I was waiting on your roll! Raia can route power to the guns this round, but it doesn't change Obozaya's damage roll so I'll post.

The goblin ships open fire with their lasers and flak cannons, but Navasi's fancy flying cause them to narrowly miss! Obozaya retaliates with a blast from the particle cannon that blows apart the damaged junkracer! Only one goblin ship remains!

"Let's end this. Raia, would you do the honors of piloting this fine ship while I work on something to put a little fear into them?"
Navasi moves to the comm console and broadcasts a message on a frequency the goblins can hear. "Starfinder command, this is Captain Navasi. We've engaged the enemy and find no evidence of anything more than light fighter ships. No traps detected. Commence with the full assault. 'Ware the tractor beam, however."

Navasi returns to the helm. "Thanks, Raya. I'll let you get back to engineering. We might try boosting the speed of the ship so we can get behind this sucker or at least keep it off our tail."

Navasi Envoy 4 Pregen Clebsch |
Navasi loops around to come up behind the goblin racer. "Get someone to the fore and port gunnery stations! We can hit with three guns. Let's end this!"
I believe I've placed the ship so that the goblin ship is in the firing arc of the fore, port, and turret guns. I'd recommend that Raya fire the fore light particle beam and Aleon fire the port laser net, while Obozaya continues firing the Turret gun.

Flak Cannon: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 2 = 11
The goblin's ship swivels its flak cannon to track you as you loop around behind it. It fires a shot, but Navasi dodges the blast and positions to take full advantage of your weaponry. With Alaeron/Keskodai's encouragment, Obozaya and Raia fire the Pegasus's particle beams. Both tear into the scrapfighter, and it blossoms into a colorful fireball as it disintegrates completely!
The tractor beam stops targeting your ship, leaving you free to land on Salvation's End. Scanning the surface reveals a strong signal coming from one location. Several suitable landing sites are nearby, allowing you the reach the signal's location with just a short hike. Your sensors also detect a thin atmosphere and low gravity around the false moon.

"Well, it is not like they are unexpecting of our arrival. We go in with weapons hot I think." suggests the Vesk as she gets into battle armor.
Navasi Envoy 4 Pregen Clebsch |
"Good teamwork, everyone," Navasi calls out as she guides the ship in to land. She checks her ammo, grenades, and other gear before heading out. She activates her D-suit's environmental protections and activates her helmet's infrared sensors before disembarking.
"Just so you all know, I like to hang back a bit in battle, using ranged weapons and keeping up some chatter to help us all stay frosty and dealing with all threats. If I call your name and say 'incoming', be prepared to hit the deck if you want to avoid a ranged attack. I also like to feint in combat, so don't take anything I say to the enemy seriously."
Navasi's Watchout Improvisation: As a reaction, when an enemy makes a ranged attack against an ally within 60 feet of you, you can warn that ally of the danger. You must spend your reaction when the enemy declares the attack but before it makes the attack roll. Your ally can spend a reaction to gain a +4 to AC against the triggering attack. Once the triggering attack is resolved, the ally falls prone.
So each round, the first ranged attack at anyone that Navasi is aware of will activate this reaction and the player can decide if he/she wants to take advantage of the warning to get the AC boost at the expense of going prone.
DM Brainiac |
An amalgam of crudely tethered starships rises from the pocked outer crust of Salvation's End, like a broken finger pathetically reaching towards the stars. The entrance into this carapace of hulls—the exposed hangar bay of a doomed space transport—rests atop a quarter-mile of crushed starship hulls.
A shattered spacecraft covers the entry area and back end of this immense hangar. The remains of the ship spread across the exposed northern bulkhead. Several sparks flash amid exposed wiring. The telltale shrieks of goblin songs ring out from the hangar's rear, accompanied by the recognizable bangs and whirrs of a salvaging crew. A ship hull plate sits discarded near the entrance. Just below a number designation, in bold red letters, reads the ship's call sign: Archer. This is all that remains of Livewire's ship.
Four space goblins gleefully salvage the wreckage, while another two stand on the catwalk above them. The upper group harass their kin by tossing scrap metal down on them, giggling with delight. When the goblins notice you approaching, though, they shriek excitedly and reach for cobbled-together laser pistols!

Two of the goblins look bigger and tougher than the others. They move forward and wave their junklasers at Obozaya menacingly. "Burn the scales and cook the meat!" one chants. The other adds, "Lizard flesh is good to eat!" Their attempts to intimidate the vesk soldier don't work very well.

Do the pieces of junk spaceship drawn on the map hinder movement or provide cover? Are the goblins at the top elevated? If so how far?
Navasi advances with her semi-automatic drawn and ready. When the goblins attack she starts to fire at one of the goblins on her flank and then at the last moment redirects her fire at the goblin Obozaya just attacked.

The pieces of junk block movement and provide cover. The catwalk rises up 40 feet--the ceiling is 80 feet high. A set of stairs in the bottom left corner of the map lead up to the catwalk. Note that you can jump three times as high or far as normal due to low gravity if you wanted to try an Athletics check to jump up.
Obozaya rushes forward, scorching the goblin with the flaming blades of her doshko. Navasi fails to feint, but still lands a good shot with her pistol, puncturing the goblin's shoulder.
The remaining four goblins spread out, some taking cover behind starship parts. They fire their junklasers at Obozaya, but the soldier's armor absorbs their blasts!

Aleon/Keskodai and Raia are up!
DM Brainiac |
Since Aleon double-posted, I'll use his first rolls.
Keskodai fires his pistol, but the shot whizzes past the goblin. Raia sends a trio of magic missiles streaking toward the goblin on the catwalk. They strike home, and the creature shrieks and falls!
The big goblin Obozaya hit takes a guarded step back and shoots at the vesk with his souped-up junklaser. The one on the upper floor takes two shots at Raia, but both miss.

Aleon/Keskodai shoots the goblin in front of him between the eyes! The sonic blast scrambles the goblin's brain, and it falls twitching to the ground.
Raia empowers her weapon and shoots the goblin on the upper level. It blasts clean through his chest, leaving a smoking hole behind, and he crumples to the ground!
Since both big goblins are down, Obozaya and Navasi are up again!
Navasi Envoy 4 Pregen Clebsch |
"You are trespassing on Starfinder property. This is your last chance to surrender!" Navasi calls out as she moves up.
She points her pistol at the north goblin.

"Yes, okay! No eat Stinkface!" the goblin whimpers. "Tractor beam pull ship from space, crash into hangar bay. We worship glowing green god, but it stopped granting miracles. Our wire-shaman, Gutproud Techtalker, bring us here to salvage wreckage while she sealed herself away in the glowing green chamber to commune with god!" He points to a door on the upper catwalk leading to a partitioned chamber.
"Two of the ship's crew were slaughtered, one rat escaped gloriously amid a giant fireball! Big, pretty boom! And two were taken below for sacrifice to the Spirit!"" The goblin points to the double doors on the opposite side of the catwalk. "Elevator takes you down. Touch the three hearts then you zoom to the Spirit Hole!"
_Lem |
"Show us what you have taken from the ship." commands Omozaya.
"And tell me about the two crew members who you took below. Which ones were they? When did they get taken down there? Very recently? If so, we don't have much time.."
DM Brainiac |
Stinkface jabbers at the other goblin, who scrambles to sort through a pile of junk and scrap metal and bring it to you. There doesn't seem to be much of real value there, save for a leather tool harness embroidered with the name "Livewire." The tools appear to be related to computer hacking.
"They big boys! Brothers, maybe? They look the same! Chief Ritarip Metalskin take them down many days ago for sacrifice! Must be good sacrifice if she not done yet!"
Navasi Envoy 4 Pregen Clebsch |
Navasi fishes some wire from the rubble and uses it to tie the goblins' hands and then ties them to something immovable. She also removes anything like a comm unit or communicator from their gear, if she can. "That should keep you out of trouble. You'd better hope those big guys are still alive."
With that, she reloads her pistol to replace the rounds she fired and heads for the elevator.
DM Brainiac |
A ladder leads up to the catwalk, but that portion ends at a locked door leading into the partitioned chamber above. You can either try to unlock it and walk through there, or clamber up the debris to the catwalk on the opposite side near the elevator doors.
It's a DC 20 Engineering check to unlock the door. Alternately, it's only a DC 10 Athletics check to climb up on the other side due to the low gravity.
_Lem |
"That doesn't sound good. But the chief being gone for two days doesn't sound good either.." he asks the goblins "Has the chief been gone for two days before? "
_Lem |
Thinking for a moment, Lem pokes her head into Livewire's ship to see if there are any valuables that the goblins may have overlooked.

The goblin shakes his head. "Sometimes. This big place! Easy to get lost if not careful. We crawl through exhaust tunnels to get around. That why we called Exhaust Drinker tribe!"
The toolkit counts as a computer hacking kit. In addition, anyone attempting to repair a computer with the Engineering skill receives a +2 bonus to the check while using these tools.
Navasi Envoy 4 Pregen Clebsch |
Navasi climbs the ladder and checks the door to the room at the south side of the area. "It's locked. Anyone want to try to figure out a way past this door. Might be worth a look-see what's in here in case it will help. Might be a computer we can use to pull up layout map or perhaps a way to look at what's going on down there before we head down--security cameras might still work."
It's annoying the way the pre-gen character creation concentrates all the skill points on the same set of skills, leaving some very useful skills without ranks. Even though engineering, disguise, intimidation, and medicine are class skills of the envoy, Navasi has not a rank in any of them, not only making her unable to make engineering or medicine checks but also sacrificing the +3 that comes with spending a rank in a class skill. By 4th level, Navasi has 44 skill points to spend and all are concentrated in 11 skills, leaving 4 class skills with no ranks. Frustrating.
