I am not recruiting any new players.
Sorry.

The scenario is 7th-11th, and so far it looks like we will be playing low tier, but that could change.

Will the following individuals please check in:

Baerlie
Lithrac
RyckyRych
GM Aavid
GM Snider

Please introduce yourselves and your characters a bit. I have not read or begun to prep the scenario yet, so we are looking at at least a few days before we begin.

Once I get everyone here, I'll open the Recruitment thread where I'll be asking for PFS numbers, Day Job rolls, and things like that.

I'll also open the Game Play Thread, and create the Campaign as well, allowing everyone to dot. Please save this to favorites and check back every once in a while until then.

Fendahl, appears to be a half-elf with a hint of wild in his appearance, especially his silvery hair and sideburns. His katana and dragonhide armor are covered with markings from the far East.
Closeby, there is a large lioness that follows Fendahl closely, watching for commands or an occasional treat from his companion.

Lion Shaman/Samurai with a lion animal companion. Not sure what levels we have, but Fendahl is good to play up or down tiers.

A massive, yet not towering mass of stone and earth walks into the lounge where the Venture-Captain has the Pathfinders waiting - an uncommon sight indeed! Its body seems made of granite, and while it appears to be chipped in many places, the whole of it appears invulnerable, unbreakable, formidable. A beard of orange and red crystal even make it look like a dwarf of sorts.

The creature - for lack of a better word yet - is wearing a finely crafted, solid-looking mithral full plate armor, adorned with veils and shades not unlike those worn in northern Garund among the desert folk. Numerous weapons are his arsenal, ranging from sharp falchions in various metals to a massive spiked hammer. The no-nonsense attitude the creature has makes him look as if he was ready to enter the Worldwound itself, among the first lines of warriors.

"Name's Basalte. I'm Pahmet, from Osirion, but also Oread. Earth folk." he simply rumbles, is voice as low as the deep echoing voice of the earth.

He's a Living Monolith, one of the elite guards of Osirion, with ties to the Sphinxes. He's also an oread who's been brought up by dwarves (thus he's very dwarf-ish in his attitude).

Note: I've received my CS for my latest scenario today, so Basalte will be levelled up and ready this evening.

No problem. I misunderstood, thinking you meant after this game you would be level 7. Looks like we are just waiting on DM Snider, who I know is deployed and might be a bit late.

Fendahl Silvermane -> Lion Shaman/Samurai 9
Elenial Windwalker -> Ranger 7
Basalte -> Barbarian/Fighter/Living Monolith 9
Bizzle Goodwager -> Sorcerer 9
??? -> ???

So far APL = 34. If he brings a Level 9 or higher character, it's High Tier. Otherwise it's Low Tier, unless people want to play up.

For everyone that has posted their character, please head over to the Recruitment thread and follow the instructions there.

Just a little update. Still reading and prepping the scenario, and also trying to get my other two games to a good point I can manage to step away for a little while to get this one rolling.

It also looks like we have another person joining, and I am still missing someone in the Recruitment thread.

Fendahl Silvermane -> Lion Shaman/Samurai 9
Elenial Windwalker -> Ranger 7
Basalte -> Barbarian/Fighter/Living Monolith 9
Bizzle Goodwager -> Sorcerer 9 <Please see Recruitment Thread tab up top>
Bane -> Monk 7
Noisy -> Bard/Gunslinger 8

9 + 9 + 9 + 8 + 7 + 7 = 49 49 / 6 = 8.2

Not sure if I'm supposed to be here or not... but DMB said to pop in for now, so I am!

You hear him long before you see him, his voice easily heard even from a distance, with a timbre that seems to carry over most everything.

The source, a well dressed dwarf, eventually saunters into the room with a hearty greeting, stopping to talk loudly to everyone he passes with practiced ease.

It quickly becomes obvious he has no inside voice at all: high volume, all the time. All exasperated by a tendency to start habitually tapping complex percussive beats on pretty much any surface he comes across, often pausing to ponder the sound two random objects might make when banged together.

Dressed in practical well-kept clothes and a chain shirt, the most noticeable pieces of his equipment are a well-used hand drum hanging off one hip, and a long double-barreled firearm hanging over his back.

"Well met!" He says loudly, to the room. "My name is Noisy!" He smiles widely.

"Well," He amends, after a moment. "Officially, I guess its the Marquis de Noisy now! Big important muckity-muck that I am and all... after all that Mendev business. We Taldan's do love our titles! Har!"

He laughs, clearly not too impressed by it all, but happy to play along.

"Originally from Kravenkus" He adds with a grin.

** The Unofficial Official Response on PbP Gameday IV, PbP VLs, and TLaPD 2015 **

PbP Talk Like a Pirate Day will start on Saturday, September 19th, 2015 and run through Saturday, October 17th, 2015.

GMs can run any Pirate(ish) themed PFS scenario, or the Pirate themed PFS sanctioned APs. There will be booty.... errrrr.... boons and prizes.

[There will also be a VTT TLaPD Gameday(s) September 19th-20th, 2015 to correspond with the PbP kickoff.]

TLaPD Official Website

The game submission deadline for GMs running anything for TLaPD will be August 22nd, 2015 (To get scenario support). Submission form will be included in official announcement later.

We originally planned on PbP Gameday IV starting in July, 2015. Dunwich directives from the elder gods (see previous post) drove us to postpone that until after GenCon 2015.

Due to the way scenario support for gamedays/cons is issued, the earliest available start date after GenCon 2015 would be Saturday, August 29th, 2015.

Since that date is right before TLaPD, what we are going to do is start the gameday with TLaPD, and then run the full gameday for 2 months past the end of PbP TLaPD.

(The side-effect/benefit of the delay will be that the PaizoCon/GenCon materials will be opened up at that point for the PbP gameday.)

The deadline for GMs running anything for PbP Gameday IV will also be August 22nd, 2015.

There will be an official post for the Gameday coming soon.

Now, that all being said, (it looks like it was pushed back a second time), there is more that hasn't been announced about this Game Day just yet.

Wanted to note that I had Noisy upgrade his cloak of protection from +1 to +2 (3k), and his headband of charisma from +2 to +4 (12k) this scenario. (You asked about this in the recruitment thread, but I wasn't aware of how much cash I had at the time)

Also, how do you want to handle faction journal card stuff? I know some of them can take up a fair bit of RP time, and some GM's like to resolve them at the end... though this can be a bit incongruous for some of the tasks.

Shadow Lodge

||CORE Rotating DM ||Fingerprints||King Xeros ||Serpent's Skull||

I'm perfectly fine with people trying to complete Faction Card goals. Towards the end, I'll ask people to present which goals they think they might have completed, (remember you can only get 1 checked off per game), and we will discuss it. The Faction Goals do not require the DM to sign off on them, but rather work on the Honor System, and so do I. So the general idea is that if we both agree on your accomplishment of a goal, you check it off.

Now that the first combat is going on, I wanted to take a minute to kind of explain a few things.

When there is a Surprise Round, I will post, but cross out the normal full Init order. I want people to be able to see it and have an idea when they are up, but also to make sure it's not confusing to those that can act in the Surprise Round.

After the Surprise Round is done, I will not be striking through anyone.

Something I do to indicate who is up is to Bold those names that are up. So, if your name is Bolded, it's your turn. Sometimes people will post a bit out of order, which is fine, but I try to wait a little bit and once I have at least a few people's actions (in order), I'll kind of update and place all the actions in order, as well as do a bit of Round by Round narration.

You might also notice that besides everyone's names in the Inititive Order I have included (). In there, I will place a few little reminders for everyone's benefit. So, If for example you trip the Hyena and also deal 5 damage, the Init Order will look like:

ROUND 1
Hyena (prone, -5)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Noisy (), Bizzle (), Bane (), Elenial (), Fendahl (), & Basalte ()
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Kaphiri ()

Also, as both Fendahl and Basalte are bolded, both of them are up to act, while everyone else before them has already gone.

To keep things simple, I do not alter the Inititive Order for Readied Actions. I do for Delays, and that's just because Delayed Actions tend to be rarer while Readied Actions tend to be a lot more common, (and it can get confusing at times to keep swapping the Init around).

At any time, if you have a question, feel free to ask. Also, if you think I made an error, feel free to let me know. Heck, I just found out for the first time in all these years playing PF (and 3E before that), that PF changed the way Grapple works and you no longer drag the target into your square any more. Would never have caught that if someone didn't point out my mistake in another PbP game.

I'm also pretty open to trying different ways to do things and trying to improve my games. So, if you have any suggestions, please let me know. I first began running PbPs while I was deployed, and have continued to do so as I 've deployed after that. So, I try to find methods and programs that are generally accessible, (say from a work computer), free, and easy to use. Generally, for example, Google Drawings and Documents are not blocked, and you don't need an account as a player to use them. The largest issue I tend to run into though, is that most touch screens will not allow you to move the individual layers (your mini).

It also helps a great deal if you use a spell, or sometimes even an uncommon Feat or things like that if you can include a link to the PRD or the unofficial SRD. If I can, I try to check throughout the day from my phone, and if there are links to things I can see quickly, it makes it a lot more likely I can update throughout the day. If you can't, you can't. No problem. But if you can, please do.

It also helps a lot if you can be as descriptive (or rather as informative) in your posts as you can, so if we need to alter things a little bit, (for example they guy/gal right before you killed the target you wanted to attack), I can just sort of shift it to another reasonable target without slowing down the game while everyone waits for someone to redo their action. It can really help if you include a backup plan/action, just in case.

A lot of times in the game, I'll include different checks in spoilers, for example:

Perception DC 25:
You spot a hidden coin purse stuffed in one of the thug's boots.

I use the honor system, so expect that those that make the roll will check and those that do not will not. So, please keep that in mind, if you make the check, you might be the only one that knows that little bit of information, and please let the other know what you found out.

It's a small problem I've encountered in the past, where one person makes the check and just expects everyone to read the spoiler. Some people do, other do not, so I figure it's best just to get everyone on the same page, so please just tell everyone else what they didn't find out so there is no confusion about it.

Faction Card question DMB.

I know the typical Shadow Lodge centric scenarios of the time involved them trying to not only destroy the Pathfinder Society, but also to get them in trouble with the local city they are in.

Was this one of those?

The task in question being: complete a mission tied directly to enhancing or preserving the reputation of the pathfinder society in the eyes of another nation or organization.

Shadow Lodge

||CORE Rotating DM ||Fingerprints||King Xeros ||Serpent's Skull||

Id say yes, especially with Kaphiri. Most of the others where not directly trying to defame the society, though many of them did anyway.
