In the mists of the haunted nation of Ustalav, a dark conspiracy stirs. The death of a trusted mentor is the first clue that will lead to the gates of death, and beyond.
Since we're nearly out (and should then level) - I was thinking of moving Melk away from the "classic" monk: either a maneuver master or martial artist (the one that doesn't get the mystical ki things). I'm open to your preferences DM Barcas :)
I leveled Run last night, just forgot to post over here.
I took Expeditious Retreat for a new formula, bumped up K(Arcana), K(Religion), Appraise, and DD among others. I get Poison Use and Poison Resistance at this level. Only got a 2 for HP, unfortunately.
Most importantly I get another bomb now, bringing me up to 7/day, and I took the Precise Bomb discovery which I figure will be mighty handy in combat so I don't have to be so worried about hitting party members with splash damage.
I was holding off till Tanner got the OK as I knew he was lagging in XP.
I took average HP, or do we roll those?
Will definitely be a better support character now as he picks up cure light wounds up to 3/day and disrupt undead as an orison.
Also picks up Track, Wisdom bonus to Initiative, Detect Alignment
+1 BAB, +1 Fort, +1 Will
Can't remember the exact break out of skills, but did pick up Know(Religion) for his experience so far, and Spellcraft, and Know(Arcana) as he starts to realize his spell casting ability.
By the way, I use Hero Points in my games, under the following rules (which I have added to my profile).
HERO POINTS
All PCs gain 1 Hero Point each time they level up.
You can use 1 Hero Point to do any of the following actions. You can only use 1 Hero Point per turn for these actions.
1. Gain an extra action of any type less than full-round.
2. Gain a +8 bonus to a d20 roll if spent before or a +4 bonus if spent after.
3. Perform a readied action without readying.
4. Regain a spell or use of a limited special ability.
5. Reroll a d20.
You can use 2 Hero Points to do the following, regardless of if you have used a Hero Point this turn.
6. Survive a fatal attack (2 points)
As I mentioned in the Kingmaker OOC, I'm strongly considering picking up a player to replace Duron. (By replace, I mean start playing the PC.) Thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas?
Azuk'ai's leveled, took average hp. As to Duron, I say we're still early enough to replace him altogether if we can't find anyone willing to take him over.
Thinking of a twist to be a little more useful in combat. Tanner carries a big pack with a crowbar, shovel, (and I should include a trowel). But I thought perhaps swapping a trait, Fortified Drinker (+2 vs Mind Control while drinking-maybe re-picking that up later) for Rough and Ready (+1 using tools of your trade in combat). If I swap a skill point into Profession-Archaeologist Field Hand, perhaps he could wield a crowbar 1d8 Bludgeoning damage (or piercing if designated) as an impromptu morningstar and a trowel 1d4 slashing as an impromptu dagger. I doubt a shovel would ever be a useful weapon (Mystery Men beside the point - I love the Shoveler :-])
Just a thought to stress the point that Tanner was never trained to be a warrior, but was always handy to the Professor. I really like the idea of eventually enchanting a thundering crowbar.
Are we all going together to the Church? Because each of us needs to top off the holy water and buy available healing. I figure us dribbling in all morning in ones and twos might put the old priest off his porridge.
Well, Run has no interest in going to the church, she'll stay put if at all possible and either get holy water elsewhere or hope someone else gets extra.
Azuk'ai's possession provides a few salient points:
1) Ghosts can possess people, and you need to be prepared for this.
2) There's no telling who your enemy might possess at any given time. Be vigilant. And paranoid.
3) ZOMBIES!
Also, that critical hit was just about perfectly timed.
Heh. Oh man, I hope not. Taisper's about all the hassle I can handle.
Also, I hope 7 bombs will help us out enough, as that's my daily of those. I didn't pre-brew any other extracts besides the 1 CLW that I've been doing, gonna have to get in the habit of maybe doing one more.
Guys, I fear that I might be overextended right now. Between the hours of my new assignment (0600-1400), the expectations of my new apartment manager (that I basically patrol at 2300 hrs and 0500 hrs, and apparently never sleep), and classes on the other side of the city on Wednesday and Thursday, I can't give this game the appropriate attention it deserves.
How would you feel about putting this game on hiatus for a few weeks or months, until I've fully transitioned into the way things are? Tell me what you guys think. I want to give the campaign the attention it deserves, and to be the best DM/storyteller I can be. I just can't do that until I get in the swing of things.
I plan on continuing Kingmaker as-is, so don't panic that you're losing all the games. I will commit to restarting as soon as I feel comfortable, and you know that I will not let you guys down.
Ofcourse my friend. Real life must take presidence, it's just that simple.
Frankly my experience with games that go on hiatus is not good, few survive it as people tend to go their seprate ways, pick up new games or disapear altogether, but such is (cyber-)life.
Still, I'm glad your keeping our kingmaker campaign running ;)
