The Observation Room
A large metal table is surrounded by odd-looking chairs in this room.
To the west, what appears to be a transparent wall looks out over a strange desert valley.
Four pillars support the fifteenfoot-high ceiling, while dozens of crude images of a pickaxe made of a skull and bones have been painted onto the walls with some sort of ivory pigment along with several phrases in an unrecognizable language.

Knowledge:Religion DC17:

You identify the images of the pickaxe as representations of Zyphus, god of accidental death and tragedy, yet the images seem crude and somehow off, as if they were created by someone who had never actually seen a real unholy symbol of Zyphus.

The writing on the wall belongs to no language any of you know, or even have heard of.
If you use Comprehend Languages:

The writing on the wall sheds a bit more truth— it is numerous prayers to someone the writer refers to as “The Shadow in the Sand” or “The Poison in the Plant” or “The Final Father” and the like.
The prayers themselves are a strange mixture of awe, adoration, frustration, and anger toward Zyphus, and anyone who reads the bulk of them comes away with the impression that the writer has been cursed by Zyphus and both hates and loves the god for it.

Searching the room and Perception DC20:

While searching the table and chairs you discover a single black striped access card—it looks just like the brown striped cards you all have except for the color.

Variel gives flynn a pained look. Yes, yes. Next time use that first if it works so well. In the meantime we need to seriously reconsider our ability to press on. Each and everyone of these things hits more often and harder than we do. Not only that but they resist our weapons damage. Let us rest here in this room keeping watch while we recover. Hopefully by then Cheshire will awake and the good doctor will be able to heal us all come morning.

Variel hauls Cheshire into the room and sets him in on a table to allow Rhaym to work on him. Once tha is done then Variel looks at the hea that is dropped, the words on the wall and for anything else of note.

Flynn looks out across the desert.

"Up until now we have barely made progress before we have to retreat . . . Now I am afraid we've made enough progress that we can't retreat. Not with a man down at least. All those things out there waiting for us."

He turns back and claps Varial on the shoulder with sincerity in his eyes.

Cheshire gets more antsy as he recovers. "Thank you for the healing Doc. I am about ready to move."

When he notes the card "Keep the card handy they operate the doors. The stripe might suugest which doors or different functionality."

Perhaps Flynn should hold onto the card then as he is typically up front. Once he checks for traps then he can try to open the doors up. Stretching and loosening up Variel graps his rapier and heads to the door. Ready to head out everyone. We may still have a long way to go.

"Wait just a minute, isn't anyone else concerned that we were locked in here---and a freaking skeleton just up and disappeared?!"

"Well perhaps but I was mostly dead so I am focusing on the fact I'm back. When did the skeleton vanish."

Honestly, if that is the first thing to give you pause then you might have some other issues as well. The first sign of something strange going on around here was when we passed through the door a few days ago and arrived on this strange landscape. After that everything has been weird.

Variel says this all matter of factly as he checks to make sure his rapier is free and this mind is clear and ready for the coming day.

"Yeah well nuthin' really surprises me down here."

Moving around the complex you find no trace of the Kasatha's body. It's puzzling, since the entrance you used to get in is still closed and locked.
Playing around with the card with the black stripe, you find out it can lock and unlock all the doors that the cards with the brown stripe can, plus the one eastern door that would not unlock at all for the others.

That door led to another long parallel hallway that curved north-south. The southern end petered out after sixty yards, filled with debris.
The northern end ended in a larger double door. It too was only unlockable by the black stripe card.

Beyond is a double wide corridor leading you some sixty yards to another locked set of doors. These too only unlock to the black card.

Beyond is a larger room than you have seen yet.
A large metal desk with blinking lights and strange glowing panels sits atop a raised area on the east side of this room near a circular table. Two couches covered with black material sit to the south a pair of black metal pillars.
Splatters of dried blood stain the floor and walls near a pair of doors to the north, while here and there patches of rust-red mold and fungus cling to the southern wall.
The room itself is brightly lit by glowing panels on the ceiling.

Flynn signals for quiet as he attempts to move across the room to inspect the blood and door. He looks for traps as he goes.
