Master of Procrastination and Grognardia

wow that post took ages, mostly because of my stupid internet and I wanted to come up with some things to keep every member of the group occupied so I'm not playing favourite or leaving anyone out.

Master of Procrastination and Grognardia

sorry for not replying sooner but was fighting off BSOD problem. Solved now though.

Took you a long time, go look at my first post in the ToEE campaign.

Bron & Zorestar - I got your headbands. You both need to deduct 3600 (apparently my pretty smile works quite well on scholarly old magicians) for your headbands. They are purchased and you will have them as soon as I meet back up with James and make the return trip.

was about to say "Well how much action do you think he gets?" but then I remember there being a argument online over if Sorcerers or Wizards get the most tail which lead to people comparing charisma and to be used in being approchable and getting laid to the wizard's spell of "planar binding" and how it can be used to get some demonic or angelic tail.

Well, lets see - wizards are all study and no fun, sorcerers are all personality and fun. I think it is sort of like in high school - the fun people get the good stuff when young, and then end up ugly and fat. The smart people get made fun of when young, then end up rich and married to super models.

now I'm wondering where Kate Beckinsale is. Not that attractive when dressed up for movie presentations but when she has that short black hair and that tight leather suit...*drool*

I must respectively disagree, sir. I do, however, agree with Seth Rogan on the matter.

Other possible nation names:

Plurivshire - essentially the land of many rivers.

Caswall - we are a wall against the lands of Casmaron

Freihaven - a haven for the free

Male Human Bard 4

Just to let ya guys know I'm still checking the threads 5-10 times per day, but I'm posting sparingly 'cause Bronwyn is kindda faded into the background right now. I'm happy to keep him occupied in general terms for now (that's why I posted a daily routine he would follow).

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

We still need to decide on a name for the country. Vertaria has been proposed, but Carina has decided that she is not so into it. Low wisdom plus her anger management issues would make her rather indecisive on decisions like this.

Still around. It's been incredibly busy lately, so much so that I had to drop 2/4 of my games on the board. Don't worry, I'm sticking with this one but I've been having trouble getting sufficient time. I'm cooking my son some dinner now and I'll be putting him to bed in a couple hours so expect an update in the IC soon.

If James & Carina want to go on back to camp in the meantime, feel free. I'm sure I'll be able to track you down :)

That is why I was waiting for James, IC you seemed to indicate that you had some personal matters that might take more time.

(Soon = 38-42 hours) so I'm right on schedule :)

I just had a surprise visit from Canadian relatives on top of packing for a move at the end of the month so I must again apologize for my response time.

Ok all, we need a name for the country. James, Carina and Ganit should be back shortly and Bron is getting tired of checking the site and seeing nothing to comment on. Also, I am pretty sure that we need to save Zorestar or he is going to be blindsided by his crazy girlfriend from Varnhold.

Here is another name - Paxterra - or - Terrapax --> essentially Land of Peace, derived from Latin if anyone is wondering. I would use Russian or something eastern, but I do not speak these languages, or understand their alphabets.

Master of Procrastination and Grognardia

How about you make a Tally and then people vote on what they like. As a DM I have no opinion on the matter so I will be the tie breaker if stuck.

I suggest writing up the names, and tallying up votes for what names people like.

I've compiled a list of the proposed names from the last few pages. I figure we can all look through them and put our vote on one. We can go with majority after one vote or we can vote 2-3 times to slim down the choices and meet a specific percentage (ie. 4/6).

Paxterra
Terrapax
Plurivshire
Caswall
Freihaven
Gbajcratz
Greendale
Greensylvania
Greenmont
Vertagistan
Verdoxbourg
Vertanu
Montvert
Montvertland
Vertaria
Greenwood
Greentopia
Woodstock
Telias's Funhippieland
Greenholm
Sylverde

I like Caswall.

*EDIT* ^^ That was a very general statement.

I'm voting for Caswall.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

While I am rather liking Telias's Funhippieland, I am not sure that it is the right one for us.

My three favorites:

Gbajcratz <-- Hey, it has all our initials in it.
Caswall <-- tough sounding
Paxterra <-- has a nice ring to it

Master of Procrastination and Grognardia

Jeeez that's a lot of names. Didn't think we had that many names :p

Edit: Also a update on the BSOD problem, I have moved all my info up to my PC. I haven't yet finished, but I have all the major stuff like the APs PDFs, notes on the campaign, ideas for later in the campaign and so on. I'm just waiting for people to allow my herolab licence of this computer as they seem to have a issue with it. Maybe it's because I moved it before on my laptop to it's second hard drive and saw that as moving it, but will have to wait for them. Until then I only have very vanilla herolab :p

Oh also I have been working on a homebrew and with Alex's help I've finished making the traits for the adventure. Will be set in Magnimar (not the AP, will be different) and invlove meeting someone who owns a black market and network able to find you information on anyone or able to obtain anything, but only for a price.

Here are the traits I came up with, though of course needed much help from Alex:

Blood of Ancients: You have ancient and powerful blood running through your body. No matter your ancestor, you choose your own path, but you gain a boon from the strength of your ancestors. It may have manifested itself since birth or late teens, but eitherway you feel that you are destined for greatness.

Azlanti: Somewhere far in your past your ancesters were part of the great and ancient human race known as the Azlanti. who managed to escape the initial destruction of Earthfall. You have a natural skill with all things magical. You gain a +2 trait bonus to Spellcraft as you appear to understand all spells on a subconcious level.

Dire Corby: Your blood once crossed with the Dire Corby, bird-like humanoids that it was said once lived on the surface before being driven into the darklands just as the Serpentfolk were. You have had many dreams of flying, more than the average person. You gain a +2 trait bonus to fly, which increases to +4 if the character gains wings.

Serpentfolk: Your ancestors mixed with the Serpentfolk, most likely as slaves that produced offspring or some kind of experiment in mixing the two species. You have an affiliation with serpents and reptiles, and can cast Speak With Animals at will to converse with such creatures (including various forms of dinosaurs, lizards, and other cold-blooded creatures). In addition, you gain a +1 trait bonus on the initial save to resist a poison.

Thassilonian: The lords of Thassilon decided that the lesser races should be allowed to practice magic just as the Azlanti do, however the civilisation fell into decadence and those that were there have been scatters, most likely either as Varisians or Shoanti tribes, both of who practice their own kind of magic. Your ancestor might have been one of the "lesser races" or an Azlanti who lives in Thassilonian. Because of your Affiliation with magic you gain a +1 trait bonus to one subschool (such as compulsion or polymorph).

Missing Colleague/Friend/Partner: You know someone who went to Magnimar to study the monuments of Magnimar as they appear to have become recently charged, though no one knows why. Your colleague went ahead of you to investigate this but has not returned your messages for several weeks and has gone missing from their inn room leaving no trace. From your study you
gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (history) checks made in Varisia due to your familiarity with its historical remnants. This bonus increases to +2 if the check relates to the city of Magnimar. Additionally, you gain a +2 trait bonus on any skill check made to receive a boon from one of Magnimar’s magically imbued monuments.

Omen: You one night have a vision of Magnimar in fire. You were then plagued with visions, yet retain no memory of them but you get a sense of DeJaVu. Because of this you gain a +1 to initiative and reflex saves.

Child of a Hero: Varisia breeds many heroes in it's history and you are the child of one of these many heroes who have travelled the lands and killed impending threats to Varisia and Golarian. That greatness has been passed to you, weither you ever knew your parent or not doesn't matter as they have passed down their greatness to you. You gain a masterwork breastplate and a +1 trait bonus to diplomacy within varisia, due to the high standing of your parent.

no ETA on the completeion of the homebrew, I still have to work out a few first missions and then after that I'll build stuff based on the PCs background and how things progress in the story.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Interesting, sounds cool - right now I am pretty much capped out on what I should be doing here, but that does not mean I would not join another campaign anyway. Let me know when you decide to move forward with it.

Well first I have to download maptools and tokentools and grab all the tokens I have off my laptop.

Then I will finish off the set up. It'll be for 1st level campaignm which is the difficult part with trying to keep it balanced so you don't kill off the group :p

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Lol - I am learning that. At least you have experience DMing. Gotta remember, I have decided to rework the Temple of Elemental Evil to PF/Golarian. So far we are two weeks of playing, and I have not killed any of the players.

lol that's a start. My last attempt at a homebrew I killed someone outright lol.

Was a encounter with several orcs and a orc barbarian, of course I forgot the obcious flaw with Orcs having ferocity so that they keep fighting until they're dead and one with barbarian levels would just be almost unkillable for first level :p

Male Human Bard 4

On the naming issue, I vote for Greenwood. Simple enough, easily identifiable. Bit generic maybe.

Caswall sound interesting, but I've forgotten; what does the Cas refer to?

Male Orc Expert 5

I prefer Telias's Funhippieland. It will be like how the greenbelt is now but with more bloodthirsty animals who enjoy the taste of human flesh.

I've been thinking about Telias recently and I think I'm okay with the little development he's been getting. I like the idea that he's more of a mystery that slowly reveals itself over time. You think he's human . But given that he spends most of his time alone in a deep wood where entire colonies have simply vanished it does lend to some interesting questions he's not about to answer.

Male Orc Expert 5

As for a serious answer I like Caswall but I'd do a google search on it to see just what wretched hive of scum and villainy we're aligning ourselves with here.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Caswall - A wall against the incursion from Casmaran to the east.

Male Orc Expert 5

Ah, so you want to name yourself to be immediately antagonistic. No thanks.

Telias's Funhippieland it is.

"Welcome to Telfunland!"

TarkXT wrote:

"Welcome to Telfunland!"

Where all the buildings are inflated bouncy houses and reggae is the only legal music.

You know, I am starting to think that Karlan and Telias may in fact be long lost brothers.

Male Orc Expert 5

I think you have a very skewed viewpoint on who Telias is.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

LG righteous Paladin vs. 1/2 animal druid who likes to eat field mice. Sounds the same to me.

Male Orc Expert 5

Even in alternate universe's KArlan can't catch a break

Male Human Bard 4

So it's two votes for Caswall (Ganit and Carina), one for Greenwood (me) and one for Telias's Funhippieland (Telias).

Can we poke Zorestar and Jameson to vote?

Male Human Wizard 4 (hp: 33/33 AC: 13, FF: 12, T:12)

I've been thinking about it. I cannot do Caswall. I do like Greenwood, but it just seems like it is too small a place. I would almost prefer Greenland if it wasn't already taken in our world. What about Greenaria, Greenbourg, or Grenlandija? If you don't like any of these, can you find for me another country name with a variation of green in it?

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

I still think that Gbajcratz was creative, but nobody seemed to like it. It has all our initials in order of when we joined the campaign - that was not easy to do.

Male Half-Orc Cavalier (Gendarme)/5

Paxterra or Vertaria are my vote.

I agree that Caswall is not a good idea.

Master of Procrastination and Grognardia

Just did some messing around with the draconic translator online and found a few alternatives.

achuak thaczil = Green Land

cas dos = Cas wall

diwhaf = fun

Can come up with some interesting names there. Also thinking about Bronwyn and his brilliant lie I used this on the translator.

daron thaczil = Knight Land

Hope the translator might give you a few new ideas. It seems to only translate words and not names which can be a little frustraiting.

Edit: Actually I just realised, Knight Land sounds like a Medival themed theme park :p

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

So, not that we have a solid lack of agreement, second round of voting.

Ok, everyone vote first, second and third.
Here is the list as reduced by the last round:

Caswall
Gbajcratz
Paxterra
Vertaria
Greenwood
Greenaria
Greenbourg
Grenlandija
Greenland
Telias's Funhippieland

First is 3 points, second is 2, third is 1. Whichever has the most points wins.

My votes:

First - Gbajcratz
Second - Paxterra
Third - Caswall

EDIT - got ninjaed by DM Aron as my son asked me to play a game while posting.

Male Human Wizard 4 (hp: 33/33 AC: 13, FF: 12, T:12)

Ok,

First Choice = Vertaria
Second Choice = Grenlandija
Third Choice = Paxterra

Male Half-Orc Cavalier (Gendarme)/5

Vertaria Paxterra Grenlandija.

Master of Procrastination and Grognardia

Keeping count here, need 3 more to vote. Two are in the lead, but it's anyone's game now.

Male Human Bard 4

OK, it's Greenwood > Greenaria > Greenland for me. I'm a green kind of guy :)

Human Ranger 3 / Rogue 2
Stats:
HP 38/38; AC 18, touch 13, Flat Footed 15; CMD 19; Fort +3, Reflex +9 (Evasion), Will +4; Perception +11 (+1 v traps; +2 v Humans); Initiative +3

Paxterra
Greenwood
Caswall

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Score so far - with only the insane druid yet to vote (and he may not believe in democracy anyway).

Ganit:
1) Paxterra
2) Greenwood
3) Caswall

Bron:
1) Greenwood
2) Grenaria
3) Greenland

James:
1) Vertaria
2) Paxterra
3) Grenlandija

Zorestar:
1) Vertaria
2) Grenlandija
3) Paxterra

Carina:
1) Gbajcratz
2) Paxterra
3) Caswall

So far:

Paxterra - 8 points
Vertaria - 6 points
Greenwood - 5 points
Grenlandija - 3 point
Gbajcratz - 3 points
Caswall - 2 points
Grenaria - 2 points
Greenland - 1 point

Master of Procrastination and Grognardia

yup, that's my count too. Just waiting for TarkXT or Telias, which ever he'd like to be known as.
