Zephram Taranis |
Zephram points with his rapier toward the movement, then quickly throws back his extract of blur, whispering, "Ambush time."
Zephram Taranis |
Since Zeph was already hiding, should probably roll that.

TACTICAL OVERVIEW
This is a tactical map, five foot squares.
White squares are clear terrain.
Light green squares are tall grass, brambles, blackberry vines and such that are Difficult terrain and give Concealment.
Dark green squares are trees and overgrown construction that are Impassable terrain. They require a climb check to go over and give Cover.
Everybody can hear the crackling of branches and the motion of the foliage at (JKL,234).
You look around for flankers trying to sneak into your backfield, and you spot an unnatural motion at (R,7).
Zephram Taranis |
Zephram starts toward the rustle, then stops as he sees Sylvianna turn her attention in another direction. He follows her gaze, starting a mental map to get him quietly and silently to the foes.
Delaying until Sylvianna...
DM-Camris |
The minutes pass, and the deadly tension increases. Who will make the first mistake?
The same bushes shake again. Then once more. But no target appears.
Then you see the vines part to show a hand crossbow...
You have a target in (R,9). Still concealed, but only 20% at this point.
Zephram Taranis |
It would appear that they've come, and were smart enough to skip over our bait...
Zephram follows the direction of the shot, trying to see what Sylvianna fired at, and throws back his extract of blur.
Nakoda |
Two distinct locations made Nakoda pause to consider what they were up against. What they were engaging was not where the sound had come from, and Nakoda did not want to move without confirming that they were actually engaging them. Listening harder, she tried to discern what was going on.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
DM-Camris |
With a cry, Sylvianna’s sniper shot strikes true, and the Drow Skirmisher staggered out of the brambles and fired off a shot of his own with his hand crossbow back at Sylvianna.
Hand crossbow shot: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 7 - 4 = 20 for a possible 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 piercing damage plus sleep poison (Fort save DC13).
Several fields of Darkness form in the bushes to the north and start advancing towards your position. Typical for Drow though. It’s not pitch black in the field, not in broad daylight, but its still dim enough to make targeting difficult. (20% miss chance.)
Sylvianna |
Accustomed to standard Drow tactics, Sylvianna anticipates the return shot, easily avoiding it before sending a pair of arrows streaking toward her target.
Att 1: 1d20 + 11 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 11 + 4 = 21 Favored enemy
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Att 2: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 4 = 18
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Focusing on same Drow
Nakoda |
This sort of waiting was not something that she did well, and the thought of hiding was the same. Neither of those was something that she preferred, especially regarding her enemies. Taking a couple of steps back, she did what she could to conceal herself until the time came. If this was a different situation, she would have enjoyed taking in the sights of what could be seen when there was not a life-threatening situation.
The time before that was starting to seem like such a long time ago.

Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Zephram Taranis |
Zephram wills the breeze to keep close to him, then readies to race out of cover when the drow close. Think I'm safe here. I'm at least better at hiding than the rest of them.
Readying an action, move/attack when drow comes within 35' (Feather Step slippers are your friend)

Round 1 - Resolving Delayed Act
Zephram rushes up and stabs at the drow (#3).
Readied Attack: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 11 + 2 = 23 for 1d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 2 = 9
(+2 to attack/damage from Moonlight Stalker, concealment from Blur)
Round 2
Zephram waits a moment before attacking, taking a defensive posture as he studies its movements, I doubt that Sylvianna would appreciate my observations about how similarly the dark elves fight compared to their surface bretheren.. He then nods, So... that's his pattern... so I should should strike... now.
Rapier (Studied, Moonlight Stalker): 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 11 + 2 + 3 = 29 for 1d6 + 2 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 + 3 = 9
Nakoda |
Watching from cover of the foliage as the darkness encroached on the position that she had known her companions to be hidden, she heard as the battle was joined, using her ears to make sense of what she was hearing. As it stopped just before her, she gauged the direction, and intently closed her eyes, feeling out the magic that sat within her tattoos. It was a curious feeling, something with her, but without. The magic had a different taste, something akin to hers, but missing something in the rhythm that would have made it familiar.
She felt it work, settling onto her eyes and she kept them tightly closed, preparing to advance out of the cover of her place of concealment. Having tested them before, she knew that if she opened her eyes before she was within the darkness, she would be somewhat blinded in the (now)excessive light.
Her hand gripped her pick, and a small smile grew on her face.

Round 2__________
Zane Argentus_____
With a quickly spoken word, Zane flickers into view, his hand outstretched as 4 shards of light streak from his fingertips to unerringly strike one of Liz' opponents Hitting Number 4
Though difficult to see in the dim light of the Darkness field, Drow Skirmisher 4 is heavily wounded by the magic missiles.
LizArdoc_____
Liz acrobatics to 12-L to flank with Zephram.
Successfully; though the drow smile like you’ve made a mistake.
She then stabs at the drow.
Darkness miss chance?: 1d100 ⇒ 85 No miss.
You see the drow grin at Liz briefly before she runs Drow Skirmisher 3 through the vitals. He collapsed, surprise on his face. One of the two fields of Darkness vanish.
Sylvianna_____
As Liz vacates her previous spot, Sylvianna send a pair of arrows streaking toward the same drow struck by Zane's magic.
But unable to see or hit Drow Skirmisher 4 due to cover, she switched targets to Drow Skirmisher 2 and drops her with two excellent shots.
Zephram Taranis_____
Round 1 - Resolving Delayed Act
Zephram rushes up and stabs at the drow (#3).
