I'd just like to point out that even if the group is invisible, the act of opening the gate will be very visible.

I believe I've only used 2 barkskins so far today.

I thought you cast barkskin on yourself before entering the Mhartis estate, but I see now that it was GMF instead. But, you did cast one on Xerath while there.

So, if you cast one on yourself and one on Appario now, that will make 3 total. Of course, if only Appario is the beneficiary of a barkskin, then all misunderstandings are on me ;)

Oof! I'm sorry that I didn't give more warning about Gen Con. My thanks to Appario for mentioning it and suggesting that I be NPCed in the meantime.

No worries. I've used two charges from your wand of CMW, but I haven't cast any spells. If you don't want to use those charges, just tell Maddok he has another 27 points of damage :)

In other news, I picked up Varisia: Birthplace of Legends.

I've heard only good things about the Varisia book. Looking forward to my next paycheck so I can get my hands on some of the most recent offerings as well :)

I started a Thundercaller just before Gen Con, and she played amazingly.

Yeah, I'm strongly considering making my next PFS character a Thundercaller.

So, for us who don't know, what is a thundercaller?

It's a Shoanti bard archetype. You give up some of the social stuff for more primal things. You trade Bardic knowledge for the same bonus but for Handle Animal, Survival, and Knowledge Nature.

The big trick is the performances they get.

Trade Inspire Competence for a performance that functions as Sound Burst but with scaling damage (1d8 per 2 levels or so).

Trade Suggestion for Rage as per the spell and you can use it on enemies.

Trade Dirge of Doom for Call Lightning.

Being able to do this stuff as a move action makes for some neat combat options.

Hmmm, not bad, especially if you combine it with that Shoanti weapon I read about somewhere, the Totem spear.

The best way to fight someone that deals obscene amounts of damage when they flank, and nearly no damage when they don't flank, is to not allow them to flank. Retreating into the narrow hallway will accomplish that, for instance, like in the beginning of this encounter.

Well it would help if one of us(that shall remain nameless) actually decided to fight as opposed to heal himself.

Naturally, blinding all of the enemies also works well :)

I like this encounter. People are actually fearing for their character's life, which is good, and will likely succeed anyway, which is even better!

Withdrawing would have meant leaving Derek to fend for himself. At least by killing the middle creeper I can blind most of them for a turn and buy us some time.

Yes, it was probably both the best course of action, and the most fitting course of action for Maddok.

Plus any withdrawing would only have worked if everyone did it :)

I will be manning the tables at Dragon*Con this weekend, and what little time I do have...I'm scheduled to work. You can consider me out of commission from Friday morning to Monday evening.

Bah. I was hoping everyone (except Derek) would be back to normal posting today, but just now I realized you Americans have a holiday on this particular Monday. Conventions should finish on Sundays! :)

On a side note.. How many PFS scenarios does one typically manage to play through during a convention?

This is a four day convention with 10 slots.

I DMed the Midnight Mirror which counts as 3 and played the rest.
