I say we start shopping, KC hasn't posted in our game since Apr 20th.

He didn't post anywhere until last week, but I see that he posted in a game thread that he was going to be joining them again. I posted to try to get his attention, but I don't know that he's been back.

I also went to the Google Spreadsheet map and "replied" to the editors/viewers -- I assume that one or more of the players will get that, but hopefully it will also go directly to Kacy.

I received the email from the Google spreadsheet message. Hopefully that will get to Kacy as well. Looked at his recent posts on another thread. He stated, "Work has been quite slammed lately and I've had a lot going on elsewhere. I'm still interested in sticking with these games though, so I will try to find some time to get caught up soon!"

Hard to do a game your DM'ing if you are struggling to do the ones you are playing in. If nothing within 24 hours of that Google email, then we should post on Gamers Connection.

Sounds fair.

A heads up from me. I will be leaving for Myrtle Beach SC on a golf trip on the 12th and coming back on the 15th. I will not have access to a computer to post during that time. I will be back and able to post on the 16th. Maybe by then Kacy will be back or we'll have someone new leading this crazy band.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 4

Crazy? Pfft, we prefer the term "Reality challenged" don't you know?
I'm going to be content as long as the game doesn't fold, we are doing well I think. Just hope that if we get a new Dm, he or she won't forget to pick up on the sub-plots we are developing.
Kacy was good at spinning those.

Bump...

And since I really don't want to see this fall by the wayside, I'm debating possibly trying to pick it up. I'm pretty sure I'm not up to the standards of some of the DM's I've seen, though, and would rather play... but if it comes to that, what would the rest of you think of such an idea? And what would happen to Camillo? Drop out of the story, become a DMPC, something else?

Wow. That's a very generous offer. I'll bump the gamer connection thread again. If nothing bites by Friday I'd be willing to take up your offer and I'm sure you'd do great as a DM. I'd have no problem with Camilo being a DMPC especially because of his relationship with Ameiko. Thanks again for the offer. I know it's a sacrifice.

If I had the available time, I would have offered the same. But I struggle to keep up the games I'm already running.

The only problem once you take over is that you can't really come back as a regular PC since you've now have read the module.

I hope that becomes an issue, but you might be surprised. I do pretty good at not letting my faulty memory guide my character's decisions -- and if I feel I can't make a fair choice, my character will offer suggestions, but not answers.

I've been playing in a Savage Tide tabletop game after studying it because I wanted to run it. The DM's had no issues with my prior knowledge.

And recieved. The character sheets are mostly just so I can work on post while at work since Paizo is sometimes blocked by the companies web filter. Also I like to have everyone's emails incase something comes up and this saves me the trouble of copy and pasting them in from the boards to my contacts.

Here is a doc I made up for my RL Runelords game. Everyone is free to look at it and determine how much info they are aware of. Rullis probably knows all of if while Kerrec might just know about #41 (plus all the places he's been in town).

Sandpoint

Bard (Arcane Duelist) 2/Rogue 2 AC 21/14/17, hp 25/25; Effect:

Camillo's backstory is a local boy who left and returned to town after several years. He might well be familiar with all of the places in town that are more than say five years old -- I don't believe he was in town at the time of the church burning, etc., so any newer construction (like the new White Deer Inn) would not be familiar.

Sound reasonable? If so, are there shops that would be unknown to Camillo?

Opened up the doc to everyone, sorry about the confusion.
@Camillo: You probably are not familiar with 4,5 & 9 and the people at some locations might be new but all this info is easily obtainable and you probably picked up most of it from Rullis or from your patrol(s).

No confusion - I could see it, but I tried to replace the 't' in birch with an 'r' - and figured I could ask and you could tell me know if you didn't want me editing it.

Kerrec:

Since you are pretty familiar with swarms do you mind if I as you a few questions?
1. Does squeezing apply to swarms? I've always played it that it does not, but I think I decided this purely because of personal preference not because of anything I read. I always just had them fill 4 adjacent squares the shape wasn't an issue.
2. Swarms still provoke AoO's the just can’t take them correct? So if the swarm in the current fight moves two squares into the stairs it would provoke from everyone who isn't flat-footed right?
Thanks

G.M.E.W. wrote:

GMEW:
Sqeezing does not apply to swarms as they can take up a three dimensional space (crawling on walls and ceilings, etc.). So if you have a 10' space swarm in a 5' space corridor, they will crawl on the walls and ceilings to fit.

Swarms made up of creatures that are smaller than Tiny-size do not provoke AOOs for the simple fact that only area effect spells and conditions harm them. AOOs only apply to melee attacks which are utterly useless against swarms that are made of diminutive or fine creatures. This rat swarm is made up of Tiny creatures so they will provoke AOOs and will take half damage from slashing and piercing weapons.

Thanks again for the help. So with rat swarm in the hall it would only occupy a 10' X 5' space not a 20' X 5'space?

So a 10' x 10' rat swarm could occupy a 10' length of the corridor floor and it would be 10' high and then a 10' length and height of either wall parallel to the area it occupies on the floor.

Kerrec:
I just talked to 4 other GM's before posting in the other thread and they all said that it would spread out to 5' x 20' so I'm going to run it like that since thats how I started. I'll think about changing it for future encounters though because what you say also makes sense too.

Intro 1 TABLE 2 MAP Intro 1 TABLE 1 MAP King of the Storval Stairs MAP

Yeah XP? I don't see the previous GM's posting it so I'm assuming they tracked it themselves for just ignored it completely. I'm good we either, or with you tracking it so I wanted to see what you would prefer. I think I'd prefer having you guys track it or just ignoring xp.

Probably easiest to ignore it and level when the AP specifies (or at GM discretion).

Busy weekend with the holiday I'll check in when I can.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 4

For a wizard, levels are everything. But I am fine with whatever, as long as I get them, and some time for learning spells and making magic items. The "how" is less important than the "why" so to speak.

Intro 1 TABLE 2 MAP Intro 1 TABLE 1 MAP King of the Storval Stairs MAP

Rereading the previous GM's stuff it seems like they just leveled you at the recommended point in the AP. I think I will keep this and I'll just let you know when to level.
Now I also noticed that you guys are going at a very fast pace, correct me if I'm wrong but seems like you went from 1st to 2nd took 2 days (game time). I'd like to see about slowing things down a little, add some more RP events and "down time". I know since this is a pbp things already are slower than a real life game but there is a lot of great background in this AP and I would hate for you to miss out because we were rushing to the next combat. That being said please feel free to let me know to speed things up if things get bogged down.

Bard (Arcane Duelist) 2/Rogue 2 AC 21/14/17, hp 25/25; Effect:

I'm fine with whatever pace you want to set. I think he avoided some of the side encounters in the adventure because they might slow things down too much, but it's now your game, play it as you will.

Even though we've 'just' learned that leveling up will be a bit slower, I'm in a mood to think about that next level. Does anyone have any thoughts on the future direction of my bard/rogue? I'm still trying to wrap my head around the intent of the original player when he created this particular character.

Camillo: Look here for the original recruitment thread. The original player Solarious talked about his ideas for the character (after changing his mind).

Male Half-Elf Paladin 3

I like letting past experience dictate where the character goes (unless I had been aiming for a Prestige Class). That might be a way to look at it next level.

True, but I like to know the history, too.

Bard (Arcane Duelist) 2/Rogue 2 AC 21/14/17, hp 25/25; Effect:

Looks like his plan was to alternate levels of bard and rogue for a while. He indicated the eventual goal was mostly bard levels, but I'm not sure I'm sold on the court bard archetype, so he may end up more rogue than bard...

Next level, though, bard.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 4

Something I always wanted to try myself was to alternate between bard and rouge until I could qualift for the Duelist prestige class. For some reason, that build always sounded like it might be really fun to play.

Oh, I like it! I'll have to do some crunching of numbers -- I've never tried that PrC! Thanks for the suggestion!

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 4

Haha, sometimes what is good for the gander is also good for the goose.

Bard (Arcane Duelist) 2/Rogue 2 AC 21/14/17, hp 25/25; Effect:

OK, just thinking out loud on this duelist idea (mostly because I don't want to go do something productive at the moment):

Requirements:
BAB +6 --> Bard 4/Rogue 4 would do it the fastest; more levels of either would cost me at least one more level (Bard 5/Rogue 4 or Bard 4/Rogue 5, minimum)

He already has the necessary skills. He has none of the feats, so that would dictate his 3rd-, 5th-, and 7th-level feats to be Dodge, Mobility, and Weapon Finesse. Sadly, that doesn't match his current longsword preference -- neither does his use of a heavy shield, of course.

The lack of an Intelligence bonus makes the Canny Defense ability less enticing.

Hmm... I think the build has possibilities, but I'm not sure Camillo will be the right fit. Obviously, it would be a long time before I could really try it out.

Ooh, Arcane Trickster... how does that fit? Oh, shiny!!

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 4

Hmmm, I'll admit I had not really looked at Camillos stats, but you, maybe the Duelist is not the best one aftera..
As for the Arcane trickster, sure, 4 Levels as bard for the spellcasting, and three Rogue for the sneak attack.

Bard (Arcane Duelist) 2/Rogue 2 AC 21/14/17, hp 25/25; Effect:

Oh, and use Versatile Performance to keep my Bluff high, take Improved Feint, and I can get more mileage out of the sneak attack damage! I like that!

I'm not a fan of the Court Bard archetype - the more I look at it, the less I like it, so more rogue levels or a PrC really feel like the way to go...

I will probably continue alternating Bard and Rogue until Bard 4/Rogue 3, as you suggest, and start taking Arcane Trickster levels. Fun, fun!

Link re: paladin's smite

I didn't have a lot of time to look, but the consensus on this thread was one double-damage hit per smite, the first time the paladin connects with the smited foe. One of them also states that you can expend additional smites against the same foe to get additional double-damage hits -- I don't see anything against that idea, but I've never seen it anywhere else, either, so I'm not sure it's correct.

Anyway, the results of my little bit of research...

They were takeing a beating. If she would have survieved the last round she would have been doing another bust and more than likely that would have just left Kerrec up. I hope the fight wan't too long or annoying for everyone. I actualy made the Demon a bit more aggressive than detailed in the AP. If I ran her as wrote she would have spent most of the time invisiable and only attacked when at full hp.

Too right, one more blas of negative energy and we might have been down to one.

Regarding the trait, maybe something to reflect the amount of negative damage we had to deal with? If not for her negative energy bursts, we would have had a much easier time of it.

A bonus to Will Saves? Maybe just a +2 bonus for negative energy bursts.
