Ta'de-win utters a few words and gestures to the jackal-type animals to the south. Thick spiraling foliage bursts out of the ground around them...the furthest one seems nearly swallowed whole.
Alice and Bregor appear to be handling the horses; bringing them to a controlled stop before hitting the wagon in front, or veering in the unstable shoulder.
Rogar unsheathes his sword, vaults over the side, seeing only his target.

Norton watches his new allies assault with the coordination of a band of goblins. He and Murak charge the closest. In a coordinated movement Murak dekes to the left and Norton swings.. his sword connects with more force than needed, and Murak bites into its scruff - snapping the neck of the already dead canine. Norton quickly surveys the battle; he sees the druid advance and cast another lightning strike, Alice approaching to reinforce the flank... he then catches sight of the swordlord charging and swinging madly.

Ta'de-win urges Heart of Wind closer, attempting to shield the wagons. She finishes her casting and another wet blast of wind and lightning barely misses the canine in front of her. ooc for everybody:

Putting conversations in different spoilers, but they are not private, if other characters are near by they can easily hear and participate. There are a bunch of question for each, just giving hooks for casual conversation, feel free no to answer as well as ask back.

@Ta'de-win:

Ta'de-win, am I pronouncing the name right?
You strike me as a woman used to the wild, would you mind to help me scout ahead when needed, to reduce the risk of unrequested surprises?
Have you ever been in the Greenbelt?

@Rogar:

"Master Rogar, I beg your pardon if I sound ill-mannered, but I was wondering about the unforeseen withdrawal of Sir Ogden, and this voices about a demon woman. The parcel you brought the Mayor seemed me somewhat related. Any insight you might be incline to share on the matter?
Quite a beautiful blade you have Sir, you must surely be proud to carry it."

@Alice:

"Madam is everything all right with the horses? I couldn't but notice your accent Numeria? or maybe Ustalav?
You said you were a student, master..."
Norton frowns as he could not remember the name"What did you study?
I must say, miss Morell, I'm impressed by your fighting skils, I'm happy we are on the same side here."

@Sorcerer:

"Sorcerer, that's a name that says a lot saying nothing at the same moment. Of all the lot of us you strike me as the shyest, just remember we are on the same boat, or wagon, here, so don't be too shy to ask for anything"

@Bregor:

"I beg your pardon sir, I think we didn't introduce one each other properly and I didn't get the name of yours. I'm Norton. I see your leg is giving you trouble, if there is anything I can do to make your journey easy don't hesitate to inform me.
The lord Mayor called you the green man, I was wondering what that means"

Male Human (taldan) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 03

Rogar eyes Norton with an hint of suspect but then shrugs and answers casually:"Well, friend, believe me when I say we are way better off without Ogden and his lackeys ordering everyone around. He's known as an honorless bully, always looking for his own best interest... not the kind of man I'll entrust an expedition as important as this. As for his witdrawal your guess is as good as mine, but I would not put to much faith in the claims he was defeated by a demon woman... more likely he was just defeated by a woman and invented the demon part not to completely lose face. And yes, you have it right: I'm proud to wield my blade and I expect to be prouder soon!"

The Green Man chuckles and gives Norton a toothy grin.
"Why, I doubt it comes from anything but the obvious, green is very much my colour if you haven't noticed.
Or perhaps it came from the fact that I spent most of my time in the wild, looking for herbs to cure the common ills of the people of this land.
Either way, that was the name most people came to call me, when they did not refer to me as bastard, half orc or monster of course."

As the mention of his leg, The Green Man shrugs a little.
"It is nothing, an old wound that never healed properly and is something I'm used to by now.
We live with hardship, and grow stronger for it, or we die.
Such is nature’s way."

"As for my name, I once had a given name and a family name, but those I buried with the man I was, these days, The Green Man is what people call me, and it is what I have come to think of myself as."

"...but if you find it difficult, just call me "Green" or some such, it works well enough."
The last is said with more than a little humour bubbling underneath the surface.

Spoiler:

The horses seem fine as far as I can tell, Smedley seems to have them well trained, but I never really handled horses before.
I see you have a way with horses yourself. Some of my companions at the temple I lived in fought similar to the way you fight. Our master has a knack for seeing potential in others and decided I should learn how to master my inner ki....Though that is something that takes a lot of practice and discipline... Alice kinda looks bothered for a moment but quickly changes the subject.

As for your other question. Master Phu taught me combat, inner strength, and how to achieve the pinnacle of my potential. I am still learning though, as I am merely a student. Hence my reason for being here. I have learned all I can at Master Phu's Temple, now I must learn on my own. Once I have done that I can return to Phu and help teach others or take my own path to do what I deem is right for me.

Alice will resume her task of taking the reigns of Smedley's cart after her brief conversation with Norton.

"I really hope so master Rogar. Demons and the likes are never a god omen."
"About our mandate, what do you think is waiting for us in the wild?"

Bregor:

"So Green it is. Let's hope this enterprise makes us stronger then." Norton smiles.

Ta'de-win:

"Are we already a pack in your judgement madam? I hope you're right. Concerning challenges, those which come from within are the ones I am always more worried about."

Alice:

"Yes, I like horses very much indeed, and they like me too. Been around them all my life. My father had well furnished stables. I think I had learnt riding before I could walk."

"Every subject we want to master ask us lot of practice and sacrifices. About being a student, aren't we students till the day we finally close our eyes? My preceptor, master Godil used to say -Never give into the temptation of believing you already learnt everything-"

The sun goes down and the three-quarter moon starts to appear through the breaking clouds. The world turns shades of dark and faded blue in the dim moonlight.... The conversation comes and goes... most of the time, the rhythmic clopping of the horses - and the grinds and chirps of the wagon wheels are the only sounds that come from the group.
There is little in the way of sounds of wildlife, not understandably so, it has not been long since the snows have melted. The ground is still hard... in fact is seems harder here than further north.

Just as Smedley said...a couple hours ofter nightfall, you see a faint warm light leaking out from what appears to be a wooden fort up ahead. You soon see it more clearly as you approach - there is little to block your view. There are very few trees around but as you come nearer you see the gentle slope of the ground to the south of the road; a view of a dark mass of forest is visible in the moonlight, a few miles from where you are. Wisps of fog cling to the treeline like cobwebs of an abandoned home.
The road you are on, South Rostland Road, appears to make a hard right angle up ahead... forming a "V" pointing directly south, with Oleg's Trading Post nested at the bottom.
Smedley simply says,"Oleg's...." as you pull closer.

"Rustic, and it looks defensible enough, something that is no doubt important in this wild land, where not all predators walk on four or more legs."

"Well looks like we will be there soon enough. No offense to the horses, but I for one would like to sit on something a bit more stationary."

Chuckling a little at Alice’s comment, The Green Man grins at her.
"Stationary you can expect to find, but do not look for more comfort, or you are likely to be disappointed.
The most comfortable in a place such as that would be to sit on a cat, not an experience I recommend for someone with less thick skin than myself."

Male Human (taldan) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 03

Rogar yahwns as the slowing rythm of the caravan awakes him from a nap:"So... that's Oleg's Trading Post...". The Taldan pauses as if searching for words, then he adds in an emphatic tone:"Look at it well. It may not seem much now, but it will be the stepping stone on which we'll build our glory!"

As you pass the southeast corner of the fort you see the open gate on the south wall... A figure in a simple looking dress and hair up in a bandana holds an unhooded lantern just outside waving. She calls out "Smedley? to which Smedley answers "ayep"
The lantern casts enough light to get a fair view of the south face of what you can see now is a wooden palisade... roughly 10 or 12 feet high, and watchtowers on each corner another ten feet or so higher. Just inside on the left is a stable, you see three more small structures inside... nothing else immediately recognizable.
A barrel-chested man with light balding hair and trim beard pulls a steaming bucket from a spit over a firepit centered between a building to the immediate right and a larger one directly north. A ladder leans up against the structure to the immediate right, and the man carries the steaming bucket up the ladder, barely glancing at you.
"Come on in and get unloaded... we'll get you fed while we wait for the others. I'm Svetlana" as you approach. She turns to the man climbing the ladder "Oleg ... can't that wait?"

rough map will work on clearer one

Oleg mutters something unintelligible and continues his work - which appears to be patching an area of the southeast building's roof.
