Poog chants, continuing his hex on his allies. Move action to "cackle." Don't forget you've got the Fortune hex, all. I don't know if the combat will force me to stop cackling at some point

Then the goblin looks around, trying to spot the allies the Vudrani woman likely has. Failing, he shrugs and gestures toward Ganyavesha, pulling a small rubbery tentacle out from pouch and tossing it in her direction as he quickly chants arcane words of power.

Casting black tentacles centered on Ganyavesha (+16 CMB).

Zarina rises 40' in the air as an effect of her Fly spell and launches a tiny red speck toward her opponent. As the sphere leaves her hand, it continues to grow in size until it reaches Gany, where it explodes in a fiery burst.

Fireball spell 9d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 6, 1, 4, 4, 6, 5) = 36 plus nine for sorcerer bloodline equals 45 points of damage.

DC 18 Reflex save for half, unless she has evasion, which I suspect she does...

Zak's attempt to win the crowd onto your side fails, and a sizable portion begins to show its disapproval. The audience is unfriendly, which means you have a -1 to all attack rolls, combat maneuver checks, ability checks, skill checks, and saving throws. A successful performance combat check will push them back to indifferent.

Zak lets loose another volley of arrows, and two of them strike Ganyavesha. Again, they barely pierce her skin, and she pulls them out, throwing them to the ground with scarcely a thought. Zak, since you hit multiple times, you may attempt another performance combat check as a swift action if you wish.

Simon:
You detect the presence of magical auras within the boundaries of your spell. Next round, you'll be able to determine the number of auras and the strongest aura within that area, should you continue to concentrate on it.

Poog doesn't notice any allies for Ganyavesha - apparently, she needs no assistance against you in the ring. He throws the rubbery tentacle towards her, and a number of black tentacles erupt from the ground around her. While they writhe near her, none of them are able to grab ahold of her.

Knowledge (arcana) DC 24:
A few come close, but are unable to even find a grasp on her. You suspect that she's magically protected, most likely from a freedom of movement spell.

Zarina takes to the air as well, and hurls a ball of flame at the Vudrani warrior. 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31 She rolls with the explosion, but she doesn't even seem singed after the flames disappear. On a positive note, it doesn't appear like Ganyavesha has any invisible allies waiting to ambush you.

Knowledge (arcana) DC 23:
While she's nimble, it looked like she should have caught some of that blast. You think she might have protected herself against flame, such as through protection from energy.

Just waiting on Asha, and we'll proceed with Ganyavesha's second action.

Zak had a second check, 19, if a third is required: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

also, if it matters for this combat, Zak has Clustered Shot: When you use a full-attack action to make multiple ranged weapon attacks against the same opponent, total the damage from all hits before applying that opponent's damage reduction.

Female Human (Vudrani) monk of the four winds 4 / paladin 8

Also, Zak, Asha cast eagle's splendor on you earlier - your Charisma score is 4 points higher than normal, so all your performance checks should be at a +2.

Asha rises slowly into the air, looking around herself with glee. "I could never get tired of this," she says, smiling, then raises her glaive and murmurs a soft prayer to Shelyn in Vudrani. "अनन्त गुलाब, मेरे बगल में खड़ा है और आपकी दया मेरे ब्लेड गाइड ..." Her glaive begins to glow, shining like a sunrise scattered through a stained-glass window. Opening her eyes, Asha rises into the air, moving faster, looping through the air to land on the platform opposite Ganyavesha. "Come, beautiful one," she says to the other woman, inclining her head slightly. "Let us dance once more..."

Vudrani:
Eternal Rose, stand beside me and guide my blade to your mercy...

Between haste and fly, Asha has a fly speed of 90 feet, so she should be able to easily move to a spot 10 feet away from Ganyvesha on the same platform. If possible, she will try to fo so in a way that does not give the larger woman cover against Zak's arrows. For her standard action, Asha activates her celestial bond, adding a +1 bonus to her glaive.

"A game of trickery, is it?" Simon says. "Well played, madam!"

The old man pulls his mask over his face and shoots up a ladder onto the main tower.
With Climb +12, do I even need to make the check? ;p

From the first tower, the old man zips onto the rope bridge connecting to the tower where Ganyavesha is. "Kage-bunshin," the old man whispers as he comes closer -- and he seems to split into multiple people, all wielding the same sword cane, leaping and tumbling about!

Shadow clone for 1d4 ⇒ 2 copies. Simon is getting as close as he can with his current 60 ft. move rate, but doesn't want to get flattened right away. ^^;
If the multiple-tumbling display is capable of swaying the crowd - Performance Combat check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19. Acrobatics check for multi-Simon: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27.

Whoops, missed your performance combat check, Zak. So...

Zak's second arrow follows the first's trajectory exactly, splitting the arrow down the middle and penetrating Ganyavesha's flesh halfway. This arrow she simply snaps off, but she reacts to that wound far more than the previous two. The crowd cheers as Zak draws real blood from his foe for the first time in the fight.

And just like that, the crowd is back to indifferent. Since it was my mistake, I'll let you keep the one you rolled for the next check you have to make.

Ganyavesha grins as Asha speeds through the air towards her, and says something in that harsh sibilant tongue again. She slashes at her fellow Vudran several times with her kukri, displaying her mastery of the blade.

Full round attack for Ganyavesha at Asha.

Ganyavesha plunges her large kukri into Asha's chest, withdraws, and plunges it in a second time. Ganyavesha withdraws for a third stab, but she is able to twist her body to avoid another wound to her vitals. Worse, as the blade penetrates, a horrible chill falls over Asha, and her vision begins to blacken. Asha also gains two negative levels. Life Stealing effect: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9 As she withdraws the blade, Ganyavesha raises it high above her head, playing to the crowd as she sees her Vudran sister wobble. Simon rushes up the tower nearest him, rushing across its length as he makes for the rope bridge. Perception test, please?

Crap. Just remembered - Poog's got his black tentacles centered on Ganyavesha. Getting as close as you did to Ganyavesha would entail getting into the spell's radius.

I missed that bit about the tentacles, too, but Simon is not an idiot. He would stop short of the tentacles and work further from there. His shadow clones also stay short.

Female Human (Vudrani) monk of the four winds 4 / paladin 8

Yeah, Asha would have definitely avoided the tentacles as well. In fact, since they are difficult terrain and would likely have prevented Ganyavesha from being able to take a 5 ft step, Asha would have stopped her movement 15 feet away, requiring Ganyavesha to take a move action to get close enough to attack and thus not have gotten a full attack. Since that's a huge change to the sequence of events, though, I don't know how you want to handle it, GM.

Sorry I didn't detail the action more; wasn't sure if that would hit.

Asha, if you come back to me, I can cast lesser restoration (or healing spells) on you, but I can't move while I'm maintaining the cackle. GM, how far away from me is Ganyavesha?

She does not, in fact, crit on an eight. That was an error introduced during editing, as she originally rolled a 16 to hit, which is within her crit range for her kukri with Improved Critical. After the initial attacks, I put the critical rolls in after the two threats, which ended up changing what the rolls corresponded to.
Since that whole sequence is a bit screwed up, I think the simple solution is to have Ganyavesha move up to slash at Asha, critting for 34 points of damage, and inflicting a negative level on her. Ganyavesha is currently 20' away vertically and approximately 50' away horizontally, if you haven't moved since the combat began.

Simon's Perception:

You spot a trapdoor in the floor along the way to the rope bridge. Having noted its presence, you skirt around it.

Ganyavesha hears Poog casting, and leaps aside gracefully. The dark beam of energy narrowly misses her, and her eyes widen as she recognizes just how close that blast came to striking her.

DM, where is Asha and Gany in regards to the Black Tentacles now? Is there room for me to fly and flank Gany without getting into the Tentacles?

Female Human (Vudrani) monk of the four winds 4 / paladin 8

I'll deal with the negative level for now, Poog, but I'll keep it in mind.

Asha feels the bite of the kukri and its life-draining effect, and some of the brightness in her smile fades. She instead narrows her eyes, holding her position in the air and readying her weapon. Fly check to hover, DC 15: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27. With supernatural speed, she strikes out with her blade.

Asha was 15' away from the edge of the tentacles, and Ganyavesha had to move about 20' to get within striking distance of Asha. The part of her you would need to flank is within the tentacles at the moment, Zarina.

I should remind you, Zarina, that since Ganyavesha is enlarged, you will draw an opportunity attack from moving adjacent to her. Also, you'll keep the 23 for your performance check, Zak.

Asha twirls her glaive, and the flat of the blade strikes Ganyavesha thrice. The Vudrani is able to parry the last blow, but she sports several new bruises from where Asha struck her. Four more arrows fly towards Ganyavesha, but the Vudrani is ready for them this time. Once, twice, thrice her blade slashes at the incoming arrows, and she cuts them down in midflight. Only a single arrow strikes her, and she turns her attentions back to the two women she faces in melee combat. Now that both women know to avoid her blade at all costs, they are able to prevent Ganyavesha plunging the blade deep into their bodies again. Ganyavesha's second slash on Asha goes so wide of the mark that she clumsily teeters on the edge of the platform, earning the jeers of the crowd.

Asha murmurs something under her breath, then loops an astonishingly graceful path around Ganyavesha to try to strike at her from the opposite side. She puts the full force of her strength into the blow.

Cast grace as a swift action to move without provoking an AoO. Move action to get around to Ganyavesha's other side, setting up a flank with Zarina. Since I'm flying, I would hope I could stay out of the tentacles' reach - even if I can't, though, I will risk it, since the tentacles would have to roll fairly well to hit my CMD.

Her blade easily slips past Asha's defenses, and Zarina's magics protect her from a particularly savage blow from Ganyavesha. Performance Combat Check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
The crowd slowly turns in your favor, as Ganyavesha's dominance over the fight begins to falter.

Another good round for you guys, go for it! You've only got one more image left, Zarina. She caught you on that second strike.

"Let's see," the multiple Simons say in a musing tone. "Where did I leave...? Ah, yes."

The Simons all flick their wrist at the exact same time, and shurikens go flying, glittering in the sunlight as they whirl towards Ganyavesha. Only one is real, of course, but the display certainly looks pretty.

Ranged attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26. Damage if successful: 1d2 ⇒ 2. The attack and damage roll are without all the buffs factored in. ^^; I lost track a little...

And please add a DC18 Fort. save for Giant wasp venom, or 1d2 ⇒ 2 Dex. damage. This poison stays effective for 6 rounds until she makes her save.

The Simons collectively fling a hail of shuriken at Ganyavesha, who notices the glint out of the corner of her eye. She bends away from the warrior women, letting the blades fly by her.

Again, Zak fires a quartet of arrows at Ganyavesha, and again, she cuts down all but one of them. Her face grows worrisome, however, as the attack she dodged from Simon sets Asha up perfectly. After her second strike, Asha feels something give, and strikes her fellow Vudrani square in the midriff. She staggers back a few steps, the drops to the ground, unconscious.

The crowd leaps to its feet at the sudden end to the fight, cheering your names in victory!

Zarina catches the unconscious frame of the warrior she had just dispatched, and flies her down to the ground. "Poogs, would you mind healing her, as the battle has already been decided .". As she sets the warrior down, Zarina's claws and fangs retract, and she loses the ferocity in the eyes, catching her breath for a few seconds.

"If you am wanting, Poog supposes," he grumbles.

He touches the unconscious woman's form, and a healing warmth washes over her.

"Am any of rest of you wanting help?"

Simon bows his head to the crowd, and then rejoins the others.

"You all did magnificently," he compliments them.

Turning to Ganyavesha, he extends a hand as soon as she has woken up.
"Madame, you are extremely impressive. A hand up?"

Female Human (Vudrani) monk of the four winds 4 / paladin 8

Asha, looking beaten and battered and bleeding from several slashes from Ganyavesha's kukri, does not seem to carry much of her usual good humor. While the rest of the group clusters around Ganyavesha herself, the monk crosses to where her fellow Vudrani had dropped her blade, picking it up and scowling. "Filthy thing," she murmurs, before dropping it over the edge of the platform.

Ganyavesha gasps as Poog lays a hand upon her, her eyes snapping open, and gasping for breath. The wounds on her body close, and she smiles up to Simon. "Of course, Warrior Greer!", she says, a smile coming easily to her face. Her large hand encompasses his, and she allows him to help her to her feet. She notices Asha's state, and heads over to her. "You fought well, my sister," she says, bowing with her hands pressed tightly together. "Please, allow me to repair that which I caused." She chants a few words in the same strange tongue, and lays a hand on Asha's shoulder. Warmth flows from Ganyavesha into Asha's body, and many of her wounds close. Healing: 5d8 + 13 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 7, 1) + 13 = 35 She then takes Asha's hand, and holds it aloft, gesturing towards her and the other Warriors with her on the fight stage. Even in defeat, she has lost none of her good will, it seems.

The Emissary has risen from his throne, and calls for silence. "Well done, Warriors of the Five Elements. With the Test of Three Towers behind you, you now advance to the third day. You will return tomorrow to defend yourselves against another worthy foe in the fight stage. Please accept this gift as your trophy from the fight." Marythsan has descended the ziggurat's steps, carrying a large wooden box. He presents it to you all and opens it, revealing a finely crafted heavy flail. He offers it to you, box and all.

"Lovely," Simon says, nodding to Marythsan, "but not quite my style. One of you, perhaps?" he asks, turning to the others.

Asha blushes, as Ganyavesha's display of generosity makes her feel slightly embarrassed about her own petty actions with regard to her opponent's weapon. She nods her thanks and presses her palms against the other woman's. "Your skill is phenomenal," Asha tells her frankly. "I can imagine few other warriors with the ability to withstand five such as us for even as long as you did."

Later, when Marthysan offers the box, Asha steps forward and takes it with a bow, then lifts the weapon from its container and swings it flashily over her head, for the benefit of the watching crowd. As she replaces the weapon within the box, she murmurs to the others, "We can sort out who gets it later - we needn't make the Emissary or sir Marthysan wait on us to sort it out."

As Asha accepts the prize, the Emissary speaks once again. "Prepare yourselves to be tested again tomorrow, Warriors - though you have acquitted yourselves well, so have the remaining teams, and any one of them could call themselves Champions. And to the victor, the most glorious reward imaginable!" The Emissary raises his arms, and fireworks streak to the sky, exploding in brilliant colors. The crowd cheers as a monk motions you to follow him off the fight stage.

As soon as the party has left the stage - and the hearing of the audience and the officials - Simon chuckles and shakes his head. "Honestly," he says, "such theatrics. Oh, well. What say you all to a restorative cup of tea? After a due application of Detect Poison, of course."

The goblin witch shrugs.

"Poog can drink tea, Poog suppose."

"Am anyone else hurt?"

Female Human (Vudrani) monk of the four winds 4 / paladin 8

"Theatrics," Asha replies smiling, "are what this is all about. Passion, excitement, thrilling derring-do - that is what they have all come for, that is what will move them beyond the ordinary routine of their lives into something grander, something transcendant. That is the purpose of art, and make no mistake - we are artists here, each and every one of us. We have a duty to that art to make certain our audience is as fulfilled by it as possible."

She agrees cheerfully to the suggestion of tea, but her smile dims a little at Poog's question. "Even after Ganyavesha healed me, I am still somewhat wounded. Also... that blade of hers. It carried an enchantment like the touch of a wraith, drawing out my very life's energy. I know a spell to restore it, but it is beyond my ability to cast. If you can do so, however..."

"I meant the Emissary's theatrics, my dear," Simon says, chuckling. "Our own theatrics were more... purposeful."

The old man chuckles a bit at Poog's theatrics with his terrier familiar.
