Yes, they were among the first 10 Society adventures I played - I remember the final bit, but it had a very different feel.

So, vacation has turned out to be busier than expected, although the terracotta soldiers exhibit at the Field Museum was great and the replica Bayeux Tapestry exhibit near where our daughter works was likewise pretty cool. (The driving between all of those places, not so much.)

The audit went well. I'm getting the chronicle sheet together, and I had a question for those of you who've run PFS games before, as I haven't run into this situation. I'm running this at Tier 2, so four of the five of you are easy to handle. Amiri, though, is L1. Does she get a chronicle with the out-of-tier money? Does it depend on the level of the character Lekku applies the chronicle to? Similarly, if I apply the GM credit to a L1 character, does that character get the out-of-tier money?

I am also level 1 ;-)

- The level 1's get out of tier money. There are 2 tiers here, one for each level. Since they are not in tier they get out of tier money.
- Lekku can only apply this chronicle to a lvl 1 character.

Nothing is said about other options, but the part about non-level 1 pregen's says that you can not assign credit to a character that is at the same or higher level of the pregen that was played. As for "newly created": the level 1 rebuild rules exist so Lekku can always say that his Amiri was not actually a pregen, but a homebrew copy ;-)

- The GM always gets the money as if his character had played in the tier appropriate for his/her character.

Thanks, Karayan. I figured I was just missing the references.

BTW, the acolyte was, honest, carrying a scroll of protection from chaos. And after the second time that Karayan made the fighter attack him, he used the scroll--figuring there was a 1 in 3 chance that it'd protect him from another mental control spell. That was before I realized that 4 of the 5 of you are chaotic. So all of a sudden this L1 fighter is in there with a 22 AC against most of you.

I figured that out (after the daze did not work)...

I think that it is weird that Karayan does not detect as chaotic with a detect chaos (because he isn't level 5 yet) but that protection vs chaos works against his enchantments. However that is the way it works, so I am not complaining, just observing ;-).

Only 6 more rounds before I can daze him again (or charm him....)

I'm hoping Kiddrik was able to connect just now and keep the fighter unconscious, cause that will help swing things pretty heavily for us. Here's to hoping, anyway.

That raises an interesting point, Karayan--the spell description (see below) says nothing about how a victim handles attempts to cure or otherwise support the closest ally, and I interpreted that to indicate that the fighter wouldn't go after the sorcerer for curing the cleric. That may not have been correct. Thoughts?

Let me get this clear first: I have no issue at all how you handle this (or any other) game and have not looked into how you ruled the murderous commands.

If I understand correctly the acolyte was down from the first MC, the sorcerer moved in to heal and Karayan casts the second MC. Neither the sorcerer or acolyte had a weapon in hand at the time. If the fighter did not attack because neither had a weapon I think that was not correct.

The way I read "The target attacks its nearest ally on its next turn with a melee weapon or natural weapon." is that the fighter attacks (using a melee or natural weapon) its nearest ally.

No big issue, we all make mistakes (if this is indeed what happened).

No worries--I'm trying to work out if I ran it correctly, in case something like this comes up again (as it no doubt will).

I didn't even consider that interpretation. The acolyte's body was laying between the sorcerer and the fighter, so the acolyte was still the closest ally, and the fighter attacked him again on the second round (since the sorc had gotten him conscious again after the fighter had acted).

Hm, something just occurred to me. In your opinion, given the wording of the spell, should the fighter have advanced once he knocked down the acolyte? He had a move action left, and with the acolyte down the sorc was the next ally left standing.

Since we all know that for the purpose of a spell, "You" are considered an ally, clearly the correct interpretation would have been for him to plunge his own sword into himself. :P

No, I don't think so. The spell urges the target to attack. If the target has attacked or double-moved the spell has no function anymore. No need to attack and then move (that would make an already quite powerful spell even more powerful)

As for the situation with an unconscious ally nearer than another ally I would call for a heal check (DC15) to find out if the target knows the nearest ally is not dead but unconscious.

What I was concerned about is that the spell nominally lasts for a round, so what do you do if the closest ally provokes an AoO during the round but after the spell's victim attacked? That also seems kind of tough for a first-level spell.

I had to look that up in the urban dictionary Kiddrik...

I think he should have taken an AoO if the acolyte provoked, not against the sorcerer. From the failure of the save to just before the next init count of Karayan the target is filled with bloodlust towards his nearest ally (in this case the acolyte).

That nearest ally is established at casting, not when the target can take its action. The nearest ally stays the same and does not change during the round, even if that nearest ally retreats.
