Out of business shortly after being hired? That's vexing. You have my sympathy for that and the cancer in the family. I've been losing way too many friends to that lately.

Hey all! Need a favor.
My publisher just released a pay what you want book called Shadows over Vathak: Explorer's Guide, which is a preview of Shadows over Vathak: Player's Guide (I call Shadows over Vathak a combination of colonialism, Lovecraft, Ravenloft, and WWI). Since its basically free, please go "buy" and download it, if you find a moment? We're trying to drive up the numbers and get it more notice.
The Explorer's Guide includes a full class, the Fortune-Teller, who focuses on divination magic and is pretty spiffy, if I do say so myself. Which should tell you I wrote it.

You'll like it! The races include sewn together undead called wretched, human/werewolf hybrids, hauntlings (who are born possessed by ghosts), and dhampirs! As well as three types of humans (romni are my favorite) and smurf nibblers!

The previous GM jumped you guys ahead a little, but I think we've caught up enough with play that it's time to level up again. Take yourselves to level 8! Post your choices here.

heh yeah I know what you mean. Ironically the game designers claim the AP is geared toward 4 players but that almost never happens, at least not in PBP
Coverage of roles in the group is pretty reasonable between heavies like Wednesday and Tolenn, roguish spellcasting and healing from Cassandra and Amira. I guess I'll ask would you like me to recruit more and, if so, what would you like me to recruit?

I know what you mean, the other Tolenn and Wednesday are more introverts in nature. I think in terms of handling challenges we're good. If we want to add another person for dynamics then it would have to be someone who can specifically drive interaction without just pissing everyone off.
I've put links up at the top and will include more from previous readings so that you can more easily refer back to them in the course of the chapter.
I'll also post up more info on Harrow points for the new chapter.
I'll whip up visuals for the Chapter 2 reading later at home. But the reading for Chapter 1 must have occurred off the Paizo site - this campaign was continued from another site, wasn't it? Tolenn or Wednesday, do you have access to it? We could make some kind of link to it or recreate it in the discussion thread...
I still have no idea what kind of armor I can get from Kroft's contracts. :)
Sounds like this reward is in lieu of cash, so the armor would be free.
Could you provide a limit on the value of the armor I could request?
Thanks
I had been intending to allow PCs to get magic items at the same price it takes to craft rather than market price, but looking at your gear, Tolenn, I'm reminded that you've eschewed picking up much gear throughout the campaign so far and you're way undervalued (unless I'm not spotting something on your character sheet). Cassandra and Amira joined later with PC development budgets and so are much better tailored with their characters' mojo. Wednesday has been picking up some valuable weapons as they've appeared and so I think he's doing reasonably well.
The wealth by level bench mark for 8th level is 33,000 gp. Tolenn, between the Church of Sarenrae refitting you to meet your rising stature in the organization and Kroft's offer of Korvosan guard contracts, boost your gear up to that level.
In fact, for everyone else, check your gear. If you're below 33,000 gp in value, boost up to it. If you're currently above, that's fine. If you want to refit by selling some and replacing, then you get to make use of Kroft's contracts and swap gear at a 1:1 ratio in value rather than selling for 1/2 and buying for full market.
And then post your purchases here or send me a private message (if you want to surprise your comrades). We'll assume this takes a week or so in game time to accomplish, which also gives you a little downtime if you want to pursue things off the regular adventuring clock whether it's rumor gathering, retraining, volunteering at the local Moose Lodge, etc.
That made me laugh because I wasn't even thinking about Xmas and playing Santa Claus. It just seemed a good time to do it! Holy synchronicities, Batman!
