Fumbling off the horse, the dwarf's short legs were clearly not made for riding.

Never again if I don't have to... we have to go back to town on these. Might as well be friendly to the beast while it is in my service.

Pulling out his morning apple he offers it to the beast.

"Stay, I still don't see the point in these things."

Foxglove laughs good-naturedly at Nover's grumbling, asking, "so what brings a dwarf from the Five Kings Mountains to Sandpoint, good sir?"

After Nover's answer, he looks to Zella, "and where did you train for your singing and dancing, my lady?" He starts to walk into the woods, spear leaned casually upon his shoulder.

Female Human Bard

Zella accepts the help in dismounting.

"Where did I train? That is like asking one where they trained to walk and talk. I grew up watching my mother and aunts sing and dance and learned the same alongside my cousins."

DM Crispy wrote:

As if in agreement, the stallion rears back, nipping at Bellamy's guiding hand. As the party looks on, Aldern dismounts and leads his horse to the clearing. He pats the beast on the nose for a minute, they says firmly, "Stay!"

Reaching up, he grabs his longspear, setting it over his shoulder as he waits for you all. When Zella comes in, he offers her a hand of assistance in dismounting.

"Many thanks, let me guess, this horse is named Hemlock, no?" Said the sorcerer as he followed after the nobleman.

Bellamy looked about the many wooden sentinels that flanked them from all sides. While he had been to a few forests before, he still never grew bored of visiting them after a while in the city. The sounds and sights were enough to make him feel refreshed. He separated from the group, made a sudden dash and jumped to one of the sturdier branches.

Elaina reluctantly dismounts. "I hope that elf lady came through here recently. I don't want goblins bothering our horses." Not wanting to tie off her horse she mimics the nobleman. "Stay!"

A breeze ran past, shaking the leaves and bushes, causing the clothing of the would be hunters to flow in the direction it went. Bellamy savored the sweet music the wind and forest made together, he closed his eyes, trying to focus on nothing but that sweet, soft sound.

Elaina Newberry wrote:
"I hope that elf lady came through here recently. I don't want goblins bothering our horses."

"I do not think we'd be enjoying such serenity if our green friends had been here" Replied Bellamy, his eyes still closed, a jovial but slightly focused expression on his face.

Aldern laughs again at Elaina's comment. "I'm sure any goblin within miles is still in retreat from the attack on the City. And no doubt once they saw your group, they would retreat further still!"

Foxglove looks at Bellamy, a friendly smile on his face. "My friend Bellamy, are you a wizard of some sort? Where did you learn your skills?" He cocks his head quizzically as Bellamy takes to the trees.

"Herri, how long were you in Magnimar? Does a disciple of Iomedae stay put usually, or are you one of her traveling crusaders?"

A deep, low laugh came from Bellamy "Most wizards I met are not as happy to converse with others as I am" Said the sorcerer, a half grin on his facade.

Bellamy entered a semi crouch then launched himself in the direction of another branch that could bear his weight, doing a quick front flip before planting his feet on the arm of the next tree that would bear his weight.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25

"I am what people call a sorcerer, a person born with a talent for magic" With a flick of his wrist and a snap of his fingers, spheres of arcane light hovered along his arm for a few moments before wandering off and exploding with low pops and soft flashes.

"But these skills? Let us say my humble village was very boring and I was an overactive child" He snickered, running his fingers through his hair as an image of his village slide into his mind.

Herri looks about for Bellamy before speaking, "I bet Bellamy can bounce through the woods and scare out pretty much anything."

Afterwards Herri chuckles and tells Bellamy,

"Just kidding Bellamy there are no rooftops here." Herri begins to laugh even harder.

A laugh that was low in volume was the reply Herri received from the sorcerer "Your jest does give me an idea though, I could have a sound echo through the area...maybe the roar of one of the local predators? That would lead any prey into your spears, no?" An impish smile formed on Bellamy's lips as his eyes looked into the distance.

"Finding the boars is the hard part, the actual killing of is also the hard part. We wander around aimlessly looking for tracks, dung, any evidence that a boar was around. Follow any clues to it's current wherabouts and wait for it to charge us."

Pointing to the crossbar on Elaina's boar spear he continues.

"That right there is to stop the boar. If it charges you brace yourself and impale him on the spear. The crossbar is to stop it from going all the way down the spear and taking you with it. Crude yes, but it works. A bow or other weapon could be used to get it's attention, but it's not as elegant."

"A dog would be preferable, yes, but alas my poor hound was felled by the goblin raiders. Good Nover is correct. We keep our eyes and ears open, looking for evidence of the creatures. They are bad-tempered and foul, and will likely charge us if we get anywhere near them. They roam these woods in numbers, so I hope not to return empty-handed."

He looks to Zella and grins. "Missing out on your fine singing would cause me quite an upset. I fear nothing less than success will not do!" Aldern continues along a narrow game trail, his pace slow and relaxed, his manner easy. You get the feeling he is not a very accomplished hunter, as he chatters away.

"They charge aggressively and travel in packs. We really should have dogs!" Elaina bravely takes up a position behind Nover as they travel deeper into the forest. "I can use a bow OK. I just don't have one. Well, I have a goblin bow now, but it's icky."

Take ten on survival/perception for ten to search for tracks.

Female Human Bard

"Surely a boar can't be anymore challenging than several disgusting goblins, and we handled those just fine. Seems like the biggest challenge will just be finding one."

After the last of his companions moved forward at least three steps ahead, Bellamy leapt to the closest sturdy branch "I'll happily scout for you from above"

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 10 Any bonuses for high ground?

Feeling a bit better, but if I stop posting for 24 hours in the next few days, please do not panic and DM PC me as needed.

I'll give you a +2 circumstance bonus, for a 12.

The nobleman laughs at Elaina's comment about the goblin bow, then turns to Zella. "A boar is a fierce creature, my lady, and while not as cruel as a goblin, will fight on even when suffering multiple wounds. Tis why our spears have the cross guards pointed out by good Nover, here. But we shall be victorious! Roast boars and pleasant songs from lovely women are in my future, I know this!"

Bellamy sees nothing from his perch, at the moment.

The minutes drag into hours as the sun creeps overhead. The shade of the forest is likely the only thing saving all of you from becoming sweaty messes, but if the day heats up any more, you will likely all need a change by the time you are done.

Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Bellamy sees something rustling in a thicket about twenty yards away from the branches he is standing on.

Being closer to the ground does have some advantages, Nover looks for boar tracks hoping for a hint at where a boar might be. With his lucerne hammer drawn the armored dwarf is ready for anything.

Survival: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 If it's not a boar we are finding a boar now.

After sitting down on the branch and grabbing it firmly with his left hand, Bellamy shoved himself off it and hung instead of dropping down and alerting the attention of whatever it is he found.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

The sorcerer reached out with his right hand and lightly tapped Zella on her shoulder, then quickly placed his pointing finger to his smiling lips and then pointed towards the peculiarly shifting thicket It seems we found our prey He added mentally as his smile widened.

The stalwart dwarf keeps out a keen eye, and also notices the shaking foliage as Bellamy drops down, tapping Zella to alert her. The scene is quiet for a few breaths, then a wild boar with huge tusks comes bounding out, squealing in rage as it begins to charge at you!

Initiative:

Boar Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8

Round 1: Aldern, Zella, Herri, Elaina, Boar, Nover, Bellamy

Foxglove's eyes widen as he sees the boar charge at your group. He takes a step off the trail, setting his spear down, angling it up to meet the charge of the beast should it decide to rough it and have a go at him.

We're going to mind-theater this fight, if you don't mind. I'll roll randomly to see which person the pig will attack, unless one of you goes out of your way to make yourself a target.

Herri almost caught by surprise decides to provide a boost to his Dwarf friend Nover,

Zella keeps a cool head, watching the nobleman set his spear before him. She does the same, angling the spear to hopefully catch the wild pig before it gored her.

Herri puts his chips on Nover, reaching over and giving him a divine boost, courtesy of Iomedae.

Elaina exclaims to the party that a boar is indeed charging them, then has the presence of thought to step out of line before setting her spear.

Zella readied attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Elaina readied attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5

As the boar charges, the lack of familiarity with the boar spear causes problems for the two women, as both angle their spears incorrectly, failing to penetrate the beast's thick hide.

The boar runs right up to Zella, attempting to gore her with his tusks!

Boar tusk: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Tusk Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Zella takes a savage hit from the creature, a bright smear of red appearing through her punctured armor. She does not drop, but is clearly wobbly and in bad shape.

Nover & Bellamy, actions please.

The sound Bellamy heard was one he had heard before, not too often, but enough to remember it. The sound of leather armor failing under an attack, a sense of seriousness surged through him and a sober mask covered his jovial facade I hope Zella is not too badly hurt With a snap of his fingers and a horizontal swing of his arm, small spherical balls of flame flew from in front of him and towards the boar. They drew together just as they were about to slam into it and exploded into a curtain of peculiarly thick smoke.

Daze, Will Save, DC 13.

Bellamy, I believe Daze only works on humanoids. Care to retract and offer another action?

GAH! Completely missed, thanks for the opportunity to retract, alright then I'll just use ghost sound to make it think a lion is roaring behind it.

Ghost Sound, Will Save, DC 13.

Alright, I was waiting for the boar to make a move since I go after it.

Nover steps close to the creature, but not close enough to incur it's wrath.

"Zella, step away and get behind me, be careful now while I go after it."

He closes his eyes trying to remember the strength he has been blessed with. With a harsh breath his muscles bulge and eyes appear to have changed color to red.

Ragin' Lucerne Hammer: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 171d12 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

"WE'RE EATING GOOD TONIGHT!"

AC is now 14 with the penalty I take from rage and the fact that I'm not using a shield

Bellamy casts a spell, and it sounds as though a lion is roaring behind the boar. However, it is a very timid lion, and the boar remains unconvinced. (caster level 4 needed for convincing lion roar)

Nover steps forward, and smashes his polearm into the beast's flank, drawing a surprised squeal of pain. The beast still lives, however, and is even further enraged at the pain.

Zella took 7
Boar took 14

End of Round 1

Round 2: Aldern, Zella, Herri, Elaina, Boar, Nover, Bellamy

Foxglove steps forward with his spear, attempting to stick the boar. Unfortunately, the frantic melee causes his thrust to hit nothing but air.

Roast Boar?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Posting this as a future action in case I am not around when its my turn.

Bellamy back flips into the branch he was standing on before this battle raged on.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Once up there he places his arms in the motion of holding a bow, and a fiery line erupted from above and below his clinched fist and interlocked with the trail of flame that was launched from his drawing hand. Forming a fire born bow and arrow. In an instant Bellamy let go of the arrow and it took the bow with it as it went towards the boar, growing and roaring as it made its way towards it.

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 Any bonuses for higher ground?

Elaina's courage waivers in the face of the charging boar and she fails to hit it with the unfamiliar weapon, but manages to sidestep its viscous tusks in time. She gathers herself and tries to strike the beast again.

Step to flank. Attack.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Zella takes the opportunity as her companions come to her aid to back away, casting a curative spell on herself.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Herri steps up next to the enraged beast, planting his shortspear close to the terrible wound Nover inflicted upon the creature.

Elaina does not let her earlier failure deter her, stepping lightly to the backside of the boar. She thrusts forward, scoring another hit upon the beast!

The boar is squealing at a terrible pitch, and it thrashes violently at the only one next to it at the moment, Herri. It is nearly blind with rage, and its tusks glide harmlessly off of the heavier armor of the cleric.

Tusks: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Nover steps forward to join Herri, planting a mailed fist squarely in the squealing face of the pig.

Bellamy contributes as well, sending a jet of flame down towards the boar, skillfully eluding his allies to set a small patch of the boar's skin aflame.

The boar squeals through it all, thrashing about, before collapsing onto its side, quite thoroughly dead.

Combat over!

"Looks like the day is a success. Pig for Supper. Hooray!"

Calming down, the crazy look in his eyes gone the dwarf seems out of breath. Stretching his arms and back he puts his hands on his thighs and takes a few deep breaths.

"I have got to stop wearing myself out like this, sooner or later it's going to get the best of me."

Standing over the boar, Nover licks his lips.

"A bit gamier than pork, but the bacon is unbelievable. If anybody would like to use the tusks as a trophy now is the time to do so. Adorn your armor, weapons, helmets, what have you feel free. In the meantime let's see if we can haul this beast back to town for dinner."

The nobleman grins at Nover. "Good dwarf, surely the tusks belong to you and that devastating hammer of yours." He claps Nover on the shoulder.

Turning to Zella, his grin gets wider. "Ah yes, a full belly, and the sweet sounds of a lovely woman to accompany. This truly is my lucky day." He puts his hand over his heart, then laughs. "A boar is a fierce animal, my lady. Many a hunter has gone down to the tusks of the beast, never to rise again. Speaking of which, that was quite a bit of magic you performed on yourself there. Are you a healer, as well as beautiful and talented?"

"Oh no, I couldn't take these, I only attacked the creature from the side. The honor should go to Ms. Zella. She took the boars charge head on and has a new tale for her songs, and what better trophy than something from the beast?"

Female Human Bard

Zella laughs at Nover's comment of honor. "I should hardly think that I can take any credit for acting like bait. My songs are enough for me, you may have the tusks."

She will turn to Aldern next and winks at him. "I have a great many talents. Few people get to see them all."

Elaina rolls her eyes at the conversation between the bard and the noble, feeling nauseous at their exchange and a bit jealous that Zella was getting all the attention.

"This is a lot of animal to cook, maybe we should get going."

"I shall endeavor to keep my eyes wide open then, my lady." Aldern gives a half-bow, grinning all the while.

Oblivious to the rolled eyes and agitated tone, Foxglove nods agreeably to Elaina. "Indeed. We certainly must give Ms. Kaijitsu time to prepare this beast to her standards!"

Feel free to RP the trip home. Once it seems you guys are ready to proceed, we'll fast forward to the early evening.

Herri not pleased with his weak response from channeling power puts away his shortspear in favor of the longsword.

He whispers to himself, Maybe this will draw your favor or maybe I need time to myself to pray.

"Today has been exhausting. I ready to get back to town. I need a good nights sleep after a full belly of this pig and some Rusty Dragon ale. "

Lifting the beast Nover hoists it over his shoulder before walking next to Elaina. He speaks in a whisper just loud enough for her to hear.

"Say the word and I knock one of 'em out. I'll give ya three guesses on who I'd hit first."

The time passes quickly on your trek back to Sandpoint, Pigslayers joining your other earned nickname, Goblinslayers. Somehow the rest of you suffer through Foxglove's pointed questioning and flirting with Zella.

Ameiko and her staff excitedly accept the boar, dragging it into the back to dress for the evening, and a small crowd has already gathered at The Rusty Dragon as the sun starts to slide behind the western horizon.

" Although I am not Father Zantus as a member of the temple please provide me a moment to speak."

Herri looks about the room and continues his speech.
