M Human ( Chelis ) Fighter 2

Here it is the meat shield. Bought some basic gear, and took some thieves tool since his past as a would-be scoundrel;lacking a full background yet, will write it asap.
One question;i know nothing of CoT, are we starting with all of us already together or there is an "intro" or some thing like that ?

It has a way of drawing you all together. Not saying some of you can't already know each other, but it isn't required.

Male Aasimar Druid 2

Here's the rough cut for Jlighter's character. I have the background, I just need to take the time to pound it out. Check things, see if it all works. Let me know if something is wrong. I'll also stat out the animal companion when I do the background. Male Jaguar (big cat) named Theron.

Male Human (Azalanti) Hp: 96/110, AC: 30 Bard 8/Fighter 4

Here is my background, hopefully that is good enough, otherwise just give me a hint what you'd liek changed.

Spoiler:
Being born into the Keegan family is a mixed blessing, on one hand you have a family name with a large number of minor celebrities to throw around, on the other hand you also have the distinct “pleasure” of being born into a family which is said to have “enough black sheep to fill a field”.

Dereks grandfather was the famous thespian Olek Keegan, a man who for some time made the Westcrown theaters buzz after his latest performance, his son on the other hand was a lush, a leech and a ne’er do well.

Somewhere along the line, this wastrel managed to father a son before running off with the then co-star of his father’s latest play, thus causing a scandal that reflected badly on the family since the understudy was not very talented and the play was a financial fiasco. Luckily Olek’s skill on the scene was enough to spare the Keegan’s from the most outrageous accusations, never the less his carrier was now over.

Fortunately, his grandson, the young Derek seemed to have inherited the talent for acting, and by training him in the thespian arts Olek hoped to once more restore his family to some semblance of fame. What was more unfortunate was that Derek had also inherited his unnamed father’s lover for strong drink.

Had not fate intervened it is likely Dereks star would have risen fast and probably have burned itself out, but after a particularly successful performance of the play “Sir Lawrence and the goat” he and a cadre of hangers on went to celebrate. As luck would have it, one of the taverns they stumbled into was one of the chapel-taverns of Cayden Cailean, and even in his inebriated state, Derek saw the light.
Since that day, Derek has been part of the clergy, one of the rare Bards who have taken the wow and acts as a priest of the faith. Still guided with a certain flair for the theatrics, a love of beautiful women and a strong sense of independence he is now prepared to fight the good fight in the name of Cayden Cailean AND gather some fame, fun and profits along the way.

Male Human Rogue 1

Here's the party rogue. I'll be updating his profile as I create him today. I'm taking the trait "conspiracy hunter" and running with it, envisioning a noir-style detective. If he was on a case looking for a woman's missing husband, would that be a good hook to draw him into this adventure path?

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

it is only an impression of mine, or Fatty disappeared from the previous thread (recruit) before it even closed ?

Dark Archive

Well, if that is the case then I'm good with 5 unless you guys think we need a sixth.

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

AdastraGames has yet to post his pc, and if i recall right he was going to play a sorcerer, that would mean summoning support. With a druid in the healing line and his companion + his extra summonings we should be fine.

Added: just checked another OOC thread, he went in a Forgotten Realms pbp

Another person expressed interest in the other thread, if we do want a 6th. I don't know if the sorcerer will be optimized for summoning, and my rogue won't be min-maxed for combat, either.

Female Half-Orc Sorcerer, 7th (Brass Draconic Bloodline)

Here's Semenya.

She is not optimized for summoning. She's optimized for bringing enlightenment (or at least, rapid oxidization) to things.

She might also make a good backup for Delwood on social skills - perhaps Semenya and Delwood know each other before we begin? (Or maybe Delwood would like to shift a few skill ranks to other thief skills, and the two could be partners in investigation?)

Certainly with a bit of juggling Delwood and Semenya could complement each other nicely on skill selection. And Semenya would make an excellent backup/partner.

Dark Archive

Everything looks pretty good so far. Haven't noticed anything out of place.

Gandal - you get a set of clothes free, so you can save 10gp on that explorer's outfit you have.

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

I accounted the value just for the love of it, i didn't took it off my money ;) and anyway not sure what else i may need, saved 60 gold for later

AdAstraGames wrote:

Well i didn't mean to tell you how you should play your pc, i won't play a sorcerer optimizing summon school either. Just saying that i don't think we'll need a 6th

Sounds good, I can use that.

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

And if i may propose, Del Vane could have met Arodio during his investigations. He was also trying to find some rumored secret criminal organization, but of course his ways have never been the most subtle so he hasn't had any luck for now

Dark Archive

So we have, Del Vane who was hired by a noble's wife to investigate the disappearance of Arodio's last charge, which was a well-to-do noble, who may have gotten caught up in some bad business. Del and Arodio decided to stick together and try to uncover what happened to him.

Aw bugger, I was just going through that d20pfsrd and it looks like the one magical item I wanted badly isn't in it, but I can live without it, it was mostly a flavour thing, the Hero's Brew from the second darkness players guide.

As for knowing the others beforehand, I think I would acctually like to be a stranger when we start, might make for more interesting introductions, my character is afterall a bit of a "larger-than-life" sort...besides, according to the scriptures of Cayden Cailean, meeting strangers calls for a toast!

*grin* No offense taken.

And I've never tried to make a summoning specialist. It's very thematic, but I kind of saw some synergies with APG stuff and Draconic bloodline stuff.

Any chance that Del and Semenya are partners before we start?

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

Great mix of backgrounds CHP, congratz.

And speaking of Arodio, i apologize in advance for what he'll tell from time to time.He has a good heart...but isn't very skilled with words.

Semenya Carbachon wrote:

I cannot speak about this, take a look at the sorcerer i use in Kingmaker:

Elsbeth

I didn't realize Semenya had such high diplomacy. I swapped skill focus: diplomacy for alertness, so there won't be so much overlap. It sounds like Semenya tends to work for a higher class of clientele, but I think it would make sense that they could've crossed paths before. He might even be one of the people she talks to regularly when she's trying to gather information.

Yeah - she's going to have very high Diplomacy and Intimidate checks (and could have a thoroughly silly Bluff check if it fit her concept).

Unlike what usually happens with sneaky folks (Sneaky person goes on ahead, nobody else can follow without wrecking it for them), Semenya CAN do stealth with you - and her 120' Darkvision and not horrifyingly bad Perception roll (plus the Message spell) should make her a VERY useful asset - she can be a stealthy lookout, she can do the chit-chat side of things, and, well, if push comes to shove, she can Hypnotize folks or set things on fire....

M Human ( Chelis ) Fighter 2

Arodio has something to say in the scoundrel field too, he has +7 disable device...never saw that in a dumb tank

Male Human Rogue 1

CH-P, does it sound reasonable that traps and secret doors would count as concealed items for the "dump salvager" trait? That's the way I'd interpret it, but I wanted to make sure you read it the same way, so I'd know when I could apply it (or if I should look for a more useful trait).

That's fine.

I believe I have the second darkness players guide at home in PDF format. I'll take a look when I get home.

Dark Archive

Boggbear - Keegan is missing the -1 Armor Check Penalty on his physical skills from his studded leather.

Gandal - Arodio is also missing Armor Check Penalty on skills from his armor.

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

I'm used to take it in account separately, if you want otherwise i'll correct it.

Gandal wrote:

That's ok. Just wanted to make sure you take it into account.

DM CH-P wrote:

Ah yes, sorry about that, forgot I decided against the MwK Studded leather in the end, but it was an easy fix. Only had one Physical skill listed so far.

Always a chance Derek might be impressed by the stealth of the other party members later on.

DM CH-P wrote:

Ok, if you decide against it I understand completly, as I said it was mainly a flavour thing, tho if you decide to include it, you might look at the other two items listed there as well.

Dark Archive

The Hero's Brew is a tad bit expensive for a first level to have. Doesn't mean you won't find one later though ;)

Haha oh no, that was absolutely not the idea, was mearly curious if you would allow it at all, if so I'm probably going to take the Brew potion feat and make 'em myself. The Rapier I'd have to buy, only Paladins get bless weapon, and I we don't have one of those, and as for the ring, sounds like something that might be possible to buy too.

HAHA, ok. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Those are cool flavor items and would definitely allow them in my game.

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

I'ld need to know if i have to buy provisions, camping or outdoor items now or can do it once we have started

Dark Archive

You'll probably want at least rations and waterskin, maybe a bedroll. Nothing crazy at first though. It is city based, but you may end up sleeping in some rough places.

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

Dots disappeared again :(

Added: and now are reappearing :)

Here is a little idea for the Dm's eyes.

Spoiler:
How about this, the nobleman that dissapeared was perhaps a bit dissatisfied with his current life, maybe his wife is a shrew or something, and so he decided to run away, and do the thing people do when they run away (join the circus) only since he was a nobleman he would instead join a teather, and end up as a pupil of Dereks grandfather, when they find him he will need to use all his new acting talent to avoid his wife's wrath, and that way the intrepid detectives might have meet Derek's grandfather and thus know the family name of Keegan, but without knowing my character. Just a thought really.

Should we add another player in case jlighter withdraws? If he rejoins us, then we'll just run with 6, like we would have if fatty hadn't withdrawn.

Depending on who joins, I can create an oracle with healing focus, if we still need healing. Arodio & Semenya could probably split the rogue duties, if necessary.

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

Just noticed myself, any news of Jlighter?

Sounds good :)

Dark Archive

I'll put out a call tonight if he hasn't posted. I will also try to get the IC thread up in the next few days I hope.

Jlighter posted early yesterday with his rough character, we'll see what happens

Shadow Lodge

Undead masquerading as Human

Sorry. Things have been crazy busy. I'll post a background with my character soon. I'm still here, somewhere. Kind of floating in the Etherspacenetthingie. I'm definitely still in. My world just got a lot smaller in a very short time, so I didn't have time to post anything or even get to the Internet for a while.

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

Welcome back :) i know what you mean, i've 2 weeks vacations from work and planned to do lots of things with all of that free time....well holiday is almost gone and i managed to do not even 1/3 of what i needed :(

Male Aasimar Druid 2

Here's a more updated version of Jlighter's druid, including a character background and stats for Theron. Take a look, see if I've done anything wrong or if I should scrap the background and do it over.

Glad we still have you. The background is good. As far as I can tell everyone looks good. Hopefully tonight I will be able to put up the IC thread.

Arodio, once spent the starting income, has the light encumbrance almost full. Do we get to have some store place or must bring everything on our back ?

Dark Archive

Gandal wrote:

At first I don't think there is anywhere, but I believe there will be. According the rules, you take the worse of the 2 load penalties when you have a medium load and armor, and I believe armor beats load most of the time. So technically when wearing medium armor and carrying a medium load it does not hurt you.

From Load:
Medium +3 –3 20 ft. 15 ft.

From Armor:
Scale Mail +3 –4 20 ft. 15 ft.

Male Human Rogue 1

As a resident, I imagined Del Vane would have a regular place. I should've looked harder for this earlier. I think Vane could probably afford something between poor and average - maybe 6-8 gp a month. Not sure how big that would be - I imagine just a room with a bed, desk, and dresser, that shares a bathroom with his floor and a limited kitchen with the whole building. Arodio could probably keep his stuff there, but he may rather sleep at an inn than on the floor.

M Human ( Chelis ) Fighter 2

Well his is a street thug background, haven't taken that in account, but he is probably an orphan, but lately he has some decent job even thought he surely must accept the most cheap until he has a bit of fame. Effectively ho could probably be needing to share a room with someone else.
