Out of curiosity, why is Veccio alone? It was never made clear that that was part of how this had to go down, and, frankly, it's odd that you'd allow Lirotha and Rocco to go as a group but not allow Mels and Veccio to do the same.

Echoing that. I'm back from the con (with a case of Con Plague) and able to post at my usual active hours, but I'd like to know whether I'm actually alone and why, since Mels' post said she was staying close.

It's my fault, somehow I missed the part where Mel said she was with Veccio. No problem though, just consider the guards have seen you both. The map is up and the guards are behind the fence so you have some time to decide what to do (they need to climb the fence or to get out of the main door on the other side of the building in order to get you.

They are fenced in right now Veccio and will be distracted for the next minute or less.

Some Possible (Suggested) Options:

1. Just turn and walk into the deepest part of the crowd as soon as possible, and hope they lose you. Then run when you are out of their sight.

2. Bluff it! Tell them you were just wondering if they were hiring anyone for anything (don't let on its a prison of course). You are new in town, or just lost a previous job so are looking for work.

3. REALLY BLUFF it! Tell them you are looking for a Red-Haired dwarf who owes you money. That should shut them up quickly. (Just hope they won't want to go get the dwarf!)

4. Or just play the dumb nobleman wandering Old Kintargo for the first time and tell them you were just curious of the big structure and what it was for.

5. Any other crazy ideas?

All of these options have both good and bad possible consequences for you, the revolution, and our possible success on this mission.

My suggestion: Which would be the most fun for you to play out?

I have a lot of questions about how this is going down. How tall is the fence? How many seconds did it take the guards to clamber over it? Is there really no one else anywhere on the roads by this thing? Since we're going to combat, things like that are relevant to any strategy we might be able to come up with.

The fence is 4 to 5 feet tall and not that difficult to climb (they climbed it taking 10 on climb as they didn't feel threatened)

The guards reached you before you could run away, make it 10 seconds if you need an extimate.

There's no one behind Sallix Salt Works, the rear of the edifice isn't distant from the walls and the place is pretty infamous. There are people near the front though, mainly because of Lirotha's harrow reading.

Basically here you had 3 options: run away when noticed (they would have lost aturn following you and you could have disapperared easily enough), stay there and try to bluff your way out of trouble (you did but having noticed you they reached you and then they managed to pass their sense motive check), start a fight.

OK guys.

One of the guards is down already.

If we can take out the other guard quickly enough, this may be our chance to just go ahead and hit this place and get the prisoners out quickly right NOW. GM says the back part of the building is quiet otherwise, correct?

Basically: We've blown the stealth approach. right now there are only 8 total guards suspected to be present (plus the Dwarf). With these 2 guards out of the way quickly enough (speculating) that's nearly 1/4 of their forces already out of the way!

If we wait and come back later, the forces here will probably be prepared and bolstered against us.

What do you guys think:
If the chance presents itself, we push forward?

So here's the situation.

I haven't been in a good place lately (again). My desktop computer has died due to a hard drive issue, and my one-year-old tablet has decided to stop working as well. This restricts me to posting on my phone, which is amazingly difficult due to a cracked screen and prohibitively slow loading times. I'm up against a deadline for job searching, I can barely afford to pay my bills, and the constant stress is leaving me pretty drained.

Right now, I'm at a friend's house posting this. I'll be around, and trying to post occasionally from my phone, but until Microsoft get me my replacement device, I'll be spotty at best.

I do maintain regular contact with Meliandri's player, so I'm not entirely out of reach.

I would like to make a minor request, and I'm not sure why I managed it this way in the first place, but I ended up getting a MW quarterstaff when my main melee weapon is a starknife. Since the cost is the same either way (300gp) can I switch my MW to my starknife? I can definitely understand it if you say no.

Sure, no problem, go for it.

You haven't used the quarterstaff yet, so it's like it was never there in the first place, since you just joined and gained nothing from it.

Usually I roll initiative in order to speed things up a bit, but I see nothing wrong with you doing it if you want as long as the rolls come quickly. What feature are we talking about by the way? I didn't post Initiative yet because we are in a surprise round atm.

It should be noted that I'm in pretty tight communication with Veccio's player. She's had serious computer issues that *should* be resolved, and a solid week-and-a-half long illness. I think I owe everyone an explanation, and an apology.

In my circle of gamer friends, I'm known as the one with terrible luck. When I play at a PFS table, my dice conspire against me, seldom rolling above a 9. When someone gets sick, I always pick it up. If technological eff-ups happen, they're always to me. I'm the bad luck magnet that soaks the bad stuff so everyone else can be awesome and have a good time.

So it dismayed, but didn't surprise me when, shortly after getting my replacement tablet, my charger stopped working, and I had to wait for a replacement to arrive (and it was only through goodwill that I was able to get one).

Then I came down with sinusitis.

Then I had to start involuntary volunteer work to keep my welfare payments (remember, I'm unemployed [not for lack of trying], and the Australian job market is tanking).

Then I developed laryngitis.

It sounds ridiculous, but it's all true - and my friends would back me up and say it wouldn't happen to anyone but me!

The sinusitis has passed, and the laryngitis is on its way out (finally!). I'm hoping to return to my (ir)regularly-scheduled posting soon. I'm sorry for my radio silence, and I wish I could promise more regular posts, but... the simple fact is, I don't know *how* life's going to kick me next.

I believe in Karma, but whoa...

My wife lost her job 9 months ago, and we haven't been able to make a full House payment since then (we are working it out with the bank).

I've been working 12 hours a day, 3 or 4 days a weeks trying to keep as much money as I can coming in...(I'm here now!)

ON top of that..

My wife recently had to have a hysterectomy due to endometriosis (her parents paid for it), so was unable to Uber for the last several weeks (the only steady income she was able to get recently) and then when she was able to do it, her car broke down. (Her parents paid for that too.)

THEN she got a part time job recently, and while parked legally, her car was hit by someone pulling out. (Luckliy we don't have to pay for that) and now she can't Uber in her off time until the car is fixed again...

Then there is the truck incident...
While taking our son's crib to someone who bought it (for $25), the truck my wife was driving (and borrowed from our neighbor) had the drive shaft fall off in transit. She was stuck, in the middle of the day in 102 degree Texas weather onthe highway, with no money and the owner of the truck (our neighbor who let us borrow it) threatened to call the cops on my wife and report the truck stolen rather than pay for the towing himself. We are now paying the ($200) bill for the towing eventually once we have the money...we did get the $25 dollars for the crib at least I guess.

All in all, you aren't the only one with bad luck!

NOTE: I am lucky enough to have access to decent computers and internet on a regular basis both at home and work, so I'm really not complaining here. Just trying to commiserate and hope telling you my plight helps a little with yours?

In other news, I just finished reading up on some info on the message boards about phantoms and realized I did Kurglunn's hp incorrectly. I gave him a full HD at 1st level, when he should only have gotten half+1 like a regular monster. I've corrected the error in the alias and on his class line. Thankfully he hasn't taken any hits yet, so it hasn't affected combat in any way, but I wanted to make sure I fixed it before it became an issue.

Could I make a tactical request/suggestion or two?

Veccio: Until you can get healed or we can help with the Dwarf, I recommend attacking Defensively or going full Defense for your next couple of actions...

To the rest of the group...

Can anybody conjure something to help Veccio against the dwarf (a celestial badger or something)? I did not learn any summoning spells yet, and most of my ranged combat spells are used now. I can do regular ranged attacks once I'm out of melee, but now I have to heal myself ASAP.

Feel free to ignore me here: I'm just worried about losing Veccio to the mad dwarf.

I can't wait until Lirotha can finally cast Fireball...

I'd love to help out but I don't have summons right now. I may try burst of insight next round and try to demoralize Kossrani, but until one of these thugs goes down, it seems like we're pretty blocked up. Alternatively, Rocco could heal you and give you the chance to do some ranged attacks.
