Things have happened a lot quicker than we expected, I'll see how things play out tonight but I may not have to quit, thanks for the prayers guys if I can just have a couple days to get some things lined out I'll be able to play.
DM Beckett |
Would anyone mind if a new player jumped in?
He is another Bard and interested, but wanted to check, especially about the having two Bards.
Sinclair Silvertongue |
I'll be honest, I kind of do mind. I feel that having 2 bards really waters down my character and will cause so much overlap. I have a pretty strong idea of where I'm going with my build and would rather not have to alter it. If the rest of the group wants it then whatever but I'm against having a 2nd bard. Sorry if I'm being a dick

I am ok with new player but siding with sinclair on the bars issue.... I thinkhaving 2 bards is unnecessary... If it were sociaty i wouldnt care as i am in scenario with like 3 or 4 heavy melee but for an A.P. i feel we need as much diversity as posible.
On a side note that is an amazing character bio i am very impressed

By my tally, we've got a bard, anti-bard (mesmerist), inquisitor, rogue, and wizard.
A full BAB front-line fighter of some variety or 9 level divine caster would be more useful, but with 6 players I don't think we have to be all that picky.
Xavril |
I am not staying rogue... Only first 3 i intend to have my guy be the front with the urban barbarian so if you want to have another sneaky person that would be fine by me... Like i said i only doing 3 levels of it

Xavril |
Since bardic performance doesnt stack unless your an archtype that doesnt use it then there is no point to have 2 bards for an A.P. just my opinion

Ok. He was accepted into another game, so no worries. Ill get going again today.
DM Beckett |
Hey everyone, as most of you know, I am in the military, and I just found out today that between the 11th and the 22nd, I will be going out to the field for training.
Most, if not all of you have been in a game when this has happened in the past, and I apologize for the short notice. I just found out today. If I have internet access on my phone, I will make every effort to update and check in. But, I honestly will not know if I have any service on my phone until I get there.
DM Beckett |
Hey everyone, I just wanted to say that while I didn't go out, work has been killing me. I'll try my hardest to get this going again tomorrow.
DM Beckett |
Im making notes in the campaign page, but kind of leaving it to you to level up and double check if I make a mistake.
John Harker |
Ya I've only done one and it was table top and we were told when we leveled, so pardon my noobie question but what is the target exp value to know when you level up? I've always just figured it as a module gives you 1 lvl and 3 scenarios give you 1 lvl, but never actually broke it down to a number system lol
DM Beckett |
Its the medium (normal) XP, and I'll make an effort to let you know, I just mean I could always use some help tracking as we go.
John Harker |
Ya think I found it for medium it'd be 2000xp? I wasn't saying its your job to track GM just that I'd never actually tracked by exp before.
John Harker |
DM Beckett |
At everyone. I'll tell you what. You can have a one time rebuild up until you hit level 3. But, unlike PFS, you can not change race, gender, background, or resell anything. Basically what's already in play.
John Harker |
Sinclair Silvertongue |
So how exactly do we handle loot and gold? Items such as rings that have a value, do they need to be sold first? Does gold get split evenly among us? What if someone gets an item to use, do they get less gold? When can we buy stuff? Sorry for all the questions but I've only ever done PFS
Harold Wainright |
@Sinclair: Treasure is handled a bit different in a 'home game' as opposed to PFS, since you will (theoretically, at least) be adventuring with the same people for the entire AP.
The system that I have generally seen work the best is that equipment that is actually going to be used should go to the person who can use it, and anything left over is sold and split between the party members (after any 'group purchases' are made).
Generally, the first 'group purchase' that I recommend is a Wand of Cure Light Wounds.
I have also taken the liberty of constructing a 'Loot Sheet' (which I have linked on my character page).
If anyone wants to claim the Bracers or the Silver Dagger, they should speak up :-)
Xavril |
Wow ok total brain fart lol i wont take them because i am wearing armor and John if you take them and then cast mage armor they are wasted lol i would leave them for another user that wont use mage armor
Xavril |
so i know Joe is in military and getting ready to deploy. Idk when he leaves but he will have internet when he gets there. So this may or may not be part of the delay is the transition

DM Beckett |
Just wanted to give the final heads up. I'll be leaving for deployment now in under 24 hours. I'm going to try to get another post in before hand, but between the weather and final packing, I may not be able to. I expect to be away for 1-7 days, but realistically, I expect to be back more after 2 to 3 days.
DM Beckett |
Hey everyone. I apologize for vanishing. Yesterday I was told I would be assuming command of the medical coverage for an entire post, and it's been crazy. The internet has also been very poor, and I needed to try to push a few games to make the Game Day deadline what little time I could get on.
The Game Day is now over, and a lot of my games have finally dropped of, which will allow me to finally devote more time to this. In the future minus the internet issue which seems mostly random, (some days I just can not connect, or get kicked off constantly), I should be able to post regularly, and may even be able to do so from work now, (something I have not been able to so far).
DM Beckett |
You guys do have a pretty decent amount of gear you might want to try to sell off. You also have an opportunity to make some purchases as well. I'd suggest whoever was recording the treasure post it all out so you can decide what to keep or to sell. Remember, this is not PFS, so it's possible that wealth might not be evenly spread, but, it's also just as possible that down the road you might be the one with more stuff you want than others who might be that way now.
Additionally, go ahead and make a wishlist of items you want to try to find and buy, (over say the next week) and we will go from there.
Finally, let me get one of the following from everyone:
Appraise Check
Wisdom Check
or Cha Check.
Harold Wainright |
Wisdom Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16.
The loot sheet is linked from my character page, but in summary:
Mundane:
MW Silver Dagger
Composite Mighty [+1] Shortbow
MW Hand Crossbow
MW Silver Morningstar
Cache of Documents - we should probably keep these
Consumables:
Scroll of Misdirection
Scroll of Pass Without Trace
Scroll of Undetectable Alignment
Scroll of Whispering Wind
Magical Items:
Bracers of Armor +1
Cloak of Resistance +1
+1 Leather Armor
Cloak of Elvenkind
Silver Raven x6 - we should probably keep these
In addition to which, we have 1773.92 total.
If anyone wants any of the stuff listed above, speak now, or forever hold your peace. Anything not claimed will be liquidated, and then the total split between party members, so that we can sort out what we want to buy.
I would, however, recommend that we purchase (as a group) a Wand of CLW...
Harold Wainright |

+1 level of Inquisitor
+6 hp
+1 BAB
+1 Fort, +1 Will
Skills: +1 Bluff, +1 Diplomacy, +1 Disguise, +1 Intimidate, + 1 Perception, +1 Sense Motive, +1 Stealth

Cha: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
I think the Bracers of Armor were already claimed. I'll take the Cloak of Resistance if nobody wants it. As for the scrolls, they are all on my spell list expect Pass Without Trace which I don't think any of us have. I can always UMD it though. But I think we should keep any scrolls we get, they're probably given to be useful. Also, maybe the silver weapons are a omen of things to come?
Wish List
MW Rapier
Darkwood Buckler
MW Shortbow
Darkleaf Studded Leather
Headband of Cha and Int
Circlet of Persuasion (Top of my list by pricey for now)
Handy Haversack
I also wanted to ask the group as far as my spell selection. I was going to take Silent Image but I can take CLW if you think it would be more useful.
+1 BAB
+1 Ref and Will
+7 HP
Versatile Perfomance (Sing)
Well-Versed
+9 Skill points: Perform (Sing), Perform (Dance), Diplomacy, Perception, Spellcraft, Stealth, Kn Arcana, Kn Planes, Kn Geography
Spells: Dancing Lights and TBD
Harold Wainright |
Given that, if all of the items are claimed (and we consequently don't end-up selling them), we will have about 200gp each (after buying a Wand of CLW), saying you want to buy 4000gp headbands and belts might be pushing it ;-)
More seriously, I think the GM was asking for a list of items that we want to purchase *right now*, rather than a long-term wish list.
Re: the Cloak and Bracers, I believe John claimed the Bracers, but the cloak was still up for grabs.
Personally, I would be happy with a MW Mighty[+2] Darkwood Composite Longbow, but I doubt that I'll be able to afford the 630gp price tag any time soon ;-)
@Sinclair: Having the option of some extra healing is never a terrible option.
Harold Wainright |
Updated Loot List (things in italics have not been claimed, and will be sold if unclaimed):
Mundane:
MW Silver Dagger - 161gp if sold
Composite Mighty [+1] Shortbow - 137.5gp if sold
MW Hand Crossbow - 200gp if sold
MW Silver Morningstar - 199gp if sold
Cache of Documents - Keep (party loot)
Consumables:
Scroll of Misdirection - John (can scribe it)
Scroll of Pass Without Trace - Sinclair (Can UMD it)
Scroll of Undetectable Alignment - Sinclair
Scroll of Whispering Wind - John (can scribe it)
Magical Items:
Bracers of Armor +1 - John
Cloak of Resistance +1 - 500gp if sold (but someone should keep it!)
+1 Leather Armor - 580gp if sold
Cloak of Elvenkind - Xavril
Silver Raven x6 - Keep (party loot)
In addition to which, we have 1773.92 total (1023.92 after purchasing a Wand of CLW) - so 204.78gp each (and counting)
John Harker |
Appraise: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 I would like the bracers of armor, scribe the two scrolls, and the silver dagger. Sinclair you can have the Cloak. I'll recap my level up here in a bit as I'm going to alter some things to try to help my character be more useful.
DM Beckett |
Sorry, what I mean by a wishlist is things you would like to buy right now, (in the next few hours or days in the game).
Anything more than 500gp is probably beyond your means, give or take. Right now, low level scrolls and potions are pretty easy to locate. Wands are a bit iffy.
Masterwork Weapons and Armor you can find (or have created via Masterwork Transformation), so if you can afford them, you can buy them.
Other magical items, however, are going to be a little more difficult to come by. (basically I'm going to roll randomly to see if you can find it, roughly based on price and complexity.)
Many of you have commented about wanting to play a traditional, (not PFS) style home game, and not being able to just buy what you want as soon as you can afford it is part of the challenge of that. Now, that being said, I do not plan on trying to keep certain things from you, for instance a magical elven curve blade from Xavril who is based around that weapon. If the dice do not favor you for too long, or it's starting to become an issue, I will certainly throw one is as treasure as we go.
