Ok. We are getting closer, so I wanted to start taking a bit of a look at all the characters, and also throw out some ideas and questions (meant for everyone).

Harold Wainright: Looks good. I was curious though about your background. Could you give us a few sentences for a general idea. I'm perfectly fine with it being built upon later. Can you also tell me where your Birthmark is? It may be important. Also, just wanted to point out that the new errata does make it where Litany of Sloth now offers a Will Save.

Nihm the Splendiferous: You seem to be missing one of the Campaign Traits, and I was likewise wondering about your backgrounds, general motivations, and the like. I also jut want to reiterate that your character's faith, (as are many others) is outlawed in the area. (That doesn't mean you can't play it). It would probably be a good idea to have a cover story prepared, and also to possibly be ready for some Bluff, Disguise, and maybe Know Religion checks, IF it comes up.

Jonathan Harker: You seem to have one too many Traits and also seem to be lacking spells. I want to really hit this right now and up front. Is anyone going to have an issue with a Necromancy focused "dark" character? Please keep in mind this is not PFS. So the typical "under the rug" idea of Alignment Infractions doesn't apply. <That doesn't mean I'm going to screw you over, I'm just saying that this isn't a case where if there is an issue, everyone only needs to make it through one scenario. Nor am I accusing you/anyone of anything.> But, if there are going to be issues, NOW is the time to deal with them. Are you planning on raising undead? Or using other [Evil] spells more that extremely rarely? Does anyone have any issues of or concerns here? Also, please keep the Negative Energy Affinity in mind.

Xavril: I'm still undecided on the Ancestral Weapons alternative racial trait, specifically because I don't want to open the door to "but you let _____ do it". So, and this is for everyone, is it going to be an issue letting this one thing go? I'm personally okay with it, but my main concern is not wanting to either seem like I'm favoring one person or to risk others getting mad because they can't get something they want. Also, as before, can we get some character motivation and backstory.

Chris: I understand you are busy, but when you get a chance, please post your character, and I'd also like your feedback as well about the above.

------------------------------------------

For everyone: When I say backstory and Motivations, some of the things I'm looking for are -
*How did you come to Kintargo? What do you do there? How long have you (and family???) live there? Are you a native, and outsider, a traveler caught within the city? Other?
*How do you feel about the events that are going on?
*What makes you different than most other folks? Why do you have that little spark that will cause you to stand against the tides?
*Things I can use for story hooks and to help make the game much more personalized.
*What does your character want? What are they not willing to do to get it?
*Who and/or what do you care about? What things give you morale, strength, and are worth fighting for?

------------------------------------------

There are also a few things I wanted to point out to expect for the majority of the game. May or may not be true, but something I wanted everyone to consider at least.

*Being a mainly urban adventure, there is a really good chance that you will not be walking around with weapons drawn, and possibly even walking around with weapons larger than a dagger or the like. (For now, unless otherwise specified, each combat or encounter will assume you do not have any weapons out unless you are obviously exploring a dungeon.) Walking around with obvious weapons in what's essentially an Nazi-Like police state will draw attention you don't want.

*For area effects, more likely than not, there will be a lot of bystanders present, (which is also one of the reasons I was saying that the Wand of Color Spray wouldn't be a good idea). I'll make that clear each time, but something to keep in mind.

*Does anyone know anyone else?

I only have three traits the other thing in there is the reason you are at the protest so I put it on the list for why my character is there. The play test says everyone should have a reason. It's not a trait I just didn't know where else to list it. I do plan on using necromancy spells: Chill Touch, Ghoul Touch Ray of Emfeeblement, Repair Undead to heal myself. So if someone has an issue i need to know now cuz I'll have to create a new backstory.

As for my trait I am ok with not taking it. Personaly I feel the Half-Elf should get the weapon familurarity as the Half-Orc does but that is just personal opion and why i wanted that trait

I think the issue people are waiting for is do you plan on using Evil and Undead creation spells? And if so, how often? It's not general Necromancy spells that cause issues, but rather the more specific ones that are evilish.

I do not "plan" on Raising the dead. I'm playing a wizard that has access to Necromamcy spells, most of which I find interesting. If those aren't an issue then we're good.

Shadow Lodge

I don't particularly care as long as it's not an issue amongst the party.

Is Chelaxian an actual language? What I'm reading online says no, it was retconned out. I don't want to waste a language choice on one that's not even real. And with a Bard being so language dependent, I need all the languages I can get.

Here
And here

Shadow Lodge

||CORE Rotating DM ||Fingerprints||King Xeros ||Serpent's Skull||

Wow, I didn't know that. I just confirmed on Herolab (Chelish Human Ethnicity) does not get the free Chelish Language. So, that being said, nope, everyone starts with Taldan (Common), and that's the major language in the nation.

Infernal will also be important, and for flavor, the Chelish dialect now uses a great deal of Infernal words, but they are common knowledge enough that you do not require Infernal to understand it, it's just cultural flavor.

As for Masterpieces, and Persistent Metamagic Rods, these may become available later on. I actually have something in mind for Masterpieces as a special personalized reward, (as well as other things).

I'll take a look at Master Performer.

Shadow Lodge

||CORE Rotating DM ||Fingerprints||King Xeros ||Serpent's Skull||

I've also added an NPC Gallery to the Campaigns tab, containing some useful information for the game. Right now, it is just common knowledge information (no check required), and I plan to add to ad modify it as we go.

Background:
Jonas Sanriel or as he prefers to be known Nihm the Splendiferous is a student of the esoteric arts.

He grew up in Pezzack amongst the sedition and anti-Thrune sentiment. His elven father was killed while rebelling against the local governor that occurred directly before the Second Ashes of his beloved home town. Jonas, his mother, and older sister smuggled themselves from the city in the chaos of the rebellion. Shortly afterward, Pezzack was blockaded by the Cheliax navy and Jonas is now cut off from returning to his home even if it were safe.

Jonas and his family made their way to Kintargo where they blended into the populous. His mother was able to find work as a costumer in the threatre district of Jarvis End. His sister found a job at the Three-Legged Devil dancing hall.

Meanwhile, Jonas took on a false persona of the mysterious Nihm. He used his esoteric studies, charm, and guile to gain some prominence as a mystic. He is hired by the superstitious wealthy in town as a consultant. Nihm the Splendiferous listens to the problems of one client and uses that information to make recommendations to the next. Along with these recommendations, he also drops a little dissent into the elite by making them question whether following Thrune is actually in their own interests.

Within the last month, Nihm has started a stage performance where he shows off his talents. Through hypnotism, mesmerism, prognostication, psychometry, cold-reading, and automatic writing he has reads futures, objects, and auras to entertain and mystify. Also, it increases his fame and may lead him toward his goal of making it to the capital and inserting himself into the intrigue of the Egorian elite. Nihm's goal is to erode the supports holding House Thrune aloft. With the lifespan granted by his father's heritage, he has plenty of time to work toward his goal.

Hey everyone. I had a long post going that seems to have gotten eaten. I'm ok with Xavril taking the Elven Curve Blade, and no one seemed to speak up about it, I'll assume it's not going to be an issue.

I just received my hardcover today, so it should make reading it a lot easier for me, and I plan to start soon.

I do still need some backgrounds and motivations from people though before that. Again, it doesn't need to be too in depth, but I'd like to have some basic ideas about some of the things I mentioned up above.

Other than that, I'm thinking we should be ready to go ahead and get started within two or three days. And if you take a look at the Campaign thread, I've begun a list of important NPCs to help us all out as we go. If anyone has any questions, now is a good time.

If I get a chance to tomorrow, I'll also go through each character one by one and do a look over for what's missing. As of right now, the player base is split up all over the world, so I expect a bit of a slow paced game. No problem.

It will really help though if everyone can try to post alternative options for actions as well as their intentions as much as reasonably possible though, to help keep things moving.

I'll also be adding a bit of a timeline and "the story so far" as we get rolling.

Shadow Lodge

||CORE Rotating DM ||Fingerprints||King Xeros ||Serpent's Skull||

Harold:
Looks good. Just need a little bit of background story from you.

John Harker:
I've been debating this for a while. I get the whole Dracula tie in, but the main issue I see is that up until about 10 days ago, the local church of Asmodeus has been pretty minor. I'm also not entirely clear why your character would hate them? It feels like you are trying to cram a few different character concepts into one. How would you feel about (adding to your existing background, not replacing it), maybe being an outsider, perhaps trying to locate a rare book with more dark secrets for you to study. About a week ago, while travelling aboard a merchant ship for _______, the ship stopped at Kintargo to resupply, and then suddenly there was the shift in power, and the captain was detained. You are now stuck, hopefully not long, but you are not sure. You've gathered that there will be an official protest soon, and figure that you might be able to get things moving so that you can get on with your search.
-
Could you add in your spells prepared for the day, too. Other than that, looks goo, and I have a few story hooks I want to use down the road.

Nihm:
Looks good. How would you feel about owning your own small "psychic readings" shop? If your interested, Ill let you come up with the details, name, and etc. . . (Keep in mind you'll need a picture of the Queen, though for 10GP).

Sinclair:
Everything looks good. I see some hooks I want to work with.

Xavril:
It probably wouldn't have been a Hell Knight attack that killed Sonia, not unless that was within the last week, as the only Hell Knights in the area are the Order of the Torrent, (a very small group that hasn't been too explained yet, but are the most likely to contain paladins, and their duty is to find missing people). Otherwise looks good to go. I think I have a hook I want to use a little down the road.

I'm going to PM everyone once more just leading back here. Not everyone has posted in the game thread, so may not be seeing any updated.

Please let me know when the above is done and we can go ahead and get started soon.

Shadow Lodge

Nope, sorry, I didn't see the spoiler there. My mistake.

Harold:
The more I read, the more I find that the church of Asmodeus has not had a too terribly significant history or presence here until about a week ago, after the fires and Night of Ashes. So, what would you think about altering it a little bit(I was not clear if this was the intent or not already), to you and your father fled from the Chelish mainland and became "exiled" in Kintargo, probably a few years ago, and you have been living a bit in hiding since? That would make the sudden influx of some of the Chelish nobility's, Hell Knight's, and Church Inquisition's just a few days ago a very unnerving turn of events for you, and with the sudden loss of most of your hidden faith's leadership and priests a few days before that, you are maybe getting the impression that perhaps the past is catching up to you?

DM Beckett:
That definitely sounds like something I could work with :-)

Shadow Lodge

||CORE Rotating DM ||Fingerprints||King Xeros ||Serpent's Skull||

Harold:
So, with you being one of the only actual faithful left alive that you know of, minus a few <nameless NPC Class Level 1 Experts>, what are you going to do with your damaged church? While you do have the gift of true miracles, there are innocents you need to protect, and while you certainly have your suspicions, no one knows what actually happened. A few other faiths and institutions where also attacked, if that's what it actually was, but that was before Paracount Barzillai Thrune arrived to stop the chaos, with his new Hellknights, Asmodeus inquisition, and new Dottari guards. There are a few local gangs, but you are just not sure. . . I'm going to give you a small church, perhaps out of the back of your house or shop, or perhaps a local building. It's not too big, and it probably wasn't it's original purpose. But, I'll leave the details and "castle building" up to you. You don't need to worry too much about cost, but as long as it's reasonable, you have a bit of free reign. Have fun!!!

I added both of you on this as it seems you are working this aspect of your characters together, but it also seems you have different views on what happened. So, basically, there was another group of Hell Knights here (and I really need to double check if it's Hell Knights or Hellknights, ha ha), know as the Order of the Torrent. They have been mentioned a few times in setting, but never actually explained. SO I asked James Jacob for a bit of a spoiler, so that I could use them in part 1, (they will be coming up in the future), and the OOC answer is that off all the Hellknights, they are the one that is mostly the LG variety, and they make it a personal mission to find missing people. So, they wouldn't really make a good option. Within the last 10 days, though, they have vanished, along with many other random groups and people, and the new Lord-Mayor brought in another group to fill the gap. These are more traditional Hellknights. There are some other groups to be sure, but honestly, I know very little about them. A pretty good idea might be the Red Jills Street Gang, but I don't know anything about them yet. Now, it is possible to go with a random group of Hellknights that was traveling through the city in the past. Or we could also leave it unknown right now and fill that in as we go.

John:
I wasn't trying to "bash" our story, just incorporate it into the setting a bit more with what's going on. What I was saying is what about adding that onto what you already have. (I was also trying to find a way to give you something a little bit unique and special.) However, Real Life comes first, and I'm really sorry to hear that. Please, let me know if there is anything I can do, and I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. I totally understand, and if you want to get back in a little down the road, I'm fine with that. I know for me playing, even online helps to give me a sort of break from it, but I also know different people are different. Let me know what you need, and I'll see what I can do.

Harold:
The way I'm sort of seeing it is that over the last week, you have essentially picked up the pieces. A secret temple is perfectly fine, and I don't expect you to do too much with it, just sort of give a basic description, and you have the opportunity to personalize it a bit. Or, you might see it as your job to maybe try to track down some of the missing members?

I'm fine making it a random group of Asmodean worshipers who happened to be in the city, visiting from another Chelaxian city.
