DM Davy Jones |
Two tunnels, running East and West, branch off from the south side of the small grotto.
Nymph |
Nymph quickly scoops up he hat and holy symbol before Gal gets a chance to wear the snazzy hat.
Yuki Okano |
Yuki casts Detect Magic on all the stuff they find, and attempts to identify the magical items.
Feel free to make the Spellcraft checks for Yuki if you want, +5 to identify might pick up something.
DM Davy Jones |
Spellcraft (Yuki): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Spellcraft (Yuki): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Spellcraft (Yuki): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Probably want to rethink that now, don't you?
Yuki is puzzled by the hat and one of the scrolls, but two of the scrolls appear to be scrolls of cure light wounds.
Yuki Okano |
Hey, getting one of them is better than the none of them.
"Oh cool, those scrolls are healing spells! Maybe I won't have to use all of mine on healing." She ponders that for moment, then looks uncertain.
Yuki will take the Cure Light Wounds scrolls unless Galean wants to be the one that uses them.
Galean "Rafter" Santiago |
Eh. Doesn't really matter, as far as the scrolls go. I'll probably have a day off, first one in about three weeks soon, so I'll try and get the gear uploaded on the gear list.
Galean jumps at the sight of familiar headwear, before asking Yuki in a surprisingly naíve voice, "They're probably alright, aren't they? I mean, there's no blood or anything...", looking around the tunnels. "Pick one, I guess?", he says, reaching in his pocket and taking out a doubloon. "Heads for East, Tails for West, you know, if we want to go and find them."
1d2, 1 is heads: 1d2 ⇒ 2
DM Davy Jones |
Website down when I get home, so awesome.
Ayre, you're not able to detect the properties of the hat, but you're able to determine the other scroll is a scroll of cure medium wounds
As you move through the tunnels you come across a small cavern, where the walls display strangely ribbed markings.
Yuki Okano |
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
"Anyone know what could cause that ribbing?" Yuki asks with some concern as she looks around.
Are there any skill checks we can make here?
DM Davy Jones |
Knowledge (Nature), but Perception would have worked too. Did you want to take a closer look?
Nymph |
Nymph shrugs while inspecting the ribbing along the walls.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
Yuki Okano |
Yuki tries to recall any story she might have heard that could explain the markings.
Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
DM Davy Jones |
As you approach you look at the markings and believe they are the result of wave action instead of decoration.
As Nymph peers closer she sees the floor she sees there are rusted iron bars beneath the seaweed - and with a groan muffled by sea water two creatures burst through the floor to come towards you with outstretched claws and slavering fangs.
Undead.
Knowledge (Religion) to identify.

Yuki Okano |
"Hey, these guys look like bad news, we should focus our attention on one at a time." Yuki suggests as she shoots two arrows at the northernmost creature (Y 37). Her marksmanship needs work, but at least she keeps her bow in hand.
Longbow 1 + PBS - RS: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 - 1 = 6

Galean "Rafter" Santiago |
Galean swims towards the creatures, Swim: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21, Z38, and swings his cutlass at them. "Why does it always has to be something to fight? I want, just once, to go to a place and get the treasure, no strings attached...", he says, murmuring as always.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Unfortunately, his ongoing rants drive his aim off.
DM Davy Jones |
The two creatures react as one of them is cut down by Nymph and Ayre's attacks, although Galean and Yuki's are ineffective.
The other one, snarling, tries to rend the druid into tiny pieces for its effrontery in suggesting gain without risk.

Galean "Rafter" Santiago |
Galean is too distracted by Nymph's spectacular swordwork to be able to avoid the ghoul's bite. Fort Saves: 2d20 ⇒ (4, 7) = 11 Nope on both. The ghoul bites deeply into the druid's flesh, and he begins letting go bubbles as he sinks.
Ayre |
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15. Ayre sends a spear at the creature. 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
DM Davy Jones |
Although Yuki and Ayre manage to damage the undead fiend it remains mobile. It attacks Nymph, trying to drag her down too.
Attack (Bite): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Attack (Claws): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Luckily the uncoordinated-but-somehow-nimble Ranger avoids the slashes of the monstrosity.
Yuki Okano |
Holding her bow in one hand, Yuki reaches down with the other to pull Galean up so his head is above the surface of the water. "No time to take a break." She says with a light grin, trying to keep her comrades spirits up.

DM Davy Jones |
Between them, Ayre and Nymph manage to finish off the creature.
Nymph, make a quick Fortitude check (DC 10) to avoid vomiting from the taste of rotting flesh in your mouth. Rotting flesh that's been in the ocean. For some time. In a humid climate.
It's not, well, pleasant.
DM Davy Jones |
Oh, you notice that one of the creatures has a battered greatcoat with five large silver buttons on it.
And you can explore the area at the bottom of the chamber, if you want to.
Nymph |
Fortitude: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Unlike her shark forbearers before her Nymph manages to hold down her breakfast while still spitting occasionally to get the taste of rotting flesh out of her mouth. She then floats down to the bottom to inspect around.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
DM Davy Jones |
Nymph, you're able to collect a good number of coins from the bottom of the ocean, 120 gp worth in various denominations. Good thing gold doesn't tarnish.
Yuki Okano |
While the others gather treasure, Yuki holds Galean aloft until his paralysis wears off. After giving him a reassuring pat, the oracle then tries to recover the arrows she fired. Satisfied when she's able to salvage two of them, she looks over her companions physical health, asking, "Do we need to use those healing scrolls yet?"
Arrow Recovery 1 bad 2 good: 3d2 ⇒ (2, 1, 2) = 5
Nymph |
After scooping all the coins up Nymph floats back up and gives the other woman a thumbs up.
Galean "Rafter" Santiago |
Galean wakes up from his paralysis and begins spitting left and right. "There's saltwater in my eyess! Aaargh!", he shouts, as he sees the others helping him up. He begins swimming himself, and continues on. "Want me to get some berries? I think I have some berries around here." he begins pillaging in his bag, grabbing a small pouch of dried fruit, and doing his magic on it. "Where are we going next?", he asks, munching on a berry. Berries: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7
DM Davy Jones |
There is only one way to go, and a tunnel opens into a wider cavern decorated with hundreds of leering skeletal parts, wriggling with worms. Four dark circular openings exit the chamber.
Roll perception!

So, Nymph sees the thing, but no one else does? Is it submerged? Just trying to figure out the appropriate response here in character.
Nymph |
Same here.
DM Davy Jones |
Based on the Perception rolls yes, Nymph is currently the only one who can see the creature.
Nymph |
Since you rolled inistiveiniative I assume the whatever-it-is is aggressively lurking and not just minding its own business?
