DM Bigrin's Second Darkness

Game Master bigrin42

A foul omen looms in the sky over the scoundrel city of Riddleport, an ominous shadow that defies the light. Is it a curse laid millennia ago by forgotten mages? Does it forewarn against the return of some terrible foe? Or does it portend a terrible

I said his wisdom was a 10, not an 8 ;)

Hey, you know Goblins don't really care about money, right? Sure, they like sparklies, but they're not your average hoarders of material wealth. They do hoard stuff they think is valuable, but other peoples tend to disagree... :P

Male Goblin Wizard 5 (Abjurer); Init +2; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +3; AC 13 (touch 13, flatfooted 12; +2 Dex., +1 size); hp 35; Fort +3; Ref +3; Will +5

'Lady in the Room'? From what I've read about Calistria, I didn't think she was a 'lady' anywhere.

HP 37/46, AC 16/12/14, F +4, R +6, W +2, Init +2, Per +8 (+10 traps)

Sorry I haven't posted much - juggling work (which got turned up to "Crazy Go Nuts" today), and moving into a new apartment, I haven't had the time to do much. Probably best to abstract my gambling. Bruendor's betting conservatively - he doesn't have much free cash to wager!

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Anklebiter, she's ALL lady. And that's one of the names they've got for her. She's a bit of a schizophrenic goddess, but what're you going to do?

Bruendor - just let me know how much you are willing to lose...I mean, wager at the tables and I'll abstract it.

F Dwarf Cleric 1

2..17's, ugh

HP 37/46, AC 16/12/14, F +4, R +6, W +2, Init +2, Per +8 (+10 traps)

No more than half my money - if wagers get over 8gp, it's too rich for my blood!

How many golden tickets do we need to head from Avernus into Dis?

For everyone but Calla -

This is the contract you signed when you arrived and registered. It also has the schedule of badges. The only thing that isn't on here, is that you can only buy a badge upgrade with winnings, and you have to win a hand to do it. That keeps the wealthy from simply purchasing their way to the top table.

HP 37/46, AC 16/12/14, F +4, R +6, W +2, Init +2, Per +8 (+10 traps)

So, one gold eye is worth one gp, then. Makes sense.

FYI, I may not be able to post much this weekend, though I'll try to check in Saturday at least. Almost certain I won't be around Sunday.

All right, we are going to freeform this first combat, so let your imaginations flow. The four thugs and the one-eyed woman are near the chest at the center of the room. The man with the widow's peak is near the lav at the side of the room near Calla.

For the first round, I'll wait for anyone before the enemy to post (anklebiter), then do a combat update. After that, everyone posts, then an update. If I haven't gotten a post from someone in 24 hours, I'll DMPC their actions for the round to keep things moving. Sound fair?

F Dwarf Cleric 1

sounds good. Iw as waiting on anklebiter and the thugs, before determining what Belana would do. Considerign she has gambled and drank, heroic action is called for to round out her day of service to her god, he is the heroic drunk after all...

Male Goblin Wizard 5 (Abjurer); Init +2; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +3; AC 13 (touch 13, flatfooted 12; +2 Dex., +1 size); hp 35; Fort +3; Ref +3; Will +5

I've posted, so let 'er rip!

Male Goblin Wizard 5 (Abjurer); Init +2; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +3; AC 13 (touch 13, flatfooted 12; +2 Dex., +1 size); hp 35; Fort +3; Ref +3; Will +5

Spellcraft check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13. I'm curious as to what that woman was trying to do to me. I'm guessing a Charm spell or somesuch...

Not so much.

Male(HP:58/58; AC:17/10/17;F+8,R+3,W+2;Init +0;Per +8) Human (Ulfen) Barbarian 5

Hope I didn't jump the gun, I read the main thread before seeing the discussion and didn't want you guys waiting on me if 14 rolled around and I wasn't online.

Half-Elf (Chelaxian) Female HP 37/37, AC 17/12/16, F +7, R +4, W +9, Init +6, Per +12 Inquisitor 5

Probably won't be able to post Sunday. If you want to DMPC me, my thought is to use the whip to disarm Widow Peak of his scroll, or trip him if the scroll's already been used. If he's wearing armor and Calla instead pulled her morningstar, she'll simply move to attack.

And if none of those make sense after the first round, feel free to do something different. : )

Male Goblin Wizard 5 (Abjurer); Init +2; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +3; AC 13 (touch 13, flatfooted 12; +2 Dex., +1 size); hp 35; Fort +3; Ref +3; Will +5

Belana... 'Desecration'? It's a gambling den with a tournament themed after descending into the depths of Hell whilst robbing the place. :p Surely you jest...

Lefrik: I don't think you need to worry too much. ;)

F Dwarf Cleric 1

Desecration of an honorable tournament of luck and a chance to "fight" through hell. Plus is similar to a tavern, which are more often than not the closest thing to a temple for Cayden's worshippers......Plus it seemed like an entertaining visual for Ankelebiter and Lefik, a dwarf that had been gambling and drinking, charging with a rapier and screaming about desecration.

Male Goblin Wizard 5 (Abjurer); Init +2; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +3; AC 13 (touch 13, flatfooted 12; +2 Dex., +1 size); hp 35; Fort +3; Ref +3; Will +5

Oh, it was definitely entertaining. ^^ Shame Lefrik's too blinded to see it right now. Thanks for the explanation!

Calla, he is not armored and the whip will work just fine. I'll DMPC you as needed for that. Good call.

Legit and Anklebiter, You guys make a pod team. If Anklebiter sees someone coming within striking distance of lefrik, I'll give lefrik a hot against total concealment.

Speaking of, whenever w roll percentile dice, I'd like everyone o use high as the "success" value. So, if you have a 20% chance of success, an 81 or higher is a success. It alleviates confusion.

Waiting on Anklebiter for another update. Too bad Belana, that was an awesome line. Guess you had a bit more to drink than you thought?

Male Goblin Wizard 5 (Abjurer); Init +2; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +3; AC 13 (touch 13, flatfooted 12; +2 Dex., +1 size); hp 35; Fort +3; Ref +3; Will +5

Oops, sorry! I'm used to a system where we all roll initiative, but the players post, and then the DM posts, tying everything up in order. Sorry to have delayed posting!

That is basically the system that we are using. Its just that you acted before the enemy on teh first round, and I had to see what you would do.

Male Goblin Wizard 5 (Abjurer); Init +2; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +3; AC 13 (touch 13, flatfooted 12; +2 Dex., +1 size); hp 35; Fort +3; Ref +3; Will +5

Grease: The spell that keeps on giving. ^^

Anyone else have vision of Anklebiter climbing onto Lefrik's shoulders and casting spells from there while ordering the northman about. We could call them Master Blaster.....

HP 37/46, AC 16/12/14, F +4, R +6, W +2, Init +2, Per +8 (+10 traps)

Who runs Riddleport? Lefriklebiter runs Riddleport!

Male Goblin Wizard 5 (Abjurer); Init +2; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +3; AC 13 (touch 13, flatfooted 12; +2 Dex., +1 size); hp 35; Fort +3; Ref +3; Will +5

How about it, Lefrik? ;) Would being a Goblin's 'horse' count as a great deed?

Male Goblin Wizard 5 (Abjurer); Init +2; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +3; AC 13 (touch 13, flatfooted 12; +2 Dex., +1 size); hp 35; Fort +3; Ref +3; Will +5

You know, I really hope we don't find out that these people we're killing are actually the good guys, here...

That would be a shame, wouldn't it? :)

Perfect!

Wow, my connection is slow today. Lefrik & Anklebiter sounds like a legal team to me. :)

So, am I the only one who thinks our new employer is laying it on perhaps a few inches too thick...?

One does wonder

And I'm not sure, but I think the good GM and I crossposted

F Dwarf Cleric 1

hmm... you might be onto somehting. Belana is so caught up in the goblin and beardless dwarf thing, she might be blinded to any treachery he plans...... oh well.

Male Goblin Wizard 5 (Abjurer); Init +2; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +3; AC 13 (touch 13, flatfooted 12; +2 Dex., +1 size); hp 35; Fort +3; Ref +3; Will +5

DM Bigrin, which spells might there be in the spellbook? Shall I start making Spellcraft checks to decipher them, as I haven't studied Read Magic for today?

Half-Elf (Chelaxian) Female HP 37/37, AC 17/12/16, F +7, R +4, W +9, Init +6, Per +12 Inquisitor 5

RE: Treasure.

My general feeling is the best way is to let people take what their characters can use (trying to maintain some balance so one person doesn't get everything) and then split proceeds from the rest of the loot evenly, with a share to the party for healing items, etc.

Though since we're not really a party yet, I'd probably suggest forgoing that last split for the moment.

@Anklebiter - Spellbook contains: all cantrips, grease, identify, magic aura, true strike, hold portal, magic missile, shield.

Male Goblin Wizard 5 (Abjurer); Init +2; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +3; AC 13 (touch 13, flatfooted 12; +2 Dex., +1 size); hp 35; Fort +3; Ref +3; Will +5

@ Calla: That's pretty much why I'm going for the book; that is definitely most useful to me right now. ^^

@ DM Bigrin: Nice. I have some of those, but the ones I don't make a nice addition. I'll put it on my character sheet.

Just FYI, the DM posted this in a game he's in that I'm running, which I imagine explains his silence: I leave for Haiti at oh-my-goodnees-it's-early in the morning. Starting tomorrow night I'll only be able to check and post in the evenings.

Happy Passover (or Easter), everyone.

Yep, I meant to post that on here as well but got distracted. Internet is a little flaky here, but I should be able to get on occasionally.

Male Goblin Wizard 5 (Abjurer); Init +2; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +3; AC 13 (touch 13, flatfooted 12; +2 Dex., +1 size); hp 35; Fort +3; Ref +3; Will +5

Hmm. Can I use Diplomacy to improve the ladies' moods? Diplomacy check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 Nnnnope, I don't think I can. Unless they choose to be mollified, anyway. ^^;

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

As far as I can tell, Anklebiter's the only one who can use the wand (unless Bruenor wants to try), so I'd say it goes to you, even though you go the spellbook. Since you'll presumably be using it to help us out, doesn't bother me, personally.

HP 37/46, AC 16/12/14, F +4, R +6, W +2, Init +2, Per +8 (+10 traps)

Same here - treasure should go to the people who can best use it. No complaints here!

Male Goblin Wizard 5 (Abjurer); Init +2; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +3; AC 13 (touch 13, flatfooted 12; +2 Dex., +1 size); hp 35; Fort +3; Ref +3; Will +5

Thanks. I hope to put the thing to good use -- and if we find out there isn't one, we can always sell it for quick cash later.

F Dwarf Cleric 1

Just turns out to be a good haul for a mage. Not like we could use it anyway, so go nuts, and zap everything you can find, except this dwarf maiden......
