Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Interesting, the spell resistance would be nice. I already have a +1 (+2 with Orc Bloodline) natural armor and +1 damage.

The Mist Child trait would be nice, but I expect to get into melee at some point - after all, between class bonuses and bloodline powers, I may well have a strength of something like 26 or 28 before I am done.

I do like the Uncanny Resistance - take it at about 10th level and end up with 16 to 26 Spell Resistance, that would be nice.

Male Human Bard 4

I will add up the treasure we found before if it's not troublesome with anyone. Even though I'll only trade the cash after we get to Oleg's, I figure we will only be able to spend it once we get there anyway. Can he buy my old chain shirt (for the half-price of 50g)?

Bronwyn: Mwk Chain Shirt, Ring of Protection +1 & Gold: 3502.27

Master of Procrastination and Grognardia

Yeah I believe I said when you started that I'd allow it as a retcon once it was released, though at the end of this adventure. I have the book myself and there are a lot of interesting stuff and I quite like the stuff for Tieflings and Aasimars.

Male Human Wizard 4 (hp: 33/33 AC: 13, FF: 12, T:12)

Hi Folks, I am going to be away for about three weeks on a family vacation. I leave on June 27 (this Wednesday morning) and return around July 18th. Carina agreed to run Zorestar if needed. I will look forward to getting back to the game. Thanks!

I envy you guys so much. Never had a chance to play Runelords. I'm on vacation for the next month and the two games I play are moving at a really slow pace. You guys know of any game with an open spot?

Male Orc Expert 5

ATM no I'm afraid. It's been fun so far having my paladin of the common man slowly but surely convert the party's rogue to a better individual.

Sadly the gnome cannot be saved so he may have to be expunged via cannon.

The game I mentioned before should still be willing to accept people. It's pretty slow moving right now but I expect it will pick up with a bit of new blood.

Male Human Bard 4

I'll check it out Gan. Thought the recruitment would've been closed by now. Even though I just got a job it's only part time, I'll still have plenty of time in my hands.

Master of Procrastination and Grognardia

I've been reading runelords and been quite interested in the story, especially the main villain in part one is quite interesting. I might buy the updated collection on PDF and see the changed, but it is interesting.

Going to need to note down my ideas for the homebrew I have in mind, still need to think up some ideas for low level stuff.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Just finished writing up the Recruitment Thread intro for the Temple of Elemental Evil. Will probably get it posted in 2-3 weeks once I have all the other background and PF modification stuff worked out. Took forever to figure out how to modify/change the nemesises. Demon Lords and demi-gods are a little more powerful in PF than they were in AD&D.

Looks like it will take place in northern Taldor, although I might still change that.

sounds prety awesome, but I've been re-invited to a game I was in before until the game was cancelled due to DM leaving, but he's returned now and I'd be at limit, especially if I start up that homebrew anytime.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

I have one person I have invited in. Gonna do a regular recruitment for the other 5 players. Anyone is welcome to apply, but I hate people who drop out or post infrequently, so that will factor into my evaluation. Since I am in 13 campaigns at present, I know several players (none in this game) which I am unlikely to put in the party. I would love to say anyone who has welcomed me into their campaign is in, but I do not think that I could handle a 30+ person party, lol.

Male Half-Orc Cavalier (Gendarme)/5

I think I topped out at 12 campaigns before I realized it was just too much.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Well, it is either waste my time doing this, or do real work. And I hate real work - go to court, watch corruption in action, lose to the guy who is paying off the judge, repeat.

I'm in 4 campaigns right now. Two of which I like a lot (congrats to everyone here for making that possible), one has some great potential and the other I kinda feel obligated to stay in. I think that I could handle one more if it were something I could really invest myself in before reaching my absolute limit.

I recommend anyone in my current campaigns...which you are in both so won't need to look hard :p. I highly recommend everyone from my first homebrew attempt if you run into them, they were awesome players, just a shame I wasn't very good.

It could be that this is just my first PbP so I'll try not to gush when I say that this campaign is the benchmark I use to judge the rest. I love that our characters have a tendency to simply drop everything and get into heated philosophical debates over just about anything and nothing lol!

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

I am probably in too many right now:

Kingmaker - Changeling Sorcerer(orcish)
Runelords - Changeling Bard
Red Hand - Gnome Sorcerer(draconic)
Multiple Modules(currently Hangman's Noose) - Tiefling Fighter/Oracle(going Sorcerer/DD)
Counsel of Thieves - Elf Rogue/Wizard (going Arcane Trickster)
Legacy of Fire - Human Fighter/Ranger(possibly going Arcane Archer)
Curse of the Crimson Throne - Aasimar Rogue/Cleric
Skulls & Shackles - Tiefling Druid
Carrion Crown - Human Druid
Martial Homebrew - Dwarf Monk
Age of Worms - Elf Witch
Homebrew(assassins) - Tiefling Witch
Homebrew - Human Ranger/Rogue
(as you can see, I favor everything except Paladins, Alchemists, Summoners, Inquisitors and Barbarians)

I was in one campaign early on - Fallen Fortress - in which I really did not have fun. The DM was too much into his structure and rules (everyone had to post in order). That really slowed things down even though the players were pretty cool. I also dropped out of one Carrion Crown campaign when the DM had not posted for a month. He then logged on and canned the campaign.

All things considered, I like all the campaigns I am in right now. I have a few definite favorites (which I will not list as two of my DMs, in addition to Aron, are in this campaign.) But I have none that I would drop unless they went completely dead on posting. Some there is regular posting, but little chit chat on the ooc, others - like this one sometimes and the Wayward Kings that Aron and I am in, go in waves with a ton of game posts followed by a ton of OOC posts.

I think that the campaigns with regular OOC posting are a little more fun as you get to learn about others and just get to interact with the other players. When there is no OOC, the campaign frequently starts to feel a little robotic.

And yeh James, someone foolishly let me take and pass the bar, so technically I am a lawyer. I like to think of myself as a problem solver and annoyance to a corrupt system, unfortunately at this point I do not have the power to overthrow the nepotistic system I am stuck with. (And if you are wondering why I am so pessimistic about the system, just remember that I live and practice in the state which has had four of its last nine governors go to prison on charges of corruption and/or fraud.)

Male Human Bard 4

I'm in three campaigns in the moment. This one, a Skull and Shackles one that's going REALLY slow (the DM was slow even before breaking his computer) and a Serpent's Skull one that's similar.

I started playing in a Carrion Crown and at least 2 Kingmakers before this one. None of those survived a couple weeks. I find that experience really awful, since you go to the trouble of crunching numbers and creating a backstory, investing yourself emotionally into that character and then it's all gone in the blink of an eye.

At least you have the characters (or at least the ideas) to resubmit to new recruitment threads. Whats worst is going through the same ordeal for a homebrew setting.

Master of Procrastination and Grognardia

Oh about kingdom building I didn't mention this because you hadn't discovered the stag lord's fort, but the location is in the centre of the stolen lands and with the river nearby you have a endless supply of fresh water and can even set up a trading route down it, just as Zorestar's family has made it's money from a trading route up and down the river up in Brevoy, which connects to this one not to mention all the fishing and fresh fish there.

Because of this if you build your capital city there you gain a +1 bonus
on Economy, Loyalty, and Stability due to its centralized location and ease of defense plus the exsisting structure halves the cost of a castle if you wish to build one.

The other two locations below are as follows:

Oleg’s Trading Post: The trading post is a versatile structure built to serve as a place of business. If the PCs decide to found a city in this hex, they can incorporate Oleg’s as a free Shop, Stable, or Watchtower in their city grid (once chosen, the function of Oleg’s within the new city cannot be changed).

Temple of the Elk: Although the Temple of the Elk is partially ruined, building a city here gives the PCs a head start on a Temple, halving the initial cost of building such a structure.

So there you go, plus still waiting on your backstories and I'm free ot message if you want to brainstorm.

Your Humble Narrator

Should be pointed out those are logical building sites but not your only options.

DM Aron Marczylo wrote:

What backstories?

My initial vote is the Stag Lord's fort. Halving the cost of an expensive building like the castle is nice. Also, I think that building the castle early reduces the cost of a lot of other stuff. But, I have not checked this recently as I am short of time these days.

Also, thinking about going forward, how many BP do we start out with and what is the conversion of gold to BP. I have the info from the Book of the River Kingdoms. Is this all applicable? Or is there something else. I know that you posted it a while ago, but figure we should get everything straight before we start deciding on how and where our nation will begin.

Well we've sorted yours out, but a few players are a little vague in areas and I have sent them private messages a while back concerning this, lol. This is so I can add more fluff into the adventure to make it unique to this group and unlike other KM campaigns :D

Also as Alex said is true, those are suggestions, not the only places to set up a kingdom, but as you can see each of those gives you a boon one way or the other.

You are correct, a castle does reduce the cost of other buildings by half, can't remember off the top of my head what ones but it's usually the more expensive ones plus, come on, in fluff text who wouldn't want their capital to contain a castle as you can have it as a meeting place to hear the plights of the people or greet visitors from other nations.

According to this you'll get a new charter as well as a shipment of gold, tools, crastmen, laborers and colonists eager to make a new life in this new and exciting kingdom, which ammounts to giving you 50 BP to start off with.

Castles cost 54, however as this will half your cost on the stag lord's fortress it'll only cost 27 bp.

For the cost of BP, I past the below:

Step 1—Deposits: You can add funds to a kingdom’s treasury by donating coins, gems, jewelry, weapons, armor, magic items, and other valuables you find while adventuring. For every full 4,000 gp in value of the deposit, increase your kingdom’s BP by 1. Items that individually cost more than 4,000 gp must be sold as detailed under Step 3 below.

Though that means what you're essentially given to start off with is 200,000 gp in money, equipment and other essentials together.

Concerning the book of the river nations, I've been thinking of only bringing in events as more buildings would cause a headache and you already have sooooo many buildings to choose from, plus no little buildings to place on the city grid so you'd have to rely on my terrible drawings in that reguard lol

I havn't had a good look at the book of the river nations and I've just been told of a rarther silly sounding spell called "summon army" so that's out.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

How many buildings can we build each month? And how many hexes can we improve? For instance, could we only build a House(3BP) and a Castle (27BP) and also settle and begin farming one hex (2BP) and build a road in it (1BP) for a total of 33BP in the first month? And then build more the following months? I know that we would waste the Unrest reduction of the Castle, but +2/+2/+2 from the start is a nice bonus. And it would look really cool.

I do not see a limit in your info posted a few months ago. However, the Book of the River Kingdoms limits a nation of size 1-10 to 1 building (1 house is a free extra each month), 1 hex claimed, 1 road, 1 new city, and 1 open space developed. Are we also limited to this, or can we build more than just 1 building (plus 1 house) each month?

Your Humble Narrator

Don't think of BP as GP, that road leads to madness. Treat it as separate kingdom currency. In reality, it rarely if ever represents actual gold.

Male Human Bard 4

We could build a Tenement in the same month as the Castle. If I understood correctly, it counts the same as a house, and it would make some sense as the kingdom at that point is only a simple camp. We always could upgrade it to a house in the future.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

That is what I am trying to figure out, the first House does not count against building units, but I am not sure whether Tenements work the same way.

Alex - I don't think that I am looking at them as GP - it is more, what is the fastest way for us to get our Economy up so that we are gaining BP. Three 6BP units would equal +2/+2/+2, but would take 3 months I think. On the other hand, we can get the full thing for 9 BP more with a Castle in month 1. The we can build other stuff in the other two months and still have BP from the initial 50 left over.

Male Human Bard 4

I was thinking along those lines Alex. The rules are really steep for converting one to another, and it can really screw with PC wealth one way or the other. I'd rather just keep those separated anyways.

Nettles' Treasure:

Nettles' Treasure
+1 Ranseur - 655g (weapon 10 + mwk 300 + enchantment + 1000 = 1310g/2 = 655g)
Catching Cape - 100g (200/2 = 100g)
Gems - 880g (amber 300g + amethyst 200g + red garnets 200g + onyx 150g + freshwater pearls 30g)
Gold - 73

Total: 1708/6 = 284.16

So after factoring in the shiny gems and spoils we got from the water zombie, we're looking at:

Updated Shares

Bronwyn Mwk Chain Shirt, Ring of Protection +1 & Gold: 3786.42
Carina 1500g of Jewelry & Gold: 3411.42
Ganit +1 Composite Longbow [+2 STR] & Gold: 3761.42
Jameson Gold: 4911.42
Telias Gold: 4911.42
Zorestar Amulet of Natural Armor & Gold: 3911.42

Carina - I appreciate the offer of the ranseur but it would be sily of me to have a reach weapon for melee seeing as anyone further than 5' away will be my own personal pin cushion. Besides, it seems like any trained Knight should be able to handle it (wink wink). You may want to use Kesten's free weapon for a crossbow? I always like to give casters a crutch for long days or short nights.

I may take that +1 Longsword if no one else is looking at it. I probably won't rely on it too much but it's worth grabbing since it's there. Last chance James & Bron!

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 28/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Lol - James + Enlarge Person + Reach Weapon = lots of AoO

Will think about it later. Definately want a masterwork lance for James.

Tenements do NOT work in the same way as houses for the purpose of a "free" building.

What do you think of the little twist I added in the post for you? I'm curious because I don't want to mis-represent your character or how other characters from the past would act around him.

Plus the ideas I'm coming up with are quite interestings so we'll have to see what'll happen :D

Same with everyone else. For instance if your character was being chased by someone, that someone might appear, but at the same time I won't make it so obvious as you'd expect it. To quote a line from Dune.

"...I see many things. I see plans within plans." -Oberon

Can't wait to unravel all I've thought about so far lol.
