Ganit, keep an eye open for the members of his entourage. Make sure they don't wander around too much. Today we're friends with Varnhold, but there's no telling what the future might bring, and if we ever face them in a military situation, I'd prefer that they don't have ample knowledge of our land and fortifications.

Despite the after effects of his nightly habit, Ganit gives Bronwyn a nod and does his bidding to the best of his hindered abilities.

If drunk is "sickened" then I'll assume a hangover is a less sever form of the same. -1 to skill/ability checks seems appropriate. Feel free to pop another 1 off if you feel that's too easy.

They men appear to be just sitting arond. One of them starts getting chatty with Delilah and making small talk, but she isn't too impressed with the man talking about his first outing and taking out a vicious wolf that he claims was as big as a Worg, but Delilah listened to him.

Wow! I am already his son in law! Actually, I was working my way in that direction, but was trying to take my time. Now that Carina and Bron are married, perhaps there is no further need to wait.

Lord Maegar Varn wrote:
"Do not worry. I understand how important edcation is. Otherwise, no one would be able to better themselves." he gives a big smile.

"Thank you, Lord Varn! I promise you that these books will be put to good use.

"However not all books are educational as there are many stories of heroes slaying demons and romances too." he laughs as he notices his daughter blush at the mention.

"Your delightful daughter is such a romantic at heart! We are all very fortunate to have her around! You should have heard her harp playing at the Baron and Baroness' wedding. She plays with such passion and grace."

Lord Varn wrote:
"Are you willing to give your pledge as I have given to you?"

When Zorestar has a moment alone with Lord Varn, he gives the lord his answer.

"My dear Lord Varn. I have come to know your daughter over the last several months and I have become very fond of her as I believe she has become fond of me. I would graciously and kindly ask for your permission to marry your daughter. I promise that I would treat her kindly and faithfully as long as I shall live. Naturally, Alicia needs the freedom to choose for herself if she would like to spend the rest of her life as my partner, but I wanted to ask for your permission before I posed such a question to her. So in a brief recapitulation, my Lord, do I have your support in asking your daughter to accept my hand in holy matrimony?"

Lord Maegar Varn gives you a serious stern look for a moment as you have seemingly tripped over a nerve and he steps closer to you, hand on the hilt of his blade before getting right up into your face and then smiling and grasping you hard into a hug.

"From what my little girl has told me, I'm not surprised you'd ask me first." he then looks at Zorestar with a proud look. "I couldn't have found a better suiter myself. Believe me, I tried. you have my blassing, honorable Zorestar Lebeda."

Carina Stigard wrote:

Alicia smiles to Carina

"He better be." she says with a wide smile and looks back at how her love seems to be so swept away with the prospect of a library. A citizen has asked to look over the library. He's a elf who appears to be far older than other elves you've seen before with his wirey white hair and wrinked complexion. He claims to have been a librarian for many years back in Kyronin, but he wanted a chance of scenery. Not to mention, to witness the birth of a new house of knowledge where all races (he stresses mostly on the human and non-elf races) can learn and better themselves. Becoming more civilised and perhaps winning wars with pen and paper instead of blood and steel.

Event roll: 1d100 ⇒ 15

1d100 ⇒ 81

Trouble sirrs in your kingdom this month for a famed Bandit, Grigori Blackbeard has been striking terror in the streets. He has been known to kill a man with his bare hands and he leaves a calling card in the form of a bloody mark on the wall that, some say, is written in the victims blood with his beard as the brush.

Make a stability check to see if you catch this man.

Male Human Bard 4

The council members are summoned in the late hours of the night to an emergency meeting. Bronwyn looks uncharacteristically tense, a cold fury simmering in his eyes.

There's a monster lurking in our midst. It's been three days and three victims. There will not be a fourth.

He gazes at the council members, imprinting on them the importance of the tasks at hand.

Akiros, I need you to triple our nightly patrols; Jameson and his men will take some of the routes. Zorestar, try to find any similarities between his victims - any sort of clue where he might strike next will help catch this bastard. Ganit - we need to hunt this man down. I will throw in a ratty cloak and old armor to keep a low profile while we make a few questions around town and set a trap for this animal. Carina, you need to keep our morale during this crisis. People need to know they're safe and that this creature will get the justice he deserves.

I think it could be fun if Ganit or Jameson rolled up the Stability check, since it's mainly their work that will catch this guy. Roll a 1d20+24 against a DC 27 (we only fail on a roll of 1-2).

If worse comes to worse you can call in Telias to track the man down and suffocate him to death in his terrifying and altogether much more impressive hermit beard.

I thought that Bron had renounced the Raslov name. (Which I believe was never his in the first place, not that Carina has a clue about this.)

Hearing of the bandit, Carina circulates among the people to show that she is not going to allow this "bandit" to frighten her and that the people should not allow him to frighten them. When the bandit is caught by Lord Addercop's skilled soldiers, Carina celebrates with the people.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

Jameson's group manage to catch up to the dwarf and skewer him like a pig when he tries to run, fleeing from the scene of a murder. Jameson's group had managed to tracked down the killer from witness reports and getting a clear description of the man.

His death makes the news and the town is now pleased and able to rest peacefully, knowing the heroes of the Greenbelt are able to keep them safe.

Stability roll should've been +23, not 27, but it beat it anyway.

Male Human Bard 4

Bronwyn calls for a big harvest festival a few days after the killer is caught and executed. Since we raised the Festivals edict might as well use it now!

The celebration features a big feast for the settlers and their families, with bonfires running all night and watered ale offered free of charge.

Hopefully, that makes people let go of this gruesome business with this murderer, the baron confides to his wife.

As you enter a new month Carina gets sick. She claims to be fine, however every morning she rushes to the bathroom to vomit up last night's supper.

How about Olegsburg or Olegsvale?

Seeing the concern on her husband's face, Carina gives him a big hug.

I am fine m'love. Probably just too much being cooped up here doing administrative tasks. Perhaps I can get some of my guards and take a ride north to Oleg's old trading post to get some fresh air and see how the development of that into a true town is going. I hear that they have been getting deliveries of fine chocolates from New Stetven up there, which are not making it down here. Perhaps I can pick some up.

As Carina says this last part, she gives Bron a shy smile like a little girl caught with her hand in the cookie jar.

Though at times it seems that the kingdom has remained reletively stable, almost appearing as if the group has done nothing with it, Jhod comes into the castle to alert you to a omen that just occured.
"Last night there was only grassland down your roads, but today, these bloomed." he holds up a unusual flower infront of you. "It has been rarely seen and the lands where your roads are and cities are filled with these flowers!"

You have recieved a natural blessing. +4 to stability checks until next event.

Well, I do not know much about religion, but I believe that's a really clear signal. Perhaps we can make a special cerimony to Erastil, thanking him for his bounty and assuring him we mean to keep up our good work. What do you think, father Jhod?

The baron lays a gentle hand on the reverend's shoulder, assuring the old man.

That is to change soon, father Kavken. As soon as the coins from our market begin to arrive at our coffers we'll send a team of workers to restore the old temple in the woods to its former glory. The gaze of Erastil is on that place, and I do mean to make him proud of us.

DM Aron or anyone nosey:

When she gets a chance, Carina takes Jhod aside.
Jhod, there is something that I need to speak with you about. I have recently been having strange dreams. In them I am carrying a child. But each time, the child appears different, once it looks like one of these . . . orcs . . . that I have dreamed of before. Other times, it appears like a monstrous black female with claws and a horrible vissage.

In addition, I have frequently been ill in the mornings. Do you know what all this means?
Yeh, gotta love low Wisdom characters.

The kingdom continues to grow more powerful in the passing months. You get the feeling that Brevoy has taken notice of this and nobles from different families have arrived as guests. Zorestar's family also arrive and discuss over how the current form of trading is working here both with the road that is now straigh to Oleg's which attaches to the main road leading to Restov and the waterways for trade with the south which has proven difficult on a few occassions, but as your population grows bigger more experiences bodyguards help escort the small trade boats up and down the river.

Larger kingdoms begin to notice as to more powerful merchants, wanting a slice of this place as you are in a perfect place for trade. However, this also makes your kingdom a target for the criminal element too who think they can make it big here.

New roads are build and you certainly see more of a increase in merchants who are taking their fascination with the place and interested in seeing what kind of market might be produced in such a rich land.

Btw, after the market is built I will be rolling all items and allow you the chance to either sell, buy or leave them there to buy at a later date and the event as all selling magic items does is fatten up your wallet, though just claiming it without paying for it causes unrest due to your greed.

*stumbles over a one-eyed elk carcass, riddled with arrows* "Huh, what sings?"

A year ago Ganit D’Artain lived in peace. He lived day to day, entirely self sufficient and without fear. A year ago his bow was meant for hunting, his knife was a tool and his axe split only wood. A year ago he was sober. A year ago he was a different man than the one he had been in his youth. A year ago he almost could have respected himself.

Ganit woke at his desk with a knife in one hand and a quarter bottle of Old Law in the other as the morning sun’s lithe fingers seeped through the cracks of the boarded up windows in the “Spymaster’s” office to give insight to the forgotten events of the previous night. A fresh ring of black powder by the door indicated he was too drunk to catch the thunderstone rigged to the door. The lingering scent of an unfamiliar perfume and emptiness of his desk toppers informed him he had brought back a woman. He must have kicked her out afterwards or else the door wouldn’t have been locked.

The ranger slides to the edge of his chair, drives the knife into the desk and sets the whiskey beside it. He rubs at his eyes for a moment before opening the top drawer of his desk and pulling out Mordelle’s iron symbol. ”May a’ been a sonofab!^#$ but a’least ya knew what ya were. No conscience; morals. No shame… No limitations. Now yer dead,” he finishes as he drops it back where he found it. ”Lucky bastard.”

Gwen had given birth a few months back; a son she named Galvin who still hadn’t met his father. Ganit did what he could to keep himself from seeing them but they were always pressing on his subconscious. He took a tug from his bottle of breakfast to help wash the thought away but it proved irrepressible. Rising sloppily to his feet and dresses himself in this ”cleanest” clothes before stepping outside to greet the harsh light and clamor of the city streets.

He had only allowed himself to check on what could have been his family only twice before. The first was the day after the child was born. Beaufort himself came to tell Ganit when Gwen went into labor, made some plea, then a threat, and stormed out. The details were hazy. He waited a few hours to sober up before using the information to stalk out and catch a quick glimpse of his child but choked at the last second. The second time was roughly two weeks ago by his count. Delilah mentioned that Jhod was coming to give the child his and Erastil’s blessings. She too made a plea and then a threat before making a fuss and storming off but again the details... Ganit made it to their room in the castle before fleeing the scene, this time at the sight of red hair exiting the door.

His position did give him access to quite a wealth of useful information. He was confident no one outside of the castle knew the extent of his and Gwen’s relationship but he wasn’t so lucky to have the same sort of privacy with his sister so he decided to keep a tail on her at all times. Fortunately she and Gwen had grown close so he had access to her whereabouts as well. It seemed that each Wednesday the two would visit the library to read poetry and children’s hymns aloud. It just so happened to fall on a day when Ganit was feeling particularly brave. Taking special care to remain inconspicuous, he stalked his way to the library, crept in through a second story window and searched the grounds for the small family.

Soooooooooooooo when do we want Telias to give Ganit his "intervention"?

Perception (Gwen) : 1d20 ⇒ 9

Perception (Dhalia) : 1d20 ⇒ 9

Neither of the women notice the spymaster sneaking in the shadows. Gwen is holding their son. A half-elf child with short bits of red growing on his head and the unmistakable grey eyes of his father(Correct me if I'm wrong about the eyes.). After a old nursery rhym, once sung by Ganit's mother to Delilah when she was a child, Gwen watches as the child falls asleep and looks out of the window. Old Beaufort was there too and knew that look in his daughter's eyes, shaking his head.
"It's his choice that he doesn't want to be involved. I don't see why you havn't started meeting new guys. That last one seemed promising." he says off-handedly, but Gwen gives him a glare. "Sure he wasn't perfect, but most men don't want to be with a woman who has a child already." he shrugs, getting the point across.

Gwen looks back out the window and shakes her head.
"None of them can replace him. I knew that, the day he saved my life those many years ago from that bear." she smiled at the memory. Her stubborness was just as bad, if not worse than Ganit's currently is. She still believed him to be irridemably evil, but was growing an attraction to him as she suspected he must've towards her. During a argument she went off on her own and tried to take down a bear on her own, but it was bigger than she thought and cut her deep. Just as it closed in, Ganit had killed it with a headshot from his bow. The fact he had tried to save her had shown that he had changed, but even today he doesn't appear to believe that. "If only he could see the good in him I do. I'm sure he'd be a great father."

Old Beaufort sighs and rises, now appearing to be on a walking stick to help with his leg, however it seems to be more than just the wound that's weakening him.
"I raised him like a son, but I guess it's true what they say. You can't clean the stain of sin without believeing you can atone for it." he hobbles over to the window to look up at the castle, as if looking for Ganit up there and in the sunlight the grey of his hair is more noticeable. You know, with Ganit and all his drinking, I'm surprise I havn't rolled up a scandal :p

After speaking with Jhod and being told what she did not want to hear, Carina went down by the shore of the lake where she sat by her favorite tree. What now? What was she going to tell Bron.

After a time, she falls asleep: There before her is the orc shaman watching her. You have betrayed me. How can I train you when you betray me?

Suddenly, the horrid black skinned female monster is behind the orc towering over him. You carry my future. If you will not join my sisters, then your daughter will. She then throws back her head and laughs.

Then the witchdoctor steps before the hag. No, her child will be a great warlord. He will lead my people to victory. He will be no monster like you, he will be a king.

Then the hag raises her arm as to strike the orc and . . .

Carina suddenly awakes with a shout. No, no, it is mine, not yours.

Moments later, her guard which was standing behind arrives. M'lady are you okay? You screamed?

Carina responded that she was fine and agreed that they should return to the castle.

Carina returned the her and Bron's room where she took one of the remaining chocolates from her trip to Oleg's which she plopped into her mouth while waiting for her husband to return from his evening rounds of the walls and guards.

When Bron came in, Carina ran to him and threw her arms around his neck and gave him a long kiss. When she pulls away she has a glowing smile on her face: Something special happened. We are going to be parents. Erastil has blessed us.

Whenever Telias feels like returning to society. Either that or when he finally trains all of those bears to do his bidding. I guess it depends on what you meant by "intervention".

Something like that. I was thinking of just kidnapping you while so drunk you cannot even blink and dropping you so deep in the wilderness that you have nothing but your inner demons to contend with in a cave that may or may not be a bear house come winter. Maybe with no alcohol and nothing but the basic struggle for survival to occupy you Erastil will finally get his message across. Also there is no "returning" to society for Telias. For he was never a part of it. He just happened to be its crotchety nosy neighbor.

Updated Maps:

Vertaria - Month 10

Evergreen - Month 10

Olegsburg - Month 10

Once again, please PM me your emails. Right now this is a public directory, but I would prefer to limit it to just the party. At present all I have is I think James and Zorestar's emails.

Also, please not that our road actually does not seem to connect to Restov as we skilled building a road in the Gold Mine hex for some reason. We should rectify this in the next month if possible.

Please let me know if there are any mistakes. We have not completed 3 city blocks as I am trying to develop the city in more of a realistic nature. The commercial/manufacturing together. Homes/retain/education together. And Goverment/education together. I also put the dump and the tannery next to each other as I figure nobody else would really want to live or work next to these. We will complete the 3 blocks for the experience bonus with the next commercial type building.

though I like the idea of it being private, I admit I've noticed some people actually watching the game threads too. More so on my CotCT thread, but could be someone reading this.

Bronwyn smiles, takes his wife at a hug and greets her warmly:

Well, hello there you too. You know the best part of-, he manages to say before noticing her eyes have a different spark and lets her speak her mind.

We uh... You- I- Erastil?

The facade of the usually eloquent baron falls down hard as he struggles to proccess the words. Bron stands genuinely dumbfounded for a couple seconds. Then he breaks into an open, sincere smile, eyes wide with surprise.

You're... with child?, the man finally manages to say, as he approaches his wife to involve her in an embrace. He caresses her face with his hand, asking: I'm going to be a father?

Yeah, he's really thrilled, and a little scared as I figure all parents are.
ps: In which month this happened?

Great work as always Carina. I'm managing to recreate that map I made some months ago, but since I lost it all and am working on a crappy computer, it might take a little time.

1 - I sent you a PM with my e-mail adress.
2 - About the road - there came a month in which we had absolutely no BP to spend - it was either not building a road or not building a farm and suffering from elevated Consumption.
3 - I agree with your positioning, but could you take the southern house at Evergreen and position it on the block to the left? I figure if we ever get a waterfront it'll sit on that southeastern corner.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

No problem, I can move the house. Actually, what you cannot see is that there are 9 "districts", this is only district 1. There is one to the north (District 3), one to the south (District 2), and six (Districts 4-9), forming a large square, to the west. District 2 lies on the convergence of the river and lake. I did this figuring that we would not get the money for the Waterfront until then. Unless you all think that we will be able to save up 90BP before we have this first district filled, I figured that we would put the Waterfront in the southeast corner of District 2, which is directly to the south. That way it would be on the convergence of the river and the lake. Or put it in the middle south block in District 2, and build a park and perhaps temple, shrine, etc. at the convergence of the river and the lake.

Really, it probably makes no difference, it is just whether we are planning on trying to save up 90BP in the next 2 years. More likely will be building a pier and other smaller water bordering things first.

Carina simply smiles with tears in her eyes as she returns the embrace: Yes, we are going to be parents and you are going to be a great father, just as you are a great Baron of this land.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

You've also gained xp for filling one city grid square with buildings and reaching a size of 10. Only 3443 xp till 5th. I'll PM you my Email. Also Waterfront is what a lot of people aim for, as you can tell, due to the many, many items it produces. So....next few months to roll up? Also due to the nature of your size, you are now able to build 2 buildings, 2 Hex claims and 2 Roads a turn, if you have the BP of course.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

DM Aron, can we acquire hexes that are partially off the map, like the one next to the Forgotten Cache?

We can acquire 2 hexes as of last month when we reached Size 11.The other one I have no idea.

ninja'd by Bron and nice roll on the income. Also no, because it's off the map I'm afraid.

1d100 ⇒ 16

1d100 ⇒ 49

1d100 ⇒ 76

1d100 ⇒ 23

1d100 ⇒ 84

1d100 ⇒ 99

The month goes again like last month where the economy appears to be keeping the city life together, however at the water crossing north of your capital, is being plagued by Wyverns. A mating pair have entered and there have been reports of the pair killing innocents, attacking farmers and anyone heading north or south.

you have two options, gather the group together and take them down yourselves or march on with a militia and roll a stability check.
