At least something went right today. Started our trip out with a fender-bender just a few blocks from our house. It was pouring and the anti-lock brakes don't help with hydroplaning. Half of the remaining trip was through rain so hard and fog so thick visibility was measured in yards. We nearly got run off the road by trucks a few times. It seems silver is a bad color for a car in driving rain and pea soup fog. No one could see us without the blinkers on and even then only up close. We're all OK and we made it to Orlando safely after that. Tomorrow we play! We need the relaxation.

Glad you made it. My wife and I had weather like that when we drove out to Philadelphia this summer, though I'm not sure if it was fog or spray from the trucks. It didn't help that the truck drivers seemed to think it was sunny and dry--or at least they drove that way.

glad you made it indeed. Driving in Flordia is frightening if the rumors are even half true about that state.

and I'm from JERSEY.

locking it down until next thursday.

I'm posting in recruitment.

Please weigh in on your preferences for whom I recruit! if anyone strikes your fancy please let me know.

if anyone in the recruitment thread asks anything you feel you can answer, please assit. i'll try and post but doesnt look like much access on my end until i get back.

i have made my selections and sent out messages, hopefully they will respond and post here in short order and we can be back under way.

Male Human (Ustalavic) Bard (Dirge Bard) 4 (Initiative + 6, Perception +7, AC 13 (10 touch, 13 flat-footed), Fort: +4, Ref: +4, Will: +4, HP 30/34))

Thanks for the invitation; I'm glad to join and eager to get started.

This will be my first PbEM game, but I'm a long-time gamer and willing to learn. I've read through the FAQs and how-to's on Paizo's boards, so I should be able to hit the ground running. That said, I'd appreciate any help and advice you find time to give.

Just give a look over the gameplay thread for an idea of how combat and conversation formats work.

keeping track of HP and spells used, etc can be somewhat trying in this format, but i think by posting consistent combat headers this can be avoided.

I usually roll initiative and oftentimes I will roll perception for the party and inform them of what they see/detect via

spoiler boxes.

which are also generally used to address things the rest of the party isn't experiencing or witnessing. I like the idea of having the pcs dish out the information their character has, it gives much more potential for interesting role-playing and character building.

as far as an introduction for your character goes, I'm interested in hearing your ideas. The party is currently in the end dungeon of this stage of the adventure, but they are not bound there by any means, so let's hear what they have to say, they can encounter Sour Heck on their next foray in to town. (who is, for the record, a week late for the funereal)

Female Human Bladebound Magus 4; Initiative +5; Perception +2; hp 22/34; AC 15 (11 touch, 14 flat-footed); Fort. +5/+6; Ref. +2; Will +4

Thanks for the invitation! This is not my firstt pbp, but I am still learning some things about Pahfinder. Let the games continue!

I have no objection to appearing in the end dungeon, having followed clues left of the party's passage, and assisting in a big battle as my introduction. ^^

Male Human (Ustalavic) Bard (Dirge Bard) 4 (Initiative + 6, Perception +7, AC 13 (10 touch, 13 flat-footed), Fort: +4, Ref: +4, Will: +4, HP 30/34))

Oh, cool, you picked Eloise. She would have been my choice as well.

I think the party is in retreat from the dungeon now, having run out of cleric channeling, so me meeting them in town shouldn't yank them out of their way. I'll write up an arrival to the inn, and see y'all there.

OK, the party will be returned to the Laughing Demon for an evening meal, having succesfully researched some more on the five prisoners.

Heck and Eloise can feel free to jump in to the gameplay thread whenever.

Why, thank you! Very kind of you to say so. ^^

Female Human Bladebound Magus 4; Initiative +5; Perception +2; hp 22/34; AC 15 (11 touch, 14 flat-footed); Fort. +5/+6; Ref. +2; Will +4

Good post, Sour Heck. ^^ I like it!

Male Human (Ustalavic) Bard (Dirge Bard) 4 (Initiative + 6, Perception +7, AC 13 (10 touch, 13 flat-footed), Fort: +4, Ref: +4, Will: +4, HP 30/34))

Thanks. I'm having a blast with y'all so far.

Female Human Bladebound Magus 4; Initiative +5; Perception +2; hp 22/34; AC 15 (11 touch, 14 flat-footed); Fort. +5/+6; Ref. +2; Will +4

You guys wanted a tank? Looks like you've got one. ^^ One blow and POW! I was really surprised.

female Half-elf Cleric-4

Quick note: I'm in Pittsburgh and we're supposedly in the threat range for Frankenstorm. I'm not real worried, but my posting may be delayed if there are any severe issues.

Male Half-Elf Ranger 4 (Urban Ranger archetype)| Init +5|Perc +14/+16 for undead| HP 36/36| Saves F +6/R +7/W +3; +4 vs. ench.

Good luck!

Female Human Bladebound Magus 4; Initiative +5; Perception +2; hp 22/34; AC 15 (11 touch, 14 flat-footed); Fort. +5/+6; Ref. +2; Will +4

Keep a tight hold of your hat. And your roof...!

quick note.

I am in New Jersey and I am pretty much smack in the path of Frankenstorm. I will post when I can.

Male Half-Elf Ranger 4 (Urban Ranger archetype)| Init +5|Perc +14/+16 for undead| HP 36/36| Saves F +6/R +7/W +3; +4 vs. ench.

Good luck to you, too!

Female Human Bladebound Magus 4; Initiative +5; Perception +2; hp 22/34; AC 15 (11 touch, 14 flat-footed); Fort. +5/+6; Ref. +2; Will +4

So... Has everyone survived the storm?

female Half-elf Cleric-4

So far. No power loss, just lots of rain. And the possibility of snow.

Male Half-Elf Ranger 4 (Urban Ranger archetype)| Init +5|Perc +14/+16 for undead| HP 36/36| Saves F +6/R +7/W +3; +4 vs. ench.

Snow. Of course. Isn't what you expect from the remains of a hurricane? (Good to hear you're still with us!)

Still alive here but no power for the near future.

I'll send out messages as soon as we can get back under way.

I haven't been to work since Friday. Worst vacation ever.

Male Half-Elf Ranger 4 (Urban Ranger archetype)| Init +5|Perc +14/+16 for undead| HP 36/36| Saves F +6/R +7/W +3; +4 vs. ench.

Glad you're still with us, DM C. No rush--take your time to get things back together; we'll be here.

female Half-elf Cleric-4

I hope you and your family are OK. I feel really lucky, once again Pittsburgh dodged the bullet.

I hope it's not using up all our luck building up to something nastier than what you folks have.

Male Human (Ustalavic) Bard (Dirge Bard) 4 (Initiative + 6, Perception +7, AC 13 (10 touch, 13 flat-footed), Fort: +4, Ref: +4, Will: +4, HP 30/34))

Thanks for checking in--it’s a relief to know you’re all right. Hope you get your power back soon. Don’t stress about the game, just take care.

Haha no stress. Bad weather just makes me want to game so bad. Sigh.

Thanks for the concern! If I have work tomorrow I will probably update the gameplay thread!

Glad Pittsburgh is ok too.

Male Half-Elf Ranger 4 (Urban Ranger archetype)| Init +5|Perc +14/+16 for undead| HP 36/36| Saves F +6/R +7/W +3; +4 vs. ench.

Good to have you back with us.

Female Human Bladebound Magus 4; Initiative +5; Perception +2; hp 22/34; AC 15 (11 touch, 14 flat-footed); Fort. +5/+6; Ref. +2; Will +4

I agree. ^^ I'm glad that so far, no one here seems to have been hurt.

Male Half-Elf Ranger 4 (Urban Ranger archetype)| Init +5|Perc +14/+16 for undead| HP 36/36| Saves F +6/R +7/W +3; +4 vs. ench.

I'll be at a con this weekend and the hotel charges for internet access. I'll try to keep up using my phone, but posting may be sporadic.

Talia,

i do hope you dont mind me occasionally using Kieli in fun and flavorful ways. I find the idea of a talking raven in this setting/adventure path too good not to use.

Male Half-Elf Ranger 4 (Urban Ranger archetype)| Init +5|Perc +14/+16 for undead| HP 36/36| Saves F +6/R +7/W +3; +4 vs. ench.

A cautionary tale for Sour Heck.

Male Human (Ustalavic) Bard (Dirge Bard) 4 (Initiative + 6, Perception +7, AC 13 (10 touch, 13 flat-footed), Fort: +4, Ref: +4, Will: +4, HP 30/34))

Bwah ha ha! That’s perfect--you can safely assume the Ustlavian version is one of Heck’s favorite drinking songs.

considering the context of our current position, i am glad i cant open youtube links at work.

i can only imagine.

Loot breakdown:

i realized we need to address the loot so far. we'll figure out who has what and I'd like everyone to make sure it's reflected in ther character sheets.

Loot so far: please advise if i missed something. also, the current count of holy waters is probably off. i know the party has used 3 or 4 (i think)

Lorrimors books (at the house, under lock and key)

from the tomb:
brass spirit planchette and wooden board
6 x vials of holy water
2 x Undead bane arrows +1
10 x arrows +1
5 x ghost touch arrows +1
5 x potions of cure light wounds
2 x potions of lesser restoration
1 x scroll of detect undead
2 x scrolls of hide from undead
1 x scroll of protection from evil
4 x haunt siphons

from Father Grimburrow
5 x vials of holy water

from the chapel
5 x vials of holy water
1 x scroll of lesser restoration
1 x wand of Cure Light Wounds (15 charges)

am i missing anything?

let's part it out.

Male Half-Elf Ranger 4 (Urban Ranger archetype)| Init +5|Perc +14/+16 for undead| HP 36/36| Saves F +6/R +7/W +3; +4 vs. ench.

I think Peredur used the holy water he got from Father Grimburrow on the door, when we were attacked just inside the prison. Peredur has a bow, as well; I'm not sure who else is carrying one at the moment.

Male Half-Elf Ranger 4 (Urban Ranger archetype)| Init +5|Perc +14/+16 for undead| HP 36/36| Saves F +6/R +7/W +3; +4 vs. ench.

One quick scan of the party later, it looks as though Peredur is the only archer here (though Sour Heck and Eloise can use bows). So I guess he's carrying all the arrows for now; he was also the last one to use the planchette and board. I think Sour Heck is carrying the CLW wand. The clerical scrolls are likely with Iesha, and I have no idea who would be carrying the haunt siphons. One CLW potion each sound good?

female Half-elf Cleric-4

Works for me.

Male Human (Ustalavic) Bard (Dirge Bard) 4 (Initiative + 6, Perception +7, AC 13 (10 touch, 13 flat-footed), Fort: +4, Ref: +4, Will: +4, HP 30/34))

Sour Heck does have the wand. Since it looks like there's plenty of holy water to go around, he'd be glad to carry three flasks of that too.

Female Human Bladebound Magus 4; Initiative +5; Perception +2; hp 22/34; AC 15 (11 touch, 14 flat-footed); Fort. +5/+6; Ref. +2; Will +4

Eloise would love to have some holy water, too. Can't go wrong with that stuff.

She can also use some of the scrolls in a pinch, thanks to her ranks in Use Magic Device.

i'll leave it up to you all to finalize who has what, but this should be done soon.

female Half-elf Cleric-4

I'll give everyone a bottle, since it's useful against the things we're fighting here.

fair warning ladies and germs, I'm starting a recruitment thread for a new game.

feel free to apply, just don't take it personally if you aren't picked!

Female Human Bladebound Magus 4; Initiative +5; Perception +2; hp 22/34; AC 15 (11 touch, 14 flat-footed); Fort. +5/+6; Ref. +2; Will +4

*grinds teeth* I am experiencing DNS-lookup problems and have to post from my sister's. Will be able to post more extensively tomorrow. Apologies for the delay...

Female Human Bladebound Magus 4; Initiative +5; Perception +2; hp 22/34; AC 15 (11 touch, 14 flat-footed); Fort. +5/+6; Ref. +2; Will +4

Whew! I am deeply relieved that attack made it through after all! ^^;

yeah well... just be happy that my research into whether or not eloise's sword would completely shatter in the attempt revelaed that inanimate objects are pretty much impossible to miss. hehe.

as for the magic working, that was mroe or less just cuz it was a cool character thing to have her try and wail on a huge furnace.

Female Human Bladebound Magus 4; Initiative +5; Perception +2; hp 22/34; AC 15 (11 touch, 14 flat-footed); Fort. +5/+6; Ref. +2; Will +4

^^ Heh...

Well, if her sword had shattered, it would have made an interesting segue into her discovering her Black Blade when next we level up.

oh you're gonna use my favorite magus archetype huh? good choice.

Female Human Bladebound Magus 4; Initiative +5; Perception +2; hp 22/34; AC 15 (11 touch, 14 flat-footed); Fort. +5/+6; Ref. +2; Will +4

I already am! ^^ The only downside, from my perspective, is the decreased amount of arcane pool points, but at least the sword will have some of its own.
