Downtime Gnome Sorceror (draconic) 5

Furiel remembers the intelligence. He tells Kesten:
"Avoid contact with the kobolds as much as possible. They may be infectious. Make sure no one sneaks off."

Hyassus looks uncomfortable as he speaks (and not just the leather armor too tight for his tall and wide-shouldered frame) "Yes'm. I'll go check'n see if he's uh willing to be disturbed." He does not appear accustomed to playing the subservient - his face is designed for intimidation.
He looks over the group quickly before reaching for the knob... his head bobs, and his lips move silently - likely counting your number.

Kesten pats his saddle bag for the feel of the manacles, and nods to Furiel as he hangs back with a fair view of all but directly behind the farmhouse for runners.

Downtime Gnome Sorceror (draconic) 5

Furiel decides it would be wise to accompany the big man in.
"I am a little thirsty."

The Green Man had at first intended to take an active role, but seeing that others have stepped up with a plan of their own, he felt content to wait and see how it all played out.

My comrades know what they do, and besides, I can learn from this, by observing.

Sonechka nods at Furiel. "I'm sure our friend didn't mean to leave his master's associates waiting outside the door like unwelcome peddlers."

The Green Man covers his mouth to stop his grin from showing.
And they say that politeness and good courtesy is a shield? Who ever said that has not seen it used as a razor sharp knife.

Hyassus calls out "Master!?"
The front door opens to a hallway leading toward the back of the house, and stairs leading up run alongside.
An older woman sets down her needlepoint in the sitting room directly to your left. She speaks "Hyassus? What is-" She then sees Furiel and Sonechka right on his heels, and stands "What's this all about?" appearing slightly put-off.

You hear a response in a slightly sing-song voice from the back of the house. "In the kitchen!" Those who've been here before know the hallway leads to the dining room, and just beyond that is the kitchen.

Female Tiefling Witch 5/Winter Witch 5 (HP 70/70 | AC:16 | T:12 | FF:14 | CMB: +5 | CMD:17 | Fort:+5 | Ref:+5 | Will:+7/+9 vs Illus | Init:+2 | Perc: +10 (See in Darkness) | Speed 30)

Her Diplomacy is crap, but she does have a bonus when it comes to dealing with nobles and their servants, fwiw.

Sonechka smiles her eerie smile at the woman in the sitting room. "Your man graciously invited us in, madam. He no doubt recognized the king," she gestures at Green, "and realized that any rudeness would be a dreadful affront to the people of (huh. does the kingdom have a name? if not, she'll just say 'to him.')."

She turns to look in the direction of the other voice and glances at Green and the others. "Is that him?" Asking if that was Kinsilvi's voice.

Hyassus nods with a grunt.

The Kingdom has no name yet... only the capital.

Downtime Gnome Sorceror (draconic) 5

Furiel follows along.
"We will visit the master. A great honor from the Swordlords."

Hyassus gets out a couple words before focusing on jockeying through your group to keep near the front - without having to shove.
"Visitors, Sire."
You pass the older woman's sitting area and steps on your left, and the doorway to the den on the opposite side, then make your way through the dining room which opens out to the right. You smell the lingering scent of bacon, but also a tang of alcohol - the particular nip at your nostrils of a non-potable alcohol.

You hear Kinsilvi's voice again. "Just cleaning up!"
The doorway on the far side of the dining room is where the farmhouse is solid stone - older stone blocks. Either the farmhouse was made as an addition, or this was built from the stones of an older structure.

Female Tiefling Witch 5/Winter Witch 5 (HP 70/70 | AC:16 | T:12 | FF:14 | CMB: +5 | CMD:17 | Fort:+5 | Ref:+5 | Will:+7/+9 vs Illus | Init:+2 | Perc: +10 (See in Darkness) | Speed 30)

Sonechka whispers to her pet bird and the inky black raven flies ahead of the group with orders to stay out of reach and observe what Kinsilvi is doing. She smiles her pointed smile at Hyassus and raises her voice to respond to the voice. "You needn't bother. We have had a long ride and I'm sure we could do with some breakfast if you have any to share."

You hear a quick reactive sound from Kinsilvi as Glaza flies into the kitchen. "Sorry... many mouths to feed you know."
He then appears - toweling his hands with an apron, stepping up to the kitchen entrance with his shirt sleeves pushed to his elbows. While in the doorway, he scans the group while blocking full view of the kitchen... his expression leans toward the "Lets have it..." of a habitually disappointed father.

"What's this about Ser Ambrosi?"

They were looking for a confrontation, still Norton could not open up without some manners, weren't they trying to civilize these land? So civilizided manners were called for.
"My sincere apologies, master Kinsilvi, for intruding so abruptly in your house, but a matter of urgent concern has called us here."
"You met Furiel and Green" he gesture towards his companions introducing the party before diving into the matters at hand "The other two are lady Sonenchka and Master Dolgrym."

Male Human (Ulfen) Skald Lvl 1 HP 10/10 | AC:16 | T:14 | FF:13 | CMB: +5 | CMD:15 | Fort:+2| Ref:+4 | Will:+1| Init:+2 | Perc: +3 | Speed 30 | Raging song 6/6 |

The Green Man decides to play up on the normal conceptions of him as being either big and strong, but dumb, or a gentle but naïve giant.
So instead of speaking, he simply stands a little to the side, smiling amiably.
Of course, as he does so, his keen eyes watches Kinsilvi, trying to see if he is seeing through the ruse.

"Urgent matter? Is that so?"
"Yes, of course... sirs." He acknowledges Green and Furiel with a pair of slight bows.
He bows a little deeper to those he'd not yet met. "Master Dolgrym... Lady Sonechka."
There is a slight twitch in his eye, and then corner of his mouth as he looks over her feathered garb and more exotic features.

His tone is still friendly, but (having had an adversarial relationship with the Magpies in the past) his likely assumptions regarding Sonechka takes some vim out of his "pillar of the community" demeanor.
"So... lets have it... how may I be of assistance to you?"

Dolgrym nods respectfully, not daring to interrupt his King as he explains the situation in front of the others.

Sonechka takes a few steps closer to Kinsilvi and the kitchen he clearly does not want them to enter. She gestures at the doorway, expression concerned. "I'm sorry, my bird got loose. Silly thing doesn't know he could get hurt flying around inside. Did he fly in there? Don't let me interrupt, go ahead." Her tone isn't her usual sly insinuating one, but rather that of a concerned parent. The pale skinned woman gestures at Norton, still looking at the kitchen doorway with concern in her eyes.

Male hp: 45/45; AC:17/14-ff16/14-tch10; F+7, R+4, W+5; Initiative 0, Perception +5

"We know you hold a few Kobolds labourers, and I'm afraid a despicable rumour is spreading around." First Norton aims at the core, hoping to catch Kinsilvi off guard "People at Stagfall are talking about rabid kobolds caged, many are very worried that disease might spread." then tries to confound the listener with various angles of the same matter.
"On one side we have very concerned people that are urging us to investigate the matter, and, as leaders, we cannot neglect these pressing requests. I am also sad to tell some are starting to speak quite ill of you my friend, so we came here to put an end to those unfounded gossip, Also because, with our alliance with the MikMek clan, we cannot risk word of ill or mistreated kobold reach the tribe."
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23

Downtime Gnome Sorceror (draconic) 5

"And, you have yet to personally and officially submit your claim at Stagfall to the lands you desire. A reqirement. We can straighten this all out at the Capitol."

Kinsilvi does not yield to Sonechka... until Norton utters the word "disease". At that moment, she is able to easily slip past without impediment.

Sonechka:
By the sink, there is a wooden caddy of vials and beakers, and a few books. Two are open.. one mainly text, the other a sketchbook of currently open to globular amorphous images.

Two female kobolds are washing and drying the beakers... both stop when you enter, and both react upon hearing the name MikMek - one grips the shoulder of the other whose eyes go wide.

"I understand completely, Ser Ambrosi, and I appreciate the courtesy of coming personally. Come... you may ask the kobolds yourselves how they feel about my treatment of their clan..." He shakes his head mournfully, and steps into the kitchen. "They were sentenced to die by their own kind, you know."

"Boolna? Our young lords here wish to see how your kin are treated here. If you would show them around."

To Furiel he responds "I will be certain to oblige your request as soon as humanly possible.", as he casually shuts a pair of books on the countertop. He then repeats "Boolna?" while turning to one of two kobolds who'd been washing beakers and vials in the big farmhouse sink.
The female kobold snaps out of her daze, and nods. "Yes Master Kinsilvi." She steps up and bows.

Norton:
You did catch him off-guard, and it took him a little while to recover. He seems slightly concerned, and having a difficult time reading you.

Dolgrym was surprised someone would trust a bunch of kobolds in the kitchen. "Are you sure they can be trusted around your vials, beakers, and breakable items? Maybe they'd be better with a broom or a mop bucket?"

Kinsilvi nods - seemingly in agreement..."Boolna and her sister are a rare breed. Daughters of a chieftain."

Boolna corrects him "War leader. Our father huako chee svarok... a leader of warriors."
Draconic: lived and died (in battle)

Kinsilvi clears his throat, "As you see... a rare breed." apparently referring to having been corrected by a kobold servant.

Spoiler:
Before Kinsilvi returns to the kitchen, Sonechka smiles her wolf-like smile at the kobolds and holds up a finger to indicate they should remain silent. She quickly looks over the books and other equipment to determine their purpose.

Rolling all the skills she has I think might be relevant. Let me know if I missed anything.

It WOULD be rather satisfying to take a step forward and pulp the old mans head with my bare hands...
But I suspect that would set a bad precedence?
...
Politics can be remarkably hard.

Sonechka:
With the allegations of some dark doings regarding disease on the mind, you are able to quickly ascertain what you are looking at. There are sketches of surface lesions and rashes with extremely precise coloring... each is marked with "subject" and a number... some are crossed out, a couple are circled, most have illegible chicken-scratch notes.
You see small papers used as bookmarks. The one sitting in the crook of the currently open pages is a colored image with a label "Stoneback Kobold Pattern"

You are vaguely familiar with Stoneback Kobolds. Though they are not one of the more dominant kobold bloodlines, they are not uncommon. They are slightly ashen in color, and often have small bony growths along their shoulders and/or back - as sketched in the bookmark image.

You can't determine what the vials and beakers had contained, but there are two vials per beaker, two types of vial - equal in number, and all six beakers are identical. All vials are marked with only one "fill-level" line - as opposed to many marks for units of measurement.

It is likely the contents of the two vials must be mixed a short period of time before reaching the destination (imbiber or next step of a process)... possibly a routine dosage to several subjects.

Downtime Gnome Sorceror (draconic) 5

Furiel smiles:
"Gather the master's things, he has been invited to the capital."

Kinsilvi's face brightens for a brief moment as he looks to Furiel, but he quickly puts it together. "Wh- why no... " He shakes his head. "You don't understand... why send our boys to die in battle, when creation offers other tools with which to wage war. Bah! This is just the foolish dullardry I'd anticipated. Only one who does not understand disease fears using it as a weapon.... What these kobolds suffer is nothing with the knowledge they will bring down the clans who'd - Tell them Boolna!"

Boolna the kobold looks confused... she does not speak or act.

The Green Man doesn't act just yet, but now that there is proof, an open admission of guilt...or rather an admission of responsibility (since Kinsilvi clearly show no guilt or consider his actions wrong), The Green Man allows the show of placid benevolence to slip from his face.
Instead he tenses up, because he expects combat to come soon, and likely he will have to deal with Kinsilvis brute.

"So you admit your crime then?"

Downtime Gnome Sorceror (draconic) 5

With a straight face Furiel says:
"This may affect your claim. Get your things, and pack for a long trip."

Female Tiefling Witch 5/Winter Witch 5 (HP 70/70 | AC:16 | T:12 | FF:14 | CMB: +5 | CMD:17 | Fort:+5 | Ref:+5 | Will:+7/+9 vs Illus | Init:+2 | Perc: +10 (See in Darkness) | Speed 30)

From the other room, Sonechka replies to Furiel's comment. "I doubt Lord Kinsilvi would pack his own bags, my lord. I can advise his servants on the appropriate items to include in his baggage." Why give the man an opportunity to slip dangerous items into his things, after all?

Kinsilvi slams his fist onto the counter - leaving it clenched there as if nailing himself to the spot. "This is not happening. I'll not bow to the naive moralities of self-anointed kings.... Is this the freckled nag upon which civilization comes riding? Bah! Injustice! Classless degenerate fools, bestial thugs, and abominations! I'll not bow now, I'll not bow ever!"

He raises a finger in warning, lowers his chin and shakes his head... "I have allies, mind you... powerful allies. Allies who'll not stand idly by. You'll come to rue this day. You'll see. You... all of you... you are all just... flesh... and bone. Such flimsy things wither and snap upon my allies' slightest whims."

The old woman Janille stands in the doorway... Hyassus behind. They make no move toward interfering. In fact, Janille cringes with each angry word from Kinsilvi, then covers her face and shudders as he unhinges. Hyassus pats her shoulder.

Dolgrym's fingers wiggle ever so slightly as he prepares to pull his axe, upon the slightest provocation. "It's your last warning. Come with us. Now."

Downtime Gnome Sorceror (draconic) 5

Furiel shakes his head:
"You are not improving your case here. I would try to be more temperate."

Furiel summons in a few soldiers.

"Kinsilvi is coming involuntarily."

Male Human (Ulfen) Skald Lvl 1 HP 10/10 | AC:16 | T:14 | FF:13 | CMB: +5 | CMD:15 | Fort:+2| Ref:+4 | Will:+1| Init:+2 | Perc: +3 | Speed 30 | Raging song 6/6 |

The Green Man finds the situation escalating, but at the same time he is confident that this will end soon.
"You seem to forget that you are also "just" a creature of flesh and bone old man, and as such, you too can be broken."
Then he smiles his most wide and insincere smile.
"But of course, none of us wants that now do we?"

Kinsilvi grabs a book near at hand, and throws it across the room... letting out the last of his tantrum.
He then takes a couple breaths, straightens his errant locks, and smooths his jacket.... "No... certainly not. I will comply." Though he does glower at Hyassus as he passes, Kinsilvi goes willingly to the front porch where Kesten and his two men intercept him.

NPC Human Fighter - General

"Shall we take him back straightaway?"

All go back to Stagfall now?
Send him with Kesten and two guards and remain to "tidy up" here?
Have Kesten and guards wait while you deal with things here then all back?

With old man Kinsilvi in custody, The Green Man decides to ply his trade as a healer and examine the kobold carriers.
Since it is unlikely that Kinsilvi would have made Boolna a carrier and kept her so close at hand, he will save her for last.

"I say we take him back now. No time to waste. If he does have powerful allies, we don't want to give them time to muster."

Downtime Gnome Sorceror (draconic) 5

"We will use this time to search for anything incriminating."

Furiel turns to Kesten. "Search everything, but allow Boolna to see to the kobolds herself with Green. We will also scan Kinsilvi for magical auras and go back with you after the place is thoroughly searched for any records or proof of treachery. The transport of a highly dangerous prisoner will not be left to any chance. We can all return together to reduce any risk."

Furiel looks around and consults with the others, not allowing his conversation to fall on other ears. He primarily addresses Norton "We may wish to grant the kobolds temporary dominion over this estate. It will grow our stock with the tribes immensely."

Female Tiefling Witch 5/Winter Witch 5 (HP 70/70 | AC:16 | T:12 | FF:14 | CMB: +5 | CMD:17 | Fort:+5 | Ref:+5 | Will:+7/+9 vs Illus | Init:+2 | Perc: +10 (See in Darkness) | Speed 30)

Sonechka shakes her head at Furiel's orders. "The soldiers may be in danger from substances present here. It would be safer for them, if slower for us, for us to conduct the search ourselves." She nods in Kinsilvi's direction. "He should be placed in a cell without access to his equipment as soon as possible."

Downtime Gnome Sorceror (draconic) 5

"You do not bring soldiers on their first operation and not use them. They are not searching the kobold quarters at all, they should be fine. We can watch Kinsilvi until we get him back, never throw someone in a cell they built themselves."

Female Tiefling Witch 5/Winter Witch 5 (HP 70/70 | AC:16 | T:12 | FF:14 | CMB: +5 | CMD:17 | Fort:+5 | Ref:+5 | Will:+7/+9 vs Illus | Init:+2 | Perc: +10 (See in Darkness) | Speed 30)

Sonechka sighs. "Kinsilvi certainly has dangerous materials in this house, completely unrelated to kobolds. If you think your soldiers can recognize powdered anthrax or a vial of cyanide gas, please feel free to have them search the manor. If your concern is getting use out of your soldiers, have them locate the entrances and exits to this building and ensure no one enters or leaves. Or they could provide a strong escort for Kinsilvi to his cell. It would be safer for them and almost certainly more fruitful to let those of us who are more familiar with such things to sweep the premises."

While Furiel and Sonechka discuss how to handle the current situation, Boolna steps closer to Green "I remember you. I warn you. Many of the Whiptail Clan chose this. Many will not like time of revenge against other of Seven Bloods Clans taken from them."

Male Human (Ulfen) Skald Lvl 1 HP 10/10 | AC:16 | T:14 | FF:13 | CMB: +5 | CMD:15 | Fort:+2| Ref:+4 | Will:+1| Init:+2 | Perc: +3 | Speed 30 | Raging song 6/6 |

The Green Man chuckles a little at that.
"Boolna, if I worried about the enemies my actions MIGHT make me, I would never get anything done."
The Grin becomes even wider, but also a little less kind, as just a glimmer of red appears in the normally kind and placidly green eyes.
"And anyone who makes an enemy of me will not have a chance to regret that bit of foolishness.
I'm an avatar of the land and the spirits, I hear natures voice and the call of battle, the very pulse of life itself.
The burden is heavy, but if I can bear it, I will be thrice blessed, with the power to heal any wound, the might to overcome any enemy, and the gift of the fisher king..."

"And if they have any problems after that, you just tell them to take it up with me, and we shall see who is truly blessed.
But come, tell me more, fill me in on what you know as I work, I need to know the land and it's people, and what better way is there to learn but to listen.
There are many a good king who could have been a Great king if they had only listened..."

Boolna nods a few times. "Come. I take you to those will accept first. Will be better for learning disease, yes? The hutch in back."

Before leading Green out, she lifts the edge of one of the rugs revealing an old oak trap door. She looks to Furiel and the others of the group.
"Stairs to his lab, and the cannery."
