I swore I posted already...
Shaking off the pain, Truk lumbers after the snakewoman and grabs for her again.
Grapple: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
DM Bloodgargler |
Yarzoth starts intoning... one hand briefly gestures over the other covered in her own blood. She reaches up to the open mouth of the statue... "Ummpf" The wind is knocked out of her as Truk wraps her up.
Her eyes go wide, her neck stretches, and her mouth opens.. wide.
Her fangs bury into Truk's shoulder. You hear a faint "Gloomp gloomp" - like a cat about to hurl... as her venom floods the wound.
Fleek tears at her side, but she does not react whatsoever.
The discombobulating reverberation from her arcane shout fades.
bite vs Truk: 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 14 - 2 = 28
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Feeling the fangs dig into the meat of his shoulder and pump poison into him, Truk howls in pain.

Sucking in a breath, the big orc gives a little slack and looks down.
"You did it" he grunts. "I think you got her."
Garborn Herwonkir |
Garborn, quite pleased with the death of the foe conveniently "forgets" to call off Fleek right away, so the blood mad little reptilian continues to claw and bite at the body for a few moments longer before being called off.
Iolana Zerengo |
Iolana sheathes her blade after having cleaned it on Yarzoth's robes.
The girl is smiling in satisfaction.
"This is for the Jenivere and her crew, now for us...it is looting time. And, Garborn, please call back your reptilian friend;i don't want it to spoil or break something useful she could have on her by accident."
Detect Magic around the room, starting with Yarzoth's corpse.

After gathering all the items with the help of the party,Iolana begins analizing them quickly, but first she gives a warning.
"All of this room has a faint aura, but the statue over there is overwhelming."
DM Bloodgargler |
While Mugambi and Iolana begin determining the properties of Yarzoth's possessions, the others have time to take a good look around.
Beyond the statue, the chamber breaks open into a long rough-walled and curved area. A constant stream of blood trickles into the pool of water which runs along the center.
There is a large nest of filth - it shares the distinct stench of the amorphic creature killed in the trapped room.
In the chamber itself, the alcoves are filled with carvings - as is the base of the altar underneath the bat-winged statue. In one alcove there is a pile of gear. Several large journals... six of them are on top, and a backpack the size of an ogre's torso.
DM Bloodgargler |
In the ceiling there is a 10' wide circular hole - you can see the faint flicker of indirect torchlight. There is no perceivable way to enter however... the whirlwind of pain-faced souls upon which the bat-winged creature is affixed, completely surrounds it.
One would have to crawl within and up the iron whirlwind... though one would have to be about 4 or 5 inches wide.
Truk'tosh |
"It's nothin'", Truk grunts despite the blood trickling down his brawny torso.
Truk's down 22 hp.
Garborn Herwonkir |
"B...books?"
Garborn approaches the pile of journals slowly with something like apprehension in his eyes.
Carefully he picks up the top book, running his fingers over the covers and the spine.
After a few seconds he hugs it to his scrawny chest and begins to sob softly.
DM Bloodgargler |
The journals each seem to correspond with one of the carvings - in the four alcoves, under the bat-winged statue, and where the chamber opens into the rough-walled area.
At first glance they appear to be sections of the carvings done in detail... much of the writing is in polyglot, but some is in writing you do not understand.
It will take some time and assistance to understand what she was working on.
DM Bloodgargler |
Each book corresponds to one area of carvings (numbered on the map).
Each is a different ancient knowledge... either of how to wield a power or a guide to unlock others.
The first journal Garborn inspects is how to command the elements around the island - to drive nearby ships to its most dangerous shores, and to harass any significant threat with tempestuous storms.
It will take time to get a handle on these concepts... and by the first scan, the other books appear more cryptic.
Each will take some time and some rolls... kn(arcane) and linguistics rolls. (know history and religion will also help) You may use the highest roll as the check, and the others as an aid another.
DM Bloodgargler |
Gatherine turns translucent and fluffy... she passes easily through the coiled iron into the center of the whirlwind, and is able to float up to the chamber above.
North Alcove
The alcove Gatherine faces as she rises is filled with fresh food - laid upon wide-bladed green leaves. Shellfish, fruit, and bread... There is also a bedroll with a small open suitcase filled with clothing sitting on top.
DM Bloodgargler |
The west alcove is filled with strips of hanging meat, cooking supplies, a small ornate chest, and more luggage from the Jenivere.
The south alcove is empty - you can see the carvings clearly on the walls. They are panels of the bat-winged creature attacking various people... later there are many robed figures that follow her, and pray to her shrine.
The east alcove contains another depiction of the bat-winged creature... her head protrudes from the wall with the same open-mouthed expression as in the chamber below.
I will take a perception check for further details... and you cannot manipulate objects in this form... it should last 4-6 minutes if you care to hang out until you can.
DM Bloodgargler |
The potions are Cure Moderate Wounds and Mage Armor... both caster level 5
Just noticed you inspected the statue
You are able to determine that the statue emanates a transmutation aura. Given what you have experienced (from the poison-powered standing stone and seeing Yarzoth about to smear blood on the statues mouth), and what you now see... you believe that smearing blood on the mouth may turn you ethereal.
DM Bloodgargler |
Mugambi finds no sign of hidden passages... When he reaches the room and hovers over the floor within, he turns corporeal once again.
You see a small chamber - shaped like a "+" plus sign - like a 10'x 5' alcove for each direction rather than a regular room.
The North Alcove is filled with fresh food - laid upon wide-bladed green leaves. Shellfish, fruit, and bread... There is also a bedroll with a small open suitcase filled with clothing sitting on top.
The West Alcove is filled with strips of hanging meat, cooking supplies, a small ornate chest, and more luggage from the Jenivere.
