"Indeed. Sheriff, it is no coincidence that this attack occurred on the night of the temple dedication. Those two may be a good place to begin an investigation."
"Do you think they could really be behind it? I will have to look into it, but thank you for the lead. Brun, take the rest of the day off. You performed well, and we have the situation under control."

"They may not have been behind it, but lacking any other place to begin, it's the only thing to do besides attempt to get information out of the goblin prisoners and track them back to their lair."

Tekk looks stunned, "A couple of people live here in town that were responsible for burning down a cathedral? Right...So Sheriff, what can you tell us about the fire, and if these people started it, why aren't they in prison?"
Muttering to himself:
Orcish:
"Bunch of bloody nutters, letting arsonists live free as they please!
The way to the house takes you down through the market, when a local baker, Alma Avertin, rushes at the group, specifically towards Spectrum. "Look, it's the Heroes of the festival!" She says as she approaches the group. "You look a little thin there Elf. Here, take some bread, it would be a shame if you starved."

As Gene walks He can't help but notice Brun's red tattoos. He wondered how the man had gotten such markings but, dared not ask as he himself knew what it felt like to be viewed as different. Gene didn't say much as he slowly moved beside Brun. "This town gives such a wonderful feel to it, I hope we can figure out and put an end to these problems. So that the town can keep this feeling."
The bread is passed around the group, and it is quite delicious. As you walk down the main road, you faintly hear some of the younger women talking about the group, most often talking about Brun. "Is he seeing anyone?" Can be heard more than once as you walk along the road. You pass by the general store, a woman of 16 comes out of the shop, and approaches the group. "Excuse me, Mr. Brun, but may I ask for your assistance in something?"

Tekk stops as well. Of all the...
He moves to stand right beside Brun and crosses his arms over his chest, "Right, how can we help you - and if it doesn't involve goblins or arson, or both, it will have to wait."
I know, but the group are kind of accepted as heroes around the town right now. Also, you are the only one who fits for this part of the AP
"Well you see, my father is out of town right now, and there are some really big rats infesting the basement of the shop. Would you mind helping me get rid of them? With your skills, it should be an easy task"
Brun turns a hard stare on the mounted warrior and says with a firm voice "It is never called for to be rude to a lady." With that he turns back to the young lady. Unfortunately, he is also correct. We need to uncover the source of the goblin attack before it is to late to act upon it. I can not speak for the rest of my companions but I will help you with you rat problem today. For now why don't you wait for me at the white deer and I will meet you there in a few hours" Brun then reaches into his money pouch and press a few silver into hand. "See you soon."
sense motive 7:
Brun is only 17 and it is quite clear that while he is trying to do the right thing he is a bit distracted by the comely young lady. If you need to roll a sense motive 7 would probably be enough to figure it out or you can just narrate.
Along the way Brun looks at his assorted companions and asks What do you think the best way to handle this is? I am fairly good with words and most people can not lie to me. As paladin I can sense evil but that is no proof of guilt. I think we should break into 3 groups so that we can cover both the front and the rear of the house while some of us go in and talk to them. I am Brun by the way and he stops for a moment to get everyone's name. What can these little guys do ? He says to spectrum while gesturing to the dragons.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Spectrum sighed. "They are dragons. They lack dangerous exhalations, but generate a mild toxin which can render a person unconscious for a time. They also possess limited telepathy. They can communicate, and hear intended replies and emotional states, but cannot read minds. They are ideal scouts, but are quite young and do not always know the significance of what they see when they see it."

The half-orc grumbles, "Tekk. I enjoy hitting things. I'll go around back."
He starts toward the rear of the house, then pauses. Over his shoulder, he says, "If you need to come out the rear door, knock twice and yell 'Sur'ak!' before you exit."
Realizing that stealth is probably blown Brun hurries to the door and knocks loudly while gesturing to every one else take their postilions. He points at Gene and motions him to go with the half orc. Then he tries to silently tell Spectrum and Auto to move to the other side of the house so they are not immediately visible from the front door. Then turns to wait for the couple to answer the door. In a whisper to Ceinwyn "Detect magic now."
