poor man in the corner, hmm, thought he'd already died, better help him quickly before he actually does.. Kneeling down beside the man he checks for injuries.
heal check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 "How are you feeling? he ask, shaking the mans shoulder, checking for responsiveness. Subconsciously he continues pushing the wisp of fog that gather round him away with his telekinetic ability.
Kinetic healer: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13
Concentrating on the fallen man, Filbert uses his ability to probe the man, searching for places that his companion Momijii would say his chi was out of wack. His ability as a jeweler allowed him to search for minute flaws, where things just didn't feel right and
Finishing up his work with the man, Filbert looks around...
"Has the fog dissipated some with the demise of Fido? Granted I can't seem to get it to leave me alone." He finishes with a grimace, pushing more away from him.
DM Fang Dragon |
@Filbert yes that counts!
Filbert's ministrations are soon rewarded, the man's color improves markedly and his breathing grows deeper and easier. After a few minutes his eyes flutter open and he starts, "Aie! Ah. Oh, you're not a ghoul." He looks about wildly and says urgently, "Whatever you do, don't look under that crate! It may look sweet, but it's a killer." His eyes suddenly lock onto Fido's corpse and after getting over the shock he says to himself as much as anything, "Well I guess there is some justice in the world after all, can hardly believe it. Name's Ilki Volost, at least I think it is. Is this the group therapy room? At least I think that's where we are, things have changed and my memory isn't what it was..."
Filbert Springbit |
sense motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 I like auto sense motives :)
"Ilki, my name is Filbert and sir you have had a heck of a day. This is the therapy room but it has fell on hard times." Looking at the ghouls laying around the floor. "After we rest a bit, we need you to stay here until we come back, at which point we'll take you somewhere you can get a hot meal and some rest."
Got to skip out for dinner will post more later
Lizzie "beads" Tamar |

Lizzie lets Filbert to 1st introductions.
Sense Motive, untrained: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (16) - 2 = 14
"Yes, there is a place in this building, where a safe zone has been established"
Filbert Springbit |
Hmm this guy isn't quite right on a good day, but otherwise seems ok.
Filbert introduces him around and helps the others to clean up the mess, although using his abilities to move what's left of Fido, a look of disgust clearly on his face.
Offering to take a watch while the others rest, but always needing to push bits of the fog away. When it's his turn to sleep he crawls on top of the crate in the corner to get off the floor and away from the fog.
DM Fang Dragon |
A little uncertainly the man responds, "A safe zone? Oh OK, could you take me there please, when you're ready. Its funny I didn't think anywhere would be safe after the things that happened this last week or so. Or was it longer? Hard to say, time plays tricks on you..."
DM Fang Dragon |
Are you intending to rest here? If so please let me know what you do before turning in and what sleeping arrangements you make.
Momijii |
Finally pulling herself from the pulped remains of the...thing. She went to her companions as they discussed sleeping arrangements and said, "Are we sure we want to sleep here? Might it be safer to return to the safe area to rest"
Filbert Springbit |
"To do that we have to pass back through the haunts area or into the room with the 4 disciples overseeing the cooking; then all the way back to the chapel. Unless of course you'd like to sleep at the encampment with the lovely wall decorations" Filbert offers conversationally.
Filbert can go on, after a few minutes he was back up to 5hp on his shield. Was following Niles lead about looking at the room as a place to rest up. Thought Fang said we needed to clear the room out if we planned to crash for a bit.
DM Fang Dragon |
Well I'm not sure how much sleep you'd get sharing a small room with putrefying corpses of the zombies ;) They smell terrible.
DM Fang Dragon |
Come on folks, please make a decision about what you are doing next.
