I also keep a stat block sheet open in photoshop for all the characters as a PSD (photoshop file) that has their images as copied layers that I can drag onto the map. Working on doing he same for the "monsters"

Just forgot to change it (Originally was going to do 12 con, but the -2 racial constitution makes it rough to do so!). I use herolab, so I don't look at it often. Thanks for pointing it out!

Thanks Bloodgargler. Photoshop, huh? Well that works. Thanks.

threw up a map so you can get an idea of layout. I'll work on one a cleaner one with index tomorrow. Feel free to chat around the fire and engage NPCs. We'll let this evening play out for a while.

good stuff all .. you've got me into it... waiting to post is so hard. (I'm on the computer all day for school stuff and "work" anyway... too easy to check in all the time.)

Male Human (taldan) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 03

You are doing a very impressive work. This is the 3rd game I'm playing in currently, and it's clearly the best one in terms of commitment and description. And the other two aren't bad at all!

Great work, really!

Spoiler:

I have a request. I envision Alice as a feral kind of fighter. Hence using claws instead of flurrying in the first combat with the canines. I was going to take Feral Combat Training for claws eventually to further build on that idea.
Anyway thinking about my character and the archetype I chose, I don't think Qingqong monk makes much sense. I never have played a monk so I never really went through and checked out all the archetypes. After reading a little bit I think the Master of Many styles archetype would compliment her better. I am thinking of using Panther, Snake, and eventually Boar styles (With Feral Combat Training of course). Since combat has been limited, and it's still early I figure now would be the time to ask if I could change. If you don't want to go down that road I understand and will still enjoy the game and my character. I just figured it wouldn't hurt to ask since it is still very early in the game. Don't worry I won't ask this in the future, as I know as a DM it can be bothersome to always have people petitioning for change.
Thanks!
Also sorry I haven't been posting much, I have been quite busy the last few days. I should have more time now though.

Alice:
Yea sure that's fine .. now is the time. And I agree that it seems like a better fit for a feral fighting style. (and if you've never played monk I would stay away from crane .. too situational and very feat intensive for a good build)

Spoiler:
I changed Dodge to Snake Style for my monk feat, and took Combat Reflexes as my 1st level feat. Now I can make 3 AOO's a round while flatfooted. I'll wait until next level to put points into sense motive. Nothing I really wanna give up for first level skills, and I don't want to change too much. Thanks!

Alice:
if you plan on using the sense motive check check for AC against an attack soon.. first I want to make sure you understand this (bolded what my face to face players were unaware of)

Using an immediate action on your turn is the same as using a swift action and counts as your swift action for that turn. You cannot use another immediate action or a swift action until after your next turn if you have used an immediate action when it is not currently your turn (effectively, using an immediate action before your turn is equivalent to using your swift action for the coming turn). You also cannot use an immediate action if you are flat-footed.

and we might have to adjust how I post attacks on you a bit (like not post damage on hits against you until you've had a chance to decide whether to use "sense motive dodge")...we can let it play out as normal and see what needs to be adjusted if anything.

Spoiler:

I have no ranks in Sense Motive this leve, so it won't be an issue yet.
Just to clarify.

I can use an immediate action to use a sense motive check for my AC during an opponents attack. My next turn I don't get a swift action, but I could use snake style again the next time I was attacked, using up the swift action from the next turn.

Basically I could keep using it, but I wouldn't get swift actions on my actual turn until I didn't use it one round right?

@ Alice - correct

I'm so sorry for disappearing. I got a time out from the site after I did something very stupid right before Christmas. What happened while I was gone?

Hey! Hi there!

we missed you :)

as for the story: after accepting the charter for exploration of the area we headed for this Oleg's trading post along with this merchant.
We had a brief encounter with some wild dogs/wolfs but we managed ourself. We got at Oleg's after dark, had meal and slept.
Chatting with Oleg and his wife, Svetlana, we found that bandits are racketeering Oleg. Next payiment is due tomorrow.
Now is morning and we just discussed the plan.

you are recovering in the main house ... read up and recuperate when you are ready to post.. group is at a planning stage at the moment.
edit: and yes glad to have you back!

Sorcerer:
If you care to wait and sleep through planning .. the encounter will probably start tomorrow (we seem close to having plan down) and you could wake just in time for it... up to you.

That works for me. Thank you.

Male Human (taldan) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 03

I'm getting a bit worried about sorcerer...

plenty of time .. I'm off for 3 or 4 hours. I'll check back in then.

Female Half-Elf Sorcerer (Undead bloodline) 1

I'm pulling out. There just isn't the time.

okie doke, no prob thanks for letting me know.

DM Bloodgargler:
Do you think we should get a new player to cover our mystical side? When it comes to hand to hand fighting we are pretty formidable and we should have good healing considering we have 2 divine caster types (although one will multiclass barbarian IIRC), but we don't have a thief nor a mage/sorceror. It could work anyway but we could use more diversity imo

Up to you guys ... what would you all prefer? I could do a call for a first in best dressed for whatever role you want. XP is better with 5 but you might be better off with another.

Male hp: 45/45; AC:17/14-ff16/14-tch10; F+7, R+4, W+5; Initiative 0, Perception +5

For me is fine either way. Don't know if a sorcerer or rouge are a must in this AP. And XPs usually are bound to the different chapters of the AP, so no problem.

About combat. I get confused about whose turn is it.

could we put something like
Round # (Turn/AoO/etc.)
in our posts
And when the turn is finished then a post from the DM with
Round # start

Please?

OK sure .. I'll work on a clarity regard rounds and turns on my part. I'll poke around other groups for a while and try to develop a standard format for myself. Hopefully if I'm more clear, it will help everyone else post more clearly.

I don't think we actually have anyone trained in Spellcraft at all at present, so I'd lean towards a Wizard/Sorcerer/Summoner/Bard myself. In fact a Bard could be real useful in alot of way.

Male hp: 45/45; AC:17/14-ff16/14-tch10; F+7, R+4, W+5; Initiative 0, Perception +5

As I said during recruitment I'm going for a couple of levels of bard. Norton is a cavalier that will lean more on diplomacy than combat.

Ah, yea, that's right. Battle herald if I recall, correct?

Male hp: 45/45; AC:17/14-ff16/14-tch10; F+7, R+4, W+5; Initiative 0, Perception +5

Yeah, hopefully.

Male Human (taldan) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 03

Well, in my experience mages and sorcerers become very important once the game levels up. But we can manage anyway probably. Rogues are useful in a lot of ways but unless the cronicle is full of traps they are not usually mandatory. Then if someone thinks to level up as an arcane caster that would certainly help. At the moment if I recall correctly we have:

-Rogar (melee): going for full Warrior levels OR adding some duellist levels later on (unlikely btw)

-Alice (melee): Going for full Monk build IIRC

-Norton (melee): Going for Cavalier/Bard then Battle Herald

-Ta'de-win (Divine caster): Druid thinking of multiclassing as an arcane caster.

-Green (Divine caster): Going for Oracle/Barbarian then Rage Prophet.

One thing I want to say is the MOST important thing is we are happy with our characters. Having a well developed group is certainly important but having fun with our roleplay is much more important, so don't change the way you'll develope your character just because it will make for a better choice in terms of group performance. If we think we can do without arcane casters or rougue types I certainly endorse that decision, we'll just have to make up for that with better play.

Male hp: 45/45; AC:17/14-ff16/14-tch10; F+7, R+4, W+5; Initiative 0, Perception +5

During recruitment there were other interested in the campaign, we can just revive that tread for an arcaner.

OK on it

thread is here if you care to weigh in.

I like Chainmail's Gnome sorcerer! Not that a monk would be biased towards an arcane buffer...lol.

Furiel will appear as soon as I get a cool picture. I noticed Mage Armor is my level 3 bonus spell for bloodline. So unless swapping and forgetting is allowed, I may have to wait. I wouldn't tie up two slots for it as much I like it. Enlarge person on the way though.

Downtime Gnome Sorceror (draconic) 5

Furiel here. I haven't picked traits yet. How many traits? I also am like a vampire--I can't enter the gameplay thread unless invited.

two traits .. can pick from kingmaker player guide if you wish ... you mentioned pioneer... up to you. I will "write you in" about 12 hours from now if you are ready.

Welcome on board Furiel!

working out your entrance now Furiel .. I'll post in about an hour

can head out whenever you like ... have faith in your druid

A few words about exploration

Your current main objective is to explore and map out the area of your charter, in preparation for colonization. You can get sidetracked from that main objective whenever you wish.

Passing through a hex will take 3 to 12 hours depending on group speed and terrain. This quite often will give you an idea of the dominant terrain, you may have encounters, obvious landmarks could be found.

Exploring a hex will take 1 to 5 days depending on group speed and terrain. You will have enough info to flesh out terrain in map, less obvious landmarks found, and good chance to find "hidden things"

your trip to the bandit camp counts as passing through

charter map

Male Human (taldan) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 03

So we go south from Oleg's and then south again, right?
I think we will just follow the bandits indications taking Survival checks (or any other checks you deem appropriate) when we need to.
Me, furiel, Norton and Green are ready in the saddle, Ta'de-win and Alice need to post and tell us what they wish to do then we may start hunting down the bandits.

P.S.

I noticed you don't give us xp. It means you are the one keeping track, right? ;)

Ta'de-win wants to hurry after the bandits as fast as possible. When discussing travel plans, she'd offer to ride ahead of the group a ways to scout out for trouble and signs of danger.

yep ... if you were fast track, you would have leveled. Trying to decide if I should go straight medium track, or somewhere in between medium and fast. Usually in the adv paths I can wing it, but kingmaker is too non-linear to rely on the 'level at predetermined points in campaign' thing.
