@ Karish re stabilizing and getting back in the fight.

Here is the relevant section of the rules.

You can use resolve points to stabilize, but there are other ways to become stable, such as the Stabilize spell and the First Aid use of the Medicine skill.

Luanna used the Stabilize spell on Karish before the point where Karish would have to spend resolve to stabilize.

If you are stable with 0 hit points, you can then spend a resolve point to "stay in the fight." This gives you 1 hp and you become conscious.

That's how I read the rules, anyway. If I'm missing something, let me know. This is an important rule to understand.


Right. Karish didn't spend RP to stabilize. He spent one to gain 1 HP and become conscious. The second was to recover his SP during the 10-minute rest.

I'm sorry. I thought it was being said that he had to spend the rp to become stable before spending the point to regain consciousness. Spending the RP to regain the stamina points is necessary. Sorry for introducing confusion where none existed.

Can our personal comm units be configured with some kind of earbud to allow us closed channel short range radio communication, like TV cop dramas like NCIS or Scorpion? Today those things might still be at the edge of science fiction, but in the future, I'd think it would be straight forward.

I have a feeling that everyone would like me to deactivate the explosive and nobody dares to go with me. According to what it says in the core rulebook, the deactivation of the explosives is a tough job. I alone without help have a 15% chance to succeed.

It is the more dangerous route. The instructions you found would give you a +2 bonus on the Engineering check, but failing the DC by 5 or more would cause the bomb to explode. If even one bomb goes off, you would fail the secondary success condition of the scenario.

Letting the Obsidian Spiders take care of the bombs means you miss out on a potential boon, but it doesn't decrease your other rewards in any way. You can still call them off before going into the AV booth if you want to attempt to disarm the bombs yourself.

I think my suggestion may have been misinterpreted. I suggested when we want to indicate we are speaking over our comm units via earphones, we add pointed brackets like so:

"<Testing comm units. 1 2 3.>"

Telepathy can be indicated by bold italics in quotes.

"This is a voice in your head"

My posting may be limited for the next few days. My home computer is in the shop and so I'm limited to using my iPad or my work computer. It's also the start of a new teaching term, so that keeps me a bit busy the first few days. How high was DC for disarming the bombs?


The DC was normally 18, but since you found the instructions in the engineering bay, the DC went down to 16.

Before we started I thought DC would be 25 because the core rulebook says that DC for deactivating explosive is DC 25.


I guess they wanted to make it easier for low-level characters in this scenario.

Congratulations on successfully completing the scenario! You completed both the primary and secondary success conditions. Here is the chronicle sheet for the scenario. You gain 2 Fame and Reputation for the faction for which you have a Champion boon slotted. You also gain 1 bonus Reputation for both the Acquisitives and Second Seekers factions.

If you all want to keep playing as a group, I would be happy to run another scenario for you. I have access to all six that have been currently released. I believe none of you have credit for 1-04: Cries from the Drift, so that might be a good one to choose.

I heard that they were going to start publishing Starfinder scenarios at a rate of 2 per month so hopefully there will be more selection soon. For now, I suspect the only way to have a long running PBP Starfinder game is to run the AP or homebrew.

Is the quest open to level 2s? If so that would be good.

Otherwise my preference is probably for the pregen scenario, as 1-4 has space combat, and not only can that drag on in PBP, but Kultanien can offer little to help with it.


The quests are only open to level 1 characters, unfortunately. So I guess the pregen special would work the best if people are interested in playing it. Otherwise, we'll have to end things for now until more scenarios come out.

How does the boons and other rewards for using pregen characters work in SFS?


You get a chronicle sheet that you can apply to another of your characters when they hit level 3.


Scenario 1-07 just came out and it's for tier 1-4! If everybody is still interested, I can run it for this group. :)

Funny, I too am thinking of changing characters. I have a 2nd level icon envoy 1 / operative (spy) 1 who is a better fighter than Luanna and has mad bluff, disguise, diplomacy, and other charisma based skills. It does mean we could either use a mystic for healing or else folks will need to stock up on healing serums.
