As for the treasure, I don't have a strong preference...I suggest we just go with whatever our DM wants to use.

As for loot I like the ideas that have been thrown around so far.

I favor the loot system you described, to each according to his needs, then sell items that lay unclaimed and split the treasure evenly. If the fighter get a +1 longsword, everyone in the party benefits so we will still split gold per capita. Only claim items you can use, if all else fails and we can't decide who needs item more, we will roll off for it.

Nice work on the journal so far. Should be used to tickle your memories about lost story threads etc. Like it!

You may want to shift around some of the gear to the stronger characters or figure out a better way. At Heavy Load there will be some penalties.

Hmmm, i must be missing something, but not quite reaching 67 pounds with my math for heavy load. Regardless, if someone wants to carry the hooded lantern and maybe another item or two, I should be fine...

I've gotten my weight down to light by leaving the bedroll at the carriages. It's up for grabs if anyone wants it. I thought I at a light limit but I guess I miss added. I do everything by hand.

Okay, that looks right. I didn't see flasks of oil each weigh a pound. So if someone would want the lantern and oil flasks, I'll be fine. Anyone want them? If not, I'll just leave it here.

Thanks guys, I hate micromanaging all this so I want to get it right on the front end, and make sure we are all square from this point forward.

I will allow you to have sold off any extra/unwanted items (like bedroll or lantern/oil) for 100% value before we left, as I should've dealt with this then, but was too busy...If someone wants to take the bedroll and the lantern/oil fine, if not you guys can cash it in.

I will be starting a Loot tracker (attaching it at the top). This form has 3 tabs (like an Excel spreadsheet if you are familiar). First tab will have the loot that has been found and is not assigned to an individual. Often this will be unidentified items, or items the party has choosen to sell. Someone still has to carry this stuff (or other arrangements made).

The second tab will be cash on hand. When you buy stuff it should be reported here, when you gain coins or sell items, it should be a credit here.

The last tab has items assigned by individual so you can see who has gotten what loot and how much the value is. Sometimes parties like to see all that for making distribution decisions downstream.

Check out the tracker, make sure i have your starting gold right and check in on it frequently to make sure I have kept you up to date.

Alright, thanks for letting me correct my gear. I went ahead and sold the hooded lantern (2 lbs), 5 flasks of oil (5 lbs), and 2 trail rations (2 lbs).

I should have bought a MW backpack! Didn't realize I was so close.

If I drop the money you hold (which I don't tend to count towards encumberance for pocket change) you fall back to right on Medium. Any 0.1 lb you add will put you over however, so be careful.

I'm sure Agatha would like to hold onto my hard earned cash!

She would prefer heavy items. Carrying someone elses money... feels wrong to her ;-)

(In all seriousness, its the heaviest least immediately useful thing I own, so if no-one wants to carry it (which is fine), then I'll just dump it).

Trust me in cold weather a bedroll is about the most useful thing.
Agatha will gladly carry it.

Ok, so maybe I shouldn't been ok with where I was. One of these days I'll remember that the wizard doesn't go at the back of the party but the middle. That's where he is in all my RL games.

I'd like to store all my non-combat gear in my backpack, then remove the backpack when I need faster movement or to make skill checks.

However, I can't see what action it is to shrug off a backpack. Is that a free, swift, or move action?

Normally dropping items is a free action. Picking them back up is a move action and may provoke depending on the circumstances.

Great. I'm going to stow all my gear except for my armor and daggers on my backpack. When combat starts or I need to make a skill check, I am planning to shrug it off. I'll still indicate when I am doing that, but wanted to let you know my plan beforehand so you know all my other gear is stowed there.

Careful where you leave your things, you have a less than reputable ranger traveling with you, of course you don't know that...yet :P

LOL, I suggest investing in a mastercraft backpack as soon as possible, I can carry some of things that you wouldn't need right away, as long as it doesn't take me over light weight. Not even getting any medium armor till I can afford it in mithril.
