Ok. We are getting closer, so I wanted to start taking a bit of a look at all the characters, and also throw out some ideas and questions (meant for everyone).
Harold Wainright: Looks good. I was curious though about your background. Could you give us a few sentences for a general idea. I'm perfectly fine with it being built upon later. Can you also tell me where your Birthmark is? It may be important. Also, just wanted to point out that the new errata does make it where Litany of Sloth now offers a Will Save.
Nihm the Splendiferous: You seem to be missing one of the Campaign Traits, and I was likewise wondering about your backgrounds, general motivations, and the like. I also jut want to reiterate that your character's faith, (as are many others) is outlawed in the area. (That doesn't mean you can't play it). It would probably be a good idea to have a cover story prepared, and also to possibly be ready for some Bluff, Disguise, and maybe Know Religion checks, IF it comes up.
Jonathan Harker: You seem to have one too many Traits and also seem to be lacking spells. I want to really hit this right now and up front. Is anyone going to have an issue with a Necromancy focused "dark" character? Please keep in mind this is not PFS. So the typical "under the rug" idea of Alignment Infractions doesn't apply. <That doesn't mean I'm going to screw you over, I'm just saying that this isn't a case where if there is an issue, everyone only needs to make it through one scenario. Nor am I accusing you/anyone of anything.> But, if there are going to be issues, NOW is the time to deal with them. Are you planning on raising undead? Or using other [Evil] spells more that extremely rarely? Does anyone have any issues of or concerns here? Also, please keep the Negative Energy Affinity in mind.
Xavril: I'm still undecided on the Ancestral Weapons alternative racial trait, specifically because I don't want to open the door to "but you let _____ do it". So, and this is for everyone, is it going to be an issue letting this one thing go? I'm personally okay with it, but my main concern is not wanting to either seem like I'm favoring one person or to risk others getting mad because they can't get something they want. Also, as before, can we get some character motivation and backstory.
Chris: I understand you are busy, but when you get a chance, please post your character, and I'd also like your feedback as well about the above.
------------------------------------------
For everyone: When I say backstory and Motivations, some of the things I'm looking for are -
*How did you come to Kintargo? What do you do there? How long have you (and family???) live there? Are you a native, and outsider, a traveler caught within the city? Other?
*How do you feel about the events that are going on?
*What makes you different than most other folks? Why do you have that little spark that will cause you to stand against the tides?
*Things I can use for story hooks and to help make the game much more personalized.
*What does your character want? What are they not willing to do to get it?
*Who and/or what do you care about? What things give you morale, strength, and are worth fighting for?
------------------------------------------
There are also a few things I wanted to point out to expect for the majority of the game. May or may not be true, but something I wanted everyone to consider at least.
*Being a mainly urban adventure, there is a really good chance that you will not be walking around with weapons drawn, and possibly even walking around with weapons larger than a dagger or the like. (For now, unless otherwise specified, each combat or encounter will assume you do not have any weapons out unless you are obviously exploring a dungeon.) Walking around with obvious weapons in what's essentially an Nazi-Like police state will draw attention you don't want.
*For area effects, more likely than not, there will be a lot of bystanders present, (which is also one of the reasons I was saying that the Wand of Color Spray wouldn't be a good idea). I'll make that clear each time, but something to keep in mind.
*Does anyone know anyone else?

I only have three traits the other thing in there is the reason you are at the protest so I put it on the list for why my character is there. The play test says everyone should have a reason. It's not a trait I just didn't know where else to list it. I do plan on using necromancy spells: Chill Touch, Ghoul Touch Ray of Emfeeblement, Repair Undead to heal myself. So if someone has an issue i need to know now cuz I'll have to create a new backstory.
Xavril |
I am ok with the the dark character. I think it would be unpathfinder like to not have one lol
As for my trait I am ok with not taking it. Personaly I feel the Half-Elf should get the weapon familurarity as the Half-Orc does but that is just personal opion and why i wanted that trait
DM Beckett |
I think the issue people are waiting for is do you plan on using Evil and Undead creation spells? And if so, how often? It's not general Necromancy spells that cause issues, but rather the more specific ones that are evilish.
John Harker |
I do not "plan" on Raising the dead. I'm playing a wizard that has access to Necromamcy spells, most of which I find interesting. If those aren't an issue then we're good.
DM Beckett |
I don't particularly care as long as it's not an issue amongst the party.
Sinclair Silvertongue |
I'm totally fine with both the necromancy stuff and the alternate trait. I say raise the dead all you want.
Working on my character when I can. Going with just a vanilla human Bard, there won't be anything controversial about him. I have the general build planned out, just have to find time to put it on paper.
John Harker |
These are the spells I plan to prepare: Chill Touch, Repair Undead, Urban Grace, (Arcane Bond)-open. I plan not to prepare anything in that slot b/c it says I can recall any spell from my spell book from it. What do you guys think?
Sinclair Silvertongue |
I just wanted to double check if bardic masterpieces are going to be open to me. Also, what are your thoughts on the master performer feats. And by banning Persistent Spell does that mean that a metamagic rod for it will also be unavailable?
Sinclair Silvertongue |
DM Beckett |
Wow, I didn't know that. I just confirmed on Herolab (Chelish Human Ethnicity) does not get the free Chelish Language. So, that being said, nope, everyone starts with Taldan (Common), and that's the major language in the nation.
Infernal will also be important, and for flavor, the Chelish dialect now uses a great deal of Infernal words, but they are common knowledge enough that you do not require Infernal to understand it, it's just cultural flavor.
As for Masterpieces, and Persistent Metamagic Rods, these may become available later on. I actually have something in mind for Masterpieces as a special personalized reward, (as well as other things).
I'll take a look at Master Performer.
DM Beckett |
I've also added an NPC Gallery to the Campaigns tab, containing some useful information for the game. Right now, it is just common knowledge information (no check required), and I plan to add to ad modify it as we go.
Does anyone have a preference for Maps between Google Drawings or Slides?
DM Snider |
Slides would be better for me as i am only on touch screen devices and new app doesnt take much space to use
Kryssa Lightbinder |
For a new character, it makes you double-confirm until you're out of your first ten posts. Then it acts normal. I don't think you're actually posting. I think it's just throwing it into preview mode.

Starting Wealth: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 5, 4) = 18 x 10 = 180gp.
He grew up in Pezzack amongst the sedition and anti-Thrune sentiment. His elven father was killed while rebelling against the local governor that occurred directly before the Second Ashes of his beloved home town. Jonas, his mother, and older sister smuggled themselves from the city in the chaos of the rebellion. Shortly afterward, Pezzack was blockaded by the Cheliax navy and Jonas is now cut off from returning to his home even if it were safe.
Jonas and his family made their way to Kintargo where they blended into the populous. His mother was able to find work as a costumer in the threatre district of Jarvis End. His sister found a job at the Three-Legged Devil dancing hall.
Meanwhile, Jonas took on a false persona of the mysterious Nihm. He used his esoteric studies, charm, and guile to gain some prominence as a mystic. He is hired by the superstitious wealthy in town as a consultant. Nihm the Splendiferous listens to the problems of one client and uses that information to make recommendations to the next. Along with these recommendations, he also drops a little dissent into the elite by making them question whether following Thrune is actually in their own interests.
Within the last month, Nihm has started a stage performance where he shows off his talents. Through hypnotism, mesmerism, prognostication, psychometry, cold-reading, and automatic writing he has reads futures, objects, and auras to entertain and mystify. Also, it increases his fame and may lead him toward his goal of making it to the capital and inserting himself into the intrigue of the Egorian elite. Nihm's goal is to erode the supports holding House Thrune aloft. With the lifespan granted by his father's heritage, he has plenty of time to work toward his goal.

Hey everyone. I had a long post going that seems to have gotten eaten. I'm ok with Xavril taking the Elven Curve Blade, and no one seemed to speak up about it, I'll assume it's not going to be an issue.
I just received my hardcover today, so it should make reading it a lot easier for me, and I plan to start soon.
I do still need some backgrounds and motivations from people though before that. Again, it doesn't need to be too in depth, but I'd like to have some basic ideas about some of the things I mentioned up above.
Other than that, I'm thinking we should be ready to go ahead and get started within two or three days. And if you take a look at the Campaign thread, I've begun a list of important NPCs to help us all out as we go. If anyone has any questions, now is a good time.
If I get a chance to tomorrow, I'll also go through each character one by one and do a look over for what's missing. As of right now, the player base is split up all over the world, so I expect a bit of a slow paced game. No problem.
It will really help though if everyone can try to post alternative options for actions as well as their intentions as much as reasonably possible though, to help keep things moving.
I'll also be adding a bit of a timeline and "the story so far" as we get rolling.
DM Beckett |
This AP looks fairly interesting. I think I'm ready on my end. I've ready enough, I think to get started, just waiting on the characters to finish up. I have a few ideas I also want to think about for the intro.
Is everyone pretty familiar with what's been going on in town? Are there any questions?
Daveak Bringer of Destruction |
No questions chris and i are posting back grounds today

DM Beckett |
No worries. I do plan on giving everyone a little bit extra based on their backgrounds, so I hope you like.
DM Beckett |
Blackmarket Mint?
As in Mint to break the law? It's actually pretty common. Not a lot of people are actually following the law, which was just made in the last few days. Or at least, they follow the law when people are watching.
Nihm the Splendiferous |
Btw, one of the most recent Know Direction podcasts talks with James Jacobs about this AP and the next and goes into some detail about the background and books to come.

Could you add in your spells prepared for the day, too. Other than that, looks goo, and I have a few story hooks I want to use down the road.
I'm going to PM everyone once more just leading back here. Not everyone has posted in the game thread, so may not be seeing any updated.
Please let me know when the above is done and we can go ahead and get started soon.
DM Beckett |
Nope, sorry, I didn't see the spoiler there. My mistake.

Hey Beckett I'm gonna have to drop from this and the other game, my father-in-law just went from bad to worse and I don't think I'm gonna have time for PBP right now. I'm sorry to you and the group but none of us expected to get the news we got today and I just need to devote my time to my family right now. Again in very sorry, if you can, drop me from this one and the other game please.
