December 26th Update

The manticore is successful in fending off Krogar's attack, but Abu is able to take advantage of its laxing attention and put a stab right in a fleshy area.

Dessarin hexes the creature and then falls and hits the earth in bear form.

Falling damage: 6d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 4, 4, 3) = 22

Dessarin impacts into the earth, his bear form wavers and then dissipates from the force of the fall.
3 damage carries over to his normal body.

The manticore eyes the two combatants that braved such a close encounter with itself. You could almost see a smile on its lips as it prepares to maul you both in the air, so your bodies could fall to the earth.

Bite on Abu: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Claw on Krogar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Claw on Krogar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Abu takes 7 damage as the manticore's fangs buried into his shoulder. It's saliva burning you, and causing you to cough and hack.

Krogar is able to fend off the first blow with a quick deflection from his own weapon, but he slips as he struggles to learn how to fight on the mount. The second attack misses by a hair, Krogar barely dodging as he hefts himself back into place on his mount.

Dessarin immediately goes to transform again into the bear. Closing the gap and swiping twice at the creature. Letting out a deep roar, the fur surrounding this begins to vibrate as a secondary roar pierces the brain telepathically.

Unbridled ferocity and bear spit fly about in the fury that is Dessarin.

Bear Multiattack:

December 26th Update

Will *omit* Dessarin's actions as they don't make sense against an aerial opponent. You may take two actions next round, one of which could be to call your steed. Abue may take two actions as well.

Knight Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Knight Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Knight Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

While two spears fly off mark, one does indeed pierce the manticore dealing5 damage to the beast.

Its eye's glow with fury and it releases a resounding roar into the air! This strikes the primal center of your steeds and they cower and drop in elevation naturally to distance themselves from the manticore.

Each player decreases in elevation by 30 ft (you are all about 30 feet above ground now except Dessarin) and must make Animal Handling Check DC 14.
If you succeed, nothing happens.
If you fail by less than 5, you must spend an entire round to calm and control your steed before you can take a move action other than jumping off.
If you fail by 5-10, you steed attempts to buck you off. Make a Dexterity Save of 12 to stay on the seat. You still need to spend a round to be able to move your steed again.
If you fail by more than 10, you steed bucks you off before you realize what's going on and you fall to the ground taking 3d6 fall damage.

All PCs are up!

The Manticore, seemingly pleased with the fear it has invoked. It easily dodges Jamenas's strike and the rock thrown by Dessarin barely reaches its height (though it is impressive how high it reaches).

It focuses on the isolated prey in front of him and starts to rend at his body and tear at his limbs.

Darwin take 8 damage. Mechanically, I'll considered the manticore grappled so it can't move while you're on it Darwin. It gets a save to throw you off though like most things.

The manticore, unable to manuver in midair with this human on its back, sends out three volleys of spikes quickly before trying to shake Darwin off again.

Attack Dessarin: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Attack Krogar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Attack Unconscious Knight: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Dessarin is hit by one of the spikes, narrowly missing his steed. However, only audible to Dessarin, the gurgle of the death throes of a knight impaled to the ground are soft. One spike through his neck, three through his chest, and one through his foot. The gurgling stops, and no breath is drawn from this knight ever again.

The manticore whirls its body around trying to throw Darwin off.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

DM only:

14
Acrobatics Manticore: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

All players are up. Dessarin may take two action. Darwin, as an action and if you are still on the beast, you may make a DC 18 Athletics check to hold its wings and stop its flying so both of you plummet to the ground.

Abu directs his mount to the ground, jumping off when it's about 10 feet above the manticore.

As he drops, he draws his sword and gets ready to attack, when he is able to.

Trying to be around the beast.

Dessarin looks deeply at the manticore, into it. He reaches into its mind and whispers a discordant melody. Dissonant Whispers play a painful song in the beasts mind.

Dessarin twice over pushes the melody into the brain of manticore. The melody being harmonized with the voices of small children. A creepy melancholy chant which strikes its own blow.

If nothing else, that description was creepy and dissonant.

December 26th Update

Darwin save to not be thrown off: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
You forgot to make a save to see if you'd stay on the manticore or get shaken off, so I made it for you

initiative is still as follows: Manticore, Darwin, Jamenas, 3 Knights, Krogar, Dessarin, and the Abu.

So...several things happen at once, and as the rest of the knights crest over the hill to join in the battle, they will tell this tale till they lay in their graves. First, Darwin uses his strength to restrain the manticore's wings which sends them both plummeting to the earth.

Falling Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 5, 1) = 13
Both Darwin and the Manticore take 13 damage

Krogar sends another spray of holy fire as the manticore screams in pain and agony, but it seems its ferocity is enough to stave off much of the flame.
Dex save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

And then Dessarin approaches the beast and begins to whisper. Though you may be far, even Abu is able to catch glimpses of non-sensical maddening whipers. The small flecks you hear are unnerving, but you can't even imagine what a prolonged exposure the manticore is subject to.
For future reference Dessarin, please roll your own potential damages and post the Spell save DCs as well.
Dissonant Whispers Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4) = 13
Dissonant Whispers Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6) = 11

And at last the Manticore lays motionless, its eyes dull, and his breath forever lost.

The following hour is spent with the knights gathering the injured (most if not all of you) and their dead. They push the feast tables to the side of the tower and move in many of the beds the knights personally own for you all to rest in. There are fresh pitchers of water and food saved from the feast for you to enjoy. An attendant is available if you ring a bell, but most of the knights have left to give their comrade a proper goodbye.

Level up! You guys advance. Please post all changes to the discussion thread and don't forget to update your tagline.
You have some time to talk amongst yourselves, before they return.

Krogar goes among the injured and Channels Divinity, spreading it among the most injured (except for Darwin and Dessarin).

15 points of healing - on the knights and the party - not sure if anything goes to the party after distribution

He glares at Dessarin."You, what were you thinking off shapeshifting in the middle of the air to jump on manticores? Did someone drop you on the head when you were little?" He then turns on Darwin.

"That must've been the stupidest thing I've ever seen. After you saw what happen to Dessarin, did you think what might have happened if the Manticore threw you off? Or you failed to land on its back properly?" Krogar rants at Darwin. "Correction. I don't think any of you even did think. Don't expect me to fix you up after you idiots pull a stunt like THAT." Krogar growls at Darwin and Dessarin.
