Rocky quickly finds that the wind is too much for him to fly and he returns and shrugs
Rocky can't handle the wind. Shall we just go for it?
While I am thinking of it, when I hit level 7 would you permit me to take improved familiar but just give Rocky a little buff, like the ability to speak?
Galean "Rafter" Santiago |
You know, you could've just decided the weather was fine to expedite things, or at least not had a 1/5th chance of torrential rains.
Now where's the fun in that?
Galean turns bright as the berries as the conversation takes place. "Uh, yeah...", he says, trying not to sound out of place. "I say we go now. We've got no archers, and they might." His voice is surprisingly easy to hear, despite the horrid wind.
"Take the huts on, one at a time.", he says, drawing his cutlass and starting to wallow in the soon-to-be mud. Start with the west-most one?

Nymph shrugs, she couldn't see much either.

Ayre is ready to move, after reporting that Rocky was unable to see anything

You know, you could've just decided the weather was fine to expedite things, or at least not had a 1/5th chance of torrential rains.
Never ask the GM for more information unless you think is absolutely necessary :) I have since found a well-liked weather generator on the boards that I will use from now on but there are many advantages to torrential rain: for example dogs can't smell you, guards are most likely huddled around buildings, they can't set slave huts on fire to kill innocents. That's just off the top of my head. Also, as movies will show you, heavy rain is visually just super. That being said I'll break the heavy rain/wind so you can use your bow Rambo-style but it's still raining pretty heavily.
Roll Perception and/or Stealth to advance unseen. Or if you don't care, roll Initiative!
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Sure. You'll have to run any changes by me naturally.

Yay! Wait... *headdesk*
Perception Take #2: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
A Nat 30 should count for something shouldn't it? Those things are rare.
DM Davy Jones |
Ha! They certainly are. You got a laugh at least :)
Nymph, you see two guards and a dog huddled underneath the dubious cover of the grass roof of the hut trying to avoid the rain as best they can.
As you approach the dog raises its head and barks at your approach as you cross from the trees.
Initiative (Ayre): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Galean "Rafter" Santiago |
Galean raises his arms in the windy air. Dust and hay from behind the guards begins to swirl and form a vortex, as a distant thundering sound is heard.
Summoning a Small Air Elemental at G6.
DM Davy Jones |
That's inside the hut Galean and you can't see it so I'm going to place the elemental at G4. If you'd prefer another place not in a building let me know.
Concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 61 1-20 being a miss.

Many apologies, I'm on the run more than I wanted to be today - it'll be tomorrow before I can update.
DM Davy Jones |
Yuki, per my earlier note terrain is difficult due to the rain so you can't five foot step - I'll move you and count your first attack (which works out since that's the only attack that hit) so you have an extra arrow.[/ppc]
Yuki manages to land one arrow on a charging dog but it fails to kill the animal even as it howls in rage.
Nymph, prone fails to connect but Galean's elemental and Ayre's magic missiles kill the pirate who stabbed her.
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Nymph fails to attack the dog with either her sword or bite, Galean's air elemental proves similarly useless and Yuki's arrow sails over the heads of the attackers.
Galean's thundercloud bravely moves to E7 where no dogs are.
Ayre, blatantly ignoring the dire warnings posted in every civilized area by the GSPCA, tries to set dogs on fire.

Galean "Rafter" Santiago |
Exams week, guys, I'm sorry.
The whirlwind turns its gaze upon the dog attacking Nymph. The sound of a hurricane blasts out for a moment, as it attempts to slam the dog into the wall.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Galean himself points his cutlass towards the dog on the left, shouting, "Obey me, storms!" The thundercloud begrudgingly conforms to Galean's desires, moving above the dog as Galean takes a step before Ayre and points his cutlass at the dogs. 5ft Step to D4, unless I can't 5ft. This time Galean's attacks land heavily, killing the two dogs attacking Nymph and allowing her to get up... while the other whimpers sadly in the mud.
Meanwhile the guards approach from the distance, yelling at you to surrender.
Yuki Okano |
With a brief reprieve in fighting, Yuki moves next to Nymph, casts a healing spell and gently touches the ranger's shoulder. "Go get 'em."

The air elemental leaps in the air, going for a powerful attack on another guard.

The air elemental hits its guard at F7 hard before it vanishes into the ether from which it came and Yuki's arrow hits hard into his nearest compatriot at E8.
