Should probably put one up, I'd rather not have to pull my punches too much. I will be busy then asleep for next 20 hours if anyone cares to post in recruitment to get it going, feel free.
Vladimir Ducheski(Male Varisian Human Fighter (Weapon Master) 1 / Bard 1)
Traveling for work the next few days. I should be able to post, just perhaps on a more limited basis until I get home.
Just an FYI, I'm also traveling for work through Wednesday. I should be able to post everyday, but it will likely be a little less often until I get back on Thursday.
Vladimir Ducheski(Male Varisian Human Fighter (Weapon Master) 1 / Bard 1)
Back from the business trip. Posting should become more frequent again.
Any preferences on how to proceed. Peregrine of course has his preferences, but that's because he generally thinks he's always right, I as a player am flexible. :)
Choices for far.
1) Sneak up on them.
2) Approach in disguise.
3) Set up an ambush and hope they go looking for their guys.
4) Some ingenious plan we haven't thought of yet.
Vladimir Ducheski(Male Varisian Human Fighter (Weapon Master) 1 / Bard 1)
No strong preferences. As Vladimir had said, he will defer to the rest of you who got the information from Happs and Budgie.
The 3 of us are ready to follow someone's plan, while Peregrine tries to come up with one. Sounds like a leader to me.
Personally, I would like to don the cloaks, sneak into range of Peregrines magic and my bow to take out the guys on the watch towers. We could even set up a trap just in case they spot us as there guard drops and run to us.
This would incorporate all 3 options. I think that would prove most useful for us, but what do you all think?
As a player I'm pretty flexible, but I think I prefer sneaking (while disguised) to try and get within range and then hitting them quickly. I'm not sure we have enough knowledge of their patterns and the area to be able to set up an effective ambush.
Another option since Vorik is not sneaky at all is that he could offer to clod through the woods making plenty of noise and providing a distraction while the rest of you slip into range. This might even draw one or two out into the open rather than staying holed up in the camp. I could be disguised as one of the bandits, having too much to drink or just an unwitting traveler.

I would prefer either option 1 or 2...or perhaps a combination of the two.
Hmmm ... I think we have all shown in interest in wearing the cloaks for a disguise and sneaking into range where we can start taking some of them down. So we may as well go with that.
Although I understand the idea of you splitting up Vorik, I don't like the idea of you going by yourself, so maybe if Peregrine went with you. Then Vlamimir and myself could shoot from range, while you fight in close quarters, with Peregrine being your back-up?
Sound good?

Works for me. As soon as we are close enough in and Vorik has engaged the enemy, Vladimir will drop the bow and move in with his sword.
DM Bloodgargler, when I put a post in saying "When I can get a shot off", would you like me to roll the attack and damage in the same post, let you roll it or wait until you say I can see someone and then roll it?
..skullslug not wired right today so don't be shy correcting or calling for clarification on anything.

Re: crits ..either is fine .. players I've had usually roll, but I think doubling is easier/cleaner .. if that is OK with everyone we can do that.
Just playing devil's advocate here...
Certainly doubling is cleaner and easier now, but keep in mind energy additions to weapons like frost or flaming do not get double on a crit and neither does precision damage like sneak attack. So once/if those things become a factor, we will need to be careful about separating the two from standard damage.
Bloodgargler: Not sure how you're handling XP. Will you just tell us when we level up, or should we be tracking? If the later, have you handed any XP out yet? Maybe I missed it.
Thanks to the munificence of DM Bloodgargler, I will be joining your band of burgeoning heroes. It seems that frontline combat is more than well represented already, so I am going to write up a druid. Hopefully I can have a draft posted soon for everyone's scrutiny.
Druid would be great. I am assuming Peregrine will return, plus we have a witch which expressed interest - but haven't heard from in a while. Druid works whether or not others return. Hopefully we will be able to kick it up a notch.
Here we go. Please let me know if anything is amiss. I copy-pasted from another character for formatting, so there might be a remnant I forgot to change.
DM Bloodgargler let me know that the party is very close to leveling, hence my character already at 2nd-level. ;)
Does everything else look alright with my character sheet?
As best as I can tell, everything looks good mechanicall. With Dieter starting off at 2nd Level, I don't know for sure what DM Bloodgargler has you doing for starting gold though.
Just 1 thing I noticed, you have ranks in fly ... but you cannot put a rank into fly unless you have a means of flight. Such as wings or the Fly spell, unfortunately Feather Fall doesn't count as you only glide. Unless BloodGargler wishes to over-rule that.
Has anybody been recording the loot we have been finding and / or claiming?
By the way Dieter, your spellcraft skill dice roll in your profile only says 1d2. How do you get it so you can have the formula written out, without it rolling them?

I'm happy to start a Google Doc if that would work for everyone.

Under my 'Dice' tab? There is no dice roller for profiles, so when you write out the formula, it posts it as-is. I do it for all of my rolls so I can just copy-paste as needed.
Jaestra, right now the list includes everything except the two CLW potions that I know have been used, and the four branded horses which were returned to the farmer.
It should be set so anyone with the link can edit, so if there is something you claimed (or would like to claim), feel free to make a note. Or just let me know here, and I'll mark it off as needed.
Bloodgargler, I'm not sure if I captured the number of horses owned by Kressle's band correctly so if that needs updated or if I missed anything else, just let me know.
