Rohan nods to Liesel, however he still holds his post until Liesel is ready to move on at which point he will allow her to take lead.

"Sounds like a good plan"

Seeing that Liesel is struggling with all the items he reaches into his backpack and pulls out a folded backpack that was in the bottom and tosses towards Liesel.

"I happened to buy two, one finely crafted and the other general backpack so you can use it for now."

Rohan also remembered his Map kit and pulls it out to make note of the building and location.

"This will come in handy should we get lost down here."

After looking over the bodies. Nyym turns back to his friends..

It would seem that our problems have just taken a turn for the worse. Fromw their dress, they are obviously from freedomtown. But it's thier their weapons that concern me more. Thier weapons mark them as enforcers attached to the crime family Sharps Gang who run Freedom Town. That makes me wonder if the half orcs and ShoanI from last night where recruited by them to infiltrate our town. If that is the care, then it would seem Rodrick Riddick has stumbled apon something larger then even he realized.

Nyym looks visably worried at this new direction of though.

We wi need to tread more carefully as we do not know of what other surprises lie ahead of us.

Nyym let's Leisil Marie pack away the confiscated items figuring now is not the time of place to worry of the distribution of loot. Once everyonestarts movind up the stairs, he follows. But as he follows, his thoughts turn back briefly to Kyt who went alone to protect Brinia.

I hope you 2 are safe Kyt Out for it would seem there is more danger then even we realized.

Nyym quickly shakes away his thoughts of Kyt however. He chastises his self for letting his thoughts wonder on things that are not in the here and now. His focus needs to be on what's happening in the current situation. Not what's happening back in town.

Focus Nyym. Don't let ur gaurd down or it will get you hurt worse or even killed. Now is not the time to let your thoughts drift. Definantly not the time to let ur thoughts wonder on a woman you are unable to help regardless.

Nyym focuses back in the task at hand pushing thoughts of Kyt to the back of his mind and moves up the stairs.

With the Erutaki warrior taking point, the group ascended both sets of stairs and began to make their way into the temple proper. However, as she immediately rounded the corner, Liesel-Marie noticed something off about the wall that Rohan had missed while he had been scouting earlier.

Liesel-Marie has discovered a secret door! Everyone gets 50 XP. So, do you continue on down the hallway and through the open door, or do you all use the secret door and discover where that takes you?

The secret door was practically falling off the hinges, making it easy enough to open. Passing through, the group found themselves under the remains of a wooden staircase. To their left, the wall had collapsed, and the floor underneath it had sunk entirely, leaving a dark, gaping hole in the ground surrounded by rubble. Their right, webbing could be seen. Ahead, a single door exited the room.

On the map, you find yourselves in area G. To the right, the room opens up further past the light of Rohan's sunrod. It is now noon.

Nyym quietly cursed himself for ignoring his wounds and mods his agreement to Rohan. Then very quietly whispers to his companions..

Over there above the webs.

With his words he also motions with one of his hands to indicate where the spiders are located.

AFTER showing his companions where the danger is. Nyym drops back and takes a moment to take a cure light wounds potion.

Nyym also as a added precaution, popped a vial of antitoxin as well. Having already been hit with a poisoned weapon. Best not to take chances.

If I am not mistaken that gives me +5 to fort Dave for an hour.

Pulling out 2 more and handing one each to Rohan and Liesel-Marie and wispers..

Antitoxin in case we have anymore incounters with poisoned weapons and creatures.

Again with a not in the direction of the spiders.

The spiders are about 5 feet up. The best approach for combat probably would be ranged, but setting the webs on fire may actually drive them off without actually putting the team in any danger. Your call, though.

Walking alongside the wall, the group was able to avoid the unstable sections of the floor and enter into the rest of the area. Liesel-Marie could make out the hallway on her right that seemingly lead right up to the temple's entrance (with his low-light vision, Nyym can actually confirm this to be so). She could also see that the support walls and pillars that once connected the Plague House to the huge boulder behind it were burnt and had crumbled in the ruined chamber beyond the hallway to the southeast of their position, revealing nearly the entire face of the monolithic stone as well as much of the sky above. Jagged red runes have been painted onto the rock in long, broad strokes that reach from top to bottom.

Using his low-light vision, Nyym can also see a cabinet on the southeast wall and a tall bookcase against the northeastern wall are all that remain of the room’s furnishings. He can also read the writing on the stone. It spells out a name in Orc: "Skreed". Anyone else will need to make a DC 15 Society check.

"I think we should scan this room over, there has to be a reason that he would leave it in this room and not another. Be on your guard, there has been 2 threats thus far and we just entered."

Rohan looking for anything out of the ordinary, hidden doors, rooms, or compartments. Trying to identify what could of caused him to leave his hopeknife here.

The halfling also had with her some slips of paper. Here's that list I promised. As you know, all strangers entering town through the main gate are asked for a name and are given a small wooden chit or token which, by law, they must carry with them at all times and present when asked. The tokens have a number which must be recorded by anyone selling the bearer wares or offering a service. The tokens are changed periodically to avoid forgery or fraud. That way, town officials have some limited means of tracking unfamiliar foreigners inside the walls. A crude system, but the town's isolated and doesn't get so many visitors, making it easy to manage over all. Like myself, you're all considered citizens due to having received hopeknives and, therefore, don't have to carry tokens.

Cham turned to leave. Hope that helps with your investigation.

Checking the names, several stand out (due to being marked by Cham): Rishka, Rom, Urnsul, and Skreed.

As the big man searched the area, he noted 2 things:

* On a support beam near the bookcase, there is something carved on its surface "R + B"

* something is off about the backing of the bookcase, as in the depth of the shelving isn't exact with its place along the wall.

Further examination of the bookcase reveals a false back covering a small cubby. Within the hidden area is an ornate gold coffer studded with numerous gems. A DC 15 Artistry check reveals that it is worth 500 gold sails.

Battle Music: Friedrich Habetler - Let The Battles Begin (Final Fantasy VII Rock Cover)

Unseen by both Nyym and Rohan, a spider lurked in the rafters within its webbing (it took 10 on its Stealth, giving it a 19). It descended slowly on the line it had spun from the spinnerets on its bulbous abdomen so that it was between the bookcase and cabinet. As soon as its spindly legs had touched the floor, the ebon spider lurched forward and quickly attacked the larger of the two men.

Spider Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
bite damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
poison damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1

The arachnid sank its stiletto-like fangs into his forearm, and though he managed to pull away before it could firmly latch on to him, Rohan could sense the venom from its bite flooding through his arm, leaving it more than a little numb.

End of surprise round. Declare your actions for round 1. Rohan takes only 5 damage from the bite, due to his elemental defense, putting him at 12 hit points. His wound threshold is currently Grazed, and he suffers a -1 penalty on all attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks he makes, as well as to his AC until he receives healing to put him into the next best threshold, which would be Healthy. He must make a Fortitude save (with the -1 penalty), or take 1 point of Strength damage on the spider's next turn, though he does get a +5 alchemical bonus to the roll due to having taken the antitoxin earlier. A DC 12 Nature check reveals that this is a variety of the Belkzen redback, whose venom is toxic to humanoids. Anyone who makes that check will also be able to notice that the two smaller ones from earlier, though they hadn't undergone the darkening process, were definitely from its brood. FYI: They were only the size of a large dog, while this one is the size of full grown man.

Rohan rears up as he grabbed the Gold Ornate Coffer from the small cubby, shocked by the reaction of the spider attacking him from behind. He spins around quickly from the immediate attack and after getting his barrings but before returning the favor he rolls 15ft out of the spiders reach hoping to prevent an attack of opportunity and returns the favor sending a chipped rock from the massive stone flying at the spider. Of course pinned by the wall and the spider, either 5ft step would have provoke an attack of opportunity left or right this was his best choice..(kinetic blast fluff).

Liesel-Marie growls deep in her chest when she realizes the movement in the corner of her eye was yet another threat and she's hadn't been prepared. Letting her fury free, she notes Nyym's tactical movement and adjusts her approach so she is opposite the half-drow as she brings her axe over at the spider.

Had to adjust the action to take into account the initiative order.

Round 1:

Though he felt slightly weakened from the redback's venom, Rohan's reflexes took over, allowing him to drop from a standing position to a squat before lowering and and leaning back into a backward roll over his left shoulder. As he came back up, Rohan reached out toward the Freestone with his right hand and performed a throwing motion. In response, a rock materialized and flew toward the spider. However, a flick of its pedipalps sent the projectile veering away from its eyes.

Liesel-Marie rushed past her companion, her bearded axe leading. Rohan could hear the guttural growl that manifested from deep within her, a sign that he had made the correct call in moving. The Erutaki brought down her weapon with explosive power. Not able to skitter away, the spider dipped its abdomen down and brought both of its front legs before its face, catching the axe blade with the claws at the end of its limbs.

Seeing Liesel-Marie stymied by her attack being blocked, Nyym stepped in and lashed out with his lightning blade. The smell of ozone mixed with that of the redback's charred gash along its thin waist as the half-drow's energy weapon connected. Shuddering from the contact, the spider's body bobbed up. Seeing his chance, the half-drow threw himself into a diving roll underneath the spider that put him to its rear before the abdomen could come back down.

The redback focused its attention on Liesel-Marie and lurched at her with its fangs.

Redback bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Critical confirmation roll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
bite damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
poison damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2

Still visibly twitching from Nyym's attack, the redback's fangs didn't dig in as deeply as it would have liked, even though it had struck Liesel-Marie solidly on her shoulder. The Erutaki shrugged off the hit, the cold bloodrage she experienced numbing her to the pain and enabling the warrior to power through the assault on her person regardless of the damage that may have been done.

End of round 1. Declare your actions for round 2. Only Nyym managed to actually hit the spider last round. Liesel-Marie takes only 5 damage from the bite, putting her at 21 hit points. Due to the robust hit point total she possesses while bloodraging, her current wound threshold is still Healthy, and she suffers no penalty on her attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks that she makes nor to her AC. She must make a Fortitude save, or take 2 points of Strength damage on the spider's next turn, though, like Rohan, she does get the +5 alchemical bonus to the roll due to having taken the antitoxin earlier. Liesel-Marie and Nyym currently have the redback flanked, granting them a +2 bonus on attack rolls for the next round.

Rohan rolls to his feet now 15 feet from the large spider. While he did roll 15 feet, he took another 5 feet step back to avoid any further attacks from the spider, who likely had plenty of attacks still to give. Fortunately the roll didn't provoke an attack of opportunity.

Rohan gathered up his strength and summoned another bow from the earth forming yet another longbow, as he drew the sand woven string back a rock arrow materialized on the bow, he released the shot at the large spider.

The spider takes fire damage if it's not immune thanks to her searing defense, right?

That is correct LM. You have to declare it has been activated (an immediate action, which can be done even when it isn't your turn), but the defense works like you say.

Round 2:
Rohan hopped back in two strides, firing from his stone bow an arrow that seperated into four smaller versions of itself and sped toward the redback, who just hunkered down and allowed the projectiles to slam into the cabinet and wall behind it.

But as the spider recovered to a neutral stance, it was greeted by Liesel-Marie's axe, the blade cleaving its head and thorax neatly in two.

And that ends Round 2 and the combat. Good job, Team Ruby. Everyone gets to perform their FF victory dance. In addition, you all receive 150 XP, putting your current experience point total at 2,670 with only 80 XP needed to attain the first tier of level 2. The damage done by Rohan's last shot reveals that some of the boards in the cabinet were rotten and concealed the following items: 2 iron flasks, a beat-up steel scroll case, and 2 glass vials containing a clear fluid. The labels on the iron flasks identify the contents within both as potions of cure light wounds, while the vials are etched with sword-and-sunburst emblem of Iomedae to identify them as holy water. The scroll case contain several rolls of heavy vellum sheets bearing some kind of esoteric writing on them. The use of read magic or a successful DC 21 Spellcraft identifies the writing on the scrolls as spells (2 scrolls of celestial healing, and a scroll of protection from chaos). A DC 20 Artistry check reveals that the scroll case itself is actually worth 5 gold shields.

The hopeknife is a vital clue, as it is proof that Rodrick was murdered rather than committing suicide when combined with what you've already learned. So if you wanted to, you could leave the Plague House, and report your findings to either Halgra or Sara. You could also continue to explore this site to learn more information (after taking the time to deal with any injuries). If you do choose to stay, then there is a door in the southern corner of the room and a pair of double doors on the southwest wall.

Ah, I thought it was automatic while she was raging. She would have activated it upon entering her rage as I think she can maintain it for free - while raging. Is that correct?

Liesel-Marie gives a curt nod as the axe does what she bid it to do, then takes a deep breath and lets the fury drain away as she looks around in the light of the stone archer's sunrod. Fatigued "You both fight well. I am happy to be part of the Team Ruby tribe." She smiles faintly, "I hope to get better control of my weapon and we can end these constant threats more quickly. Were either of you injured?"

Bind wounds with the magic medic bag? Consume CLW? I vote that the boys get their injury penalties erased before we worry about L-M's wound. I believe, out of rage, she is grazed.

I could see where you'd get that impression, but the awakened's elemental defense class ability is only active while bloodraging. LM can activate it while in a bloodrage or even as she enters it as you suggest, but she still has to declare its use. Since entering a bloodrage is a free action, and activating searing flesh is an immediate action, she can do both in the same round.

"Yes I would have to agree, you each fight very well and provide an advantage in combat that I didn't see before. I am glad to be with such company to have my back. Indeed my skills are lacking and I to would like to refine them with further Training.

Rohan lowers his head a little as he speaks as a sign of respect and gratitude towards everyone in the group. Though he kept one hand ready to bring forth another spell should something else be lurking around the corner.

"Best to keep our guard up, but while I believe we have enough evidence to convince Halgra that Rodrick was murdered I think while we are here it would be best to make it safe for the town to possible rebuild or be around without worry.
