Alesie:
You know that the Defender's Heart is an Inn and Tavern catering to the mercenaries attracted to the city by the opportunities of the Crusade. It is in the NorthEastern section of the outer ring of Kenabres, while you are currently in the SouthEastern section. It should be a straightforward exercise to find it.

Travelling through the post apocalyptic ruins of the city, it is difficult to see very far due to fallen walls, smoke from still burning fires. With so many landmarks fallen and the reddish overcast it's easy to get turned around.

Up around a corner you hear a commotion.
Peeking around the corner, you see a T intersection.
About 100 feet away, in front of a ruined shrine to Sarenrae kneels a weeping woman. Surrounding the woman are six human knights in battered armor. Their faces are sooty and grim and their eyes burn with feverish light.
One of the knights, a human woman with fresh scars on her face,
says to the kneeling woman, “Your sacrifice aids the cause of good.”

A very approximate map.

A righteous wrath flames within Kyra's heart at the sight of the armed knights surrounding the crying woman. With naked steel in her hand she rushes forward towards the men, crying out as she approaches. "Stay your blades, lest you feel the fury of the Dawnflower! Step away from that woman, or by the goddess I will cut you all down in a flurry of steel and fire!"

Terrain note; because of rubble, the street is considered difficult terrain. You will not be able to run up to them in one round.
For the most part you will only be able to double move sixty feet or 3/5ths of the distance to them.

He cried out echoing Kyra's sentiments. He rushed forward as quickly as he could his hands fumbling for the wand of spiritual weapon.

Hurrying forward (double move) on phone so dont have the ability to move me on the map.

One of the knights on the other side caught Kyra's movement and pointed. He drew his sword.
"You! Citizens! Halt your advance! This sacrifice has been deemed necessary by the resistance! Any opposition means you are with the demon horde and will be dealt with accordingly!" He bellowed sentoriously.
The woman lifted her sword high over the girl, her feverish focus unbroken by Kyra's rapid approach.

ANIEVA:

Anieva staggered around the corner and leaned up against the wall. She took an arrow out, laid it on her string, and drew it to her cheek, licking the cockfeather as she did. She let fly, just over Kelden's head.

Red 1 motions for his troops to fall in line. They prepare to receive a charge.
"Halt your advance fools! There is no army coming to relieve us, only the power of the old gods can help us now; we must make sacrifice to beat the demons! The omens are clear!"
He motioned to Red3. "Get on with it!"

Sense Motive DC14:
Now that you are closer, you can see they are filled with some kind of expectation of doom, and are clutching at straws. Perhaps some kind of Willpower or perhaps Wisdom damage is at work here?

Knowledge:History DC15:
These knights, desperate to drive back the demons, have clearly latched onto an old folktale—
that sheathing one’s blade in the body of a virgin temporarily
transforms the sword into a demon-slaying weapon.

Players act in order of posting, enemies have already gone.

"You are not in your right minds. Do not let your desperation turn you into the very monsters you seek to fight! There is a better way to save yourselves. Lower your weapons! Otherwise be prepared for the consequences of your actions."
I have to stop them. They're crazy and i can't let this happen. Thetin thinks, gripping Radiance tightly out of frustration. But there will be no mercy for any of them if they harm that woman.

...Crit confirm?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 Not confirmed. Damage is 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 slashing damage.
Red 5 shouts "Yes! Now die you demon lovers!" and makes a frenzied attack on Kyra.
Longsword attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 Hit! for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 slashing damage.
Ref save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 then he slips and falls prone.

Players act in order of posting, enemies have already gone.

Tactical situation.

@ Camris: I don't think black blades are supposed to provide endless backlash to the magus. It's very tiresome. The write-up says the weapon is an ally. Has the exact same alignment as the magus. In this case NG, so some spirit of cooperation can be expected, don't you think?

Taking his sword hilt in both hands Carilain counter strikes against the thug who cut him Red 1.

Grimstar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Map link not connected, if Carilain can take a 5' step to gain flanking status he would do so. That would up his roll 16. If it does hit, his damage is 1d8+5.

@Carilain: I'm really sorry I gave that impression Carilain, that was and is not my intention. The phrasing I used (leaden, unresponsive) was intended merely as color commentary and not indicating a mechanical penalty to you. It was intended as a clue to you as to the black blade's special purpose; the eagerness of the blade to engage the enemies at Anieva's place versus the lack thereof here.
I think I failed to lay it out as it should have been.

@Map link: The link I used in the body of the post works alright. I don't really think of using the ones at the top of the page when I'm updating anymore.

Kyra screams when the crusader is able to cut-down the innocent girl, she grunts as the bloody blade then slices open her shoulder. "And now you die, monster!" The dervish slips into her battle dance and gives herself over to the death of the crusaders still fighting, Sarenrae had judged them and through Kyra sentenced them to death. Her blade slashes down toward the prone crusader with a grim look upon her face.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 2 + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 9

Swift Action - Arcane Strike, Move Action - Activate Battle Dance, Standard Action - Attack R5. She gets a +2 attack through flanking with Thetin... Was not sure how you like to do penalties through Prone. Some GMs just have you add them as a bonus to hit, while some I've seen just account for the penalty themselves. So, I did not add anything beyond standard bonuses.

Alesies stiffles a cry a she watches the girl fall to the ground. Oh goddess I've failed again.

Not seeing an opening from her position to get a clear shot Alesie begins to run towards the melee combat. Entire round run. so 120 feet, Should get me into melee. Say north of Kelden engaged with #6.

At the sound of the innocent womans scream Kelden's blood turned cold. He swallowed and dropped the wand drawing out his scimitar slashing it hard at the man between he and Thetin. He needed to clear a path to the fallen woman, perhaps if he was quick enough and the goddess so chose he could save her.

When red 5 sprawled prone, Carilain's black blade plunged into his chest, pinning him to the ground. The rush of attacks against him, if diverted to his buddies red 1 and red 6 quickly fell them.
The battle is over.
The girl is down, unconscious and bleeding out, but still alive.
What do you do?

Kyra rushes over to the fallen girl and notices she is still alive. With a grateful prayer to Sarenrae, the bard immediately casts a healing spell to staunch the flow of blood from her body!

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

The healing energies wash over the girl; the bleeding stops and the great gash in her neck heals over.

KLARAH:

The girl's eyes flutter open.
"...what...what happened?"
She tried to touch her neck, but her hands were tied roughly.

Thetin quickly unties the girl from her bindings. "Woah there take it easy. You were injured when we saved you from this band of hysterical knights. Lucky for you however we have some skilled healers with us." Thetin hands her some water. "Now i know you just went through something traumatic but we'll need to get moving here pretty soon. So drink up and get your energy back." Thetin gives the girl a warm smile "Also don't worry you're safe with us now."
Thetin then turns to Kyra and Kelden. "Make sure she's okay and get her ready to move. We don't know what might have heard the fighting so we can't stay here much longer. Thetin turns his gaze upon O2 and O4. "Now if you'll excuse me..."
The paladin then makes his way over to the two knights. As soon as he reaches the knights he stands them up on their feet. "I do not wish to hear any of your excuses, for you both have helped commit a great sin today. However through your actions i have seen that you have realized this and are ready to atone. As your first step to atonement i task both of you with the protection of Lady Anieva and the girl you where going to sacrifice. Once we have reached the Defender's Heart we will have ample time to discuss the rest of you punishment."

Carilain sticks the sword back in its scabbard, without bothering to wipe the blade. Hopefully it'll stick in place. It is not the sword he was looking for to be sure. Or if it is, the long time it spent near demons has warped it's personality.
Carilain straps the sword to his pack. He will return it to Hargus, at first opportunity, along with a warning: The sword is a danger to whoever tries to wield it.
Carilain places the magic mace back on his belt. Carilain is a swordsman by preference and training, but at least the mace handles properly. It always feels just like a mace. It won't make itself feel leaden and lifeless. Nor will it drag him into harms way. Thus, it is a vastly superior weapon.

The trouble is,DM-Camris, the color and flavor you brought to the sword make it worse than useless. You've had it drag my character into an AoO already. 'The leaden and lifeless' shows that it is not an ally to my character. Masterwork swords do not normally feel 'leaden and lifeless'. So that's something the sword is doing on purpose. A demonstration of noncooperation. The sword has already proven itself to be something close to an enemy to my character. He has IC reason to discard, or break the weapon. It was supposed to be a useful class feature, but it not. The sword is a liability.

He was glad and a little surprised by how quickly Sister Kyra moved to the fallen woman, but he quick hand with the healing spell was appreciated. Even with the initial threat over he made sure to kick the weapons away from the fallen crazed crusaders before he took hold of the goddesses symbol and channeled her grace, sending a wave of positive healing energy out.

Sir Thetin is right m'am you will be safe with us.

He did paused overlooking the fallen and biting his lip... but then he moved to them and knelt by them, giving a simple prayer to the goddess for their souls... perhaps indeed they had just been misguided and afraid, perhaps they were not true evil.He could at least see to giving them some form of last rites, Pharasma could judge their deeds better than he.
