Female Elf Ranger 8

DM-Camris:
How soon are they likely to come looking?

Male Sylph Investigator(Empiricist) 7
Vitals:
(HP: 55/55; AC: 18{22}/13{15}/15{17} (+2 vs. ranged); Percep: +15{+14}; Init: +3{+5}; Fort +4, Ref: +8{+10}, Will: +6{+5}; CMD: 19{21}; CMB +6; Inspiration: 8/8)

Zephram smiles, "An illusion. Even better."

Sylvianna:
You aren't sure, but you would estimate 5-15 minutes.

Zephram:
after 9-10 minutes, you spot unnatural movement, about (M,4).

Female Elf Ranger 8

"They should be here within the next 15 minutes." Sylvianna whispers.

Male Human Wizard 8

After 10 minutes Zane takes out another scroll, casting another spell quietly before he vanishes.

Cast Invisibility from scroll. 6 minute duration

Female Druid 1HP10/10F4R0W5Init+4Per6 AC12T10FF12

Liz will secret herself away into the underbrush.
Take 20 for stealth

Male Sylph Investigator(Empiricist) 7
Vitals:
(HP: 55/55; AC: 18{22}/13{15}/15{17} (+2 vs. ranged); Percep: +15{+14}; Init: +3{+5}; Fort +4, Ref: +8{+10}, Will: +6{+5}; CMD: 19{21}; CMB +6; Inspiration: 8/8)

Zephram points with his rapier toward the movement, then quickly throws back his extract of blur, whispering, "Ambush time."

Female Human(Shoanti) Skald 8

Hiding was never a strong suit of hers, but Nakoda attempted it, since being caught out was not something that would go well. Drawing her weapon, she readied it, since this was going to go pretty fast once it began.
___________
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Male Sylph Investigator(Empiricist) 7

Since Zeph was already hiding, should probably roll that.

Stealth: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (17) + 19 = 36

Male Human Wizard 8

Stealth: 1d20 + 2 + 20 ⇒ (14) + 2 + 20 = 36

TACTICAL OVERVIEW
This is a tactical map, five foot squares.
White squares are clear terrain.
Light green squares are tall grass, brambles, blackberry vines and such that are Difficult terrain and give Concealment.
Dark green squares are trees and overgrown construction that are Impassable terrain. They require a climb check to go over and give Cover.

Everybody can hear the crackling of branches and the motion of the foliage at (JKL,234).

Sylvianna:
That is way too unstealthy for the enemy you know.
You look around for flankers trying to sneak into your backfield, and you spot an unnatural motion at (R,7).

Female Druid 1HP10/10F4R0W5Init+4Per6 AC12T10FF12

Liz stays hidden and looks to the others on what they want to do. Something about to get us, wonder if it one of those big lizards.

Female Elf Ranger 8

DM Camris:
Ignoring the obvious distraction, Sylvianna locks onto the unnatural motion, drawing her bow slowly and taking careful aim, waiting for the enemy to act.

Readied shot: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
1d8 ⇒ 4

Sylvianna:
You can take your shot immediately if you don't mind the 50% miss chance for total concealment.
If you want to wait, you're pretty sure your target has to leave total concealment to sneak closer, since he doesn't have a good shot at you.

Female Elf Ranger 8

DM-Camris:
Will wait for them to move, they don't know that I know they're there.

Female Druid 1HP10/10F4R0W5Init+4Per6 AC12T10FF12

We going to go get that big thing?

Female Elf Ranger 8

Not shifting her focus in the least, Sylvianna simply shakes her head silently.

Male Human Wizard 8

Invisible, Zane awaits the enemy to come out into the open, eyes focused on the area of the noise.

Female Druid 1HP10/10F4R0W5Init+4Per6 AC12T10FF12

Liz keeps hidden, ready for the new threat to appear.
Ready to attack

Male Sylph Investigator(Empiricist) 7
Vitals:
(HP: 55/55; AC: 18{22}/13{15}/15{17} (+2 vs. ranged); Percep: +15{+14}; Init: +3{+5}; Fort +4, Ref: +8{+10}, Will: +6{+5}; CMD: 19{21}; CMB +6; Inspiration: 8/8)

Zephram starts toward the rustle, then stops as he sees Sylvianna turn her attention in another direction. He follows her gaze, starting a mental map to get him quietly and silently to the foes.

Delaying until Sylvianna...

Female Human(Shoanti) Skald 8

Frowning at the sound, something that was not what they were expecting, Nakoda remained still, concerned about whether or not the sound was going to come their way.

The minutes pass, and the deadly tension increases. Who will make the first mistake?
The same bushes shake again. Then once more. But no target appears.

Sylvianna:
The motion occurs again. You track it as it goes to (R,8), then (R,9).
Then you see the vines part to show a hand crossbow...
You have a target in (R,9). Still concealed, but only 20% at this point.

TACTICAL OVERVIEW

Female Druid 1HP10/10F4R0W5Init+4Per6 AC12T10FF12

A bead of sweat rolls down Liz's forhead and off her nose.

Female Elf Ranger 8

DM Camris:

Seeing the movement again, Sylvianna takes the shot.

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
1d8 ⇒ 4
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 54

Female Druid 1HP10/10F4R0W5Init+4Per6 AC12T10FF12

Liz's head snaps around as Sylvianna fires her bow.

Male Sylph Investigator(Empiricist) 7
Vitals:
(HP: 55/55; AC: 18{22}/13{15}/15{17} (+2 vs. ranged); Percep: +15{+14}; Init: +3{+5}; Fort +4, Ref: +8{+10}, Will: +6{+5}; CMD: 19{21}; CMB +6; Inspiration: 8/8)

It would appear that they've come, and were smart enough to skip over our bait...

Zephram follows the direction of the shot, trying to see what Sylvianna fired at, and throws back his extract of blur.

Female Druid 1HP10/10F4R0W5Init+4Per6 AC12T10FF12

Time for Init!

Female Human(Shoanti) Skald 8

Two distinct locations made Nakoda pause to consider what they were up against. What they were engaging was not where the sound had come from, and Nakoda did not want to move without confirming that they were actually engaging them. Listening harder, she tried to discern what was going on.
_____________________________
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Male Human Wizard 8

Holding his position Zane waits, trusting his invisibility to give him the element of surprise.

Female Druid 1HP10/10F4R0W5Init+4Per6 AC12T10FF12

Liz has her sword out, waiting for combat.

With a cry, Sylvianna’s sniper shot strikes true, and the Drow Skirmisher staggered out of the brambles and fired off a shot of his own with his hand crossbow back at Sylvianna.
Hand crossbow shot: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 7 - 4 = 20 for a possible 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 piercing damage plus sleep poison (Fort save DC13).

Several fields of Darkness form in the bushes to the north and start advancing towards your position. Typical for Drow though. It’s not pitch black in the field, not in broad daylight, but its still dim enough to make targeting difficult. (20% miss chance.)

Round 1_____________

Players take their turn in order of posting, enemies will go last.

TACTICAL OVERVIEW

Female Elf Ranger 8

Accustomed to standard Drow tactics, Sylvianna anticipates the return shot, easily avoiding it before sending a pair of arrows streaking toward her target.

Att 1: 1d20 + 11 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 11 + 4 = 21 Favored enemy
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Att 2: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 4 = 18
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Focusing on same Drow

Male Human Wizard 8

Maintaining both his position and his invisibility, Zane quietly casts a spell, his eyes changing in structure, replaced with those from a reality in which he had evolved the ability to see in complete darkness.

Cast Darkvision, draw wand. Still invisible.

Female Druid 1HP10/10F4R0W5Init+4Per6 AC12T10FF12

Liz moves to -11 and hides, waiting for the drow to come by and where she will then stab out.

Stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24
S.sword: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 121d6 + 1 + 4d6 ⇒ (5) + 1 + (1, 2, 2, 3) = 14

Female Human(Shoanti) Skald 8

This sort of waiting was not something that she did well, and the thought of hiding was the same. Neither of those was something that she preferred, especially regarding her enemies. Taking a couple of steps back, she did what she could to conceal herself until the time came. If this was a different situation, she would have enjoyed taking in the sights of what could be seen when there was not a life-threatening situation.

The time before that was starting to seem like such a long time ago.

(+2 to attack/damage from Moonlight Stalker, concealment from Blur)

Round 2

Zephram waits a moment before attacking, taking a defensive posture as he studies its movements, I doubt that Sylvianna would appreciate my observations about how similarly the dark elves fight compared to their surface bretheren.. He then nods, So... that's his pattern... so I should should strike... now.

Rapier (Studied, Moonlight Stalker): 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 11 + 2 + 3 = 29 for 1d6 + 2 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 + 3 = 9

Female Human(Shoanti) Skald 8

Watching from cover of the foliage as the darkness encroached on the position that she had known her companions to be hidden, she heard as the battle was joined, using her ears to make sense of what she was hearing. As it stopped just before her, she gauged the direction, and intently closed her eyes, feeling out the magic that sat within her tattoos. It was a curious feeling, something with her, but without. The magic had a different taste, something akin to hers, but missing something in the rhythm that would have made it familiar.

She felt it work, settling onto her eyes and she kept them tightly closed, preparing to advance out of the cover of her place of concealment. Having tested them before, she knew that if she opened her eyes before she was within the darkness, she would be somewhat blinded in the (now)excessive light.

Her hand gripped her pick, and a small smile grew on her face.

Round 2__________

Zane Argentus_____
With a quickly spoken word, Zane flickers into view, his hand outstretched as 4 shards of light streak from his fingertips to unerringly strike one of Liz' opponents Hitting Number 4
Though difficult to see in the dim light of the Darkness field, Drow Skirmisher 4 is heavily wounded by the magic missiles.

LizArdoc_____
Liz acrobatics to 12-L to flank with Zephram.
Successfully; though the drow smile like you’ve made a mistake.
She then stabs at the drow.
Darkness miss chance?: 1d100 ⇒ 85 No miss.
You see the drow grin at Liz briefly before she runs Drow Skirmisher 3 through the vitals. He collapsed, surprise on his face. One of the two fields of Darkness vanish.

Sylvianna_____
As Liz vacates her previous spot, Sylvianna send a pair of arrows streaking toward the same drow struck by Zane's magic.
But unable to see or hit Drow Skirmisher 4 due to cover, she switched targets to Drow Skirmisher 2 and drops her with two excellent shots.

Zephram Taranis_____
Round 1 - Resolving Delayed Act
Zephram rushes up and stabs at the drow (#3).
And delivered an excellent hit for serious damage.

Round 2
Zephram waits a moment before attacking, taking a defensive posture as he studies its movements, I doubt that Sylvianna would appreciate my observations about how similarly the dark elves fight compared to their surface bretheren..
Stepping up, Zephram ran Drow Skirmisher 4 through. The last Darkness field vanished, leaving Liz in the open field under daylight.

Nakoda_____

Activating SLA Eyes of the Hunter.

Enemies__________________________
From their concealed position on top of the ancient Library, the two snipers took their shots at Liz.
Sniper 5 hand crossbow shot: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 for a possible 1d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + (3) = 6 piercing , precision and poison damage. Fort Save DC13 or Sleep.
Sniper 6 hand crossbow shot: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 for a possible 1d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + (2) = 4 piercing , precision and poison damage. Fort Save DC13 or Sleep.
...Crit confirm?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 for a possible extra 1d4 ⇒ 1 piercing damage to the left foot. -10' speed.

The ground combat is over, though the snipers will certainly fire at anyone who exposes themselves/fails a Stealth check.
When Liz dives into/is dragged into cover, the sounds of battle die away and the natural sounds of the forest arise again.

What do you do now?

Female Druid 1HP10/10F4R0W5Init+4Per6 AC12T10FF12

Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Ack! I feel sleepy.whoa! I'm not falling asleep! OKay we got sneak up there. I have some smokesticks that can provide some cover.

Sylvianna:

You think they won't send out another patrol (if they have the manpower) for another 20-30 minutes, since they can't tell how the fight is going (it was mostly behind concealment of brush and foliage) until they don't report back.
