Listening to the others, Byarsh lounges and eats stew whose richness hopefully will not overwhelm his stomach's familiarity with deficiency. After hearing Lylindra's tale, he contributes his own. Instead of directing his words to the translator, he focuses on the other former captives.

Camthi:
"I have spent the passage of seven moons wandering the northern lands seeking my own answers and sharing those answers I already have. I understand word started to spread of my passage, and for my advice I regularly received a place to sleep for the night or some food to calm my stomach's complaints. It would appear that the dragons do not appreciate that sort of behavior; as best I can piece together I was drugged and turned over to the dragon-men for some unknown purpose. I do not blame those who seem to have betrayed me, but I am not pleased by the influence of tyrants."

The Camthi speaking nomad translates both Lylindra's and Byarsh's stories into Sharrim for the benefit of the other nomads. Hearing Lylindra's story, one of the nomads listening smiles broadly, pulling from under his robes a chest piece made from the long fangs of a sabertooth tiger, saying something in his native tongue. The impromptu translator relays the message.

Camthi:
Weni also has the trophy and power of the predator. He can show you where to hunt the masters of the desert if you wish.

Dagan on the other hand is more interested in Byarsh's story, which has been relayed to him.

Orcish:
You are from the South then, I speak one southern tongue. I would be intersted in trading wisdoms with you. I too am one hungry for answers of the world, even lord Marduk knows little of the powers of the south.

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama listens intently to the stories being told, any observer can see he is memorizing bits of the story, working memnotic chants under his breath and sometimes tapping rhythms on his thighs. At a lull in the conversation he stands and begins to speak, first removing his robe to reveal an intricate full body tattoo. (Some might know this is the pe'a an achipelagian right of passage and mark of status). He appears to be using it as a reminder of who and what he is, he touches portions of the intricate design unconsiously as he speaks, these small movements turn his speech almost into a dance.

Camthi:
This is my story, the story of Tama Eloni, the wanderer, the far traveler, the story-seeker. It is an incomplete story, but maybe you will help me write the end.

I was born on the sea washed shores of a small island of the archipelago, a free man among a free people.

We fished from canoes, we gathered fruit, and we told stories, I found myself hungry to learn, I thirsted for stories so I learned them. Once I had learned everything I could, I traveled to the next island, next, next, and so on ...

Many and strange were the sights I saw and many and strange were the adventures, but my capture is not a big story, not a mighty clash of arms or battle of intellect, only the tawdry tale of betrayal (a lover, a cowardly magician, dragons and evil lackeys). Really standard fare for me.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

Timmon, knowing that Estil does not speak Camthi, will be translating things spoken in Camthi to Eresh for Estil (unless of course Estil is not around). I have to imagine as a player this has got to be getting fairly annoying not speaking the same language as everyone else and not being able to do anything about it until 2nd level at the earliest. If Estil would be willing Timmon will be teaching Estil the Camthi language as we progress (assuming the Estil is willing to take a rank in Linguistics at 2nd level.)

I dive into the food provided as if I had never had such food before, being careful not to waste as single morsel.
"Hebt u ooit zulke eten? Dit is echt een paradijs!"

Camthi:
Have you ever had such food? This is truly a paradise!

Sharrim:
Many thanks to you and your people. This hospitality is more than I can ever hope to repay. I am Timmon Wesgar and my story is simple. I have been a slave of the dragon lords for as long as I can remember. Four day prior to this I had finally found an opportunity to escape them and enjoyed my first few days of freedom in my life when I was recaputed due to the betrayal of one I thought I could trust. I thought for sure I would be taken back and made an example of but thanks to your timely rescue I taste freedom once again. My life is yours, use it as you will.

The nomads cheer and clap for Tama's story, and clap Timmon on the back after his story, clearly you have done well in your storytelling.

Eventually it seems time to rest and they go to their tents, motioning you and the other rescued captives to the tents they have set up for you.

Orcish:
"The power of the South grows for having embraced Ramlor, a self-proclaimed god that seeks to upset the realm's traditions in the name of conquest. There are many things to be said for the wisdom of the icy heights, but not all are open to them these days. I am disturbed by what I interpret as divine celebrities competing for the praise of men. Until I can see them for myself, I can pass no more judgment than this."

So many languages spoken here...I cannot operate like this without knowing something of what they are saying.

He eats a little more while observing others about the camp.

Orcish:
"The language of your people... is it difficult to learn?"

Female Human (Southern Tribes) Ranger (Guide/Scout) 2

Lylindra is nearly enthralled by the necklace.

She spends her evening peppering the nomad hunter with questions through the translator. Details of the hunt, locations, numbers, scars gained through the fight. She also relates her own stories, mainly of wolves and caribou. The great tigers were too much for her relative inexperience, though she tells of close calls and harrowing escapes.

RP Perception check 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Perform Oratory 1d20 ⇒ 19

She gets quite into the stories, paying only cursory attention to the conversation between Byarsh and Dagan. The topic does not seem nearly so interesting as tales of the hunt. She merely files away the knowledge that she can speak to Dagan if she needs to.

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

As we retire for the evening, through a mix of translators, pidgin, and pantomime I convey that we should help the nomads keep watch, I suggest each of us sleep with weapons to hand and one of us remains awake at all times.

We were captives together once, and I for one have no desire to be captive again.

I'm using a trait here to convey simple ideas without a shared language.

The nomads motion back that they will split up the watches, so that you can all have the first uninterrupted night of sleep in a long time.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

After the gather starts to break up for the evening I find Dagan and approach him alone.

DM Caleth:

Spoken in Sharrim "There was mention during the rescue that we might be the ones that Lord Marduk spoke of. When will we get to meet Lord Marduk and how would he know of one such as me? I am... err... was just a slave, what purpose could the 'god of mankind' have for me?"

Timmon:
Dagan seems all too happy to speak about Marduk. Not long ago, Lord Marduk received a vision of a ice-white raven and a man of stone both in chains and he sensed what he called "a potential". I was dispatched to investigate and I was honored by the ancient spirits of sand and wind to receive the same vision of the raven and stone man, which lead me to you. You will meet Lord Marduk soon, we are traveling to Aga-Esh to see him.

If nobody has any objections or more immediate roleplaying that they want to do, just to get things moving again, lets fast forward to the next morning.

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Perfectly fine by me

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

Fast forward away! Let's get moving.

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Ok.

The next morning, it seems that the three other captives rescued with you from the caravan have decided to return to their on village over the objections of Dagan. One of the nomads voulenteers to lead them back and they depart in the cart as everyone else packs up camp.

Human Free Hand Fighter

Estil is willing to learn something at least so that he can actually talk to the rest of the party instead of listen to chatter. Trust me, I work in a place where my mechanics are all russian (and really only speak russian.) My boss and fellow employees are pakastianian (and have a hard time speaking English too) and my customers are often Mexican and speak only Spanish.
It grates on ones nerves for too long, and I personally can't learn 3 additional languages + japanese. (Which is what I am wanting to learn and have been learning a little bit here and there. Cause I want to go to japan one day.)

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama helps strike camp and as we travel will attach himself to the Camthi speaking nomad and try to learn more about Marduk, the nomads and there plans.

I'm attempting a Gather Information 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

But it looks like I spend a lot of time discussing the different types of sand we drive past...very interesting!

Just as you are preparing to depart, you see a chariot with a single rider navigating the path up from the desert floor towards you with all haste. The rider is gesturing wildly to Dagan, who seems to recognize him. He arrives at your campsite and pulls up short in a cloud of dust.

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

The rider is a young and handsome Sharrim. His armor of bronze scales sparkles in the sun, as does the large round shield slung alongside his chariot. He holds the reins in one hand and a fearsome bronze trident on the other, and atop his helm is worked a scorpion, its stinger raised threateningly.

Though he approaches on haste, the expression on his face changes markedly when he recognizes Dagan.

Peki, Dagan ve şimdiye kadar değerli şehir. Ve de yabancılar? Neden Birinci Erkekler Kumların üzerine getirdi? Bunlar, belki de tüm bu sorun neden?

Sharrim:
Well well, Dagan, and so far from your precious city. And with foreigners as well? Why have you brought them upon the Sands of the First Men? Are they, perhaps, the cause of all this trouble?

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Brywn:
"These are strange lands that seem to reward brazen acts of daring and trumpeting one's challenges to all who might want a bite. For all of his crowing, he looks competent. How much do you suspect a Southern chief would pay for armor like that?"

He stands and waves to the newcomer, gathering from everyone else's reaction that he is not a threat.

Camthi:
"I know it is not the language of the area, but do you understand these words? I would offer you welcome to this camp, but it is not my camp. Still, you seem proud and at home here. What is your name?"

As I mentioned in the ooc thread, I am traveling, so posts will come, just don't hold your breath.

Dagan clearly knows the man who has just arrived and replies icily.

Spoiler:
I fail to see what your objection could be to rescuing these souls from the dragons. We will not be in your precious home for long, only to make all haste to Vitriax and then to Aga-Esh.

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

The newcomer ignores those not speaking in Sharrim, but the smirk on his face widens when Dagan responds.

Sharrim:
If it is Vitriax you wish to see, you are heading in the wrong direction. Warriors of the Dragons have crossed the Wardens en masse, and Great Vitriax has gone West to do battle with them.

Female Human (Southern Tribes) Ranger (Guide/Scout) 2

Lylindra, eager to know what the man newly arrived is saying, goes to Timmon.
"U spreekt vele talen, spellslinger.

Camthi:
You speak many tongues, spellslinger. What does dis stranger say. I see no weapons, and our host speaks to him, but who is he and why has he come to dis strange land of monoliths?

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

Sorry folks, I have been away since Wednesday night and have not had a lot of time to update here.

Timmon approaches the newcomer, using traditional Sharrim greeting gestures.

Sharrim:
Greetings to you and may the sun continue to guide you and bless you. You are an old friend of our host? I am Timmon and Dagan has done me great service by freeing me and the others you see here from the clutches of the dragon lords. Who is this Vitriax you speak of? Is he a great warrior and leader of men?
You will have to forgive the others here as it appears that I am the only of the rescued that understands your tongue.

Camthi:
He appears to be some sort of important person, judging from his fancy dress and chariot. He is a friend of our host and talks of the hordes of dragon lords crossing into some place called the wardens and that another warrior named Vitriax has gone to fight them. He seems to think that we are the cause of some of this trouble.

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

The man turns towards Timmon with a more genuine smile, though his voice is still tinged with dark humor.

Sharrim:
May the sun continue to guide you and bless you as well. It is good to meet an outsider who still honors the old forms of address, but you must be from far away to not know of Great Vitriax, to think him a man.

As for your rescue, it is perhaps meet that you were the first camp I encountered, as it seems likely that you are the prey the Dragons seek. You must be quite a prize to goad them to such a use of force; pray tell what you did to provoke them to such wrath.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

Sharrim:
I know not of the great Vitriax. Does he claim to be a god as Marduk does? For your information, before five days ago I knew no life outside of the slave camps of the dragon lords, all that is the outside world is new to me.
I know not what makes me different or more important to the dragon lords than any other slave in the camps. I did insult one of the dragon born that was leading the slave caravan but I somehow doubt that this amount of interest is because of harsh words spoken on my part. Whatever the reason, I would like to put more distance between myself and them as quickly as possible.

Dagan looks at the armored man in annoyance at the fact he is gloating instead of helping solve the problem.

Sharrim:
I will go aid Vitriax and draw the servants of the dragon off our tail. It is the least that I can do to repay the hospitality which he at least shows to the servants of Marduk. Give me your chariot, it will do you no good anyway where you must lead them.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

Timmon calls out to the rest of the rescued slaves (Translating into Eresh for Estil - just read the Camthi spoiler)

Camthi:
I suggest that we get ready to depart in a hurry. It seems that Dagan will be going back from where we came to assist this Vitriax in stopping the advancing dragon armies and we will be following this newcomer to a safe haven.

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

Samaerew wrinkles his nose at the proposition and looks Dagan up and down.

Sharrim:
Very well, and may our ancestors speed you on your path. Warn any you encounter along the way of the danger; I will lead these through the ruins of Hah-Inet to the oasis.

Take care of the chariot, though. Larrai of the Thousand Axes merely lent it to me to spread the news.

He turns to Timmon.

Sharrim:
If you have thrown sand in the eye of the dragons, then you are a friend of mine and of my people. Tell the others to prepare themselves to depart with all due haste. It seems you will be meeting Vitriax after all. I can answer your questions once we are safely out of the path of the Dragons.

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Standing, Byarsh's mouth twists in chagrin at having to start moving again despite making camp so recently. He kicks some sand into his fire and makes the few preparations necessary to leave on one of the wagons.

Female Human (Southern Tribes) Ranger (Guide/Scout) 2

Lylindra nods, showing little emotion.
She speaks to Dagan

But she doesn't dwell on him. If he were an enemy, our hosts would fight him, not chat with him, she thinks to herself.

She says, under her breath, to no one in particular, herself likely

Daar is erger lot, dink ek."

Orcish:
So I am to travel with but one who speaks the True Tongue, and a few who speak nothing heard even in the southern tribes who forgot the old ways. There are worse fates, I suppose.

She turns to Timmon

Camthi:
Spellslinger, does dis newcomer say where we are to go? If not ask him. I would know da lands ahead before I tread blindly, guided only by my trust in a stranger. I am a hunter. I dislike being blind.

Her stare is ice, and the words are spoken more as an order than a request.

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama stands, stretches and is clearly ready to travel.

Dagan gets into the chariot and motions for the to nomads to follow him with the cart. He adresses you as he rides off.

Sharrim:
I do not know what has caused the servants of the dragons to come this deeply into the desert, but I will distract them so that you can reach a place of safety. This man will lead you.

Dagan indicates that the man who just got out of the chariot will be joining you.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

Timmon takes a minute to perform his strange ritual and the stoney figure rises out of the ground. He then slings a pack filled with as much food and water as he had been able to scrounge and turns to the newcomer "Herkesin bu yüzden bize daha fazla zaman kaybetmeyin hareket etmeye hazır gibi görünüyor.Hah-Inet Kurşun."

Sharrim:
It seems that everyone is ready to move so let us not waste any more time. Lead on to Hah-Inet.

Sharrim:
Good. The dragons are hot on our heels; we must make haste to reach the safety of the ruins before they catch us.

And so we set off...

You set off, not along the desert floor, where Dagan and the nomads are headed, but farther up into the rocky crags above the sand. You move through canyons and under overhands, always seeming to want to keep yourselves under cover so as not to be seen from the sky.

You hear forbidding whispers around you in a foreign language, but you can tell Knowledge(Arcana): they are ancient magic.

As you proceed forbidding, whispered voices fill your head, in a language none of you understand. You begin to pass sealed stone doors carved into the rock, sealed with the same patterns of images drawn in the center of each door.
