I'd like to throw my tri-corn pirate's hat in the ring with Jessamy Pierce, future scourge of the Inner Sea.

Background's in the profile, which is mostly done (I'll probably tweak her gear, but I think the rest is as is). Jessamy's a bright character, albeit cocky. She has every intention of having her own ship -- as well as fame and fortune, of course -- by the time she's 20. While she may not have chosen how she ended up on the Wormwood, she's just as happy to bear there. Adventure awaits, and she's not one to shirk from the chance for glory and fortune and glory and fame and glory!

In terms of roles, she's obviously got a lot of skills, so she's somewhat of a skill-monkey/face. In combat, I'm thinking two-weapon fighting but if you're OK with it, I may also take some levels of gunfighter and make her a bit of a switch-hitter.

Disclaimer: I've started an S&S campaign before but the GM disappeared. We were only up to level 2 and hadn't gotten to the first ship-to-ship combat, but I do have some knowledge of the basic first couple weeks on the Wormwood.

Wait, there's going to be ship-to-ship combat in this? SPOILERR..... ;)

Sorry, I figured that was like spoiling that someone will say "arrr..."

Crap, did that need a spoiler too?

"Arrr"

:)

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

Wait, this is about pirates? I thought he said "pilots"!

I'm going to be king of the pirates.

Alexander BadAxe is the soul suriver of the BadAxe clan. He set out to restore his families honor. He heard that his clans ancestral weapon THE BADAXE was in this area and he set forth to reclaim it. Also to get revenge on the one who destroyed his clan. (don't know the setting well enough to know who can you give me some suggestion? As well as a distinctive appearance so I can ask people about him).

Alexander BadAxe is an human invulnerable barbarian. (considered half-orc for the destroyers blessing, but how can you have a clan of half-orcs?)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I have to chime in and agree. One of the funniest games I've played in was in-person and featured my dwarf ranger with a glass eye, a deaf oracle, and a monk who took a vow of silence. Talk about "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil," lol. And totally unplanned. Everyone played their characters very memorably and with much humor. The oracle spoke with a very nasal, hard to understand tone (which was always fun when he was on lookout and tried to tell us what he saw); the monk and the oracle both took sign language as a language (and nobody else did), so the monk would translate what the oracle was trying to warn us about by breaking out his parchment pad and ink pen; my dwarf's glass eye always popped out whenever I rolled a nat 1 on a Perception check. By the time we were done playing charades, the threat was upon us, lol. Good times.

Dotting for future reference. Working on a Human Buccanneer Gunslinger. Arrrr!

Here is my submission for Will Jacks, cleric of Besmara

Character sheet is still a work in progress, but his background, description and personality are completed. All can be found in the profile

Profile has been updated with a spoiler that gives the NPCs from Variziel's backstory for ease of reference without having to sift through, along with my own ideas for classes for them.

Dotting. Ocean druid in work.

If you are talking about the aquatic Druid Archetype then you might be better off being a storm druid seems to help more on a ship. The wind and weather are a big deal on a ship.

Grogbeard reporting in!

Working on his background now, will have it done either later tonight or tomorrow. This be Crustypeanut's Submission.

Ok, that's it. It might not be PFS official, but i'm going to later compare the mute curse to the other curses and make up my own progression. Just so I can make a Pathfinder version of my mute biker chick from World of Darkness someday....

I think I would also like to be an Urban Barbarian as well as invulnerable nice to get profession sailor as a class skill.

Any idea about who might have destroyed my clan? I have a revenge to plan.

Wow I never realized barbarians don't get Profession as a class skill.. makes sense though.

Here's my submission. Background in work the next day or two. I appreciate the advice on the storm druid, but I'd like to stick with the aquatic archetype.

Probably gonna swap Heal for Profession Sailor.

I'm a consistent poster (I run games, myself) and can commit for the long haul.

EDIT: also need to update purchases

Not yet. Do you have any more info about the man? Any personality type things you'd like 'im to have? If not, I might just say insert a place holder character then we can look at that once PC's have been picked.

No really preferences for who I'm going after just want it to mesh with the campaign. Maybe the big villain.

Well something like that might work, though honestly I'd rather work an npc you made up into the campaign than work an npc from the campaign into your background.

Alright how about a corrupt navy captain. A Sorcerer with a distinguished bloodline whose family connections allow him to get away with anything.

Alway found it interesting that Sorcerer is the only class that can really be passed down to your children it give more then one meaning to bloodline.

I've updated my purchases and background/appearance. The latter I've duplicated here for easy reference.

Background:
Jesal is a Bonuwat Mwangi who grew up as a fisherman along the Mwangi coast in a fishing village off the Fever Sea in the northern part of the Kaava Lands, worshipping Shimye-Magalla, a combined incarnation of Gozreh and Desna. A happy child who laughed and swam with his brothers and friends, but wokred hard to bring food to his plate, he had two major defining moments.

The first is when he earned his name, getting caught in some kelp while clam diving and nearly drowning. His friends pulled him out and swore he'd stopped breathing but after an older wise man pounded on his chest, he coughed up the seawater and began breathing again. They named him Knothin, which means "The Drowned" in his language. He enjoyed a bit of celebrity due to that small miracle, but it was cut short when their village was raided by a pirate ship out of Smuggler's Shiv in Desparation Bay.

Putting most everyone to the sword, the pirates spared very little and burned the village after plundering it. Jesal was among the few who were able to swim and in good conditioning and were taken as slaves aboard the ship, chained to oars for a time and later forced to clean the galley, sew sails and do cabin boy type work. The ship was run by a vicious one-eyed half-elf pirate captain and his first mate, a female sorceror of unknown race who hid her face behind a convereted Red Mantis assassin mask (rumored to belong to an assassin who attempted to kill her). They were careless about life, but Jesal was able to survive for four years aboard the ship before it was boarded and scuttled by a Sargovan naval vessel. The slaves were freed and dumped in Port Freedom.

Jesal survived on the streets for a bit before he took up on a smuggler's ship for a couple years as a bosun's mate. That ship shipwrecked on an island in the southern shackles where Jesal found his true calling when he was rescued by a small clan of merfolk.

Those merfolk helped him set up his life as a hermit and Jesal became one with nature and the sea, swimming with the merfolk as often as possible and once even traveling to their home with the aid of one of their priest's magic. Jesal's reliance on the grace of Gozreh began to dominate his druidic philosophy and his powers emerged a couple years back. It's during this time that the Merfolk took to calling him "Salt" since he spent so much time in the water with them that the ocean salt would encrust itself in the folds of his skin when he dried off, standing out against his dark hue.

Eventually, even on an island news can travel and word came to him that a one-eyed half-elf sailor and his masked consort were seen in the Shackles and deep-seeded thoughts of revenge drove him to a tearful goofbye with his merfolk friends. Realization that his isolation wasn't healthy for him in the long term, Jesal found his way off the island and traveled by stowaway to Port Peril.

He's just now headed to the Shackles in pursuit of his former captors aiming to use his familiarity with ships to find work aboard a ship and travel about looking to hear of rumors.

Appearance:
Salt has long hair and a beard that he's braided into individual locks interlaced with shells and seaweed. He's quick to smile and enjoys people but remembrance of his ancient pain and the loss of his family can bring a cold rage. He's known to turn to smoking natural drugs of the area whenever able, but doesn't drink much, preferring the high of natural herbs.

He wears a garish green vest over his armor which looks like it's made partly from flotsam and jetsam. He wears wide baggy multi-colored striped trousers and generally goes shoeless.

Salt speaks Common with a heavy accent but often blends in other words and sometimes refers to himself in the third person when he gets excited or tired.

DMBen - Btw, what posting frequency are you looking for? I can certainly post at least once per day, more often is doable too.

I'm just looking for once a day. I am a full time student and work a full time job. Also, I work at a residential treatment facility, which means there's no chance of me posting at work. Most of the time, I will only be posting once a day.

On a side note, it looks as if submissions are about finished up. I was going to keep them open till Saturday, but I've got plenty to choose from now, so I'm going to say 24 hours left. Submissions close tomorrow night at midnight (PDT or GMT-7, whichever you prefer).

fingers crossed :D

expanding the backstory of Molos.

expanded backstory:
Molos's first battle was on Sea rager a small ship carrying 30 pirates including himself. They had been attacked by a Cheliaxian slaver galley and the fight was bloody.

He quickled dodged the incoming hellknights chain and went under it plunging his rapier into a chink in the mans chainmail. He then struck at an unarmored side of the man's left leg slicing a tendon open. While the man lay on the ground screaming Molos plunged into the main fray and stabbed his rapier right through one man's heart.

Another hellknight struck at him with a chain and through the rapier aside, he dodged underneath the chainmasters strike and conjured forth a rapier of pure blood. Quickly he dodged to the side of the hellknight and plunged his bloody red rapier into the man's lung. After that the battle was over the pirates had won.

The booty was a pittance and the pirates annoyed, plus the ship needed to be repaired and so they set off to find a port. Molos entered a tavern and began drinking heavily...

Good luck everybody and may the best gnome win ;)

Congrats, have fun guys!

Awesome. Thanks, DM Ben. Much appreciated! I should have time tonight to give her one last look. As noted, I think I want to tweak her gear a bit, though everything else should be good.

Have fun, all!

Will do, thanks much!

OK, Jessamy's gear should be done. Just trying to decide if I'll take the pirate or swashbuckler archetype and then a few minor things to update, but I'm ready to go whenever.

Enjoy!

Bestest of luck to all who be setting sail!

Much cheers to all.

Great. Head over and check in at the discussion thread.

Good luck, don't raid my ship, ok? :)
